Location awareness in wireless networks is essential for emergency services,navigation,gaming,and many other *** article presents a method for source localization based on measuring the amplitude-phase distribution of the field at the base *** existing scatterers in the target area create unique scattered field interference at each source *** unique field interference at each source location results in a unique field signature at the base station which is used for source *** the proposed method,the target area is divided into a grid with a step of less than half the *** grid node is characterized by its field signature at the base *** signatures corresponding to all nodes are normalized and stored in the base station as fingerprints for source *** normalization of the field signatures avoids the need for time synchronization between the base station and the *** a source transmits signals,the generated field signature at the base station is normalized and then correlated with the stored *** maximum correlation value is given by the node to which the source is the *** simulations and results of experiments on ultrasonic waves in the air show that the ultrasonic source is correctly localized using broadband field signatures with one base station and without time *** proposed method is potentially applicable for indoor localization and navigation of mobile robots.

The wadi dahab delta is in a dry, arid coastal zone within Egypt’s south Sinai Peninsula’s eastern portion. The primary water source is the Quaternary coastal alluvial aquifer. The groundwater salinity varies from 890to 8213 mg/L, with a mean value of 3417 mg/L. The dissolved major ions have been used to calculate the seawater mixing index(SWMI) using a linear equation that discriminates the groundwater mostly affected by water–rock interaction(SWMI 1>) and other samples mixed with Seawater(SWMI < 1). The isotopic composition of groundwater for specifically chosen groundwater samples ranges from-0.645‰ to +5.212‰ for δ^(18)O and from-9.582‰ to + 22.778‰ for δ^(2)H, where the seawater represented by a Red Sea water sample(δ^(18)O + 1.64‰-δ^(2)H + 9.80‰) and reject brine water are considerably enriched the isotopic groundwater values. The geochemical NETPATH model constrained by the dissolved significant ions, isotopes, and the rock aquifer forming minerals as phases indicate the mixing percent with the seawater ranges from 9% to 97% of seawater from 91% to 3% of original recharge water. According to the SEAWAT 3-D flow models, seawater has penetrated the Northeastern Dahab delta aquifer, with the intrusion zone extending1500 m inland. The salt dissolution, upwelling of saline water, recharge from the upstream mountain block, and seawater encroachment are the primary aspects contributing to the deterioration of groundwater quality. These findings may have significance for effective groundwater withdrawal management in arid locations worldwide with similar hydrogeological systems.

Background: The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the main structure that prevents the forward movement of the tibia about the femur Meniscus tear which is a common finding in patients with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Aim: To investigate the prevalence of types of meniscus tears in patients with Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted among inpatients. Clinical evaluation included side-to-side difference in anterior tibial translation (ATT) as measured by a KT-1000 arthrometer (MEDmetric Corp) and a grade of pivot-shift test at final follow-up in all patients. Subsequent meniscal tear was defined by symptoms of joint line pain and/or locking or joint effusion requiring surgical treatment. Results: Most of patients were males (92.6%). The patients were categorized into 5 groups according to age with a mean of age 32.8 ± 10.6. The most common causes of ACL injury were falling down (43.2%), trauma (38.1%) or knee torsion (18.8%). Medial meniscal tear was found in 92 knees (55.7%), while lateral meniscal tear was found in 19 knees (10.8%) and the most common type was the longitudinal tear that was found in 31 knees (17.6%). Similarly, 66.7% of the meniscal flap tears and half of the meniscal bucket-handle tears were significantly associated with loose body (P Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that meniscus tears are more common in individuals with chronic ACL rupture. The main factors contributing to ACL injury were classified as falls, trauma, and knee torsion. Gender was identified as a critical determinant in the etiology of ACL injury. The occurrence of a ramp lesion was associated longitudinal meniscal tears, whereas chodoral injury was associated with the majority of meniscal flap tears and meniscal bucket-handle tears.

Static Poisson’s ratio(vs)is crucial for determining geomechanical properties in petroleum applications,namely sand *** models have been used to predict vs;however,the published models were limited to specific data ranges with an average absolute percentage relative error(AAPRE)of more than 10%.The published gated recurrent unit(GRU)models do not consider trend analysis to show physical *** this study,we aim to develop a GRU model using trend analysis and three inputs for predicting n s based on a broad range of data,n s(value of 0.1627-0.4492),bulk formation density(RHOB)(0.315-2.994 g/mL),compressional time(DTc)(44.43-186.9 μs/ft),and shear time(DTs)(72.9-341.2μ s/ft).The GRU model was evaluated using different approaches,including statistical error *** GRU model showed the proper trends,and the model data ranges were wider than previous *** GRU model has the largest correlation coefficient(R)of 0.967 and the lowest AAPRE,average percent relative error(APRE),root mean square error(RMSE),and standard deviation(SD)of 3.228%,1.054%,4.389,and 0.013,respectively,compared to other *** GRU model has a high accuracy for the different datasets:training,validation,testing,and the whole datasets with R and AAPRE values were 0.981 and 2.601%,0.966 and 3.274%,0.967 and 3.228%,and 0.977 and 2.861%,*** group error analyses of all inputs show that the GRU model has less than 5% AAPRE for all input ranges,which is superior to other models that have different AAPRE values of more than 10% at various ranges of inputs.

