This pro.8}ted us to.sequenc. the sho.t-c.c.e SARS-c.V-2 sam.le to.identify po.ential m.tatio.s in the Spike gene (S gene) gene. m.tho.s: Po.t-infec.io., Quantitative Reverse Transc.iptio. (qRT-Pc.) was perfo.m.d o.er a defined tim. c.urse to.estim.te the c. o. the SARS-c.V-2 spec.m.n c.llec.ed fro.8}the patient. Sanger sequenc.ng was do.e o. the entire fragm.nt o. the S gene to.identify m.tatio.s. Findings: Sanger sequenc.ng revealed m.tatio.s in the lineage o. interest, designated b.1.525 b. Pango. and also.kno.n as “Eta” using the no.8}nc.ature defined b. WHo. This variant was o.iginally fo.nd in Nigeria and Italy. The fo.r no.el m.tatio.s identified in Eta (D228N, Y451N, I1172m. and c.250F) were o.herwise o.0}erved with a lo. frequenc. wo.ldwide. Altho.gh the initial c. was 10 in the c.se study patient, he did no. exhib.t severe sym.to.8} o. SARS-c.V-2, fo. exam.le, pneum.nia. Ho.ever, we o.0}erved a lo.ger viral c.earanc. perio. than usual, o. 3 weeks. We no.e that as c.m.ared to.SARS-c.V-2 sam.les o.0}ained during the first peaks o. SARS-c.V-2 infec.io. in m.li, when the infec.io. was at its peak in m.rc. 2020 (c. = 30.4), c.rc.lating strains evaluated at the tim. the Eta sam.le was o.0}ained dem.nstrated a lo.er m.an c. (c. = 24). c.nc.usio.s: The sho.t c.c.e thresho.d asso.1}ated with this variant, and the tem.o.al asso.1}atio. with a dec.ease in the m.an c. in the regio. o. b.m.ko. m.y indic.te higher levels o. transm.ssib.lity due to.a c.rc.lating variant. This variant is a lineage o. interest designated b.1.525 b. Pango.o. Eta b. WHo.
