Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the incidence, risk factors, and outcomes of management of patients with placenta accreta. Background Placenta accreta occurs when the placental implantation is abnormal. The marked increase in incidence has been attributed to the increasing prevalence of cesarean delivery in recent years. The most common theory is defective decidualization. The most important risk factor for placenta accreta is placenta previa after a prior cesarean delivery. The first clinical manifestation of placenta accreta is usually profuse, life-threatening hemorrhage. The recommended management of suspected placenta accreta is planned preterm cesarean hysterectomy with the placenta left in situ. Patients and methods: It’s a study of all cases of placenta accreta at el-Shatby Maternity University Hospital starting from 1/4/2016 till 1/10/2016. Selection of the cases will only be dependent upon their pregnancy gestational age above 28 weeks of gestation. Results: The incidence of placenta accreta was 1/75 cesarean deliveries. The ultrasonography and doppler had a false negative rate of 54.6% and a sensitivity of 45.2% in diagnosis of placenta accreta. The rate of blood transfusion was 79.6%. Uterine preserving procedures performed in 66%. Cesarean hysterectomy performed in 34%. Intensive care unit admission occurred in 27.3%. The mean gestational age at delivery was 33.8 ± 4.6 weeks’ gestation. 31.8% admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit. Conclusion: The incidence of placenta accreta increased due to the increasing rate of cesarean deliveries, prenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta is paramount, as most women are asymptomatic. Prenatal diagnosis allows time for a multidisciplinary team to make delivery plans, which will help decrease surgical complications.

Structural and Optical Properties of Zinc Borotellurite Glass Co-Doped with Lanthanum and Silver Oxide

A series of zinc borotellurite glass co-doped with lanthanum and silver oxide with the chemical formula of [{[(TeO2)0.7(B2O3)0.3]0.7(ZnO)0.3}0.96(La2O3)0.04]1-x(Ag2O)x where the molar frac-tion of silver oxide, x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 and 0.10 had been successfully prepared via the conventional melt-quenching technique. The structural properties of the glasses were unveiled through X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy while optical properties of the glasses were investigated with Ultra Violet Visible (UV-Vis) spectropho-toscopy. The short range periodic atomic arrangement in the glass matrix that implies the amorphous nature of the glass was confirmed with the presence of a broad hump in the XRD pattern. On the other hand, the three absorption bands observable in the FTIR spectra had proven the existence of BO4, BO3 as well as TeO4 units in the glass network. The absorbance values retrieved from UV-Vis spectroscopy were utilized to calculate the indirect energy band gap and Urbach energy values of the fabricated glass. By employing the equations proposed by Mott and Davis, the obtained indirect energy band gap have val-ues ranging from 2.16 to 4.16 *** decreasing trend in indirect energy band gap and increasing Urbach energy values were related to the increasing num-ber of nonbridging oxygen (NBO) in the glass that is created from the breaking of Te-O-Te or B-O-B bonds after lanthanum as well as silver oxide are incor-porated into the zinc borotellurite glass network.

通过外部预应力钢筋施加预应力是强化钢结构及控制整体变形的有效技术之一，这项技术可应用于新型结构及现有结构的修复。本文将利用三维非线性有限元分析研究预应力简支工字钢梁（通过外部无粘结预应力钢筋施加预应力）的结构响应及预应力效应对抗弯性能的影响，同时利用ANSYS对预应力施加过程进行有限元的分析与模拟。钢材的力学性能用双线性各向同性塑性模型模拟，其收敛准则为牛顿法。梁跨度1/1000的初始缺陷及空载梁的屈曲模态二者作为初始条件研究其对结构性能的影响。由于外部预应力钢筋张拉过程及模型坐标位置的影响，上下翼缘在施加预应力后需考虑“侧向约束”效应。本文由两大部分组成，第一部分为模型与现有试验结果的验证分析，结果证明利用ANSYS进行的预应力钢梁有限元分析结果与试验结果符合较好。第二部分为简支工字钢预应力梁的参数分析，该部分将分析五个因素对30米跨预应力梁整体性能的影响，这五个因素分别为致偏装置的数量、外部预应力钢筋的偏心、预应力技术、钢筋形状、荷载类型等。在每次分析中，采用改变其中一种因素而其他因素保持不变的方法来研究该种因素对梁整体性能的影响。

Removal of Direct Dyes with Cement Kiln Dust

This paper aims to investigate removal of some direct dyes from aqueous solution using cement kiln dust, and monitoring the dye in colored cement kiln dust. Solution with 0.8 g/l concentration was treated with cement kiln dust until the color of dye disappears. The colored cement kiln residue was separate by filtration and dried on microwave oven. The concentration of dye was measured before and after treatment by UV-Vis spectroscopy as well as after washing of colored residue with water. Also, the colored residue was investigated with, XRD, IR and DSC techniques as well as measured the loss on ignition at 450 °C for 2 h. Obtained results showed that cement kiln dust has the power to remove all existing direct dyes and the residue has the same color of dye. When colored residue was washed with water, there was no back diffusion of dye in to water. This may be mainly due to chemical reaction that took place between cement kiln dust and dye. Thus analysis such as IR, XRD and DSC are in agreement with these results.

