Adsorption of Anionic and Cationic Dyes from Textile Effluents by Activated Carbon Prepared from Sawdust and Fish Scale

In Bangladesh, there are thousands of textile-dying industries spread across the country’s many regions, the majority of which involve knitting and dying. The dyeing industry uses an enormous quantity of water, as well as colors and chemicals. After the dying process has been completed, they also release a significant amount of wastewater. Cotton, wool, and polyester fiber are typically dyed with textile dyes such as reactive, acid, and disperse dyes. These dyes are utilized most frequently in the respective sectors. The dyes’ colorants are extremely poisonous and dangerous to all forms of life, including aquatic life and living things. The present work has been intended to investigate whether or not it is practicable to remove commonly used textile dyes simultaneously from an aqueous dye solution using an adsorption technique that makes use of a variety of different adsorbents. This study focuses on the removal of color from two distinct types of dyes—Methylene Blue and Reactive Blue-250 which are cationic and anionic in nature respectively, using two different types of activated carbon adsorbents prepared from sawdust and fish scale. Dye removal capacity was tested as a function of contact time, the dosage of the adsorbent, pH during the treatment process, temperature and initial concentration of dye. The applicability of the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms in describing experimental data was investigated. The micro and mesoporous activated carbon prepared from sawdust and fish scale identified by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images indicated that such adsorbents with a large surface area have more dye adsorption potential whereas the variation in dye adsorption occurs due to variation in surface area. From the overall experimental data, maximum removal of 95.39% and 87.92% was found for Methylene Blue and Reactive Blue-250 respectively by sawdust, and 90.64% removal of Methylene Blue by using fish scale.

Steel Surface Defect Detection Using Learnable Memory Vision Transformer

Determination of hemoglobin adduct of a musk xylene metabolite in trout as biomarker of exposure by gas chromatography mass spectrometry

Musk xylene（MX） is frequently used as fragrances in formulation of personal care products. Quantification of a bound 4-amino- MX（4-AMX） as cysteine adducts in trout hemoglobin（Hb） was made by gas chromatography-ion trap-mass spectrometry（GC/MS）. The Hb samples were collected from trout after 24 h exposure to MX at 10μg/g, and or menhaden oil（control）. The formation of cysteine-Hb adduct was observed from nitroso derivative of MX, released by alkaline hydrolysis. The released 4-AMX metabolite was extracted in n- hexane. The extract was then reduced by evaporation, and analyzed by GC/MS. When similar agreement of mass spectral features and retention time of 4-AMX were obtained in both standard and sample solutions, the presence of 4-AMX metabolite in the Hb was confirmed. The concentration of 4-AMX was found to be 3.1 × 10^-6 6.9 × 10^-6 mg/g in the Hb solution. Quantitation was made based on an internal standard, a calibration plot, and response factor. In the non-hydrolyzed and laboratory blank extracts, the 4-AMX metabolite was not detected. Additionally, coeluting and interfefing ions were observed in the biological samples.

Genetic diversity and population structure analysis of Pistacia species revealed by phenylalanine ammonia-lyase gene markers and implications for conservation

Information on population genetic structure and crop genetic diversity is important for genetically improving crop species and conserving threatened species. The PAL gene sequence is part of a multigene family that can be utilized to design DNA marker systems for genetic diversity and population structure investigation. In the current study, genetic diversity and population structure of 100 accessions of wild Pistacia species were investigated with 78 PAL markers. A protocol for using PAL sequences as DNA markers was developed. A total of 313 PAL loci were recognized, showing 100% polymorphism for PAL markers. The PAL markers produced relatively more observed and effective alleles in Pistacia falcata and Pistacia atlantica, with a higher Shannon＇s information index and expected heterozygosity in P. atlantica, Pistacia vera and Pistacia mutica. Pairwise assessment of Nei＇s genetic distance and genetic identity between populations revealed a close association between geographically iso- lated populations of Pistacia khinjuk and Pistacia chinensis. The accessions of wild Pistacia species had more genetic relationship among studied groups of species. Analysis of molecular variance indicated 19% among- population variation and 81% within-population variation for the PAL gene based DNA marker. Population structure analysis based on PAL revealed four groups with high genetic admixture among populations. The results establish PAL markers as a functional DNA marker system and provide important genetic information about accessions from wild populations of Pistacia species.

FSPAM:A Feature Construction Method to Identifying Cell Populations in ScRNA-seq Data

The emergence of single-cell RNA-sequencing(scRNA-seq)technology has introduced new information about the structure of cells,diseases,and their associated biological *** of the main uses of scRNA-seq is identifying cell populations,which sometimes leads to the detection of rare cell ***,the new method is still in its infancy and with its advantages comes computational challenges that are just beginning to *** important tool in the analysis is dimensionality reduction,which transforms high dimensional data into a meaningful reduced *** technique allows noise removal,visualization and compression of high-dimensional *** paper presents a new dimensionality reduction approach where,during an unsupervised multistage process,a feature set including high valuable markers is created which can facilitate the isolation of cell *** proposed method,called fusion of the Spearman and Pearson affinity matrices(FSPAM),is based on a graph-based Gaussian *** of the graph theory can be effective to overcome the challenge of the nonlinear relations between cellular markers in scRNA-seq ***,with a proper fusion of the Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficient criteria,it extracts a set of the most important features in a new *** fact,the FSPAM aggregates the various aspects of cell-to-cell similarity derived from the Pearson and Spearman metrics,and reveals new aspects of cell-to-cell similarity,which can be used to extract new *** results of the identification of cell populations via k-means++clustering method based on the features extracted from the FSPAM and different datasets of scRNA-seq suggested that the proposed method,regardless of the characteristics that govern each dataset,enjoys greater accuracy and better quality compared to previous methods.

