Effect of Annealing Temperatures on the Structural and Electrical Properties of Laser Induced Plasma for TiO2x-1Bix Thin Films

In this study, Bismuth doped Titanium dioxide thin films were deposited on glass substrates by a pulse laser deposition using laser. The effect of annealing temperature on the structural and electrical properties was investigated. X-ray diffraction pattern for pure and doped titanium dioxide films with different doping different ratio with Bi show that these films have amorphous structure oanvert to polycrystalline structure with annealing and doping and have a good identically with standard peaks for Anatase and Rutile phases. The orientation was at specific direction for Rutile. The crystalline of films increases by the increase of doping ratio. The crystalline increased with annealing temperature. Annealed films at different annealing temperatures have been studied. The results show that these films have two activation energies and by increasing the doping ratio, the activation energies and the conductivity increase. Both the annealing and composition effects on Hall constant, density of electron carders and Hall mobility are studied. Hall Effect measurements show that all films have n- type charge conductivity and the concentration increases while the mobility decreases with doping and annealing.

At hospital, nutrition represents an important value of care, particularly for patients at risk. However, it is observed that for various reasons, the restoration of the hospitalized patients is often neglected in the privileges of the medical care. The establishment of a Liaison Committee of Food and Nutrition （LCFN） within a health establishment has shown according to several works, its positive impact in improving the hygienic quality and nutritional dishes served to patients. In this framework, we conducted a quasi-experimental study into CHU F hached Sousse of Tunisia type （before/after, creation LCFN） in order to assess the role of such structure （LCFN） in the qualification and the improvement of patients＇ food. Our study was based during the two phases （2007/2010） on the same methodology. Thus we have conducted an audit of observation of hygiene practices along the distribution chain of patient＇s meals and the samples for microbiological analyzes from food, surfaces, equipment and personnel＇s *** results obtained have shown, in one hand, a degradation of the average rate of contamination for the bacteriological analyzes, and in the other hand, an evolution of the rate of hygiene standards respected. According to this study, the role played by the LCFN is becoming more and clearer in the improvement of the hygienic quality of patients＇ dishes without forgetting the impact of improving the nutritional quality and Hedonics.

Edge detection is the process of determining where boundaries of objects fall within an image. So far, several standard operators-based methods have been widely used for edge detection. However, due to inherent quality of images, these methods prove ineffective if they are applied without any preprocessing. In this paper, an image preprocessing approach has been adopted in order to get certain parameters that are useful to perform better edge detection with the standard operators-based edge detection methods. The proposed preprocessing approach involves computation of the histogram, finding out the total number of peaks and suppressing irrelevant peaks. From the intensity values corresponding to relevant peaks, threshold values are obtained. From these threshold values, optimal multilevel thresholds are calculated using the Otsu method, then multilevel image segmentation is carried out. Finally, a standard edge detection method can be applied to the resultant segmented image. Simulation results are presented to show that our preprocessed approach when used with a standard edge detection method enhances its performance. It has been also shown that applying wavelet edge detection method to the segmented images, generated through our preprocessing approach, yields the superior performance among other standard edge detection methods.

Large Adrenal Pseudocyst: A Case Report

Introduction: Cysts of the adrenal gland are rare and are usually discovered incidentally, typically presented with abdominal pain or palpable mass. There are four categories of adrenal gland cyst: epithelial, endothelial, parasitic and pseudocysts. We report the case of a 33-year-old woman who presented as a pain of the right hypochondrium and abdominal distention and was diagnosed with a large unilateral adrenal pseudocyst. Case presentation: A 33-year-old Moroccan woman followed for acute articular rheumatism for 3 years was admitted with left hypochondralgia and abdominal distention. Magnetic resonance imaging. (MRI) and abdominal computed tomography revealed a large left adrenal cyst mass measuring 19 cm. The patient underwent surgery, and the cyst was completely removed. Histological examination revealed an adrenal pseudocyst. Symptoms resolved after pseudocyst removal. Conclusion: Adrenal pseudocysts are uncommon. Symptoms are usually related to the size and local pressure effect of the cysts.

Anodic oxidation of Co, Cu, Zn, and Sn metals in an acetone solution of 1,1-malonayl-bis(4-p- Chlorophenylthiosemicarbazide) yields complexes of composition with general formula [Co2(pClMaTS)(H2O)6]·2H2O, [Cu2(pClMaTS)(H2O)6], [Zn2(pClMaTS)(H2O)6] and [Sn2(pClMaTS)(H2O)6]·2H2O. Chelation was investigated based on elemental analysis, conductivity, magnetic moment, spectral (UV-Vis, IR, Raman, 1HNMR, mass), thermal, and ESR studies. The Raman and infrared spectral studies suggests the tridentate behavior of the ligand from each tail. Since the ligand has two thiose- micarbazide groups, it may acts in an SNO tridentate fashion from each side with one of the two metal ions forming a polynuclear complex coordinating through both of the lone pair of electrons the enolic oxygen of the carbonyl group (C=O), the azomethine nitrogen (C=N) and the thioenol form of the thiocarbonyl group (C=S). The differential thermogravimetric analysis (DTG) curves were used to study the decomposition steps of the isolated complexes using Horowitz-Metzger (HM) and Coats-Redfern (CR) methods. The kinetic thermodynamic parameters such as: E*, ΔH*, ΔS*and ΔG* are calculated from the DTG curves.