In response to the global food crisis and the imperative to address soil degradation, the international agricultural policy is actively working to alleviate the adverse impacts of soil salinity. As part of this initiative, a field trial spanning two consecutive seasons (2019/20-2020/21) was conducted under saline conditions. The primary objective was to evaluate the influence of various compost sources, including vermicompost at a rate of 0.5 ton·fed-1 and plant residues compost at a rate of 5.0 ton·fed-1, as main plots. Subplots were established by applying agricultural gypsum, both in the presence and absence of gypsum requirements. Additionally, sub-subplots were created by externally applying cobalt at a rate of 10.0 mg·L-1, with one sub-subplot receiving foliar cobalt application and the other not. The trial sought to assess the growth performance, chemical composition, enzymatic antioxidants, yield, and quality of cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) cultivated in saline soil. According to the findings, cabbage plants exhibited the most favorable response in terms of plant height, chlorophyll content, carotene levels, leaf area, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), head yield, vitamin C, and total dissolved solids (TDS) when treated with vermicompost, followed by plant compost. Conversely, plants grown without compost exhibited the least improvement in performance. Cabbage treated with agricultural gypsum requirements showed better performance than those without gypsum amendment. Moreover, plants subjected to cobalt spray demonstrated the highest growth, yield, and quality parameters compared to those without cobalt foliar application. In contrast, the control group (plants without the studied treatments) displayed the highest levels of enzymatic antioxidants, specifically catalase and peroxidase. This indicates that soil salinity stress led to an increase in catalase and peroxidase production in cabbage

Background: Genetics research of humans has established that a genetic basis contributes to the susceptibility to epilepsy for a majority of the cases. Although many epilepsies are secondary to injury or another illness, approximately 40% are idiopathic, meaning that the original cause is unknown. It is presumed that most idiopathic epilepsies result from genetic abnormalities, with the majority likely caused by mutations in multiple currently unidentified genes. However, research has revealed a growing number of single-gene mutations that cause epilepsy. Objective: To detect some of the genetic mutations which may cause idiopathic epilepsy. Methods: The current study is a cross-sectional study that had been performed at Sheikh mohamed Khair center, Banat, Omdurman, and National Centre for Neurological Sciences (NCNS) Khartoum state, during the period 2016 to 2019. Ninety-nine participants were enrolled in this study. Demographic data were collected in a predesigned questionnaire blood samples were analyzed for biochemical and molecular tests. Results: Ninety-nine patients diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy were recruited in this study. The most affected age group was 18 - 40 years accounted for 55% of patients. Females were the majority with 53%. Fifty percent of the patients had the first seizure at age less than 5 years. Ninety percent of the patients have no Family history with epilepsy. All sequenced samples showed genetic mutations, deletion mutation was detected in 71% of the samples. Bioinformatics tools detected a frameshift mutation in the chain of the amino acids. Conclusion: The current study detected deletion mutations in SCN1A gene (frameshift) can cause epilepsy by changing some amino acids with residues that can affect neuronal stability indirectly.

By studying the phenomena of limestone built from the White Monastery in Sohag Governorate damage where this study discusses the results of the analyzes and the study’s petrographic limestone, we can study and discuss what has been done to analyze X-ray diffraction and X-ray flourecence, and by scanning electron microscope in order to determine the cause of the damage and to study the properties of limestone to choose the most appropriate treatment methods especially the internal structure affected by the environmental conditions surrounding the private and increasing ground water levels along with the use of the most appropriate ways to buffer water to conserve the limestone of the environmental factors that damage it.

Nanotechnology refers to research and technology development at the atomic, molecular, and macromolecular scale, leading to the controlled manipulation and study of structures and devices with length scales in the 1-100 nanometers range. Objects at this scale, such as ＂nanoparticles,＂ take on novel properties and functions that differ markedly from those seen in the bulk scale. The small size, surface tailor ability, improved solubility, and multifunctional of nanoparticles open many new research avenues for biologists. Nanoparticles are classified into inorganic nanoparticles such as gold nanoparticles and organic nanoparticles such as carbon nanotubes and dendrimers. Different types of nanoparticals such as nanocrystals, liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, dendrimers, quantum dots and superparamagnetic nanoparticles illustrated different examples of promising nanoparticles for cancer treatment and imaging.
