With the expansion of cloud computing,optimizing the energy efficiency and cost of the cloud paradigm is considered significantly important,since it directly affects providers’revenue and customers’***,providing prediction information of the cloud services can be very beneficial for the service providers,as they need to carefully predict their business growths and efficiently manage their *** optimize the use of cloud services,predictive mechanisms can be applied to improve resource utilization and reduce energy-related ***,such mechanisms need to be provided with energy awareness not only at the level of the Physical Machine(PM)but also at the level of the Virtual Machine(VM)in order to make improved cost ***,this paper presents a comprehensive literature review on the subject of energy-related cost issues and prediction models in cloud computing environments,along with an overall discussion of the closely related *** outcomes of this research can be used and incorporated by predictive resource management techniques to make improved cost decisions assisted with energy awareness and leverage cloud resources efficiently.

Spatial pattern of tree diversity and evenness across forest types in Majella National Park,Italy

Background： Estimation of tree diversity at broader scale is important for conservation planning. Tree diversity should be measured and understood in terms of diversity and evenness, two integral components to describe the structure of a biological community. Variation of the tree diversity and evenness with elevation, topographic relief, aspect, terrain shape, slope, soil nutrient, solar radiation etc. are well documented. Methods： Present study explores the variation of tree diversity （measured as Shannon diversity and evenness indices） of Majella National Park, italy with five available forest types namely evergreen oak woods, deciduous oak woods, blacWaleppo pine stands, hop-hornbeam forest and beech forest, using satellite, environmental and field data. Results： Hop-hornbeam forest was found to be most diverse and even while evergreen Oak woods was the lowest diverse and even. Diversity and evenness of forest types were concurrent to each other i.e. forest type which was more diverse was also more even. As a broad pattern, majority portion of the study area belonged to medium diversity and high evenness class. Conclusions： Satellite images and other GIS data proved useful tools in monitoring variation of tree diversity and evenness across various forest types. Present study findings may have implications in prioritizing conservation zones of high tree diversity at Majella.

Reinforcement inside the concrete is protected from corrosion and its damages until several years after the construction. After corrosion initiation, the cross section of reinforcement begins to reduce and often load bearing of the reinforced concrete structure will be reduced significantly. Corrosion of reinforcements in concrete in polluted and contaminated areas can occur in two ways: chloride and carbonation. In this work, meta-heuristic approach of charged system search(CSS) is used to calculate corrosion occurrence probability due to chloride ions penetration. The model efficiency is verified by comparing the available examples in technical literature and results of Monte Carlo analysis. According to the analyses performed, using different probabilistic distributions regardless of probabilistic moments based on real distribution leads to diverse results. In addition, influence of each effective parameter in corrosion occurrence varies by changing other parameters.

This study was undertaken to investigate the tensile properties and hot tearing susceptibility of cast Al–Cu alloys containing excess Fe(up to 1.5 wt%)and Si(up to 2.5 wt%).According to the results,the optimum tensile properties and hot tearing resistance were achieved at Fe/Si mass ratio of 1,where theα-Fe phase was the dominant Fe *** the Fe/Si mass ratio above unity increased the amounts of detrimentalβ-Cu Fe platelets in the microstructure,deteriorating the tensile properties and hot tearing *** the mass ratio below unity increased the size and fraction of Si needles and micropores in the microstructure,also impairing the tensile properties and hot tearing *** investigation of hot-torn surfaces revealed that theβ-Cu Fe platelets disrupted the tear healing phenomenon by blocking interdendritic feeding channels,while theα-Fe intermetallics improved the hot tearing resistivity due to their compact morphology and high melting point.

Bioinspired Soft Bending Actuators (SBA) are increasingly being used in rehabilitation, assistant robots, and grippers. Despite many investigations on free motion modeling, understanding how these actuators interact with the environment requires more detailed research. It is caused by high compliance and nonlinearity of bioinspired soft material, which leads to serious challenges in contact conditions. In this paper, a continuous deformation analysis is presented to describe the free motion nonlinear behavior of the actuator. Based on the achieved result, this study proposes static modeling of SBA affected by a concentrated external force. For this purpose, the finite rigid element method is utilized, which is based on discretizing the actuator into smaller parts and assuming these parts as rigid serial links connected by nonlinear torsional springs. To verify the proposed model, two kinds of forces are considered to be acting on the actuator, i.e. following force and constant direction force. In addition, the effect of gravity on the actuator configuration is also investigated. The validity of the model has been demonstrated through experiments in free motion, contact conditions and the presence of gravity. It generally shows that the prediction error of robot configuration is lower than 7.5%.

Effect of Alkali and Silane Treatments on Mechanical and Fibre-matrix Bond Strength of Kenaf and Pineapple Leaf Fibres

Natural fibres are very versatile materials, their properties vary with chemical composition and physical structure. The effects of alkali, silane and combined alkali and silane treatments on the mechanical （tensile）, morphological, and structural properties of Pine Apple Leave Fibres （PALF） and Kenaf Fibres （KF） were investigated with the aim to improve their com- patibility with polymer matrices. The effectiveness of the alkali and saline treatments in the removal of impurities from the fibre surfaces was confirmed by Scanning Electron Microscopy （SEM） and Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometry （FTIR） ob- servation. The morphological study of treated PALF and KF by SEM indicates that silane treated fibres have less impurities and lignin and hemicelluloses removed than those by other chemical treatments. Silane treated PALF and KF display better tensile strength than those of untreated, alkaline and NaOH-silane treated. Droplet test indicates that the lnterfacial Stress Strength （IFSS） of alkali and silane treated PALF and KF are enhanced whereas silane treated fibres display highest IFSS. It is assumed that fibre treatments will help to develop high performance KF and PALF reinforced polymer composites for industrial appli- cations.

An experimental investigation of the shock-buffet phenomenon subject to unsteady pitching supercritical airfoil around its quarter chord has been conducted in a transonic wind *** model was equipped with pressure taps connected to the fast response *** were conducted at different free-stream Mach number from 0.61 *** principle goal of this investigation was to experimentally discuss the shock-buffet criterion over a SC(2)-0410 supercritical pitching related to the hysteresis loops of total drag and trailing edge pressure,the behaviour of the shock wave foot location,the pressure distribution over the upper surface,and by implementing the wavelet analysis of the normal *** ensure capturing the buffet phenomenon by utilizing these criteria,a pressure port has been drilled exactly at the trailing edge of the airfoil where its output was used to detect the buffet phenomenon for different *** representation of the flow using the shadow graph flow visualization technique for different test cases is further used to illustrate the unsteady shock wave motion.A comparative analysis of experimental measurements shows that the conducted criteria confirm each other when the buffet phenomenon occurs at the position of the oscillating cycle.

In this study,an Al2O3/MoS2 nanocomposite coating was created on an aluminum 1050 substrate using the plasma electrolytic oxidation *** zeta potential measurements showed that small MoS2 particles have negative potential and move toward the anode *** nanoparticles of MoS2 were found to have a zeta potential of-25 mV,which prevents suspension in the ***,to produce an Al2O3/MoS2 nanocomposite,one has to use the microparticles of *** X-ray diffraction analyses showed that the produced coatings containedα-Al2O3,γ-Al2O3,and MoS2,and that the size of MoS2 particles can be reduced to 30 *** was observed that prolonged suspension in the electrolyte results in an enhanced formation of an Al2O3/MoS2 *** the results,it was hypothesized that the mechanism of the formation of the Al2O3/MoS2 nanocomposite coating on the aluminum 1050 substrate is based on electrical energy discharge.
