Brain tumor is a global issue due to which several people suffer,and its early diagnosis can help in the treatment in a more efficient *** different types of brain tumors,including gliomas,meningiomas,pituitary tumors,as well as confirming the absence of tumors,poses a significant challenge using MRI *** approaches predominantly rely on traditional machine learning and basic deep learning methods for image *** methods often rely on manual feature extraction and basic convolutional neural networks(CNNs).The limitations include inadequate accuracy,poor generalization of new data,and limited ability to manage the high variability in MRI *** the EfficientNetB3 architecture,this study presents a groundbreaking approach in the computational engineering domain,enhancing MRI-based brain tumor *** approach highlights a major advancement in employing sophisticated machine learning techniques within Computer Science and Engineering,showcasing a highly accurate framework with significant potential for healthcare *** model achieves an outstanding 99%accuracy,exhibiting balanced precision,recall,and F1-scores across all tumor types,as detailed in the classification *** successful implementation demonstrates the model’s potential as an essential tool for diagnosing and classifying brain tumors,marking a notable improvement over current *** integration of such advanced computational techniques in medical diagnostics can significantly enhance accuracy and efficiency,paving the way for wider *** research highlights the revolutionary impact of deep learning technologies in improving diagnostic processes and patient outcomes in neuro-oncology.

Safety threshold of intravitreal clonidine in rabbit's eyes

AIM： To determine the safe dose of intravitreal clonidine（IVC）, a potential drug for neuroprotection and angiogenesis inhibition in rabbits. METHODS： A total of 28 rabbits were divided into four groups. Three groups received IVC with concentrations of 15（Group A）, 25（Group B）, and 50（Group C） g/0.1 m L and the control group（Group D） received 0.1 m L balanced salt solution（BSS）. To investigate IVC safety, electroretinography（ERG） was performed at baseline, then at 1, 4 and 8 wk after injection. After last ERG, all rabbits were euthanized, their eyes were enucleated and subjected to routine histopathological evaluation, immunohistochemistry for glial fibrillary acidic protein（GFAP） and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase d UTP nick end labeling（TUNEL） ***： Based on ERG, histopathology, GFAP and TUNEL assay findings, 15 g IVC was determined as the safe dose in rabbit eyes. While, the results of routine histopathology and TUNEL assay were unremarkable in all groups, toxic effects attributed to 25 and 50 g IVC were demonstrated by ERG and GFAP tests. CONCLUSION： Totally 15 g clonidine is determined as the safe dose for intravitreal injection in rabbits. Contribution of IVC in neuroprotection and inhibition of angiogenesis deserve more studies.

AIM: The present study deals with the investigation of mechanisms involved in the synergistic interaction between epinephrine and arachidonic acid (AA). METHODS: Venous blood was taken from healthy human volunteers reported to be free of medications for one week. Platelet aggregation was monitored at 37oC using Dual-channel Lumi-aggregometer. The resulting aggregation was recorded for 5 min by the measurement of light transmission as a function of time. RESULTS: The data show that a synergism in platelet aggregation mediated by subthreshold concentrations of epinephrine (1 μmol/L) and AA (0.2 μmol/L) was inhibited by the α2-receptor antagonist (yohimbine, IC50=0.6 μmol/L) and an inhibitor of AA-cyclooxygenase (COX), indomethacin (IC50=0.25 μmol/L). In examining receptor influence on intraplatelet signalling pathways, it was found that the synergistic effect was inhibited by calcium channel blockers, verapamil (IC50=0.4 μmol/L) and diltiazem (IC50=2.5 μmol/L), as well as by low concentrations of inhibitors of phospholipase C (PLC) (U73122; IC50=0.2 μmol/L) and mitogens activated protein kinase (MAPK) (PD 98059; IC50=3.8 μmol/L). Herbimycin A, a specific inhibitor of tyrosine light chain kinase (TLCK), showed inhibition at IC50 value of 15 μmol/L, whereas chelerythrine, a protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor, had no effect up to 20 μmol/L. CONCLUSION: These data suggest that synergism between epinephrine and AA in platelet aggregation is triggered through receptors coupled to G-protein, which in turn, activate PLC, COX, and MAP kinase-signaling pathways.

Introduction Tuberculosis(TB)is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases in the world,causing major public health problems in developing *** rate of TB incidence in Iran was estimated to be 13 per 100,000 in *** study aimed to estimate the reproduction number and serial interval for pulmonary tuberculosis in *** and methods The present national historical cohort study was conducted from March 2018 to March 2022 based on data from the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Registration Center of Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education(MOHME).The study included 30,762 tuberculosis cases and 16,165 new smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients in *** estimated the reproduction number of pulmonary tuberculosis in a Bayesian framework,which can incorporate uncertainty in estimating *** analyses were accomplished in R *** The mean age at diagnosis of patients was 52.3±21.2 years,and most patients were in the 35–63 age group(37.1%).Among the data,9121(56.4%)cases were males,and 7044(43.6%)were *** patients,7459(46.1%)had a delayed diagnosis between 1 and 3 ***,3039(18.8%)cases were non-Iranians,and 2978(98%)were *** time-varying reproduction number for pulmonary tuberculosis disease was calculated at an average of 1.06±0.05(95%Crl 0.96–1.15).Conclusions In this study,the incidence and the time-varying reproduction number of pulmonary tuberculosis showed the same *** mean of the time-varying reproduction number indicated that each infected person is causing at least one new infection over time,and the chain of transmission is not being disrupted.