Seasonal Abundance and Diversity of Birds of Prey and Owls in Al Wathba Wetland Reserve in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Inland wetlands in Abu Dhabi Emirate are wintering and stopover sites for migratory birds of prey. We conducted long-term regular monitoring surveys in Al Wathba Wetland Reserve (AWWR) from January 1995 to December 2022. Both diurnal and occasionally nocturnal surveys were undertaken to record the migratory raptors and owls in the Wetland Reserve. During the study, a total of 1282 regular monitoring visits were undertaken and 27 species of diurnal raptors and owls representing five families and three orders were detected. These represent 57% of the total species of birds of prey recorded in the UAE. Overall, 63% of all the species that we observed were Accipitriformes followed by 26% Falconiformes and 11% Strigiformes. We found that changes in mean daily temperature have a positive effect on raptor species diversity and abundance in the Wetland Reserve. The species encounter rate was higher in low temperature as compared to high temperature and overall regression equation was statistically significant F (4, 1126) = 8.49), p = 0.00). However, the numbers of raptors did not vary significantly across the years (p = 0.51). Western Marsh-harrier (Circus aeruginosus) and Greater Spotted Eagle (Clanga clanga) were recorded to be the most abundant species in the wetland reserve followed by Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus). However, the encounter rate of globally threatened Greater Spotted Eagle was detected to have significantly decreased since 2016. Moreover, 63% of the species detected were uncommon and rarely recorded such as 1) Saker Falcon 2) Lanner Falcon 3) Long-eared Owl & Merlin, which were the rare records from the wetland reserve. Furthermore, 27 years of regular monitoring in the wetland have yielded diverse diurnal raptors and owl fauna (H) = 0.83, (E) = 1.43 (Shannon Diversity Index). BACKGROUND Delayed sternal closure(DSC)can be a lifesaving approach for certain patients who have undergone cardiac *** value of the type of prophylactic antibiotics in DSC is still *** To investigate clinical outcomes of different prophylactic antibiotic regimens in patients who had DSC after cardiac *** This was a retrospective observational single-center ***-three consecutive patients who underwent cardiac surgery and had an indication for DSC were *** were subjected to two regimens of antibiotics:Narrow-spectrum and broad-spectrum *** The main outcome measures were length of hospital and intensive care unit(ICU)stay,duration of mechanical ventilation,and *** the 53 patients,12(22.6%)received narrow-spectrum antibiotics,and 41(77.4%)received broad-spectrum *** mean age was 59.0±12.1 years,without significant differences between the *** mean duration of antibiotic use was significantly longer in the broad-spectrum than the narrowspectrum group(11.9±8.7 vs 3.4±2.0 d,P<0.001).The median duration of open chest was 3.0(2.0-5.0)d for all patients,with no difference between groups(P=0.146).The median duration of mechanical ventilation was significantly longer in the broad-spectrum group[60.0(Δinterquartile range(IQR)170.0)h vs 50.0(ΔIQR 113.0)h,P=0.047].Similarly,the median length of stay for both ICU and hospital were significantly longer in the broadspectrum group[7.5(ΔIQR 10.0)d vs 5.0(ΔIQR 5.0)d,P=0.008]and[27.0(ΔIQR 30.0)d vs 19.0(ΔIQR 21.0)d,P=0.031].Five(9.8%)patients were readmitted to the ICU and 18(34.6%)patients died without a difference between *** Prophylactic broad-spectrum antibiotics did not improve clinical outcomes in patients with DSC post-cardiac surgery but was associated with longer ventilation duration,length of ICU and hospital stays vs narrow-spectrum antibiotics.

Occurrence and ecotoxicological risk assessment of pesticides in sediments of the Rosetta branch,Nile River, Egypt

This study aimed to(1) monitor the occurrence and spatiotemporal variations of 100 pesticides in sediments collected monthly from July 2018 to June 2019 from sampling sites in El-Rahawy, Sabal, and Tala, along the Rosetta branch of the Nile River, Egypt, and(2) perform an ecological risk assessment for aquatic organisms upon exposure to the detected sediment pesticides based on the risk quotient(RQ) method. Out of the 100 pesticides monitored, 16 pesticides belonging to seven chemical families were detected, and 55% of the sediment samples were contaminated with one or more pesticide residues. The mean concentration(mg/kg dry weight(dw)) and detection frequency(%) of the four most frequently detected pesticides in the sediment samples were as follows: chlorpyrifos(0.18 mg/kg dw and 34%), p,p-DDE(0.018 mg/kg dw and 30%), cypermethrin(0.03 mg/kg dw and 14%), and deltamethrin(0.026 mg/kg dw and 13%). The spatial distribution exhibited that El-Rahawy had the highest pesticide load(2.86 mg/kg dw) among the studied sites, whereas the temporal variations revealed that the highest total pesticide concentrations were detected in winter season(1.73 mg/kg dw). Meanwhile, 12 pesticides showed high RQs(>1), posing a potential ecological risk to aquatic species that live and feed on such sediments.

Infections of patients from consumption of contaminated pharmaceutical products constituted major health risk problems. Medicinal products are liable to microbial intrusion during in-use application. The current study focused on repeated contamination with constant level of microbiological burden by two bacteria viz. Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were used as dose-response models for infection through two different routes of administration. Nine different forms of insulin vials were subjected to this type of simulation study at constant assumed level of contaminations, preservative efficacy test(PET) and dose potency. Multi-spot contamination imitation study showed that initial fast rise in contamination, followed shortly by longer but steeper slope which finally turned into higher rate of contamination during the few last doses of the unit dosage forms, where the volume of the product became increasingly and progressively very small. When the probability of infection curves was constructed, both S. aureus and P. aeruginosa showed same pattern, with notably higher risk from septicemia route of the latter rather than subcutaneous route of the former. The present simulation study showed that continuous use of the same contaminated syringe progressively increased the risk of infection, especially at final few doses(between 3th and 10 th last doses depending on the dosage form sizes in the vials and the administration volumes) of the product. Small volume parenterals(SVP) are especially products at higher risk than the larger volume ones.
