In the present investigation, the tensile properties of A356/Al2O3 nanocomposites at both ambient and elevated temperatures were studied. The A356/Al2O3 nanocomposites were fabricated using a combination between the rheocasting and squeeze casting techniques. The A356 matrix alloy was reinforced with Al2O3 nanoparticulates having average sizes of 60 nm and 200 nm with different volume fractions up to 5 vol%. The results revealed that the A356/Al2O3 nanocomposites exhibited better mechanical properties than the A356 monolithic alloy. Such improvement in the mechanical properties was observed at both room and elevated temperatures up to 300°C. Increasing the volume fraction and/or reducing the size of Al2O3 nanoparticulates increase both the tensile and yield strengths of the nanocomposites.

Background and Aims: Erector spinae plane block, Paravertebral block and serratus anterior block are three formats for analgesia post-operatively following radical mastectomy. This study compares the analgesic efficacy of these modalities for analgesia post-operatively by articaine 2% with adrenaline. Methods: Seventy-five patients with ASA physical status I or II subjected to modified radical mastectomy with axillary clearance were enrolled for the study. After induction of general anaesthesia all patients received 20 mL 2% articaine with adrenaline in each technique of the study. Patients in Group 1 (Erector spinae block [ESB], n = 25), Group 2 paravertebral block [PVB] n = 25), Group 3 (serratus anterior plane block [SAPB] n = 25) were ultrasound-guided on ipsilateral side. Patients were estimated for pain scores at 0, 2, 4, 6, 12 and 24 h, and duration of analgesia post-operatively and relieve analgesic doses required of morphine up to 24 h. Results: Visual analogue scale scores post-operatively were lower in ESB and PVB group compared with SAPB at 4, 6, 12 and 24 h (P P Conclusion: Sonar-guided erector spinae block and thoracic paravertebral block minimize post-operative pain scores, prolongs the duration of analgesia and diminishes requirements for assigning analgesics in the first 24 h of post-operative period compared to ultrasound-guided serratus anterior plane block but, ESB technique was more potent, easily and less side effect in compared with PVB.

Introduction: Haemodialysis is the most well-established form of treatment for ESRD. Method: To evaluate the implementation of standard criteria in heamodialysis water treatment units in Sharkia governorate and to determine the weak points in application of standard criteria, and reach the optimal standards to improve pt. outcomes, across the sectional study was conducted at 30 heamodialysis units of Sharkia governorate, using a modified questionnaire was developed based on MOH protocol and international guidelines such as CARI guidelines, AAMI guidelines and others by the researchers. All data were collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed using SPSS 22.0 for windows (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: Of the 30 units, the majority more than 80% of the units achieved the infrastructure and schematic structure, contain water purification devices, good infection control policies, proper chemical disinfection, good monitoring and quality control, accepted maintenance technician evaluation and collected processed water samples results matched decree of 63 for 1996. Conclusion: Most of the studied units nearly fulfilled the standard specifications of both MOH and AAMI. Ensuring that water quality meets AAMI standards and recommendations will minimize patient exposure to potential contaminants such as chemical hazards and endotoxemia associated with the use of the treated water for HD.

A geographic information system (GIS) is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of geographical data. The key word to this technology is Geography—this means that some portion of the data is spatial. In other words, data that is in some way referenced to locations on the earth. The goal of this study is to evaluate how precisely waterlogging can be identified from medium-goals satellite pictures utilizing EWIS list. The point is to distinguish and mapping of the waterlogged territories in the piece of Farafra Desert Oasis of Egypt. To complete this identification, Landsat-8 symbolism and geographical sheets (1:50,000) have been utilized and handling through Envi 5.3 and Circular segment GIS 10.3, with field perceptions. The waterlogged regions have positive change (+), anyway grounds have negative change (−). Land has been diminished while water bodies have upward pattern. These waterlogged zones have been mapped at a general exactness of 99.22%. The primary explanations behind this descending rate are mostly improvement and anthropogenic mediations. The investigation shows utility of reconciliation of remote detecting and GIS systems for evaluation of waterlogged territories especially in districts where waterlogging conditions happen both because of over the top water system and poor waste. This investigation is recommended that an appraisal of water logging utilizing remotely detected information ought to be completed at customary interims.