Role of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) and Its Receptor Tyrosine Kinase A (TrK A) in Egyptian Cirrhotic Patients with Pruritus

Background: Pruritus is a distressing symptom of cholestatic, inflammatory, and malignant liver diseases. It is a common symptom in many biliary and cholestatic disorders such as primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). Several mechanisms are generally accepted as possible explanations to the underlying basis of itch. However, the exact pathophysiology of pruritus in liver diseases remains unclear. The cutaneous and central neurobiology of pruritus is complex and underlies a regulation of variable mechanisms. At present, not all mechanisms including neuromediators and receptors are known. Objective: Our objective is to evaluate whether the expression pattern of NGF and its receptor TrK A has a role in pruritus in a group of Egyptian cirrhotic patients. Patients and Methods: Forty Patients with liver cirrhosis were enrolled in the study depending on clinical evidence of stigmata of chronic liver disease (e.g. jaundice, ascites, palmar erythema, spider naevi, etc.) and ultrasonographic features of liver cirrhosis (e.g. coarse echo texture, shrunken liver, etc.). Patients were divided into two groups. Group (1): included 20 patients cirrhotic patients without pruritus. Group (2): included 20 patients cirrhotic patients with pruritus. A group of age and sex matched healthy twenty volunteers as a control. Results: After evaluation of histopathological using hematoxylin and eosin stained sections (H&E) was done. There was positive correlation between NGF protein expression and severity of pruritus in cirrhotic patients with pruritus (r = 0.876, p value ≤ 0.001). Also there was positive correlation between TrK A protein expression and severity of pruritus in cirrhotic patients with pruritus (r = 0.44, p value ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: We report, for the first time, role of these proteins (NGF/TrK A) in the mechanism of pruritus in cirrhotic patients and may provide a potential target for new treatment of pruritus in cirrhotic.

Optical Near Field Study of Ag Nanowires by the Differential Method

The optical response of subwavelength silver nanowires arranged periodically on silica has been analyzed numerically by the differential method improved by the S matrix algorithm. Our results improve the capacity of this rigorous method to give a description of various phenomena occurring in near and far field around the periodic grating. This renders pos- sible to determine the positions of plasmon’s resonance according to the choice of materials used and the geometrical properties. We study the behavior of the diffracted light by the nano-structure in both single nanowire case and grating nanowires case. The influence of the exact grating period and the induced modification of the spacer nanowire depend- ence are then discussed. Moreover, we present mappings of the electromagnetic field located at 50 nm above the nanowires.

Risk Stratification Treatment of Pediatric Rhabdomyosarcoma: South Egypt Cancer Institute Experience

Risk stratification allows tailoring of treatment protocol using, for selected patients, reduced total chemotherapy exposure, including decreases in alkylator therapy and avoidance of agents with recognized risk of late complications (anthracyclines), elimination of irradiation and reduction of radiotherapy dose. Patients and Methods: Twenty-nine newly diagnosed pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma patients attended the pediatric oncology department between January 2008 and May 2011. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to age, stage, group, pathology and site of the tumor. Treatment protocol tailored according to risk group. Results: Twenty-nine newly diagnosed pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma patients were evaluated. Seven patients had low risk, Intermediate risk included 12 patients, and 10 patients had high risk. After three years median follow up, event free survival was 51.7% for all patients however it was 86%, 67% and 10% for low, intermediate and high risk respectively (P = 0.0002). There was statistical difference for survival among different sites, histology, clinical group and stage as risk factors within each risk group, no statistically survival significance of any of these factors within the same risk group. Conclusion: Risk stratification is the best single predictor factor for pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma and allows tailoring of the treatment protocol. For selected patients, reductions in total chemotherapy exposure, elimination of irradiation in selected low risk patients and reduction of radiotherapy dose according to postoperative margin and nodal status is safe.

In this paper, we have presented the numerical investigation of the geometric phase and field entropy squeezing for a two-level system interacting with coherent field under decoherence effect during the time evolution. The effects of the initial state setting and atomic dissipation damping parameter on the evolution of the geometric phase and entropy squeezing have been examined. We have reported some new results related to the periodicity and regularity of geometric phase and entropy squeezing.
