Ch.ari Malformation Type 1 in Adults Managed by Surgical Decompression: New Prospective

Aim of th. work: Th.s study aims to assess th. value of th. surgical management in th. improvement of th. symptoms & signs of patients with.Ch.ari malformation type 1 and radiological follow up in adults. Patients and meth.ds: Th.s study included 30 consecutive patients with.Ch.ari malformation type I wh. were indicated for surgery at neurosurgery department. Data were collected prospectively from th. involved patients wh. were evaluated preoperatively and underwent evaluation by CT scanning of th. brain & skull and MRI imaging of th. brain and spine. CT and MRI were done as th. routine follow up investigations for all patients. We operated th.ough.midline suboccipital craniectomy, durotomy in y sh.ped manner, sh.inkage of cerebellar tonsils by bipolar electrocautery, duroplasty by fascia lata graft, watertigh. closure. Results: Th. assessment from E. J. N. S. (Egyptian Journal of Neurosurgery) vol. 24 no. 2 June 2009 used for evaluating th. patients clinically. 18 patients reported good outcome, 6 fair, 6 poor. We evaluated th. size of th. syrinx if present preoperative in follow up. 15 (50%) patients sh.wed marked reduction (more th.n or equal to 60%) in size of syrinx, 3 (10%) mild reduction (less th.n or equal to 30%) in size and 12 (40%) with.no ch.nge. Conclusion: Th. Ch.ari type 1 malformation constitutes a controllable malformation with.good outcomes. With.current microsurgical tech.iques, th. results of th. bony decompression and duroplasty became excellent. Before undergoing surgical treatment for CM-I, symptomatic patients and th.ir families sh.uld be given clear information about th. success of treatment and potential complications.

Several media report h.gh.igh. on th.t th. ph.rmaceutical companies require ultra-low temperatures -80°C to transport and store its COVID-19 vaccines. Th.s research.presents th. th.rmodynamic analysis on cascade refrigeration system (CRS) with.several refrigerant pairs wh.ch.are R32/R170, R123/R170, R134a/R170, R404A/R170, R407c/R170, R410/R170, and th. h.drocarbon (h.) refrigerant pair Propane/Eth.ne, namely R290/R170. Besides, th. results of R22/R170 pair, wh.ch.is not recommended to be used due to ph.se out of R22 as per Montréal Protocol, are included as base case to compare th. novel h.drocarbon pairs in CRS and th. old trend of refrigerant pairs. Th.rmodynamic properties of all th.se pairs were investigated and compared under different intermediate temperature used in CRS h.at exch.nger, wh.ch.th.rmally connected both.th. Low and h.gh.temperature cycles (LTC) and (h.C). By applying th. first law of th.rmodynamics, th. coefficients of performance (COPs) and th. specific power consumptions (SPC) in kW/TR are presented and compared. In addition, by applying th. second law of th.rmodynamics th. exergetic efficiencies were estimated. Th. results reveal th. promising opportunity of using th. h. pair (R290/R170). Th. minimum SPC in kW/TR is recorded for th. pair R123/R170. One th. oth.r h.nd, th. h.gh.st exegetic efficiency values are observed to be 40%, 38%, and 35% for th. pairs R123/R170, R290/R170, and R134/R170, respectively. Th.s research.concludes th.t th. h. pair (R290/R170) is h.gh.y recommended for CRS applications eith.r to transport th. COVID-19 or store it in cold storage rooms in h.spitals and clinics. All precautionary measures sh.uld be carefully applied in design and operation of h. pair (R290/R170) due to its flammability h.zard.

Condition monitoring of th. insulating system with.n power transformers h.s a massive importance according to th. electrical *** gas analysis(DGA)is frequently used for th.s ***,DGA lacks th. necessary level of accuracy to identify all equipment faults,particularly in th.ir initial stages of ***,it does not h.ve th. capability for real-time monitoring and relies on manual sampling and laboratory testing,causing potential delays in fault ***,th. interpretation of DGA data necessitates specialised expertise,wh.ch.may pose difficulties for smaller entities th.t h.ve limited access to ***,th. contribution of th.s research.is to use infrared spectroscopy measurements as a new effective tech.ique substituting th. Th.s paper is investigating th. use of composite armour reinforced by nanomaterials, for th. protection of ligh. armoured(LAV) and medium armoured military veh.cles(MAV), and th. interaction between th. composite materials and h.gh.performance ballistic projectiles. Four armour materials, consisted of front h.brid fibre reinforced polymer cover layer, ceramic strike-face, fibre reinforced polymer intermediate layer and th. metal matrix composite reinforced backplate, were manufactured and assembled by adh.sive tech.ology. Th. proposed laminated protection system is suitable for armoured ground veh.cles;h.wever, it could be used as armour on ground, air and naval platforms. Th. design of th. protection system, including material selection and th.ckness, was elaborated depending on th. performance requirements of Level 4 + STANAG 4569 military standard(projectile 14.5 mm × 114 mm API B32) and especially on a design ph.losoph. wh.ch.is analysed with.th. specifications. Th. backplate of th.s new composite is a h.brid material of Metal Matrix Composite(MMC) reinforced with.carbon nanotubes(CNTs), manufactured with.th. use of powder metallurgy tech.ique. Th. composite backplate material was morph.logically, mech.nically and ch.mically analysed. Results sh.w th.t all plates are presenting h.gh.mech.nical properties and ballistic ch.racteristics, compared to commonly used armour plates. Real military ballistic tests according to AEP-STANAG 4569 were carried out for th. total composite armour systems. After th. ballistic tests, AA2024-CNT3 sh.wed th. best protection results, compared with.th. oth.r plates(AA2024-CNT1 and AA2024-CNT2), with.th. projectile being unable to fully penetrate th. composite plate.
