Because of the widespread availability of low-cost printers and scanners,document forgery has become extremely *** or signatures are used to protect important papers such as certificates,passports,and identification *** the origins of printed documents is helpful for criminal investigations and also for authenticating digital versions of a document in today’s *** printer identification(SPI)has become increasingly popular for identifying frauds in printed *** paper provides a proposed algorithm for identifying the source printer and categorizing the questioned document into one of the printer classes.A dataset of 1200 papers from 20 distinct(13)laser and(7)inkjet printers achieved significant identification results.A proposed algorithm based on global features such as the Histogram of Oriented Gradient(HOG)and local features such as Local Binary Pattern(LBP)descriptors has been proposed for printer *** classification,Decision Trees(DT),k-Nearest Neighbors(k-NN),Random forests,Aggregate bootstrapping(bagging),Adaptive-boosting(boosting),Support Vector Machine(SVM),and mixtures of these classifiers have been *** proposed algorithm can accurately classify the questioned documents into their appropriate printer *** adaptive boosting classifier attained a 96%*** proposed algorithm is compared to four recently published algorithms that used the same dataset and gives better classification accuracy.

Chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection is a public health issue that often progresses to life-threatening complications, including liver cirrhosis, fibrosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Impaired immune responses to HCV are key features of chronic HCV infection. Therefore, intervention strategies usually involve enhancing the immune responses against HCV. Cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes(CTLs) play a critical role in the control of HCV infection. However, their cytolytic function can be impaired by the expression of co-inhibitory molecules. Programmed death-1(PD-1) receptor and its ligand PD-L1 function in a T cell co-inhibitory pathway, which either blocks the function of CTLs or the differentiation of CD8+ T cells. During chronic HCV infection, the immune inhibitory receptor PD-1 is upregulated on dysfunctional HCV-specific CD8+ T cells. As such, blockade of the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway in these CD8+ T cells might restore their functional capabilities. Indeed, clinical trials using therapies to block this pathway have shown promise in the fostering of anti-HCV immunity. Understanding how chronic HCV infection induces upregulation of PD-1 on HCV specific T cells and how the PD-1/PD-L1 interaction develops HCV specific T cell dysfunction will accelerate the development of an efficacious prophylactic and therapeutic vaccination against chronic HCV infections, which will significantly improve HCV treatments and patient survival. In this review, we discuss the relationship between PD-1 expression and clinical responses and the potential use of PD-1 blockade for anti-HCV therapy.

Water Quality Assessment of the River Nile System:An Overview

Objectives The main objective of the present article is to assess and evaluate the characteristics of the Nile water system , and identify the major sources of pollution and its environmental and health consequences. The article is also aimed to highlight the importance of water management via re-use and recycle of treated effluents for industrial purpose and for cultivation of desert land. Method An intensive effort was made by the authors to collect, assess and compile the available data about the River Nile. Physico-chemical analyses were conducted to check the validity of the collected data. for the determination of micro-pollutants, Gas Chromatography (GC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) were used. Heavy metals were also determined to investigate the level of industrial pollution in the river system. Results The available data revealed that the river receives a large quantity of industrial, agriculture and domestic wastewater. It is worth mentioning that the river is still able to recover in virtually all the locations, with very little exception. This is due to the high dilution ratio. The collected data confirmed the presence of high concentrations of chromium and manganese in all sediment samples. The residues of organo-chlorine insecticides were detected in virtually all locations. However, the levels of such residues are usually below the limit set by the WHO for use as drinking water. The most polluted lakes are Lake Maryut and Lake Manzala. Groundwater pollution is closely related to adjacent (polluted) surface waters. High concentrations of nutrients, ***, sulfur, heavy metals, etc. have been observed in the shallow groundwater, largely surpassing WHO standards for drinking water use. Conclusion A regular and continuous monitoring scheme shall be developed for the River Nile system. The environmental law shall be enforced to prohibit the discharge of wastewater (agricultural, domestic or industrial) to River Nile system.

Predictors of renal angioembolization outcome:A retrospective analysis with 148 patients at a tertiary urology institute

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictor of unsuccessful outcome of renal angioembolization(RAE).Knowing those predictors may help in avoiding unnecessary RAE procedures and their associated side effects,while helping to prepare for an alternate procedure and improving patient's overall ***:A retrospective analysis between January 2006 and December 2018 was performed,and the indications for RAE were classified into post-traumatic,iatrogenic,renal tumors,and *** who underwent RAE prior to nephrectomy were *** tomography angiography was performed in patients with normal renal function and those who had no contrast allergy,otherwise magnetic resonance angiography was *** the purpose of statistical analysis,we stratified patients into two main categories based on the final outcome—successful or ***:Of 180 patients,32 with negative angiography were eliminated,leaving 148 patients;136(91%)had successful outcomes after one or more trials and 12 had unsuccessful *** mean age was 45±15 years,and 105(71%)were *** gender,side of the lesion,presence of hematuria,indication for RAE,nor the type of lesion affected the *** the other hand,renal anatomy with presence of accessory artery was the only predictor to failed RAE(p=0.001).failed RAE trial was a predictor for nephrectomy as a secondary procedure(p=0.03).Conclusion:No pre-procedural predictors could anticipate the RAE outcome,and different indications can be scheduled to RAE,which is equally *** presence of accessory renal artery on diagnostic angiography is the only factor that may predict the failure of the procedure.

Quartz-diorite, gneissose granodiorites, two-mica granite and perthite leucogranie are the main rock units cropping out in the Wadi Ghadir area, South Eastern Desert of Egypt. Along the NNE-SSW mega-faults, a broad brittle shear zone is developed in the Ghadir two-mica granite. Brittle deformation is manifested by severe myloniti-zation and alteration of these granites. These sheared altered granites are characterized by the presence of radioactive mineralization, associated with alteration features such as silicification, hematization and kaolinitization. Radioelement measurements revealed that the unaltered and altered two-mica granites are considered as uraniferous granites. The average uranium and thorium contents in the unaltered two-mica granites are 12.29×10-6 and 19.81×10-6, respectively, and the average Th/U ratio is 1.62. The altered granites exhibit higher concentrations of U (averaging 97.949), but have lower Th and Th/U ratios (13.83 and 0.16, respectively), which indicates uranium enrichment in the granites. Binary relations of eTh/eU against either eU or eTh and eU with eTh in the studied gran-ites suggest that the distribution of radioactive elements not only magmatic (positive correlation between eU and eTh), but also due to hydrothermal redistribution of radioelements (weak correlation between eU and eTh/eU). The magmatic U and Th are indicated by the presence of uraninite, thorite, zircon and monazite whereas the evidence of hydrothermal mineralization is the alteration of rock-forming minerals such as feldspar and the forma-tion of secondary minerals such as uranophane and pyrite. Microscopic, XRD and scanning electron microscopic studies revealed the presence of uraninite, uranophane, thorite, Ce-monazite and zircon, in addition to phlogopite-fluor mica in the studied altered granites of the Wadi Ghadir shear zone.