Background: Tracheal extubation is related to many side effects of hemodynamic, especially for patients with comorbid states. The study compared the validity of dexmedetomidine 1 μg/kg and low combination dose of dexmedetomidine 0.5 μg/kg plus Lidocaine 1 mg/kg in softening hemodynamic stress response and estimated quality of extubation in study groups. Materials and Methods: The patients in our study, one hundred and fifty of both gender, ASA class I &II patients, aged 20 - 50 years old subject to elective abdominal operations under general anesthesia were allocated into three equal groups. Anesthetic technique was standardized. Before extubation by 10 minutes, the patients in Group N, D, and DL have given 0.9% normal Saline intravenous bolus infusion, dexmedetomidine 1 μg/kg and Dexmedetomidine 0.5 μg/kg, respectively within a 10-minute period. Before complete extubation by 90 seconds, in the three groups by syringe ten cc volumes and at time of extubation, Group N and D patients received 0.9% normal Saline intravenous bolus infusion, but in Group DL received Lidocaine 1 mg/kg then extubation completed. Heart rate (HR), Diastolic BP (DBP), Systolic BP (SBP), and Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) were noted at baseline, at the reverse, extubation, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 min and at the regular times after that for two hours. Extubation quality was assessed by extubation quality scale. Aldrete’s recovery score and Ramsay sedation score were also recorded and also any complications were noted and recorded. Results: All the hemodynamic parameters significantly elevated extubation and numerous periods of observation in the normal saline group than dexmedetomidine and dexmedetomidine plus Lidocaine group (p-value = 0.001). Response of tachycardia was seen in 41 (82%) in patients of N group, compared to 18 (36%) and 20 (40%) in D & DL group respectively (p = 0.001). Objectives: To evaluate the postoperative analgesic yield of continuous intra-articular (IA) ropivacaine/tramadol infusion as against infusion of ropivacaine alone after total knee arthroplasty. Patients and Methods: Sixty patients accompanied by arthrosis were randomly divided into three equal groups: The ropivacaine group, which obtained a continuous intraarticular (IA) infusion of ropivacaine alone;the combination group, which obtained a continuous (IA) infusion of a combination of ropivacaine and tramadol at a rate of 6 ml/h for 72 h postoperatively;and the control group, which did not receive IA medications. After release of the ischemic tourniquet and assurance of haemostasis, a vacuum drainage tube was applied. The (IA) infusion was delivered through a multipored catheter for 72 h. Postoperative pain was assessed using visual analogue pain scale (VAS), and intravenous meperidine was administered as rescue analgesia if the (VAS) pain score was greater than or equal to (4) or on patient’s request. The total rescue analgesia consumption, angle of flexion of the knee and hospital stay were recorded. Results: The ability to achieve better angle of flexion was significantly higher in the combination group compared with the other groups, with a significant difference in favour of the ropivacaine group compared with the control group. At 2 h postoperatively, the mean pain (VAS) scores were significantly lower in patients who received (IA) analgesia compared with the control group and in the ropivacaine/tramadol group versus the ropivacaine group. The number of requests and total dose of rescue analgesia consumed were significantly lower with (IA) analgesia, with a significant difference in favour of the combination group. There was significant correlation between pain (VAS) scores and angle of flexion of the knee joint. This paper deals with the Bayesian inferences of unknown parameters of the progressively Type II censored Weibull-geometric (WG) distribution. The Bayes estimators cannot be obtained in explicit forms of the unknown parameters under a squared error loss function. The approximate Bayes estimators will be computed using the idea of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method to generate from the posterior distributions. Also the point estimation and confidence intervals based on maximum likelihood and bootstrap technique are also proposed. The approximate Bayes estimators will be obtained under the assumptions of informative and non-informative priors are compared with the maximum likelihood estimators. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed estimation methods here. Maximum likelihood, bootstrap and the different Bayes estimates are compared via a Monte Carlo Simulation

Background: Paracetamol exerts toxic effects on liver cells through its metabolism into N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine (NAPQI), which is detoxified by conjugation with cellular glutathione (GSH). Once GSH is depleted, NAPQI stimulates a range of oxidative reactions that result in cell necrosis. The aim of the present investigation is to find a new strategy that would selectively protect normal hepatic tissues and sensitize liver cancer cells to the toxic effects of paracetamol or its metabolite. This may lead to the development of a targeted therapy for liver cancer. Methods: The anti-proliferative effects of paracetamol and buthionine sulfoximine BSO (a glutathione depleting agent) alone and in combination on the liver cancer cells HepG2 and normal rat hepatocytes were investigated by sulphorhodamine-B assay. Effects on cell cycle regulation and induction of apoptosis were tested by flow cytometry. The level of prostaglandin expression was measured by elISA. Results: The present study showed that both agents alone or in combination have anti-proliferative effects on both cell types. Surprisingly, BSO showed a cytoprotective effects on normal hepatocytes treated with high concentrations (1.75 and 2 mM) of paracetamol. This was confirmed by cell cycle analysis that recorded decreased fraction of sub-G1 cells indicating reduction of apoptosis in normal hepatocytes. Analysis of prostaglandin E2 revealed differential effects of paracetamol on normal and liver cancer cells. A significant increase in PGE2 level over the control was observed in normal hepatocytes whereas a significant decrease was seen in HepG2 cells after treatment with paracetamol. Conclusion: These results indicate that combination of paracetamol/BSO has differential effects on liver cancer cells and normal hepatocytes, which opens the avenue for a new effective and selective combination for management of liver cancer.

Reproductive biology of L. mormyrus was studied using monthly samples totaling 224 fish obtained from AI-Haneah fishing site, eastern Libya Mediterranean Sea. Lengths of the examined fish ranged between 11.5 cm and 23.4 cm. Corresponding weights were 24.5 g and 160.8 g. The minimum values of the condition factors, KF and Kc, were 1.38 and 1.21 at the average fish length of 12.4 cm. These values increased with increases in length until they reached maximum values of 1.59 and 1.41 at the length of 22.1 cm. The high values of KF and Kc, Gonado-Somatic Index and oocyte diameter maintained during May, June, July, and August and the monthly changes in gonadal condition, indicated that summer was the breeding season of L. mormyrus. The oocyte diameter ranged between 379± 25.3 μ and 1,511 ± 143.3μ （n = 76） with an average of 895 ± 111.3 μ. The sex ratio was in favor of females during all months of the study. The overall sex ratio was 1 ： 1.52. Length at first maturity, Ls0, for L. mormyrus was found to be 14.15 cm for males and 14.45 for females. Overall average of absolute fecundity was 4,342±557 egg per fish （n = 45）. The overall average of relative fecundity was 234± 181 egg per cm. Absolute fecundity increased with increasing fish length.
