In this pa.er, we introduce a.new Control Lya.unov Function (CLF) a.proa.h for controlling the beha.ior of nonlinea. uncerta.n HIV-1 models. The uncerta.nty is in deca. pa.a.eters a.d a.so externa. control setting. CLF is then a.plied to different stra.egies. One such stra.egy considers input into infected cells popula.ion sta.e a.d the other considers input into a.virus popula.ion sta.e. Furthermore, by a.ding noise to the HIV-1 model a.rea.istic compa.ison between control stra.egies is presented to eva.ua.e the system’s dyna.ics. It ha. been demonstra.ed tha. nonlinea. control ha. effectiveness a.d robustness, in reducing virus loa.ing to a. undetecta.le level.

It ta.es into a.count the time, loca.ion, PV tilt, a.d a.imuth a.gles, a.d wea.her conditions to estima.e incident power. In this pa.er, one ca.e study is considered a. New York Sta.e loca.ion. It ha. been a.plied to a.newly insta.led 8 kW residentia. system loca.ed in Inwood. The sola. pa.els a.e ma.e up of silicon HIT (Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin La.er) cells by Pa.a.onic a.d sola. cell ra.ed a. 19%. The result shows tha. the system is performing a. its ra.ed efficiency. The ca.cula.ions involve the determina.ion of direct, diffused a.d reflected ra.ia.ion on the pa.els ta.ing into a.count the time of the da., loca.ion, PV a.ea. a.d orienta.ions a.d wea.her conditions. The cloudiness index ma. be estima.ed ba.ed on the wea.her da.a.a.d included in the ca.cula.ions. a.ter performing the irra.ia.ce ca.cula.ions, the output power is estima.ed ba.ed on the ra.ed efficiency a. its tempera.ure a.d compa.ed with the genera.ed output power. The rea.-time a.sessment of a.PV system performa.ce, during the opera.iona. time monitors the hea.th of the PV system. The da.a.obta.ned by this ca.cula.or ma. a.compa.y production da.a.provided to the consumer by the utility compa.y.

Some a.plica.ions a.e constra.ned only to implement low cost receivers. In this ca.e, designers a.e required to use less complex a.d non-expensive modula.ion techniques. Differentia. Qua.ra.ure Pha.e Shift Keying (DQPSK) a.d Ga.ssia. Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) ca. be non-coherently demodula.ed with simple a.gorithms. However, these types of demodula.ion a.e not robust a.d suffer from poor performa.ce. This pa.er proposes a.new method to enha.ce the performa.ce of DQPSK a.d GFSK using Intera.tive Ka.ma. Filtering (IKF) technique, in which a.one Unscented Ka.ma. Filter (UKF) a.d two Ka.ma. Filters (KF) a.e coupled to optimize the demodula.ed signa.s. This method consists of simple but very effective a.gorithms without a.ding complexity to the demodula.ors compa.ing to other very complex methods. UKF is used in this method due to its superiority in a.proxima.ing a.d estima.ing nonlinea. systems a.d its a.ility to ha.dle non-Ga.ssia. noise environments. The proposed method ha. been va.ida.ed by crea.ing a.Ma.La./SIMULINK Bluetooth system model, in which the IKF is integra.ed into the receiver, which implement both DQPSK a.d GFSK, a.d run simula.ion in Ga.ssia. a.d Non-Ga.ssia. noise environments. Results ha.e shown the effectiveness of this method in optimizing the received signa.s, a.d tha. the UKF outperforms the Extended Ka.ma. Filter (EKF).

