Residual stresses induced during turning processes can affect thequality and performance of machined products,depending on its direction and *** stresses can be highly detrimental as they can lead to creeping,fatigue,and stress corrosion *** final state of residual stresses in a workpiece depends on its material as well as the cutting-tool configuration such as tool geometry/coating,cooling and wear conditions,and process parameters including the cutting speed,depth-ofcut and ***,there have been disagreements in some literatures regarding influences of the abovementioned factors on residual stresses due to different cutting conditions,tool parameters and workpiece materials used in the specific *** review paper categorizes different methods in experimental,numerical and analytical approaches employed for determining induced residual stresses and their relationships with cutting conditions in a turning *** is presented for the effects of different cutting conditions and parameters on the final residual stresses state.

A numerical-model-based approach was recently developed for estimating the changes in both the horizontal and vertical loading conditions induced by an approaching longwall *** this approach, a systematic procedure is used to estimate the model's *** along the bedding planes is modeled with ubiquitous joint elements and interface *** is modeled with a newly developed coal mass *** response of the gob is calibrated with back analysis of subsidence data and the results of previously published laboratory tests on rock *** model results were verified with the subsidence and stress data recently collected from a longwall mine in the eastern United States.

Effect of butylated hydroxytoluene on quality of pre-frozen and frozen buffalo semen

Objective: to clarify the antioxidant effect of butylated hydroxytoulene (BHt) at different concentrations on cooled and post frozen semen diluted in tris-citrate-fructose egg yolk glycerol and lecithin -based extenders. Methods: Forty ejaculates were harvested from four buffalo bulls by means of the artificial vagina. Ejaculated semen samples were diluted with each of the tris citrate-fructose egg yolk glycerol and lecithin-based extender diluents. the semen samples diluted with each of the two extenders were added to pre-warmed dried test tubes containing BHt (prepared in ethanol) to get concentrations at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mM/mL BHt. these ingredients were put at 37 ℃ for 5 min to allow the proper BHt spermatozoal permeation. the diluted semen samples were cooled to 5 ℃ and then frozen to -196 ℃ in 0.25 mL ministraws before dipping in liquid nitrogen pending its evaluation. Sperm motility, viability, morphology, intact acrosome and membrane integrity were tested. Visual motility was tested using a high power ordinary microscope (at 400 × ) with closed circuit television, and sperm concentration was tested using Neubauer haemocytometer and abnormality % using eosin-nigrosin stain. Spermatozoal membrane integrity was tested using the hypo-osmotic swelling test. the sperm with swollen twisting tail was normally intact. Sperm acrosomal integrity % was tested as mentioned by Watson. Results: Addition of BHt improved (Ptility, viability, morphology and acrosome as well as plasma membrane integrities at 0.5-2.0 mM/mL depending upon types of used extenders and stages of pre-and post-freezing process. Higher levels of 2.5 and 3.0 mM/mL BHt had a deteriorating (Pt if compared to the control and all extenders assayed. Conclusions: BHt addition at lower concentration can improve pre-frozen and post-thawed buffalo sperm quality.

