Growth-promoting bacteria(GPB)have shown promising effects on serving plants against environmental constraints such as ***,simultaneous effects of different GPB have less been considered for arid land plants and under field *** investigated the effects of single and combined application of GPB,including free-living nitrogen-fixing bacteria(NFB),phosphate solubilizing bacteria(PSB),potassium solubilizing bacteria(KSB),a combination of NFB,PSB,and KSB(NPK),and control,at three drought stress *** order to better understand the interactions between drought and GPB,we measured the morphological,biochemical,and physiological plant *** target plant was salt tree(Halimodendron Halodendron(Pall.)Voss),a legume shrub native to arid lands of Central and West *** biofertilizer treatments enhanced the growth,physiology,and biochemistry of salt tree seedlings,and there were significant differences among the *** and PSB treatments increased photosynthetic pigments,but KSB treatment was more efficient in transpiration rate and stomatal regulation and increased the soluble *** treatment had the highest effect on root traits,such as taproot length,root volume,cumulative root length,and the ratio of root to *** treatment enhanced root diameter and induced biomass translocation between root ***,only the application of mixed biofertilizer(i.e.,NPK treatment)was the most significant treatment to improve all plant morphological and physiological characteristics of salt tree under drought ***,our results provided improvement of some specific plant traits simultaneous with application of three biofertilizers to increase growth and establishment of salt tree seedlings in the degraded arid lands.

In the smart city paradigm, the deployment of Internet of Things(IoT) services and solutions requires extensive communication and computingresources to place and process IoT applications in real time, which consumesa lot of energy and increases operational costs. Usually, IoT applications areplaced in the cloud to provide high-quality services and scalable ***, the existing cloud-based approach should consider the above constraintsto efficiently place and process IoT applications. In this paper, anefficient optimization approach for placing IoT applications in a multi-layerfog-cloud environment is proposed using a mathematical model (Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP)). This approach takes into accountIoT application requirements, available resource capacities, and geographicallocations of servers, which would help optimize IoT application placementdecisions, considering multiple objectives such as data transmission, powerconsumption, and cost. Simulation experiments were conducted with variousIoT applications (e.g., augmented reality, infotainment, healthcare, andcompute-intensive) to simulate realistic scenarios. The results showed thatthe proposed approach outperformed the existing cloud-based approach interms of reducing data transmission by 64% and the associated processingand networking power consumption costs by up to 78%. Finally, a heuristicapproach was developed to validate and imitate the presented approach. Itshowed comparable outcomes to the proposed model, with the gap betweenthem reach to a maximum of 5.4% of the total power consumption.

Modern fighters are designed to fly at high angle of attacks reaching 90 deg as part of their routine *** maneuvers generate complex nonlinear and unsteady aerodynamic *** this study,different aerodynamic prediction tools are investigated to achieve a model which is highly accurate,less computational,and provides a stable prediction of associated unsteady aerodynamics that results from high angle of attack *** prediction tools include Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)model,Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Logic Inference System(ANFIS),Fourier model,and Polynomial Classifier Networks(PCN).Themain aim of the predictionmodel is to estimate the pitch moment and the normal force data obtained from forced tests of unsteady delta-winged aircrafts performing high angles of attack *** investigation includes three delta wing models with 1,1.5,and 2 aspect ratios with four determined variables:change rate in angle of attack(0 to 90 deg),non-dimensional pitch rate(0 to.06),and angle of *** a comprehensive analysis of the proposed identification methods,it was found that the newly proposed model of PCN showed the least error in modeling and prediction *** on prediction capabilities,it is seen that polynomial networks modeling outperformed ANFIS and ANN for the present nonlinear problem.

