Combined Action of Copper with IAA on Individual Amino Acids and Microelement in Pods of Two Broad Bean Cultivars

It is worthy to mention that the two broad bean cultivars displayed a surprising situation during the fruiting stage of growth. The absolute amount of pods yield was higher in cv. Assiut 125 than in cv. Assiut 84. This situation was in contrast with that in the vegetative stage, where cv. Assiut 84 produced greater vegetative growth than cv. Assiut 125. Although the cv. Assiut 84 was less affected by the highest dose of copper, the cv. Assiut 125 was greatly affected by this dose. However, another surprising situation was recorded when the absolute values of fresh and dry matter of cv. Assiut 125 were much higher than cv. Assiut 84 at any used copper concentration. The fresh matters of the pods of cv. Assiut 84 and cv. Assiut 125 were 7.24 and 10.16 gm at the level of control and 6.69 and 7.59 gm at the level of 350 ppm Cu, respectively. Their dry matters were 1.99 and 3.52 gm at the level of control and 1.77 and 2.13 gm at the level of 350 ppm Cu2+ in cv. Assiut 84 and cv. Assiut 125, respectively. This contradiction was also extended when these copper-affected cultivars were sprayed by IAA. The cv. Assiut 84 responded slightly to IAA treatment. On the other hand, a considerable increase in the dry matter yield was recorded in the pods of cv. Assiut 125 at any used level of copper when compared to the non-sprayed plants treated by the same copper concentration. At the level of 350 ppm Cu2+ , the pod yield was 2-fold that of plants treated only by 350 ppm Cu2+ , without IAA spraying. Thus, even IAA behaved differently in its effect on the crop yield of the two tested broad bean cultivars. There are big and surprising variations in the accumulation of microelements and heavy metals in pods among the two broad bean genotypes, whatever the treatments used. Compact Bluetooth/UWB Antenna with Multi-Band Notched Characteristics

A small-sized, low-profile, and planar dual band antenna for Bluetooth (2.4 - 2.484 GHz) and ultra-wideband (UWB) (3.1 - 10.6 GHz) with multi-band notched antennas is presented. Two antennas A and B with different types of slots are used to obtain tri-band notched characteristic. In antenna A notched bands, 5 - 6 GHz for WLAN, and 3.3 - 4 GHz for WiMAX, are achieved using a U-slot in ground structure and in the radiating patch. In antenna B two notched bands at 3.3 - 4 GHz, for WiMAX and 7.2 GHz for C-band satellite communication systems are achieved by using a U-slot in ground structure and a H-shaped slot in the radiating patch. The radiation characteristics of the two antennas are calculated using a commercial EM simulator based on Finite Element Method (FEM) and the Finite Integration Technique (FIT). The two antennas show acceptable gain flatness with stable omnidirectional radiation patterns across the integrated Bluetooth and UWB bands.

Yield and Quality Response of Ryegrass, Egyptian Clover and Their Mixtures to Different Sources of Fertilizers

Two field experiments were conducted during two successive winter seasons of 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 to investigate the potentialities of mixing Egyptian clover with ryegrass under bio, organic and mineral fertilization treatments and their combination to increase forage yield and quality grown under sandy soil conditions. The experiment included the combination of five mixing ratios (Egyptian clover alone, ryegrass alone, 75% Egyptian clover: 25% ryegrass, 50% Egyptian clover: 50% ryegrass and 25% Egyptian clover: 75% ryegrass) and eight fertilizer sources, which include control, organic fertilization, bio fertilization, chemical fertilizer, organic + bio fertilizer, organic + chemical fertilizer, bio + chemical fertilizer and combination of organic and chemical and bio fertilizers. The obtained results indicate the superiority of 75% E. clover: 25% ryegrass mixture fertilizedby Bio + O + N in fresh and dry forage production. On the other hand, it reported the lowest dry weight of weeds g/m2. Chemical analysis of forage plants showed that the mixture of ?75% E. clover: 25% ryegrass surpassed that of other treatments yield for crude protein, ether extract and ash. The results also revealed that the highest record of DCP, crude fiber and TDNY was obtained by forage mixture of 75% E. clover: 25% ryegrass fertilized with Bio + O + N. Such higher yield of these characters hassecured a balanced ratio which is really needed for ruminants ration.

Low Ankle Brachial Index in Acute Ischemic Stroke: Does ApoE Gene Polymorphism Have a Role?

Background: The existence of asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease among patients with acute ischemic stroke has been studied and proved. Low ankle brachial index (ABI) is considered as a marker of atherosclerosis, and its relation to stroke severity was documented in some studies. The effect of different alleles of ApoE gene on acute ischemic stroke presentation in patients with low ABI is not known. Objective: To study the effect of ApoE gene polymorphism on stroke severity, outcome and recurrence in patients with asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease identified by low ABI. Methods: Patients with acute ischemic stroke were screened for the presence of asymp-tomatic peripheral arterial disease by estimating the ABI using a pocket Doppler ultrasound device. Assay of ApoE gene was done using the real-time PCR technique. Results: Low ABI was present in 31% of patients with acute ischemic stroke. There was no significant difference among patients with different ApoE alleles regarding the severity of their symptoms. Also, there was no significant difference among patients with normal ABI and those with abnormal ABI regarding the ApoE gene polymorphism. Conclusion: The current study showed that there was no significant relation between ApoE gene polymorphism and low ABI in ischemic stroke patients who had asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease.