Treatment of cows with clinical endometritis Ⅲ as cows affected by pyometra-Non antibiotic treatment of severe clinical endometritis

Objective: To confirm the efficacy of non-antibiotic treatment with prostaglandin F2α(PGF2α) in dairy cows affected by severe clinical endometritis in (30±3) days in milk. Methods: Cows with clinical endometritis Ⅲ (n=399) were aligned into three groups randomly. The first group (n=115) received PGF2α, the second group (n=84) received intrauterine infusion (IUI) of oxytetracycline 10% + PGF2α, and the third group (n=200) received IUI. Cows were inseminated following estrus. The pregnancy status, parity, calving and artificial insemination season, ovaries with corpus luteum at the time of treatment, dystocia, body condition score and treatment groups were included in data analysis. Results: Total pregnancy rate was 40.1% after the first insemination and 94.2% after the third insemination. Overall pregnancy rate of treated cows with IUI+PGF2α(84.5%) was significantly lower than the treated cows with PGF2α(98.3%) or IUI (96%) (P<0.05). The first service pregnancy rate of inseminated cows in summer (14.3%) was lower in comparison with cows inseminated in spring (40.4%), fall (41.4%) and winter (51.7%) (P<0.05). Conclusions: PGF2α could treat severe clinical endometritis in dairy cows with corpus luteum in comparison with other treatments.

A novel Shan and Chen type Lattice Boltzmann two phase method to study the capillary pressure curves of an oil water pair in a porous media

In this study,an immiscible oil-water two phase flow in a typical porous media was modeled using the well-known Lattice Boltzmann method.A set of flow tests for modeling an oil-water two phase flow in the porous media were conducted to generate the capillary pressure curves for two distinctive initial conditions,namely,water and oil dispersed conditions in two domains of different *** on the obtained results,the general trend of these curves has an acceptable agreement with the usual trend of these curves in hydrocarbon reservoirs and the capillary data are independent of the initial ***,the results showed the effect of grid resolution on capillary data which are validated quantitatively by proposing a new approach using Purcell's *** can see that they are compatible with the geometrical characteristics of the porous media as well as the conditions governing the ***,another set of tests for oil water pairs of higher viscosity ratio up to 4.4 was performed in a low porosity heterogeneous porous media and the viscous coupling effect on capillary data,due to viscosity ratio,was studied to strengthen the model validation.

Evaluation of Insecticidal Properties of Some Medicinal Herbs on the Confused Flour Beetle Tribolium confusum （Tenebrionidae： Coleoptera）

Five concentrations effects of nine herb powders against the confused flour beetle T. confusum have been studied under controlled conditions. The insecticidal effects of using powders on the egg, larval, pupal and adult stages of the insect showed that some of which （e.g., Foeniculum capillaceum and Anethum graveolens） have certain effects on the different stages of the studied insect even at the lowest concentrations. The mentioned herb powders showed very high mortality for egg stage reached 96.6% and 93.3% respectively at the lowest concentration and 100% at the highest concentration for both powders. Other powdered herbs showed prolonged effect of durations for larval stage. For example, Acorus calamus prolonged this duration to 34.2 days, at the first concentration while it was 25.4 days for control treatment. At the second concentration it was 53 and 41.5 days for An. gr. and Pimpinella anisum respectively, also Matricaria chamomilla showed similar effect at the 4th and 5th concentrations. Comparing with high numbers of progeny for the control treatment, also some powdered herbs showed high effect on respiration of the adults. The quantity of oxygen consumed by untreated beetles during the time of experiment （90 min） was so high than that of beetles treated with Ac. caL, Artemisia absinthium and AL sat. Moreover the internal systems of both sex males and females have been affected, ducts showing different changes when studied anatomically giving small size of ovarioles, deformed of accessory glands, swollen of stink glands with liquid oil. Majority of those males showed small testis. Most of the mentioned effects were happened as results of the powders of A c. cal., Al. sat., and Ma. ch., also the powders of F. cap., and A. abs., decrease the sizes of the testis, and accessory glands.

Synchronization of two different chaotic systems using Legendre polynomials with applications in secure communications

In this study, a new controller for chaos synchronization is proposed. It consists of a state feedback controller and a robust control term using Legendre polynomials to compensate for uncertainties. The truncation error is also considered. Due to the orthogonal functions theorem, Legendre polynomials can approximate nonlinear functions with arbitrarily small approximation errors. As a result, they can replace fuzzy systems and neural networks to estimate and compensate for uncertainties in control systems. Legendre polynomials have fewer tuning parameters than fuzzy systems and neural networks. Thus, their tuning process is simpler. Similar to the parameters of fuzzy systems, Legendre coefficients are estimated online using the adaptation rule obtained from the stability analysis. It is assumed that the master and slave systems are the Lorenz and Chen chaotic systems, respectively. In secure communication systems, observer-based synchronization is required since only one state variable of the master system is sent through the channel. The use of observer-based synchronization to obtain other state variables is discussed. Simulation results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed approach. A comparison with a fuzzy sliding mode controller shows that the proposed controller provides a superior transient response. The problem of secure communications is explained and the controller performance in secure communications is examined.
