Food Value of Soft Dates Cultivated in Tunisian Coastal Oases

Coastal date palm cultivars are interesting through their soft dates, their abundant and earliest production than continental cultivars. Maintaining bio-diversity in Tunisian oases has become a subject of first interest in date palm cultivation in Tunisia. Coastal oases still retain a very rich and varied plant biodiversity in comparison with the continental oases, weakened by the mono cultivation of ＂Deglet Nour＂ cultivar. Study of soft date＇s composition can make there well known to date consumers, help to valorize there and to help of sustainability of coastal oases ecosystem. Fresh dates from 15 cultivars was collected, dried by 80 ~C in 20-24 h. Acidity was determinate by pH meter. Sugars were appreciated by enzymatic method. Ash and minerals was calculated by photometer and spectrometer. Chemical date composition study showed that coastal date palm cultivars are predominantly rich of carbohydrates, have a low quantity of sucrose which gives them an important dietary value. Their pH varies from 5 to 6, classifies them as the best date quality for fresh consumption. Their richness in Total Nitrogen Matters and total minerals makes them at almost the same level as the other date palm eultivars analyzed by different authors in different areas of date palm production. Mineral composition showed that these dates are K and P-rich and relatively poor in Na and Ca.

We study the homogeneous Dirichlet problem in a ball for semi-linear elliptic problems derived from the Brezis-Nirenberg one with concave-convex nonlinearities. We are interested in determining non-radial solutions which are invariant with respect to some subgroup of the orthogonal group. We prove that unlike separated nonlinearities, there are two types of solutions, one converging to zero and one diverging. We conclude at the end on the classification of non radial solutions related to the nonlinearity used.

Background: The liver is the most commonly damaged organ in abdominal trauma. The management of liver trauma has experienced many changes over the last two decades. Currently there is a trend toward a non-operative treatment warranted by the successful pediatric experience and better results recorded in many trauma centers worldwide. This study aimed to evaluate outcomes of operative and non-operative management of liver trauma in our institution over the last five ***: The patients with a diagnosis of blunt or penetrating liver injuries, admitted and managed in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2016 were retrospectively studied. The patients were divided into 2 groups, operated and non-operated groups, according to the initial management considered appropriate at the time of patient admission. Clinical features and outcomes were ***: The study involved 83 patients, with a mean age of 33 years and a marked male predominance(85.5%). The most common type of lesions was blunt trauma and the main cause was road traffic accidents. Sixty-eight liver injuries(81.9%) were of low severity(grades Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ), while 15(18.1%) were of high severity(grade Ⅳ or greater). Fifty-six patients(67.5%) had multiple injuries. Surgical treatment was performed in 26(31.3%) patients. Non-operative management was undertaken in 57 cases(68.7%). The morbidity and mortality rates were clearly lower in non-operative patients compared to those in the operated ***: Careful non-operative management is an adequate therapeutic strategy for the patients suffering from liver trauma with stable hemodynamics. Patients with complex hepatic trauma and especially those with other organ injuries continue to have significantly higher mortality.

We find and prove 3G inequalities for the Laplacian Green function with the Dirichlet boundary condition, which are applied to show the existence of positive continuous solutions of the nonlinear equation Δu-Vu=g（·,u）, where V and g are Borel measurable functions, required to satisfy suitable assumptions related to a new functional class J. Our approach uses the Schauder fixed point theorem.

The spontaneous and simultaneous rupture of both quadriceps tendons is uncommon and has rarely been reported in the literature. The current case involves a 43-year-old man with end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis for the past 20 years. The patient experienced bilateral knee pain and swelling and was unable to bear weight. Physical examination revealed bilateral quadriceps tendon defect above the patella and loss of active extension. Although plain radiographs of both knees showed no fracture or widening of the joint space, an inferiorly positioned patella was observed. Ultrasonography of the knees revealed a quadriceps tendon defect at the upper edge of each patella, while MR imaging revealed a tear in each quadriceps tendon from the superior poles of the patella. The patient then underwent surgical correction wherein the tendons were repaired using sutures passed through drill holes in the patella. The knees were immobilized with splints for 4 wk before starting physiotherapy. The patient subsequently regained full functional activity within 1 year.

A Hierarchical Methodology for Performance Evaluation Based on Data Envelopment Analysis: The Case of Companies’ Competitiveness in an Economy

In this research, we present a hierarchical Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology for competitiveness analysis. This methodology takes into account the heterogeneity of the decision making units (DMUs) as well as the diversity of the comparison criteria. We propose to homogenize the DMUs by grouping them hierarchically, which permits a better identification and definition of the criteria in each specific grouping. The methodology proceeds first by the determination of the performances or relative efficiencies, which are in turn aggregated into competitiveness indices in each grouping by the superiority index of [1];then, the overall competitiveness indices are determined additively along the hierarchical levels. We illustrate the methodology by a competitiveness analysis of several companies belonging to different sectors of activity in an economy, where are suggested ways of improvement for the non-competitive companies within their sectors and within the economy.
