Synthesis of CuO nanoparticles by hydrothermal technique in presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as surfactant was carried out by statistically designed experiments based on Box Behnken method. Reaction parameters as time, temperature and surfactant concentration have been studied to show their effect on CuO particle size and morphology. The results of experimental design indicate that the surfactant concentration, reaction time and temperature were significant in. CuO particles were characterized using XRD and SEM. These work findings showed that CuO nanoparticles were formed at 100oC. On other hand, their crystallinity was improved with rising temperature from 100 to 200oC to achieve particle size of CuO in the range of 49-92 nm.

Objective: To clarify the antioxidant effect of butylated hydroxytoulene (BHT) at different concentrations on cooled and post frozen semen diluted in tris-citrate-fructose egg yolk glycerol and lecithin -based extenders. Methods: Forty ejaculates were harvested from four buffalo bulls by means of the artificial vagina. Ejaculated semen samples were diluted with each of the tris citrate-fructose egg yolk glycerol and lecithin-based extender diluents. The semen samples diluted with each of the two extenders were added to pre-warmed dried test tubes containing BHT (prepared in ethanol) to get concentrations at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mM/mL BHT. These ingredients were put at 37 ℃ for 5 min to allow the proper BHT spermatozoal permeation. The diluted semen samples were cooled to 5 ℃ and then frozen to -196 ℃ in 0.25 mL ministraws before dipping in liquid nitrogen pending its evaluation. Sperm motility, viability, morphology, intact acrosome and membrane integrity were tested. Visual motility was tested using a high power ordinary microscope (at 400 × ) with closed circuit television, and sperm concentration was tested using Neubauer haemocytometer and abnormality % using eosin-nigrosin stain. Spermatozoal membrane integrity was tested using the hypo-osmotic swelling test. The sperm with swollen twisting tail was normally intact. Sperm acrosomal integrity % was tested as mentioned by Watson. Results: Addition of BHT improved (P<0.01) progressive motility, viability, morphology and acrosome as well as plasma membrane integrities at 0.5-2.0 mM/mL depending upon types of used extenders and stages of pre-and post-freezing process. Higher levels of 2.5 and 3.0 mM/mL BHT had a deteriorating (P<0.01) result if compared to the control and all extenders assayed. Conclusions: BHT addition at lower concentration can improve pre-frozen and post-thawed buffalo sperm quality.

A renewable energy plant which relies on wind speed or solar insolation is unreliable because of the stochastic nature of weather patterns. It is theorized that by using multiple renewable energy plants in separate areas of a region, the different weather conditions might approach a probabilistically independent relationship. The goal of this paper is to utilize the power system technology to help disseminate wind and solar power systems to get a stable energy. A new approach to get appropriate stable energy is achieved by using the interrupted energy that obtained from wind farm and solar insolation. This is achieved by lifting water to a higher level with appropriate pumps and storing it in the form of potential energy. Then a stable energy is obtained by reliving water to the lower level. In this paper, the efficiency obtained from the renewable energy is compared with that obtained from traditional ones. An experimental model to simulate the process of converting the renewable energy to a stable energy is presented. The obtained results from experimental model explained that the renewable energy can be converted to a stable one with high efficiency.

Background and Objective: Serum creatinine, a commonly used biomarker in determining glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage, is highly variable biologically and does not rise until > 50% of renal function (RF) impairment occurs. Also, its production is not constant & is affected by many factors as muscle mass, age, inflammation. On the other hand, Cystatin C shows more stable production making it more suitable for assessment of kidney function. Also, It has been shown that the progression of CKD to renal failure, even in glomerular diseases, correlated better with the degree of tubular damage and interstitial fibrosis. So, our aim was to investigate the relation between kidney function assessed by different cystatin (Cys-C)-based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in comparison to the gold standard Iohexol (Ioh) based measured (m)GFR in relation to the pathological degree of tubular damage in renal biopsy. To our knowledge, this is the first study that evaluates the relation of (Cys-C)-based eGFR to tubulointerstitial fibrosis in renal biopsy. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 20 CKD cases who attended the Nephrology Department at Ain Shams University, where a renal biopsy was obtained, and individuals were allocated into two groups: group A (GA) with mild tubular affection (TA) and group B (GB) with moderate to severe TA. All participants were referred for measure-ment of GFR using Iohexol (Ioh) together with serum Cys-C level and eGFR was calculated using different Cys-C-based GFR estimating equations, which were further compared using Multivariate Linear Regression and Bland-Altman analyses. Results: Our results revealed a substantial statistical difference among the two studied groups regarding Hb, s creatinine, urea. GB had significantly lower levels for both eGFR and mGFR (82, 93, 115, or 115) ml/min/1.73m2, Vs. GA (200, 123, 162 or 124) ml/min/1.73m2, according to GFR_iohexol,

Structural Architecture for Development of Marginal Extensional Sub-Basins in the Red Sea Active Rift Zone

This paper presents a robust kinematic model that describes northern Red Sea and Gulf of Suez rifting and the development of marginal extensional half-graben sub-basins (ESB). A combination of Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) and structural data was used to provide model constraints on the development of rift segments and ESB in the active rift zones. Structural analysis shows rotation and change in strike of rift-bounding faults. The model describes the northern Red Sea region as a poly-phase rift system initiated by late Oligocene (30 - 24 Ma) orthogonal rifting and the development of marginal ESB (now inland ESB), followed by oblique rifting and flank uplift during the early Miocene (24 - 18 Ma). The oblique rifting fragmented the rift depression into segments separated by oblique-slip accommodation within reactivated Pan-African (ca. 600 Ma) fracture zones, resulting in the development of antithetic faults and an en-echelon distribution of inland ESB. The current phase of rifting was instigated by the development of the Dead Sea Transform in response to increased northeasterly extension during the middle Miocene (ca. 18 Ma). The model explains the widening of the Red Sea rift during the last phase more than the Gulf of Suez rift by developing more antithetic faults and formation of offshore ESB, and deepening the rift depression.

