Histopathological characteristics and causes of kidney graft failure in the current era of immunosuppression

BACKGROUND The histopathological findings on the failing kidney allograft in the modern era is not well studied. in this study, we present our experience working with kidney transplant recipients with graft failure within one year of the *** To report the histopathological characteristics of failed kidney allografts in the current era of immunosuppression based on the time after transplant, cause of the end-stage renal disease and induction immunosuppressive *** in a single-center observational study, we characterized the histopathological findings of allograft biopsies in kidney transplant recipients with graft failure within one year after the *** We identified 329 patients with graft failure that met the selection criteria between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2016. The three most common biopsy findings were interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy(iFTA, 53%), acute rejection (AR, 43%) and transplant glomerulopathy(TG, 33%). Similarly, the three most common causes of graft failure based on the primary diagnosis were AR(40%),TG(17%), and iFTA(13%). Most grafts failed within two years of post-transplant(36%). Subsequently, approximately 10%-15% of grafts failed every two years: >2-4 years(16%), > 4-6 years(13%), > 6-8 years(11%), > 8-10 years(9%) and > 10 years(16%). AR was the most common cause of graft failure in the first six years(48%), whereas TG was the most prevalent cause of graft failure after 6 years(32%) of *** in the current era of immunosuppression, AR is still the most common cause of early graft failure, while TG is the most prevalent cause of late graft failure.

We report an extremely rare tumor presenting with myoid features in the left cerebellum lobe in a 62-year-old man. This tumor consisted of medium to large round cells with focal lipomatous and myoid differentiation. immunohistochemically, the tumor cells expressed synaptophysin, GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) and focally desmin. From these findings, we concluded that this tumor was a liponeurocytoma with myoid features. To our knowledge, this is the second report of liponeurocytoma with myoid differentiation in the cerebellum.

The present paper involves firstly in the studies of corrosion properties of Al 6061 metal matrix composites reinforced with varying percentage of uncoated and Cu coated silicon carbide in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution using weight loss method. The processing route used for the composites was stir casting technique. Mass loss and corrosion rate measurements were utilized as criteria for evaluating the corrosion behavior of composites. The surface morphology of composites after the corrosion test is determined by using scanning electron microscopy. it has been observed that copper as reinforcement coating reduces the corrosion resistance of composites in comparison to uncoated reinforcements and monolithic alloy.

The present study is aimed to serve a small community living on Stand-Alone Solar-Energy (S.A.S.E.S) system. As a basis for the study 1 cubic meter of hydrogen is to be produced by electrolysis in 5 hrs that requires energy input of 5 KW-hr. The proposed system consists of the following main components: photovoltaic module, water electrolyzer and fuel cell. Solar hydrogen production by water electrolysis is described and design parameters are specified. Economic feasibility of the proposed system is evaluated. The projected cost of hydrogen is calculated and found to be 5 cents/ft3.

AA （Alopecia areata） is the most frequent cause of inflammation-induced hair loss, affecting 0.1 to 0.2% of population worldwide. The development of organ-specific autoimmune reactions directed against anagen hair follicles seems to play a key role in the pathogenesis of alopecia areata. However, the triggering antigen（s） responsible for inducing autoimmune phenomena in these individuals remain unknown. Viral, bacterial or fungal pathogens have been implied as possible triggering factors of autoimmune reactions. The present study aims to identify the role of dematiaceous fungi in the pathogenesis of alopecia areata. 30 patients diagnosed clinically as alopecia areata and 30 normal age matched persons have undergone mycological examination. Mycology examination of the epidermal scrapings was done by DME （direct microscopic examination）, culture on SDA （sabouraud＇s dextrose agar） and imaging. There is significantly higher percentage of positive results for Alternaria species by culture on sabouraud＇s agar in patients group （20%） compared to controls （13.3%） P-value 〈 0.05. The possible role of Alternaria antigens （e.g. antigens involved in melanin synthesis） in triggering autoimmunity in alopecia areata still needs further research on a wider scale of cases.

Objective:To investigate the length distribution,sex ratio,length-weight relationship,age and growth of Rostroraja alba in the Gulf of ***:This study estimated age and growth of the white skate,Rostroraja alba by counting vertebral band pairs from 112 specimens taken by commercial fisheries during 2006-2009 from the Gulf of Gabes(Southern Tunisia,Central Mediterranean Sea).Results:This is the first and only known information in regards to the age and growth of this species in *** diameter was strongly correlated with total length and age,which were expressed by linear or cubic regression *** oldest female in this study was 35 years and 160 cm,whereas the oldest male was 32 years and 150 *** von Bertalanffy growth parameters were TL_(∞)=(202.26±3.40)cm,K=(0.040±0.038)/year and t_(0)=(1.84±0.01)10^(-1)/year for females and TL_(∞)=(198.60±3.61)cm,K=(0.060±0.076)/year and t_(0)=(1.28±0.04)/year for ***:This study would be an effective tool for fishery biologists,managers and conservationists to initiate management strategies and regulations for the sustainable conservation of the remaining stocks of this species in the Gulf of Gabes(Southern Tunisia)ecosystem.

Stubborn disease of citrus is one of the main causes of quality deterioration of citrus fruits in Egypt. The early detection and the molecular characterization of the causal agent are vital for revealing its real distribution and for management. in 2011, several samples were collected at different times of the year from stubborn suspected symptomatic trees within the main citrus growing area in Egypt, the Nile-delta region. After culturing the causal agent on artificial LD8 media from the field fresh samples, two new and improved methods of biological indexing were set up and compared with the traditional method in order to increase the detection efficiency by increasing the greenhouse transmission rate;which reached 85% with the new inverse inoculation method. Different PCR primer pairs were evaluated for their detection efficiency of the Egyptian isolates of Spiroplasma citri and the most specific primer pair for these local isolates was determined. improving the efficiency of biological indexing, along with determining the most specific and efficient PCR primer pair for the detection, will enhance and facilitate the citrus certification programs in Egypt, making them better tools for the early detection of stubborn disease. Furthermore obtained Egyptian isolates were characterized molecularly by the analysis of the obtained sequences showing close relationship with the Moroccan strain (Gii3).

The low modulation bandwidth of deep-ultraviolet(UV) light sources is considered as the main reason limiting the data transmission rate of deep-UV communications. Here, we present high-bandwidth Ⅲ-nitride microlight-emitting diodes(μLEDs) emitting in the UV-C region and their applications in deep-UV communication systems. The fabricated UV-C μLEDs with 566 μm2 emission area produce an optical power of 196 μW at the 3400 A∕cm2 current density. The measured 3 dB modulation bandwidth of these μLEDs initially increases linearly with the driving current density and then saturates as 438 MHz at a current density of 71 A∕cm2, which is limited by the cutoff frequency of the commercial avalanche photodiode used for the measurement. A deep-UV communication system is further demonstrated. By using the UV-C μLED, up to 800 Mbps and 1.1 Gbps data transmission rates at bit error ratio of 3.8 × 10-3 are achieved assuming on-off keying and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing modulation schemes, respectively.
