This research studies the impact of different types of coarse aggregate on the behavior of geopolymer concrete based on both fly ash (FA) and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) in different marine environments. Aiming to solve the problems caused by the construction and demolition waste and the depletion of natural aggregates, in the present study coarse recycled aggregates is used to produce new green concrete with a fly ash-slag based geopolymer. By this examination, the research seeks to improve the quality and productivity of concrete used in construction and hydraulic projects. For this research, four mixtures containing different types of coarse aggregate in two different water environments were used. The utilized mixtures contained natural aggregate concrete (NAC) such as basalt and crushed marble. Also, recycled coarse aggregate concrete (RAC), which totally replaced natural aggregate, was presented in this paper such as crushed concrete and crushed ceramic. For this study, in the sieve analysis;specific and unit weights, was recorded. Furthermore, the mechanical properties were determined, using a compressive test that was conducted on the 7th, 28th, 56th and 90th days at different water environments;potable water (PW) and sea water (SW). Durability test was also performed for total absorption measurement. Results indicated that geopolymer concrete exhibits better strength in marine environments than in those of potable water. Results also showed that crushed marble (CMA) exhibits higher compressive strength and durability.

In this paper, we present a novel technique to obtain approximate analytical solution of fractional physical models. The new technique is a combination of a domain decomposition method and natural transform method called a domain decomposition natural transform method (ADNTM). The fractional derivatives are considered in Caputo sense. To illustrate the power and reliability of the method some applications are provided.

Prostate cancer is the leading male cancer worldwide. There remains a controversy as to which patients have indolent disease and which patients present an aggressive disease needing treatment with intent to cure. Because of quality of life impairment associated with treatment by radiation or surgery, active surveillance (AS) is a valid management option to avoid or differ aggressive treatment. Traditionally, AS was reserved for men with low risk prostate cancer, however intermediate risk patients are more and more found in AS cohorts. The aim of this review is to describe the place of AS in intermediate risk patients and the perspectives offered by such a treatment modality.

Objective:The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract of the Auklandia(Saussurea lappa)root plant was investigated to verify its medicinal use in the treatment of microbial ***:The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract was tested against clinical isolates ofsome multidrug-resistant bacteria using the agar well diffusion *** antibioticswere used as positive reference standards to determine the sensitivity of the clinical ***:The extracts showed significant inhibitory activity against clinical isolates of methicillinresistantStaphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumonia,Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactemase,Acinetobacter *** minimum inhibitory concentration values obtained using the agar dilution test ranged from 2.0μg/μL-12.0μg/μ*** the contrary the water extract showed no activity at all against the tested ***,theresults obtained by examining anti-resistant activity of the plant ethanolic extract showed thatat higher concentration of the plant extract(12μg)all tested bacteria isolates were inhibited with variable inhibition zones similar to those obtained when we applied lower extract concentrationusing the well diffusion ***:The results demonstrated that the crude ethanolicextract of the Auklandia(Saussurea lappa)root plant has a wide spectrum of activity suggestingthat it may be useful in the treatment of infections caused by the above clinical isolates(humanpathogens).

Background: The existence of asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease among patients with acute ischemic stroke has been studied and proved. Low ankle brachial index (ABI) is considered as a marker of atherosclerosis, and its relation to stroke severity was documented in some studies. The effect of different alleles of ApoE gene on acute ischemic stroke presentation in patients with low ABI is not known. Objective: To study the effect of ApoE gene polymorphism on stroke severity, outcome and recurrence in patients with asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease identified by low ABI. Methods: Patients with acute ischemic stroke were screened for the presence of asymp-tomatic peripheral arterial disease by estimating the ABI using a pocket Doppler ultrasound device. Assay of ApoE gene was done using the real-time PCR technique. Results: Low ABI was present in 31% of patients with acute ischemic stroke. There was no significant difference among patients with different ApoE alleles regarding the severity of their symptoms. Also, there was no significant difference among patients with normal ABI and those with abnormal ABI regarding the ApoE gene polymorphism. Conclusion: The current study showed that there was no significant relation between ApoE gene polymorphism and low ABI in ischemic stroke patients who had asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease.

In microwave tomography, it is necessary to increase the amount of diverse observation data for accurate image reconstruction of the dielectric properties of the imaging area. The multi-polarization method has been proposed as a suitable technique for the acquisition of a variety of observation data. While the effectiveness of employing multi-polarization to reconstruct images has been confirmed, the physical considerations related to image reconstruction have not been investigated. In this paper, a compact-sized imaging sensor using multi-polarization for breast cancer detection is presented. An analysis of the correlation coefficient of the received data of adjacent antennas was performed to interpret the imaging results. Numerical simulation results demonstrated that multi-polarization can reconstruct images better compared to single polarizations owing to its low correlation coefficient and condition number.

