A systematic review of occupational exposure to respirable coal mine dust(RCMD)in the *** industry

Cumulative inhalation of respirable coal mine dust(RCMD)can lead to severe lung diseases,including coal worker's pneu-moconiosis(CWP),silicosis,mixed dust pneumoconiosis,dust-related diffuse fibrosis(DDF),and progressive massive fibrosis(PMF).Statistics from the number of reported cases showed a significant decrease in the progression of respiratory diseases in the ***,an unexpected increase in the number of CWP cases was reported in the late *** date,there has been no comprehensive systematic review to assess all contributing factors to the resurgence of CWP *** study aims to investigate the effects of various mining parameters on the prevalence of CWP in coal mines.A systematic review using the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis(PRISMA)method was conducted to investigate the health effects of RCMD exposure and identify the factors that may contribute to the recent resurgence of CWP *** systematic review yielded a total of 401 papers,which were added to the *** total number of 148 and 208 papers were excluded from the database in the process of screening and eligibility,***,18 papers were considered for data selection and full-text *** review revealed that factors including geographic location,mine size,mining operation type,coal-seam thickness,coal rank,changes in mining practices,technology advancement,and engi-neering dust control practices are contributing to the recent resurgence of CWP among coal ***,the evidence for root causes is limited owing to the methodological constraints of the studies;therefore,further detailed studies are needed.

An analysis of contributing mining factors in coal workers’pneumoconiosis prevalence in the United States coal mines,1986-2018

In the United States,an unexpected and severe increase in coal miners’lung diseases in the late 1990s prompted researchers to investigate the causes of the disease *** study aims to scrutinize the effects of various mining parameters,including coal rank,mine size,mine operation type,coal seam height,and geographical location on the prevalence of coal worker’s pneumoconiosis(CWP)in surface and underground coal mines.A comprehensive dataset was created using the *** Safety and Health Administration(MSHA)Employment and Accident/Injury *** information was merged based on the mine ID by utilizing SQL data management software.A total number of 123,589 mine-year observations were included in the statistical *** Estimating Equation(GEE)model was used to conduct a statistical analysis on a total of 29,707,and 32,643 mine-year observations for underground and surface coal mines,*** results of the econometrics approach revealed that coal workers in underground coal mines are at a greater risk of CWP comparing to those of surface coal ***,underground coal mines in the Appalachia and Interior regions are at a higher risk of CWP prevalence than the Western *** coal mines in the Appalachian coal region are more likely to CWP development than miners in the Western *** analysis also indicated that coal workers working in smaller mines are more vulnerable to CWP than those in large mine ***,coal workers in thin-seam underground mine operations are more likely to develop CWP.

Determination of antimicrobial resistance profile and inducible clindamycin resistance of coagulase negative staphylococci in pediatric patients: the first report from Iran

Background:Currently,coagulase negative staphylococci(CoNS)have got much attention as a serious health problem especially in neonates and *** incidence of antibiotic resistance,in particular methicillin resistance,has complicated the treatment of these *** aim of this study is to determine the susceptibility to different antimicrobial agents and the prevalence of macrolides-lincosamides-streptogramins B(MLS_(B))resistance in CoNS isolates obtained from pediatric ***:Totally 157 CoNS isolates from various clinical samples were examined for antibiotic resistance using disk diffusion and E-test ***-disk test was applied to detect constitutive and inducible MLSB resistance(cMLS_(B)and iMLS_(B))***:Resistance to methicillin was seen in 98(62.4%)*** isolates were susceptible to vancomycin and *** prevalence of resistance to antibiotics tested was as follows:fusidic acid(n=58,36.9%),gentamicin(n=73,46.5%),ciprofloxacin(n=81,51.6%),clindamycin(n=112,71.3%),erythromycin(n=129,82.2%)and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole(n=133,84.7%).iMLS_(B)phenotype was seen in 14(8.9%)isolates,and 18(11.5%)and 98(62.4%)isolates showed MS and cMLS_(B)phenotypes,*** observed that high overall antibiotic resistance rates were associated significantly with methicillin ***,iMLS_(B)phenotype was correlated neither with methicillin resistance nor with ***:Given the similarity observed between the prevalence of iMLS_(B)and MS phenotypes,the performance of disk diffusion induction test is strongly recommended in our region.

