Comparative study of adsorptive role of carbonaceous materials in removal of UV-active impurities of paclitaxel extracts

Graphite oxide （GO） and reduced graphene oxide （rGO） nanosheets were synthesized with a low-cost manufacturing method. The morphology and structures of the synthesized samples were studied using X-ray diffraction （XRD）, atomic force microscopy （AFM）, Fourier-transform infrared （FTIR） and Raman spectroscopy. The efficiencies of GO and rGO as novel candidate adsorbents in the pre-purification of paclitaxel were compared and contrasted with those of commercial graphite （Gt）, graphene （G） and multi-wall carbon nanotube （MWCNT）. According to UV-vis and HPLC analyses, rGO was evaluated as the best absorbent for the removal of impurities in pre-purification of paclitaxel from plant cell cultures. In contrast, the GO had the poorest proficiency for paclitaxel pre-purification in comparison with the other carbonaceous adsorbents. This is attributed to the existence of many localized defects in the π-π structure of GO that is related to weakness of π-π stacking interactions between crude extract impurities and GO.

Quantitative Analysis of Holmium Ion by a Ho^3＋ Ion-Selective Sensor Based on a Symmetric Thio-Schiff＇s Base

A poly（vinyl chloride）（PVC） membrane sensor for holmium ions was fabricated based on N-[（Z）-l-（2-thienyl）- methylidene]-N-[4-（4-{[（Z）-l-（2-thienyl）methylidene]amino} phenoxy）phenyl] amine （TPA） as a new ion carrier, acetophenon （AP） as plasticizing solvent mediator and sodium tetraphenyl borate （NaTPB） as an anion excluder. The electrode shows a good selectivity towards Ho^3＋ ions respect to other inorganic cations, including alkali, alka- line earth, transition and heavy metal ions. The constructed sensor displays a Nernstian behavior （19.5±0.3 mV/decade） over the concentration range of 1.0× 10^-6 to 1.0 ×10^- 2 mol·L^-1 with the detection limit of the electrode being 4.6）〈 10-7 mol·L^-1 and very short response time （ca. 5 s）. It has a useful working pH range of 3.2-9.8 for at least 8 weeks. The electrode was successfully applied as an indicator electrode for the potentiometric titration of a Ho^3＋ solution with EDTA and holmium determination in some alloys. The proposed sensor accuracy was studied by the determination of Ho^3＋ in mixtures of three different ions.

Cloud Computing as an Innovation in GIS &SDI: Methodologies, Services, Issues and Deployment Techniques

Cloud computing is one of the main issues of interest to the scientific community of the spatial data. A cloud is referred to computing infrastructure for a representation of network. From the perspective of providers, the main characteristics of cloud computing is being dynamic, high power in computing and storage. Also cloud computing is a cost benefit and effective way for representation of web-based spatial data and complex analysis. Furthermore, cloud computing is a way to facilitate distributed computing and store different data. One of the main features of cloud computing is ability in powerful computing and dynamic storage with an affordable expense and secure web. In this paper we further investigate the methodologies, services, issues and deployed techniques also, about situation of cloud computing in the past, present and future is probed and some issues concerning the security is expressed. Undoubtedly cloud computing is vital for spatial data infrastructure and consequently the cloud computing is able to expand the interactions for spatial data infrastructure in the future.