目的模拟训练(simulation-based training,SBT)是一种有效的教育方法,广泛应用于包括肿瘤学在内的多种临床环境中。该文对肿瘤学中与SBT相关的研究进行了范围综述,全面了解SBT在提高医护人员技能方面的作用,从而提高护理质量和患者安全。方法根据Arksey和O’Malley提出的范围综述方法框架,在Medline、Scopus和Web of Science数据库中检索于2012年至2022年发表的,与SBT在提高肿瘤科医护人员技能方面的相关研究文献,仅纳入经过同行评审的英文或法语文献。由2名研究员独立进行文献的筛选、提取和分析。结果检索出1013篇文章,共纳入29篇文献。其中25篇文献侧重于非技术技能,如决策技能、沟通和团队合作技能以及认知能力;13篇文献侧重于技术技能。纳入文献研究结果表明,通过SBT项目,肿瘤科医护人员的技能得到了显著提高。其中14篇文献对SBT的应用进行了主观评估,9篇文献对其进行了客观评估,6篇文献采用了主观和客观相结合的评估方法。结论SBT是提高肿瘤科医护人员技能的有效方法,支持和推广SBT对提供高质量的医疗服务和确保患者安全至关重要。

Containerization with its increasing share in seaborne trade highlights the importance of assessing container terminals performance indicators. The world economical situation and the global container market have improved slightly after the 2008 world economical crises. Egyptian container terminals are important to serve the world liner services in particular the main east-west routes. Egypt is considered the leading country in Africa and the 18th worldwide in serving the liner markets. Alexandria container terminal as a medium size terminal shows an acceptable super/infra structure facilities and throughput. The analysis of Alexandria container terminal performance indicators from 2007 to 2011 shows a slightly progressive trend. Selected indicators, reflecting production, productivity, utilization and service measures, were used according to the available data. Terminal production shows a slight increasing demand concerning number of vessels and TEUs （Twenty Equivalent Units）. Furthermore, productivity indicators proved remarkable development in moves per working hours rather than moves per hours in port, deducing lack of port services accompanying cargo handling. Moreover, Utilization measurements show the terminal occupancy ratio fluctuating from 45% to 67% with slight development. Finally, Service measures show progress in vessels turnaround time, while long wasted time consumed in processes rather than operation was observed.

They were randomly allocatedinto three groups; each group included 30 patients treatedwith intravariceal sclerosant injections in biweeklysessions till complete obturation of gastric varices;Group I （n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate; Histoacryl？）, GroupII （iso-amyl-2-cyanoacrylate; Amcrylate？） and GroupIII （mixture of 72% chromated glycerin; Scleremo？with glucose solution 25%）. All the procedures wereperformed electively without active bleeding. Recruitedpatients were followed up for 3 ***： 26% of Scleremo group had bleeding duringpuncture vs 3.3% in each of the other two groups withsignificant difference, （P 〈 0.05）. None of Scleremogroup had needle obstruction vs 13.3% in each of theother two groups with no significant difference, （P 〉0.05）. Rebleeding occurred in 13.3% of Histoacryl andAmcrylate groups vs 0% in Scleremo group with nosignificant difference. The in hospital mortality was 6.6%in both Histoacryl and Amcrylate groups, while it was0% in Scleremo group with no significant difference. Inthe first and second sessions, the amount of Scleremoneeded for obturation was significantly high, while the amount of Histoacryl was significantly low. Scleremo was the less costly of the two treatments. CONCLUSION： All used sclerosant substances showed efficacy and success in management of gastric varices with no significant differences except in total amount,cost and bleeding during puncture.

Aim: Gadobenate dimeglumine (multihance) is a contrast medium which can be used not only as an extracellular contrast agent for dynamic imaging of the liver, but also as a liver specific agent for the acquisition of hepatobiliary-phase images which are more helpful in evaluation of small atypical hepatic focal lesions equal or less than 3 cm. The authors tried to evaluate multihance dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a new modality in early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: Thirty cirrhotic patients with small hepatic focal lesions (less than 3 cm in diameter), detected by imaging (ultrasound and triphasic computed tomography) were subjected to dynamic MRI with multihance contrast. All patients had a liver biopsy stained with heat shock protein 70, glypican 3, and glutamine synthetase to confirm the diagnosis of HCC. Results: Eight out of 30 patients (26.6%) with atypical focal lesions proved to have HCC by histology, whereas 7 out of 8 histologically proven HCC patients (87.5%) were shown to have typical criteria on Multihance imaging. Conclusion: Multihance dynamic MRI is a promising diagnostic modality for detection of early HCC, however, future studies on large numbers of patients are warranted to precisely detect the sensitivity and specificity of this new modality.
