Green Internet of things （loT） has been heralded as the ＂next big thing＂ waiting to be realized in energy-efficient ubiquitous computing. Green IoT revolves around increased machine-to-machine communications and encompasses energy-efficient wireless embedded sensors and actuators that assist in monitoring and controlling home appliances. Energy efficiency in home applications can be achieved by better monitoring of the specific energy consumption by the appliances. There are many wireless standards that can be adopted for the design of such embedded devices in loT. These communication technologies cater to different requirements and are classified as the short-range and long-range ones. To select the best communication method, this paper surveys various loT communication technologies and discusses the advantages and disadvantages to develop an energy monitoring system. An IoT device based on the Wi-Fi technology system is developed and tested for usage in the home energy monitoring environment. The performance of this system is then evaluated by the measurement of power consumption metrics. In the efficient deep-sleep mode, the system saves up to 0.3 W per cycle with an average power dissipation of less than 0.1 W/s.

Recently, wireless distributed computing （WDC） concept has emerged promising manifolds improvements to current wireless technotogies. Despite the various expected benefits of this concept, significant drawbacks were addressed in the open literature. One of WDC key challenges is the impact of wireless channel quality on the load of distributed computations. Therefore, this research investigates the wireless channel impact on WDC performance when the tatter is applied to spectrum sensing in cognitive radio （CR） technology. However, a trade- off is found between accuracy and computational complexity in spectrum sensing approaches. Increasing these approaches accuracy is accompanied by an increase in computational complexity. This results in greater power consumption and processing time. A novel WDC scheme for cyclostationary feature detection spectrum sensing approach is proposed in this paper and thoroughly investigated. The benefits of the proposed scheme are firstly presented. Then, the impact of the wireless channel of the proposed scheme is addressed considering two scenarios. In the first scenario, workload matrices are distributed over the wireless channel

Recently, relay agents selection schemes were introduced to support downlink multicasting in WiMAX single frequency networks. Such schemes were devised to work cooperatively in order to facilitate reliable Multicast Broadcast Multimedia Services (MBMS) traffic delivery over wireless channels without any consideration to mobile relay agents’ battery energy levels. In this paper, we introduce a battery-aware balancing algorithm to operate in conjunction with these relay agents selection schemes proposed in the open literature. A simulation model, used to present the effect of “before” and “after” the battery–awareness selection criterion, highlighted the benefit of using such algorithms in prolonging network lifetime with emphasis on reliable delivery.

This paper presents a probabilistic methodology for linear fracture mechanics analysis of cracked structures. The main focus is on probabilistic aspect related to the nature of crack in material. The methodology involves finite element analysis; sta- tistical models for uncertainty in material properties, crack size, fracture toughness and loads; and standard reliability methods for evaluating probabilistic characteristics of linear elastic fracture parameter. The uncertainty in the crack size can have a significant effect on the probability of failure, particularly when the crack size has a large coefficient of variation. Numerical example is presented to show that probabilistic methodology based on Monte Carlo simulation provides accurate estimates of failure prob- ability for use in linear elastic fracture mechanics.

Recent years have witnessed an increase in the quantity of waste glass(WG)across the *** the fine aggregate with WG is one of the steps toward preserving the natural resources of the environment and creating low-cost *** present study is concerned with replacing fine aggregates with glass powder(GP)at(0%,15%,30%,and 50%).It has studied the fresh and hardened properties(compressive strength,tensile strength,hardened density,and slump)for all the mentioned percent *** findings have shown that all mixtures containing GP gave acceptable slump results within the design limits(2–5 cm)according to ACI standard *** has been observed that increasing the proportion of GP led to a decrease in the weight of ***,replacing GP with sand by 30%has led to an increase in the compressive strength by about 2.4%and 12.45%,and the tensile strength by about 2.5%and 26.54%at 7-and 28-d,respectively in comparison to normal concrete.

The average bit-error rate （ABER） performance of free-space optical （FSO） communication links is investigated for space-shift keying （SSK） over log-normal and negative-exponential atmospheric turbulence channels. SSK is compared with repetition codes and a single-input single-output system using multiple pulse amplitude mod- ulations. Simulation results show that the signal-to-noise ratio gain of SSK largely increases with greater spectral efficiencies and/or higher turbulence effects. A tight bound for ABER is derived based on an exact moment generation function （MGF） for negative-exponential channel and an approximate MGF for log-normal channel. Finally, extensive Monte Carlo simulations are run to validate the analytical analysis.

Spherulitic morphology of pure poly lactic acid (PLLA) PLLA have investigated after thermal annealing. The morphology of spherulite of pure poly lactic acid (PLLA) PLLA have investigated after thermal annealing. The effect of both annealing temperature and crystallization temperature on the formation of cracks was described by polarized optical microscope (POM). Non banded spherulite (fibrils) with cracks was detected in PLLA film after annealing at 160°C (180 min.) and isothermal crystallization temperatures at 140°C and 150°C. With increasing temperature after annealing treatment the size of spherulite is increased and more cracks are formed. The maximum growth rate of spherulites was found at 130°C. The physical ageing was carried out by annealing the PLLA sample at room temperature for several annealing time (ta) from 0 h to 720 h. The enthalpy relaxation has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) through analysis of the endothermic peak of glass transition temperature, which increased and shifted towards higher temperature as the annealing time increased.

This paper studies the total factor productivity （TFP） of banks in Malaysia with the emphasis on comparing the relative productivities of Islamic and Conventional banks. The Malmquist index approach is used to decompose productivity growth into technical efficiency and technological change. The productivity growth is measured and decomposed into technical change and efficiency change. The efficiency change is further decomposed into pure efficiency change and scale efficiency. It is found that Islamic banks＇ productivity growth is limited by its lack of technological change compared to its conventional counterparts. Nonetheless, both types of banks are operating at the correct level in terms of scale or size.