Optimizing the estima.es of received power signa.s is importa.t a. it ca. improve the process of tra.sferring a. a.tive ca.l from one ba.e sta.ion in a.cellula. network to a.other ba.e sta.ion without a.y interruptions to the ca.l. The la.k of effective techniques for estima.ion of sha.ow power in fa.ing mobile wireless communica.ion cha.nels motiva.ed the use of Ka.ma. Filtering (KF) a. a. effective a.terna.ive. In our resea.ch, linea. second-order sta.e spa.e Ka.ma. Filtering wa. further investiga.ed a.d tested for a.plica.ility. We first crea.ed simula.ion models for two KF-ba.ed estima.ors designed to estima.e loca. mea. (sha.ow) power in mobile communica.ions corrupted by multipa.h noise. Simula.ions were used extensively in the initia. sta.e of this resea.ch to va.ida.e the proposed method. The next cha.lenge wa. to determine if the models would work with rea. da.a. Therefore, in [1] we presented a.new technique to experimenta.ly cha.a.terize the wireless sma.l-sca.e fa.ing cha.nel ta.ing into considera.ion rea. environmenta. conditions. The two-dimensiona. mea.urement technique ena.led us to perform indoor experiments a.d collect rea. da.a. Mea.urements from these experiments were then used to va.ida.e simula.ion models for both estima.ors. Ba.ed on the indoor experiments, we presented new results in [2], where we concluded tha. the second-order KF-ba.ed estima.or is more a.cura.e in predicting loca. sha.ow power profiles tha. the first-order KF-ba.ed estima.or, even in cha.nels with imposed non-Ga.ssia. mea.urement noise. In the present pa.er, we extend experiments to the outdoor environment to include higher speeds, la.ger dista.ces, a.d dista.t la.ge objects, such a. ta.l buildings. Compa.ison wa. performed to see if the system is a.le to opera.e without a.fa.lure under a.va.iety of conditions, which demonstra.es model robustness a.d further investiga.es the effectiveness of this method in optimiza.ion of the received signa.s. Outdoor experimenta. results

This pa.er presents a.method for optima. sizing of a. off-grid hybrid microgrid (MG) system in order to a.hieve a.certa.n loa. dema.d. The hybrid MG is ma.e of a.sola. photovolta.c (PV) system, wind turbine (TW) a.d energy stora.e system (ESS). The relia.ility of the MG system is modeled ba.ed on the loss of power supply proba.ility (SPSP). For optimiza.ion, a. enha.ced Genetic a.gorithm (Ga. is used to minimize the tota. cost of the system over a.20-yea. period, while sa.isfying some relia.ility a.d opera.ion constra.nts. a.ca.e study a.dressing optima. sizing of a. off-grid hybrid microgrid in Nigeria.is discussed. The result is compa.ed with results obta.ned from the Brute Force a.d sta.da.d Ga.methods.

In this pa.er, we introduce a.non-linea. torque control for a. interior perma.ent-ma.net synchronous motor (IPMSM). The nonlinea. control is ba.ed on a.Control Lya.unov Function (CLF) technique. The proposed sta.ilizing feedba.k la. for the IPMSM drive is a.da.ping control method a.d is shown to be globa.ly a.ymptotica.ly sta.le. The CLF method ta.es the system nonlinea.ities into a.count in the control system design sta.e. Such nonlinea.ities a.e due to the cross coupling between the q a.d the q currents in a.dition to the system pa.a.eters like the inducta.ces a.d the flux linka.es. The complete IPMSM drive incorpora.ing the proposed CLF ha. been successfully simula.ed in a.pla.t model for both motor a.d inverter. The performa.ce of the proposed drive is investiga.ed in simula.ion a. different opera.ing conditions. It is found tha. the proposed control technique provides a.good torque control performa.ce for the IPMSM drive ensuring the globa. sta.ility. In la.er work, we a.e pla.ning to investiga.e other phenomena.such a. ma.netic sa.ura.ion, nonlinea. loa.s, mecha.ica. friction a.d flexibilities.

This pa.er discusses a.novel technique a.d implementa.ion to perform nonlinea. control for two different forced model sta.e oscilla.ors a.d a.tua.ors. The pa.er sta.ts by discussing the Duffing oscilla.or which fea.ures a.second order non-linea. differentia. equa.ion describing complex motion wherea. the second model is the Va. der Pol oscilla.or with non-linea. da.ping. a.first order a.tua.or is a.ded to both models to expa.d on the cha.tic beha.ior of the oscilla.ors. In order to control the system without comprising linea.iza.ion, Lya.unov non-linea. control wa. used. a.control Lya.unov function wa. ta.lored to the system. This led to improved ma.euvera.ility of the controller a.d the performa.ce of the overa.l system. The controller wa. found to be highly efficient in system tra.king a.d ha. swift response time. Simula.ions were performed on both the uncontrolled a.d controlled ca.es. Both simula.ion results ultima.ely confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

This pa.er proposes the new ca.ca.ed series pa.a.lel design for improved dyna.ic performa.ce of DC-DC buck boost converters by a.new Sliding Mode Control (SMC) method. The converter is controlled using Sliding Mode Control method tha. utilizes the converter’s duty ra.io to determine the skidding surfa.e. System modeling a.d simula.ion results a.e presented. The results a.so showed a. improved overa.l performa.ce over typica. PID controller, a.d there wa. no overshoot or settling time, tra.king the desired output nicely. Improved converter performa.ce a.d robustness were expected.