Cyphostemma digitatum （Vitaceae） is a perennial, climbing, succulent undershrub with compound fleshy leaves and tendrils. The plant is used mainly as a food flavoring, but it is also a main constituent of traditional Yemeni soup （Marak）. Besides that, it has been described to be used as a medicinal plant. The aim of this work was to study the hepatoprotective effect of the aqueous extract of C. digitatum against CCl4-induced liver injury in Guinea pigs. Animals were divided into four groups. Group I, served as normal control. Group II received 2 mL CCl4/kg b.w. diluted with olive oil, at 1：1 ratio on day 11. Group III （test group） was pre-treated orally with 100 mg/kg b.w. aqueous leaves extract of C. digitatum for 10 days followed by subcutaneous injection of CC14 （2 mL/kg b.w.）, once on day 11. Group IV were orally given Liv-52 （100 mg/kg b.w.） once daily for 10 days followed by subcutaneous injection of CC14. Our results show that, the activity of serum hepatic enzymes （alanine aminotranferase （ALT）, aspartate aminotranferase （AST）, and alkaline phosphatase （ALP）） were significantly elevated in Guinea pigs treated with CCl4, while both the C. digitatum extract and Liv-52 reduced significantly these enzymes activity. Also, the levels of glucose, urea, cholesterol and triglycerides were decreased when compared with intoxicated control. Histopathological examination of intoxicated animals showed fatty changes, inflammation and necrosis indicating liver damage, while the animals received C. digitatum or Liv-52 showed less pathological effects or normal liver when compared to animals treated with CC14 alone. Biochemical and histological results confirm the hepatoprotective effect of aqueous extract of C. digitatum.

Purpose: The aim of this study is early detection of increased cup to disc ratio and a survey study of cup-disc ratio in Egyptian children age group less than 15 years. Methods: Three hundred and eighty-two (382) children were enrolled in this study. They were classified into three age groups;infants’ Group (1) from 0-2 years, preschool Group (2) from 2-6 years and school children Group (3) from 6-15 years old. C/D ratio was measured for each child. Results: In Group (1), normal C/D ratio ranged from 0 to 0.1. The C/D ratio > 0.3 or a binocular difference of >0.2 could be regarded as one of the criteria of newborn glaucoma. Group (2): the normal ratio ranged from 0.1-0.2. Group (3): the normal ratio ranged from 0.2-0.3. The highest ratio 0.7 was found in two eyes. An asymmetry of 0.2 or more in the C/D ratios of the eyes was found in 4.8% of the children. Conclusion: C/D ratio > 0.3 and asymmetry of 0.2 is suggestive of glaucoma especially in infants of lower age group.

Impact of ginger aqueous extract on carbimazole induced testicular degenerative alterations and oxidative stress in albino rats

Objective: To evaluate the effect of ginger (Zingiber officinale) aqueous extract, a natural herb, with antioxidant properties, on testicular toxicity and oxidative stress induced by the antithyroid drug carbimazole in albino ***: Four groups of male albino rats were used. Group I served as control. Group II rats were treated with ginger aqueous extract (24 mg/mL). Group III rats were given orally carbimazole (1.35 mg/kg bw). Group IV rats were given carbimazole and ginger extract. Animals were sacrificed and their testes were removed and stained with H&E for histological examination. Sperms were collected from epididymis for detection of sperm head abnormalities. Immunohistochemical expression of PCNA and Bax was detected in the ***, CAT and GSH were measured in the ***: Treating rats with carbimazole revealed significant alterations in the tissue of testis including decreased seminiferous epithelium height, decreased diameter of seminiferous tubule and changes in the spermatogenic layers arrangement. Intertubular hemorrhage and congested blood vessels were noted. An increase in sperm head abnormalities was *** cell proliferation was reflected by a decrease in PCNA expression, while the increase in apoptotic rate was accompanied with an increase in Bax expression. Oxidative stress was demonstrated by an increase in malondialdehyde and decrease in activity of catalase and glutathione. Combined treatment of carbimazole and aqueous ginger extract led to an improvement in histological, morphometrical, immunohistochemical changes and oxidative stress induced by ***: The ameliorative effects of ginger extract could be due to its antioxidant properties.