We reported a quantum mechanical study of the complexes formed between Sm3＋ and the bisphosphonate ligand pamidronate in aqueous solution. According to available experimental p K a values pamidronate was expected to exist in aqueous solution, at physiologically relevant p H, in its di- and tri-protonated forms（denoted by H3 L and H2L）. The most stable structures of the ligands and Sm3＋ complexes were found by using a detailed analysis of the conformational space with semiempirical and DFT methods. The results showed that both H2 L and H3 L bisphosphonates acted as a tridentate ligands in their complexes with Sm3＋. The addition of explicit water molecules to the coordination sphere of the metal not only gave different coordination numbers for H2 L and H3 L complexes（CN=9 and 10）, but also provided different trends in stabilization energies. The results highlighted the importance of considering not only an explicit first coordination shell, but also a second hydration shell, for an adequate description of this type of complexes in aqueous solution.

Accurate 3D Thermal Network Development for Direct-drive Outer-rotor Hybrid-PM Flux-switching Generator

Heat and thermal problems are major obstacles to achieving high power density in compact permanent magnet(PM)***,a comprehensive,accurate,and rapid temperature rise estimation method is required for novel electric machines to ensure safe and reliable operations.A unique three-dimensional(3D)lumped parameter thermal network(LPTN)is presented for accurate thermal modeling of a newly developed outer-rotor hybrid-PM flux switching generator(OR-HPMFSG)for direct-drive ***,the losses of the OR-HPMFSG are calculated using 3D finite element analysis(FEA).Subsequently,all machine components considering the thermal contact resistance,anisotropic thermal conductivity of materials,and various heat flow paths are comprehensively modeled based on the thermal *** the proposed 3-D LPTN,internal nodes are considered to predict the average temperature as well as the hot spots of all active and passive *** measurements are performed on a prototype OR-HPMFSG to validate the efficiency of the 3-D LPTN.A comparison of the results at various operating points between the developed 3-D LPTN,experimental test,and FEA indicates that the 3-D LPTN quickly approximates the hotspot and mean temperature of all components under both transient and steady states with high accuracy.

The effect of platinum(a rare metal)-aluminide coating parameters on the tensile properties of nickel-based superalloy Rene■80 was evaluated at 871℃.For this purpose,initial layers of platinum with different thicknesses(2,4,6 and 8μm)were coated on tensile samples Then,low-temperature high-activity(LTHA)and hightemperature low-activity(HTLA)processes were used for *** of microstructural evaluations using scanning electron microscope(SEM)and phase analysis by X-ray diffraction(XRD)showed a three-layer structure coating for different platinum layer thicknesses and both aluminizing *** the thickness of the platinum layer from 2 to 8μm led to the improvement in the final coating thickness from 91.6 to 102.1μm in *** increase was from 128.1 to 148.6μm in *** results of hot tensile tests at 871℃ showed a decrease in strength properties of the coated samples compared to the uncoated ***,HTLA and high thicknesses of the initial platinum layer showed an intense *** results of fractographic evaluations abou uncoated samples showed a ductile *** the other hand,coated samples showed a simultaneous ductile and brittle fracture failure *** the main fracture morphology was brittle cleavage fracture which was for the HTLA.

Biodegradation of natural and synthetic estrogens in moving bed bioreactor

Estrogen hormones as a group of endocrine disruptive compounds （EDC） can interfere with endocrine system in humans and animals. The goal of this study was to investigate the elimination rate of Estrone （El）, 17β-estradiol （E2） and 17α-ethinyl estradiol （EE2） in Moving Bed Bioreactor （MBBR）. These analytes extracted by Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction （DLLME） technique, followed by derivatization, and detected by GC/MS. Estrogen removal efficiency in MBBR improved at high solid retention times （SRTs）, which notion is owing to development ofnitrification. Estrogenspecificremovalratewasbetween 0,22-1.45μg.（gVSS） 1.d -1 for natural and synthetic hormones. The adsorption rate was 0.9%-3.2% 0-1.3%, and 0.7%-5.7% for E1, E2, and EE2, respectively. In addition, the biodegradation rates were more than 95% for these compounds. These results illustrated that in MBBR, the hiodegradation and the adsorption to biomass are considered as two significant routes for elimination of estrogenic compounds. As a whole, the deterioration rate of estrogens enhanced by MBBR compared to other biological wastewater treatment processes such as conventional activated sludge.

Bacterial endotoxins are a major concern in periodontal health and diseases owing to their structure and biological *** up-to-date knowledge of endotoxins and the recent findings about the influence of endotoxins in dental health,their probable mode of pathogenesis,and standard detection methods,this review analyzes the potential efficacy and benefits of probiotics in combination with conventional and contemporary treatment *** the oral cavity,Gram-negative bacteria are documented to predominate in the pulpal lesions with radiolucent areas and in the root canal with pulp necrosis,where they pose an absolute threat by promoting a series of inflammatory ***,a constituent of Gram-negative bacteria establishes a nexus between cytokine stimulation and proinflammatory reactions,therefore plays a critical role in decaying dental pulp and modulating periodontal ***,the treatment regimen involves several biochemical *** addition,probiotics have been reported to control endotoxin in gingivitis and contribute to the overall improvement of dental health.A potential benefit of a combination of probiotics as a complementary treatment along with the conventional treatment warrant more empirical evidence to elucidate its role and mechanism in resolving the clinical manifestations associated with endotoxins in the periodontal region.
