Characterization of root-nodulating bacteria on Retama raetam in arid Tunisian soils

The aim of this study is to investigate the diversity of Retama raetam root-nodule bacteria isolated from arid regions of Tunisia. Twelve isolates, chosen as representative for difierent 16S rRNA gene patterns, were characterized by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and phenotypic analysis. Isolates were assigned to Sinorhizobium, Rhizobium and Agrobacterium. Symbiotic properties of Sinorhizobium and Rhizobium isolates showed a large diversity in their capacity to infect their host plant and fix atmospheric nitrogen. Strain RK 22 identified as Rhizobium was the most effective isolate.

Genetic diversity of rhizobial populations recovered from three Lotus species cultivated in the infra-arid Tunisian soils

Eighty-three bacterial strains isolated from root nodules of Lotus creticus, L. pusillus, and L. arabicus grown in infra-arid Tunisian soils were characterized using a polyphasic approach including phenotypic analysis, rep-PCR and PCR-RFLP analyses of the 16S rRNA gene. Phenotypically, all isolates are fast growers the majority of which grow at a pH of between 5.5 and 9. Most of the tested isolates tolerate NaCl concentrations from 1.39% to 3.48%. By rep-PCR fingerprinting, the genomic similarity varied from 30% to 98%. All tested isolates were clustered into 32 rep-PCR clusters at the similarity level of 80%. The genomic divergence of strains revealed by rep/PCR analysis appeared to be very important since a molecular polymorphism delimiting symbionts for each species of Lotus was identified. With the high-resolution of rep-PCR profiles of the isolates obtained using Pearson’s/UPGMA analysis, the isolates were resolved into 60 different profiling groups to undergo 16S ARDRA analyses. The analysis of all restriction fragments from each strain based on the UPGMA algorithm from the combined patterns showed that Lotus isolates are very diverse and that they were affiliated to Sinorhizobium, Rhizobium, and Mesorhizobium genera.

Analysis of Genetic Diversity and Relationships in a Tunisian Fig （Ficus carica） Germplasm Collection by Random Amplified Microsatellite Polymorphisms

The random amplified mirosatellite polymorphism method was performed in a set of Tunisian fig landraces using eighteen primer combinations. A total of sixty three random amplified microsatellite polymorphism （RAMPO） markers were scored and used either to assess the genetic diversity in these cultivars or to detect cases of mislabeling. Opportunely, data proved that the designed procedure constitutes an attractive and fast method with low costs and prevents radio exposure. As a result, we have identified the primer combinations that are the most efficient to detect genetic polymorphism in this crop. Therefore, the derived unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic averages （UPGMA） dendrogram illustrates the genetic divergence among the landraces studied and exhibits a typically continuous variation. Moreover, no evident correlation between the sexes of trees was observed. In addition, using these markers, discrimination between landraces has been achieved. Thus, random amplified mirosatellite polymor- phism is proved to be powerful for characterizing the local fig germplasm.

Self-supervised Learning for Speech Emotion Recognition Task Using Audio-visual Features and Distil Hubert Model on BAVED and RAVDESS Databases

Existing pre-trained models like Distil HuBERT excel at uncovering hidden patterns and facilitating accurate recognition across diverse data types, such as audio and visual information. We harnessed this capability to develop a deep learning model that utilizes Distil HuBERT for jointly learning these combined features in speech emotion recognition (SER). Our experiments highlight its distinct advantages: it significantly outperforms Wav2vec 2.0 in both offline and real-time accuracy on RAVDESS and BAVED datasets. Although slightly trailing HuBERT’s offline accuracy, Distil HuBERT shines with comparable performance at a fraction of the model size, making it an ideal choice for resource-constrained environments like mobile devices. This smaller size does come with a slight trade-off: Distil HuBERT achieved notable accuracy in offline evaluation, with 96.33% on the BAVED database and 87.01% on the RAVDESS database. In real-time evaluation, the accuracy decreased to 79.3% on the BAVED database and 77.87% on the RAVDESS database. This decrease is likely a result of the challenges associated with real-time processing, including latency and noise, but still demonstrates strong performance in practical scenarios. Therefore, Distil HuBERT emerges as a compelling choice for SER, especially when prioritizing accuracy over real-time processing. Its compact size further enhances its potential for resource-limited settings, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of applications.

Landslide susceptibility mapping using machine learning algorithms and comparison of their performance at Abha Basin,Asir Region,Saudi Arabia

The current study aimed at evaluating the capabilities of seven advanced machine learning techniques(MLTs),including,Support Vector Machine(SVM),Random Forest(RF),Multivariate Adaptive Regression Spline(mars),Artificial Neural Network(ANN),Quadratic Discriminant Analysis(QDA),Linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA),and Naive Bayes(NB),for landslide susceptibility modeling and comparison of their *** machine learning algorithms with spatial data types for landslide susceptibility mapping is a vitally important *** study was carried out using GIS and R open source software at Abha Basin,Asir Region,Saudi ***,a total of 243 landslide locations were identified at Abha Basin to prepare the landslide inventory map using different data *** the landslide areas were randomly separated into two groups with a ratio of 70%for training and 30%for validating *** landslide-variables were generated for landslide susceptibility modeling,which include altitude,lithology,distance to faults,normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),landuse/landcover(LULC),distance to roads,slope angle,distance to streams,profile curvature,plan curvature,slope length(LS),and *** area under curve(AUC-ROC)approach has been applied to evaluate,validate,and compare the MLTs *** results indicated that AUC values for seven MLTs range from 89.0%for QDA to 95.1%for *** findings showed that the RF(AUC=95.1%)and LDA(AUC=941.7%)have produced the best performances in comparison to other *** outcome of this study and the landslide susceptibility maps would be useful for environmental protection.