This paper presents a proposed low cost high efficiency solar cell structure. The main advantage of the structure is that it is etched through a p + silicon wafer. Highly doped silicon is considered to be low quality and impure silicon therefore the structure based on low cost starting material. In addition, the proposed structure is etched as strips through the wafer so its series resistance is very low. This result in high fill factor. Simulations for the structure are carried out using advanced TCAD tools. I - V C/C'S is presented. The open circuit voltage (V oc ), short circuit current density (J sc ), fill factor (F.F) and conversion efficiency are calculated. The output results are compared with the high efficiency;high cost single crystalline solar cells. In addition, an important study is carried out to enhance the structure to be responded to the ultraviolet part of the solar radiation spectrum. For this study, external quantum efficiency is presented as this is the best way for measuring the structure performance for each part of the input solar radiation spectrum.

Evaluation of CD64 Index in HBV and in Chronic HCV Infections

Background and aims: CD64 [Fc gamma receptor 1 (FcγRI)] is a promising biomarker used in predicting severe bacterial infection. The study was designed to assess their level in all stages of HBV infection and in chronic HCV infection before and after treatment with direct acting antiviral therapy as a possible biomarker of inflammation. Patients and methods: A case-control study was conducted, 50 patients with different disease stages of HBV infection (10 acute, 15 chronic hepatitis, 15 liver cirrhosis (LC) and 10 with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)), twenty patients with chronic HCV and 15 as a control group. Laboratory and imaging studies were evaluated. The levels of CD64 expressions in peripheral blood and CD64 Index were measured for all patients by flowcytometry using fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-conjugated anti-CD64 monoclonal antibody. Results: The levels of CD64 expressions in peripheral blood and CD64 index were significantly higher in patients with HBV and HCV than in control group (P value = 0.01, 0.01 and 0.000, 0.000 respectively). They were increased significantly with disease progression in patients with HBV infection, acute hepatitis B infection showed the highest values. Their levels were significantly decreased in patients with HCV infection post treatment than before treatment. Conclusions: The levels of CD64 expressions in peripheral blood and CD64 index are considered good biomarkers of inflammation in viral hepatitis both B and C and could detect disease progression and also suppression of inflammation after antiviral therapy.

Effect of Interaction Phenolic Compounds with Milk Proteins on Cell Line

Plant flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds, commonly found in vegetables, fruits and many food sources that form a significant portion of our diet. These compounds act as anticancer and anti-proliferative but after interaction with milk proteins they form complexes which become less effective than these compounds alone. Investigation has been conducted to delineate the action of some phenolic compounds of natural origin and complexes formed from interactions between phenolic compounds and milk proteins in three human tumors cell lines: Breast (MCF7), Liver (HePG2) and colon (HCT116), these interactions were studied by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Phenolic compounds have positive effect on human cancer cell lines but after interaction with milk protein and forming complexes, they become less effective than phenolics and some time have negative effect and become pro-cancer;this interaction can be studied by (FTIR) to know which groups do this complex. The spectra were recorded under conditions generally applied in quantitative work. IR spectra were recorded in the region from 4000 - 250 cm–1, but the bands in the region 4000 - 1400 cm–1 were analyzed in detail, since they are characteristic of OH groups while NH groups appeared at (3000 - 4000 cm–1) of various protonic species that undergo hydrogen bonding interaction. Another region of interest was the region from 1800 - 1400 cm–1, characteristic of the bending vibrations of the same group. Since the bands in this region were wide and complex.

The impact of vascular risk factors multiplicity on severity of carotid atherosclerosis—A retrospective analysis of 1969 Egyptian subjects

Background and Purpose: Carotid atherosclerosis has been recognized as a major cause of stroke. The cur-rent study aimed to describe the effect of multiplicity rather than the type of vascular risk factors on severity of carotid atherosclerosis among a large sample of Egyptian population. Methods: We analyzed the data of 1969 Egyptian subjects, who proved to have extra cranial carotid atherosclerotic disease by duplex scanning at the vascular laboratories of Cairo Uni-versity Hospitals. Demographic, clinical data and causes of referral were recorded and correlated with ultrasound findings. Atherosclerotic indices, namely IMT, plaque number and percentage of stenosis were used for evaluation of severity of carotid atherosclerosis. Furthermore, subjects were classified according to multiplicity of major atherosclerotic risk factors and multivariate regression analysis was performed to detect independent predictors of significant carotid disease. Results: Out of 1969 subjects with proved signs of extracranial carotid atherosclerosis by duplex ultrasonographic scan, 225 (11.4%) showed hemody-namic significant stenosis (≥50%). Multiplicity of risk factors beyond the age of 50 years was the strongest predictor of significant stenosis. Conclusion: Age more than 50 years and multiplicity rather than the type of risk factors were the strongest predictors of significant carotid atherosclerotic disease (CAD).

Part 1: Synthesis and Evaluation of Novel Nano Scale Powdered Polyurethane Acrylate Binders

Some new an aqueous polyurethane acrylate (waterborne binder) based on polyethylene glycol with different M. wt. mixed with polyol were carried out. Seven different polyurethane acrylate co-polymers were prepared aiming at substituting the two hydroxyl groups of polyethylene glycol (6000, 12,000 and 20,000 g/mol) and two primary hydroxyl groups of polyol through their reaction with corresponding calculated amounts of either isophorone diisoyanate or toluene diisocyanate and caped the remaining isocyanate group with either hydroxy ethyl acrylate or hydroxy propyl methacrylate to get on the polyurethane acrylate polymers [PUA]. From DSC measurement the result of Tg of synthesized PUA are in range from -8.78℃ to 36.4℃. So they can classify as soft binders. The infrared spectra, rheological properties, viscosity measurement, the weight average molecular weight, of the synthesize binders were investigated.