techniques for colorectal anastomosis

Colorectal anastomotic leak remains one of the most feared post-operative complications, particularly after anterior resection of the rectum with, the shift from abdomino-peritoneal resections to total mesorectal excision and primary anastomosis. the literature fails to demonstrate superiority of stapled over hand-sewn techniques in colorectal anastomosis, regardless of the level of anastomosis, although a high stricture rate was noted in the former technique. thus, improvements in safety aspects of anastomosis and alternatives to handsewn and stapled techniques are being sought. Here, we review alternative anastomotic techniques used to fashion bowel anastomosis. Compression anastomosis using compression anastomotic clips, endoluminal compression anastomotic rings, AKA-2, biofragmental anastomotic rings, or Magnamosis all involve the concept of creating a sutureless end-to-end anastomosis by compressing two bowel ends together, leading to a simultaneous necrosis and healing process that joins the two lumens. Staple line reinforcement is a new approach that reduce the drawbacks of staplers used in colorectal practice, i.e. leakage, bleeding, misfi ring, and inadequate tissue approximation. Various nonabsorbable, semi or fully absorbable materials are now available. two other techniques can provide alternative anastomotic support to the suture line: a colorectal drain and a polyester stent, which can be utilized in ultra-low rectal excision and can negate the formation of a defunctioning stoma. Doxycycline coated sutures have been used to overcome the post-operative weakness in anastomosis secondary to rapid matrix degradation mediated by matrix metalloproteinase. Another novel technique, the electric welding system, showed promising results in construction of a safe, neat, smooth sutureless bowel anastomosis. the novel Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has begun in China and is still affecting thousands of patient livesworldwide *** X-ray and Computed tomography are the gold standardmedical imaging modalities for diagnosing potentially infected COVID-19 cases,applying Ultrasound(US)imaging technique to accomplish this crucial diagnosing task has attracted many physicians *** this article,we propose two modified deep learning classifiers to identify COVID-19 and pneumonia diseases in US images,based on generative adversarial neural networks(GANs).the proposed image classifiers are a semi-supervised GAN and a modifiedGANwith auxiliary *** one includes a modified discriminator to identify the class of the US image using semi-supervised learning technique,keeping its main function of defining the“realness”of tested *** tests have been successfully conducted on public dataset of US images acquired with a convex US *** study demonstrated the feasibility of using chest US images with two GAN classifiers as a new radiological tool for clinical check of COVID-19 *** results of our proposed GAN models showed that high accuracy values above 91.0%were obtained under different sizes of limited training data,outperforming other deep learning-based methods,such as transfer learning models in the recent ***,the clinical implementation of our computer-aided diagnosis of US-COVID-19 is the future work of this study.

Characterization of Wheat Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA Markers Associated with the H11 Hessian Fly Resistance Gene

In tunisia, the Hessian fly Mayetiola destructor Say is a major pest of durum wheat （triticum durum Desf.） and bread wheat （t. aestivum L.）. Genetic resistance is the most efficient and economical method of control of this pest. to date, 31 resistance genes, designated H1-H31, have been identified in wheat. these genes condition resistance to the insect genes responsible for virulence. Using wheat cultivars differing for the presence of an individual Hessian fly resistance gene and random amplified polymorphic DNA （RAPD） analysis, we have identified a polymorphic 386-bp DNA marker （Xgmib1-1A.1） associated with the H11 Hessian fly resistance gene. Blast analysis showed a high identity with a short region in the wild wheat （t. monococcum） genome, adjacent to the leaf rust resistance Lr10 gene. A genetic linkage was reported between this gene （Lr10） and Hessian fly response in wheat. these data were used for screening Hessian fly resistance in tunisian wheat germplasm. Xgmib1-1A.1-like fragments were detected in four tunisian durum and bread wheat varieties. Using these varieties in Hessian fly breeding programs in tunisia would be of benefit in reducing the damage caused by this fly.

A uniform experimental design(UED)is an extremely used powerful and efficient methodology for designing experiments with high-dimensional inputs,limited resources and unknown underlying models.A UED enjoys the following two significant advantages:(i)It is a robust design,since it does not require to specify a model before experimenters conduct their experiments;and(ii)it provides uniformly scatter design points in the experimental domain,thus it gives a good representation of this domain with fewer experimental trials(runs).Many real-life experiments involve hundreds or thousands of active factors and thus large UEDs are *** large UEDs using the existing techniques is an NP-hard problem,an extremely time-consuming heuristic search process and a satisfactory result is not *** paper presents a new effective and easy technique,adjusted Gray map technique(AGMt),for constructing(nearly)UEDs with large numbers of four-level factors and runs by converting designs with s two-level factors and n runs to(nearly)UEDs with 2^(t−1)s four-level factors and 2tn runs for any t≥0 using two simple transformation *** justifications for the uniformity of the resulting four-level designs are given,which provide some necessary and/or sufficient conditions for obtaining(nearly)uniform four-level *** results show that the AGMt is much easier and better than the existing widely used techniques and it can be effectively used to simply generate new recommended large(nearly)UEDs with four-level factors.