Use of 2-(tert-butoxy)-N-(3-carbamothioylphenyl)acetamide and graphene oxide for separation and preconcentration of Fe(Ⅲ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) ions in different samples

A simple and selective method using a column packed with graphene oxide（GO） as a solid phase extractant has been developed for the multi-element preconcentration of Fe（Ⅲ）,Ni（Ⅱ）,Cu（Ⅱ） and Zn（Ⅱ）ions prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometric *** method is based on the sorption of mentioned ions on synthesized GO using 2-（tert-butoxy）-N-（3-carbamothioylphenyl）acetamide as a chelating *** parameters on the extraction and complex formation were *** the optimized conditions（pH 6,flow rate 9 mL/min）,metal ions were retained on the column,then quantitatively eluted by HNO3solution（5 mL,3.0 mol/L）.The preconcentration factor was calculated *** detection limits for the analyte ions of interest were found in the range of 0.11 ng/mL（Ni2＋） to0.63 ng/mL（Cu2＋）.The column packed with GO was adequate for metal ions separation in matrixes containing alkali,alkaline earth,transition and heavy metal ions.

Using yttrium as an indicator to estimate total rare earth element concentration:a case study of anthracite-associated clays from northeastern Pennsylvania

This study demonstrated using yttrium(Y)as an indicator to estimate the total rare earth element and Y contents(REY)in coal-associated samples and to facilitate selection of samples with high REY assays in a fast and inexpensive *** than 10 anthracite-associated samples were collected from each of three Pennsylvanian sites(sites B,J and C)based on Thorium gamma ray logging suggesting high REY *** samples from each site were analyzed by ICP-MS to determine the rare earth distribution patterns and to establish the site-specific linear equations of Y and *** Y contents of the remaining samples were measured by a portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer,and the REY values were estimated based on the site-specific linear equation developed earlier.R-squared values above 0.70 were obtained for all the estimation equations from all three sites on both a whole sample basis and an ash ***,ash content has been widely used as an indicator of high REY *** may not be applicable for a specific *** B in this study is an example where ash contents could not be statistically correlated with REY,so using Y for estimation is more *** demonstrated sample screening process is suitable for samples from sites that share more similar distribution patterns(either MREY or LREY or HREY)as well as for samples from sites that share multiple distribution patterns(LREY/MREY/HREY)depending on the desirable *** demonstrated process lowers the analytical cost from$70 to 80 dollars per sample to$10-15 per sample while significantly reducing the processing time and acid consumption for ICP *** is particularly true when a relatively large sample size is involved,for example,100 samples from one site analyzed by ICP-MS/OES.

Ecofriendly leaching agents for copper extraction——An overview of amino and organic acid applications

The green transition's push for electrification has substantially increased the demand for copper, making it a critical raw material. This extravagant demand has made it profitable to extract copper from low-grade sulfide ores, which contain less than 0.3wt% copper. However, processing such low-grade ores requires extensive amounts of chemicals, raising environmental concerns. Thus, several investigations have been conducted on non-traditional lixiviants for copper extraction. Surprisingly, few studies have comprehensively reviewed this area to provide a comprehensive understanding and highlight gaps. This review analyzes investigations that have worked on the leaching process of copper into solutions using environmentally friendly reagents, particularly organic acids and amino acids, and compare them to conventional inorganic acids and examines recent advancements in ecofriendly leaching agents, specifically their application in copper leaching. The primary objective is to highlight the significance of these green reagents in mobilizing copper from solid to solution phases. It was highlighted that factors, such as mineralogy, mechanical activation, impurities, particle size, temperature, and initial concentration of the leaching agent, influence the leaching efficiency of organic and amino acids from primary and secondary copper resources. These variables interact in more complex ways than those encountered with conventional leaching methods. Research in this area has shown promising results, both in terms of extraction efficiency and reduced environmental impact, making it an exciting and essential area for further exploration and development. This shift towards using nonconventional lixiviants represents a significant step forward in the quest for more sustainable and environmentally responsible mining practices and recycling processes.

