A crucial issue in evolution of severe storm, such as typhoon and even singlesupercell, is to diagnose and predict the sudden intensifying in storm. This paper describes anattempt to investigate the influence and effect of ambient moisture in the development of storm. Itwas mainly through a dynamic way to detect the helical enhancement by ambient moisture. It was foundthat the correlation between the ambient moistness and the intensity of rotating convective cellscan be well analyzed by helicity dynamics. The correlation between environmental streamwisevorticity (i. e. helicity) and vertical velocity (storm updraft or downdraft) is a powerfulindicator to catch favorable or unfavorable conditions for storm evolution. For this purpose, athree-dimensional non-hydrostatic storm-scale model, Advanced Regional Prediction System CARPS) wasemployed in order to numerically simulate a well-documented case of Del City supercell storm indifferent kinds of environmental moistness. Moreover, such different kinds of ambient moistenvironment and the resultant different morphologies and evolutions in the storm clearlydemonstrated that the abundant moistness in the environment that the storm embedded significantlystrengthens tbe storm intensity. In fact, the storm is embedded in much moist environment andtherefore larger instability propagates faster than the one in the drier air. It further producesstronger low-level mesocyclone with a much longer lifetime. The stronger convection and twist in theupdraft indicates that helical enhancement effect by moisture lead to stronger tornadic activity insevere storm.

In the last decade, the surface plasmon resonance-enhanced solar water splitting （SWS） has been actively investigated for improved hydrogen production. In this mini-review, we briefly introduce the mechanisms for plasmon-enhanced SWS and then review some representative studies related to these mechanisms. In addition, we also briefly discuss how metal oxide geometry affects the SWS activity in combined metalsemiconductor nanostructures. Finally, we summarize the recent discoveries and proposed a future vision for plasmon-enhanced SWS with metal oxide nanostructures.

The highest thermal-hydraulic pressure in the containment occurs when reactor coolant in the first loop and steam in the secondary loop discharge simultaneously,and when the maximum amount of energy from reactor unit enters to containment volume. In this paper, we investigate temperature and pressure variations in the VVER 1000 containment compartments owing to concurrent break in the pipelines of the primary and secondary loops. A two-phase, multicellular model is applied in the presence of non-condensable gases. Convection and conduction through the main heat structures inside the containment are also considered. The predicted results agree well with available data. Maximum values of pressure and temperature in the containment are then calculated and compared to the design values. If LOCA and MSLB occur simultaneously, the maximum pressure would exceed the design value and integrity of the containment would be threatened.

On the accuracy of higher order displacement discontinuity method(HODDM) in the solution of linear elastic fracture mechanics problems

The higher order displacement discontinuity method(HODDM) utilizing special crack tip elements has been used in the solution of linear elastic fracture mechanics(LEFM) problems. The paper has selected several example problems from the fracture mechanics literature(with available analytical solutions) including center slant crack in an infinite and finite body, single and double edge cracks, cracks emanating from a circular hole. The numerical values of Mode Ⅰ and Mode Ⅱ SIFs for these problems using HODDM are in excellent agreement with analytical results(reaching up to 0.001% deviation from their analytical results). The HODDM is also compared with the XFEM and a modified XFEM results. The results sh.w that the HODDM needs a considerably lower computational effort(with less than 400 nodes) than the XFEM and the modified XFEM(which needs more than 10000 nodes) to reach a much higher accuracy. The proposed HODDM offers higher accuracy and lower computation effort for a wide range of problems in LEFM.

In this research, we investigated the influence of rock mass properties, blast design parameters and explosive properties on blast fragmentation. Rock mass properties were evaluated in 51 blasting blocks using engineering geological mapping of 1961 meters of the scanline, experiments on intact rock samples and measuring P-wave velocity(Vp) for 1771 meters of seismic profiles. The results indicate that increasing spacing, persistence, opening, roughness, waviness of discontinuities, and Vp and uniaxial compressive strength(UCS) of intact rock as well as the increase of discontinuities angle with the bench face of blasting block will increase the size distribution of blasted rocks. In addition, evaluation of the influence of connector type, specific drilling and specific charge has sh.wn that using the Nonel system will decrease the mean size of fragmentation. It is also demonstrated that increasing specific drilling and specific charge quantities will result in the increase of mean size of fragmentation.

A facile and cheap method for the fabrication of WC-Al2O3composite powder was *** calculations indicate that aluminothermic reduction of WO3in WO3:xAl:(4-1.5x)C mixture is accompanied by a great deal of heat,so carbothermic reduction reaction(endothermic)becomes activated in the *** substitution of aluminum with carbon,the formation of unwanted W2C phase can be prevented because of less thermodynamic stability at lower *** the verification of the proposed reaction mechanism,various WO3:xAl:(4-1.5x)C mixtures(1.1≤x≤2)were heat-treated in a domestic microwave *** results sh.wed that the type of reaction is self-propagating high temperature synthesis(sh.)when1.4≤x≤*** amount of Al in WO3:xAl:(4-1.5x)C mixtures results in a higher formation of WC.A W2C-free WC-Al2O3composite was obtained by continuation of microwave heating in an isolated atmosphere,after the occurrence of sh. reaction in a mixture containing1.4mol of *** also sh.wed that when x≤1.3,type of reaction becomes gradual,which in turn brings about the incompleteness reaction and residue of initial reagents.

A theoretical study of the dynamical behaviors of the interaction between a two-level atom with a Morse potential in the framework of the Jaynes Cummings model （JCM） is discussed. We sh.w that this system is equivalent to an intensity-dependent coupling between the two-level atom and the non-deformed single-mode radiation field in the presence of an additional nonlinear interaction. We study the dynamical properties of the system such as, atomic population inversion, the probability distribution of cavity-field, the Mandel parameter and atomic dipole squeezing. It is sh.wn how the depth of the Morse potential can be affected by non-classical properties of the system. Moreover, the temporal evolution of the Husimi-distribution function is explored.