Improving the quality assurance (QA) processes and acquiring accreditation are top priorities for academic programs. The learning outcomes (LOs)assessment and continuous quality improvement represent core components ofthe quality assurance system (QAS). Current assessment methods suffer deficiencies related to accuracy and reliability, and they lack well-organized processes forcontinuous improvement planning. Moreover, the absence of automation, andintegration in QA processes forms a major obstacle towards developing efficientquality system. There is a pressing need to adopt security protocols that providerequired security services to safeguard the valuable information processed byQAS as well. This research proposes an effective methodology for LOs assessment and continuous improvement processes. The proposed approach ensuresmore accurate and reliable LOs assessment results and provides systematic wayfor utilizing those results in the continuous quality improvement. This systematicand well-specified QA processes were then utilized to model and implement automated and secure QAS that efficiently performs quality-related processes. Theproposed system adopts two security protocols that provide confidentiality, integrity, and authentication for quality data and reports. The security protocols avoidthe source repudiation, which is important in the quality reporting system. This isachieved through implementing powerful cryptographic algorithms. The QASenables efficient data collection and processing required for analysis and interpretation. It also prepares for the development of datasets that can be used in futureartificial intelligence (AI) researches to support decision making and improve thequality of academic programs. The proposed approach is implemented in a successful real case study for a computer science program. In a cloud environment, Virtual Machines (VMs) consolidation andresource provisioning are used to address the issues of workload *** consolidation aims to move the VMs from one host to another in order toreduce the number of active hosts and save power. Whereas resource provisioningattempts to provide additional resource capacity to the VMs as needed in order tomeet Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. However, these techniques have aset of limitations in terms of the additional costs related to migration and scalingtime, and energy overhead that need further consideration. Therefore, this paperpresents a comprehensive literature review on the subject of dynamic resourcemanagement (i.e., VMs consolidation and resource provisioning) in cloud computing environments, along with an overall discussion of the closely relatedworks. The outcomes of this research can be used to enhance the developmentof predictive resource management techniques, by considering the awareness ofperformance variation, energy consumption and cost to efficiently manage thecloud resources.

A new structural optimization method of coupled extended finite element method and bound constrained quadratic optimization method(XFEM-BCQO)is adopted to quantify the optimum values of four design parameters for a circular tunnel lining when it is subjected to *** parameters are:tunnel lining thickness,tunnel diameter,tunnel lining concrete modulus of elasticity and tunnel lining concrete ***-Carlo sampling method is dedicated to construct the meta models so that to be used for the BCQO method using matlab *** simulations of the tensile damage in the tunnel lining due to a real earthquake in the literature are created for three design *** approach is used to show the cracks for the mentioned design *** results of the BCQO method for the maximum design case for the tunnel tensile damage was matching the results obtained from XFEM approach to a fair *** new coupled approach manifested a significant capability to predict the cracks and spalling of the tunnel lining concrete under the effects of dynamic earthquakes.

Internal waves are one of the various phenomena that occur at sea,and they affect acoustic equipment and sea density measurement *** this study,internal waves are simulated using computational fluid dynamics method in the presence of a submarine in a pre-stratified *** scenarios were implemented by Froude number changes and submersible velocity by using the Navier-Stokes k-εturbulence *** indicate that the realizable k-εturbulence model gives better results than the RNG k-εmodel and the internal waves flow in this model are well represented,which increases the wavelength of the internal waves by increasing the Froude number and floating velocity,while the internal angle of the Kelvin waves is *** also observe that increasing the floating velocity causes the turbulent velocity contours to increase due to the drag coefficient and its relationship with the Reynolds *** Reynolds number increases with the increasing velocity of the float *** results indicate the efficiency of this method in the discovery of subsurface objects.

The presence of Hg in the aqueous media is known to cause severe health issues in both humans and *** technologies and especially adsorbents have been applied for its removal. In this study, a graphene oxide–carbon composite(GO–CC) as a new adsorbent was prepared by sol gel procedure and characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy, BET and EDX. The effects of different variables including solution p H, contact time, adsorbent dose and GO ratio in adsorbent matrix on the removal capacity of Hg were studied. The isotherm data correlated well with the Langmuir isotherm model. Further analysis recommended that the Hg^(2+) adsorption process is governed by the intra-particle and external mass transfer, in which the film diffusion was the rate restrictive step. The presented composite has maximum absorption capacity, q_(max) of 68.8 mg·g^(-1), which is comparable with carbon based adsorbent reported in the previous publications.

Impact of industrial effluent on growth and yield of rice(Oryza sativa L.) in silty clay loam soil

Degradation of soil and water from discharge of untreated industrial effluent is alarming in Bangladesh. Therefore, buildup of heavy metals in soil from contaminated effluent, their entry into the food chain and effects on rice yield were quantified in a pot experiment. The treatments were comprised of 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% industrial effluents applied as irrigation water. Effluents, initial soil, different parts of rice plants and post-harvest pot soil were analyzed for various elements, including heavy metals. Application of elevated levels of effluent contributed to increased heavy metals in pot soils and rice roots due to translocation effects, which were transferred to rice straw and grain. The results indicated that heavy metal toxicity may develop in soil because of contaminated effluent *** metals are not biodegradable, rather they accumulate in soils, and transfer of these metals from effluent to soil and plant cells was found to reduce the growth and development of rice plants and thereby contributed to lower yield. Moreover, a higher concentration of effluent caused heavy metal toxicity as well as reduction of growth and yield of rice, and in the long run a more aggravated situation may threaten human lives,which emphasizes the obligatory adoption of effluent treatment before its release to the environment, and regular monitoring by government agencies needs to be ensured.
