Preliminary Palynostratigraphic Data on the Middle Albian-Lower Cenomanian of the Tarfaya Basin, Southwest Morocco

The Tarfaya-Laayoune-Boujdour basin is of great interest to oil exploration;on this aspect, there has been exploration by the Moroccan National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mining, which has shown indices of oil and/or gas recorded in most wells drilled in the Moroccan Atlantic margin. FD-1 well, object of this study, is one of these wells located in the offshore Tarfaya-Laayoune-Boujdour basin. A palynological examination of the processed samples revealed the existence of organic palynomorphs, well conserved and rich in dinoflagellate cysts. The latter are composed of worldwide marker taxa of high stratigraphic resolutions. Thus, the middle upper Albian (3408 - 3408.5 m) is determined by the presence of Cribroperidinium tensiftense, Tehamadinium coummia, Spiniferella cornuta, Chichaouadinium vestitum, Dinopterygium alatum and Litosphaeridium arundum. The upper Albian (3406.5 - 3408 m) is characterized by the FOs of marker taxa: Cyclonephelium chabaca, Cribroperidinium auctificum and Chichaouadinium vestitum. Lastly, the upper Albian-lower Cenomanian transition is defined between 3404 m and 3406.50 m, as suggested by the FOs of Chichaouadinium boydii, Dinopterygium tuberculatum, Sepispinula ancorifera, Litosphaeridium conispinum, Prolixosphaeridium conulum and Xenascus ceratioides.

Geochemical Record of the Cenomanian-Turonian Anoxic Event in Tunisia:Is it Correlative and Isochronous to the Biotic Signal?

In Tunisia, five Bahloul spaced sections, Bargou, Jerisa, Guern Halfaya, Kherij and Gafsa were analyzed for biostratigraphy （foraminifera and radiolarians） and major and trace elements. This high-resolution biostratigraphic and chemostratigraphic integrated analyses for the Late Cenomanian-Early Turonian Bahloul Formation provide new insight into the palaeoceanographic evolution of the southern Tethyan margin. Relative low abundance of related terrigenous Ti/Ai and K/ Al ratios and enrichment of some productivity proxies such as Ba, Cu, and Ni （organic matter related trace elements） suggests that the Bahloul, deposited during a relatively short period （0.5 Ma）, was of relatively elevated primary productivity and minimal detrital input. While higher D＊ values concurrent with lower Ti/AI ratios are interpreted as caused by enhanced fluvial material contribution, due to more humid climate during the OAE-2. Enhanced humidity triggered probably fluvial influxes, resulted in a sluggish water circulation and consequent anoxic/euxinic conditions favoring the preservation of organic matter at the bottom. Enrichments in redox-sensitive trace metals U, V, and Mo in the Bahloul Formation deposits and redox indices, such as V/（V＋Ni）, U/Th, V/Cr, and Ni/Co, indicate that oxygen-restricted conditions prevailed during the Late Cenomanian to earliest Turonian times and correlate well with relative abundances of some foraminiferal and radiolarian paleo- environmental relevant indicators. High Ba~ values and Uauth may indicate anoxic conditions at least at the water-sediment interface during the Bahloul Formation deposition and provide information about low to moderate sulfate-reduction reactions.

The paper presents a parametric study on interpolation techniques based postprocessed error estimation in finite element elastic analysis by varying important parameters of recovery,interpolation scheme and type of patch *** quality of error estimation with recovery parameters is compared in terms of local and global effectivity of error estimation,rate of error convergence,and adaptively refined meshes.A mesh free moving least square interpolation technique with proven reliability and effectivity is introduced for improving the recovery of finite element solution *** post-processed finite element solutions of elastic problems are presented for performance study under different parameters of recovery *** study concludes that recovery parameters of interpolation method have pronounced effect on the recovery of finite element solution error and analysis in adaptive environment.

Imagery assessment is an efﬁcient method for detecting craniofacial anomalies.A cephalometric landmark matching approach may help in orthodontic diagnosis,craniofacial growth assessment and treatment *** landmark matching and anomalies detection helps face the manual labelling lim-itations and optimize preoperative planning of maxillofacial *** aim of this study was to develop an accurate Cephalometric Landmark Matching method as well as an automatic system for anatomical anomalies classiﬁ***,the Active Appearance Model(AAM)was used for the matching *** pro-cess was achieved by the Ant Colony Optimization(ACO)algorithm enriched with proximity ***,the maxillofacial anomalies were classiﬁed using the Support Vector Machine(SVM).The experiments were conducted on X-ray cephalograms of 400 patients where the ground truth was produced by two *** frameworks achieved a landmark matching error(LE)of 0.50±1.04 and a successful landmark matching of 89.47%in the 2 mm and 3 mm range and of 100%in the 4 mm *** classiﬁcation of anomalies achieved an accuracy of 98.75%.Compared to previous work,the proposed approach is simpler and has a comparable range of acceptable matching cost and anomaly classiﬁ*** have also shown that it outperformed the K-nearest neigh-bors(KNN)classiﬁer.

Lidar, a technology at the heart of autonomous driving and robotic mobility, performs 3D imaging ofa complex scene by measuring the time of flight of returning light pulses. Many technological challenges,including enhancement of the observation field of view (FoV), acceleration of the imaging frame rate,improvement of the ambiguity range, reduction of fabrication cost, and component size, must besimultaneously addressed so that lidar technology reaches the performance needed to strongly impact theglobal market. We propose an innovative solution to address the problem of wide FoV and extendedunambiguous range using an acousto-optic modulator that rapidly scans a large-area metasurface *** further exploit a multiplexing illumination technique traditionally deployed in the context of telecommu-nication theory to extend the ambiguity range and to drastically improve the signal-to-noise ratio of themeasured signal. Compacting our metasurface-scanning lidar system to chip-scale dimension would opennew and exciting perspectives, eventually relevant to the autonomous vehicles and robotic industries.