Mineralogy,Chemical Characteristics and Upgrading of Beach Ilmenite of the top Meter of Black Sand Deposits of the Kafr Al-Sheikh Governorate,Northern Egypt

Egyptian beach ilmenite occurs in a relatively high content in the naturally highly concentrated superficial black sand deposits at specific beach zones in the northern parts of the Nile Delta at Rosetta. Microscopic study shows that the ilmenite occurs as fresh homogeneous black or heterogeneous multicoloured altered grains and exhibits three types （homogeneous, exsolved and altered） of ilmenite varieties. XRD data of ilmenite indicates their association with minor hematite and quartz, whereas leucoxene shows its association with Nb-rutUe, pseudorutile and hematite. Grain size distribution suggests a very fine sand size of 〉89% and 80% and a fine sand size of 10.5% and 18.3% for fresh and altered ilmenites, respectively. the density of fresh, altered ilmenite and leucoxene concentrates varies from 2.70, 2.50 to 2.40 ton/m^3, suggesting a gradual decrease from high grade fresh to leucoxene and consistent with variation in magnetic susceptibility as a consequence of the leaching of iron. Mass magnetic susceptibility reveals 97.6% of ilmenite and 92% of the altered form are obtained at 0.20 and 0.48 ampere. Fresh iimenite exhibits variable tiO2 （47.18%） and Fe2O3^t （46.10%） with minor MnO, MgO and Cr2O3 （1.22, 1.10 and 0.51%）. the altered ilmenite is higher in tiO2 （76.16%） and SiO2 （4.68%） and lower in Fe2O3^t （14.45%）, MnO, MgO and Cr2O3 （0.39, 0.52 and 0.11%） compared with the fresh form. three concentrates of ilmenites （G1, G2 and G3） were prepared from crude ore using a Reading cross belt magnetic separator under different conditions, revealing a gradual increase of tiO2, SiO2, Al2O3 and CaO accompanied by a decrease of Fe2O3^t, MgO and Cr2O3 with repetition of the separation processes. Several ore dressing techniques were carried out to upgrade the iimenite concentrate.

Morphological and physiological responses to drought stress of carob trees in Mediterranean ecosystems

Introduction:Forest cover in Hungary has increased from 1.1 to 2.0 million hectares during the last *** EU(European Union)promotes further afforestation;thus,15,000–18,000 ha are being forested each year,mainly in the Hungarian Great *** terms of species used for afforestation,poplar plantations are preferred over native oak *** groundwater uptake of trees can be a significant water balance element of forested areas in shallow groundwater environments within the Hungarian Great *** can cause water table depressions and subsurface salt accumulation in areas with negative water *** study examined the hydrological impact of forest cover in the Hungarian Great *** the framework of this research,climatic water balance,water table depth and salinity,subsoil layering,tree species and stand age were analysed as influencing *** paper compares the effect which an oak forest,a poplar plantation and a pasture have on groundwater uptake and salt ***:the water table level was roughly 0.4–0.5 m lower beneath the oak forest and the poplar plantation than it was beneath the *** groundwater use was 1.5–2 times higher than that of *** uptake of oak forest was greater than that of poplar plantation during the monitoring *** accumulation,which shows water use in the longer run,was slightly higher for poplar in deeper ***:the greater amount of groundwater used by trees does not lead to a higher salt uptake as only a slight accumulation of salt was measured beneath the ***,hybrid poplar was slightly less favourable than native oak when considering salinization ***,even greater groundwater uptake by trees over longer timescales could cause more significant salt accumulation under pronounced drought conditions due to climate change.