Alcohol consumption for simulated driving performance： A systematic review

Purpose： Alcohol consumption can lead to risky driving and increase the frequency of traffic accidents, injuries and mortalities. The main purpose of our study was to compare simulated driving performance between two groups of drivers, one consumed alcohol and the other not consumed, using a systematic review. Methods： In this systematic review, electronic resources and databases including Medline via Ovid SP, EMBASE via Ovid SP, PsyclNFO via Ovid 5P, PubMed, Scopus, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature （CINHAL） via EBSCOhost were comprehensively and systematically searched. The randomized controlled clinical trials that compared simulated driving performance between two groups of drivers, one consumed alcohol and the other not consumed, were included. Lane position standard deviation （LPSD）, mean of lane position deviation （MLPD）, speed, mean of speed deviation （MSD）, standard deviation of speed deviation （SDSD）, number of accidents （NA） and line crossing （LC） were considered as the main parameters evaluating outcomes. After title and abstract screening, the articles were enrolled for data extraction and they were evaluated for risk of biases. Results： Thirteen papers were included in our qualitative synthesis. All included papers were classified as high risk of biases. Alcohol consumption mostly deteriorated the following performance outcomes in descending order： SDSD, LPSD, speed, MLPD, LC and NA. Our systematic review had troublesome heterogeneity. Conclusion： Alcohol consumption may decrease simulated driving performance in alcohol consumed people compared with non-alcohol consumed people via changes in SDSD, LPSD, speed, MLPD, LC and NA. More well-designed randomized controlled clinical trials are recommended.

Purpose： There are some studies which showed neurofeedback therapy （NET） can be effective in clients with traumatic brain injury （TBI） history. However, randomized controlled clinical trials are still needed for evaluation of this treatment as a standard option. This preliminary study was aimed to evaluate the effect of NET on continuous attention （CA） and short-term memory （STM） of clients with moderate TBI using a randomized controlled clinical trial （RCT）. Methods： In this preliminary RCT, seventeen eligible patients with moderate TBl were randomly allo- cated in two intervention and control groups. All the patients were evaluated for CA and STM using the visual continuous attention test and Wechsler memory scale-4th edition （WMS-IV） test, respectively, both at the time of inclusion to the project and four weeks later. The intervention group participated in 20 sessions of NFT through the first four weeks. Conversely, the control group participated in the same NF sessions from the fifth week to eighth week of the project. Results： Eight subjects in the intervention group and five subjects in the control group completed the study. The mean and standard deviation of participants＇ age were （26.75 ~ 15.16） years and （2Z60 ＋_ 8.17） years in experiment and control groups, respectively. All of the subjects were male. No significant improvement was observed in any variables of the visual continuous attention test and WMS-IV test between two groups （p _~ 0.05）. Conclusion： Based on our literature review, it seems that our study is the only study performed on the effect of NET on TBl patients with control group. NET has no effect on CA and STM in patients with moderate TBI. More RCTs with large sample sizes, more sessions of treatment, longer time of follow-up and different orotocols are recommended.

Integration of Core Data, Well Logs and Seismic Attributes for Identification of the Low Reservoir Quality Units with Unswept Gas in the Carbonate Rocks of the World's Largest Gas Field

Tight zones of the gas bearing Kangan and Dalan formations of the South Pars gas field contain a considerable amount of unswept gas due to their low porosity, low permeability and isolated pore types. The current study, integrates core data, rock elastic properties and 3D seismic attributes to delineate fight and low-reservoir-quality zones of the South Pars gas field. In the first step, the dynamic reservoir geomechanical parameters were calculated based on empirical relationships from well log data. The log-derived elastic moduli were validated with the available laboratory measurements of core data. Cross plots between estimated porosity and elastic parameters based on Young＇s modulus indicate that low porosity zone coincide with high values of Young＇s module. The results were validated with petro- graphic studies of the available thin sections. The core samples with low porosity and permeability are correlated with strong rocks with tight matrix frameworks and high elastic values. Subsequently, rock elastic properties including Young＇s modulus and Poisson＇s ratio along with porosity were estimated by using neural networks from a collection of 3D post-stack seismic attributes, such as acoustic impedance （ALl）, instantaneous phase of AI and apparent polarity. Distinguishing low reservoir quality areas in pay zones with unswept gas is then facilitated by locating low porosity and high elastic modulus values. An- hydrite zones are identified and eliminated as non-pay zones due to their characterization of zero porosi- ty and high Young modulus values. The methodology described has applications for unconventional re- servoirs more generally, because it is able to distinguish low porosity and permeability zones that are po- tentially productive from those unprospective zones with negligible reservoir quality.