Genetic and morphological divergence in the purple sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus(Echinodermata,Echinoidea)across the African Mediterranean coast

The present investigation focuses on population structure analysis of the purple sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus across the African Mediterranean coast, with the main aim of assessing the influence of the Siculo-Tunisian Strait on gene flow disruption in this highly dispersive echinoid species. For this purpose, patterns of morphological and genetic variation were assessed among its populations from the western and eastern Mediterranean coasts. A total of 302 specimens from seven Tunisian sites were collected and examined for morphometric variability at twelve morphometric traits. Concordant results, inferred from CDA（canonical discriminant analyses）, pairwise NPMANOVA（non parametric multivariate analysis of variance） comparisons and MDS（multidimensional scaling） plot, unveiled significant inter-population differences in the measured traits among the studied populations. Furthermore, the combined use of the one way ANOSIM（analysis of similarities） and the Discriminant/Hotelling analysis allowed unravelling two morphologically differentiated groups assigned to both western and eastern Mediterranean basins. The SIMPER（similarity percentages） routine analysis showed that total dry weight, test diameter and spine length were major contributors to the morphometric separation between locations and between groups. Pattern of phenotypic divergence discerned in P. lividus across the Siculo-Tunisian Strait is interestingly in congruence with that inferred from the genetic investigation of the purple sea urchin populations from the same region based on the analysis of the mt DNA COI（cytochrome oxidase I） gene in 314 specimens from nineteen locations covering a wider geographic transect, streching westward to the Algerian coast and eastward to the Libyan littoral. In field control of Botrytis cinerea by synergistic action of a fungicide and organic sanitizer

A new Integrated Pest Management program based on the combination of synthetic pesticide with a GRAS （generally recognized as safe）-classified sanitizer for the control of Botrytis cinerea in field conditions was described. The aim behind this research was to determine whether the use of this mixture would enhance the efficiency of pesticides while decreasing the recommended dose. Naturally infected tomato plants, grown in the greenhouse, were treated with two commonly used fungicides SWITCH （Syngenta, Switzerland） and SIGNUM （BASF, Germany） each alone or combined with a commercially available organic sanitizer PERACLEAN？5 （Evonik Industries, Germany）. A total of 27 treatments were tested consisting of three concentrations of synthetic fungicide （×1, ×1/2 and ×1/4 of the recommended dose） either applied separately or combined with three concentrations of the tested sanitizer （0.5, 1 and 1.5％）. The control efficacy achieved by the fungicides applied alone ranged between 0 and 66.7％ while all fungicide-sanitizer mixtures resulted in up to 70％ control of grey mould. The treatment that provides the maximum control of B. cinerea was the result mixture of ×1/4 of the recommended concentration of SWITCH （15 g L-1） with 0.5％ of PERACLEAN？5. This combination suppressed 85％ of grey mold infections while decreasing the usually used amount of this pesticide by 75％, reducing therefore the well known negative impacts of chemical pesticides on environment and consumers health.

Experimental Testing of Cellular Construction Materials Containing Flax Particles

The feasibility of a sustainable non-autoclaved cellular concrete,based on flax vegetable co-products,for the production of usable specimen in the lightweight construction field,has been investigated *** produced specimen,containing various volume ratios of flax particles with respect to preformulatd Tradical PF70 lime binder of 0,1,and 2,were lightened by creating a porous structure in the matrix through the addition of 0.3%*** powder(able to react with calcium hydroxide from the binder and result in microscopic air-bubbles).Fresh and hardened specimen properties,including hydration,fresh density,porosity,hardened density,compressive and flexural strengths,toughness energy,and dry thermal conductivity at different temperatures,were assessed for varying flax-to-binder *** have shown that the addition of Aluminum powder leads to restrain the setting time delay of binder-based ***,the hardened material displays a significant decrease in specimen density,thereby resulting in a compressive strength level compatible with that required in the cellular construction materials *** also highlighted the ability of added flax to induce a change in the specimen from brittle to ductile ***,a high degree of thermal insulation can be achieved,which makes the cellular specimen based on flax particle suitable as insulated-bearing walls material.

The present investigation focuses on population genetic structure analysis of the endangered giant clam species Tridacna maxima across part of the Red Sea,with the main aim of assessing the influence of postulated potential barriers to gene flow(i.e.,particular oceanographic features and marked environmental heterogeneity)on genetic connectivity among populations of this poorly dispersive bivalve *** this purpose,a total of 44 specimens of *** were collected from five sampling locations along the Saudi Arabian coast and examined for genetic variability at the considerably variable mitochondrial gene cytochrome c oxidase I(COI).Our results revealed lack of population subdivision and phylogeographic structure across the surveyed geographic spectrum,suggesting that neither the short pelagic larval dispersal nor the various postulated barriers to gene flow in the Red Sea can trigger the onset of marked genetic differentiation in ***,the discerned shallow COI haplotype genealogy(exhibiting high haplotype diversity and low nucleotide diversity),associated with recent demographic and spatial expansion events,can be considered as residual effect of a recent evolutionary history of the species in the Red Sea.
