Wounds pose a risk to the skin,our body's primary defence against *** rise of antibiotic resistance has prompted the development of novel ***-101^(■)is an antimicrobial gel that delivers therapeutic levels of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)),a reactive oxygen species,directly to the wound *** this study,electrospinning was used to incorporate RO-101^(■)into a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)sub-micron fibrous mesh that can act as a delivery agent,achieve a sustained release profile,and provide a barrier against *** incorporation of this gel into sub-micron fibres was confirmed via nuclear magnetic resonance ***,scanning electron microscopy exhibited smooth and uniform meshes with diameters in the 200-500 nm ***/RO-101 electrospun meshes generated H_(2)O_(2) in concentrations exceeding 1 m M/(g·m L)(1 m M=1 mmol/L)after 24 h,and the role of sterilisation on H_(2)O_(2) release was ***/RO-101meshes exhibited antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus(***)and Gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***)bacteria,achieving viable count reductions of up to 1 log unit CFU/mm^(2)(CFU:colony-forming units).Moreover,these meshes were capable of disrupting biofilm formation,even against multidrug-resistant organisms such as methicillin-resistant ***(MRSA).Furthermore,increasing the RO-101^(■)concentration resulted in higher H_(2)O_(2) production and an enhanced antimicrobial effect,while fibroblast cell viability and proliferation tests showed a concentration-dependent response with high cytocompatibility at low RO-101^(■)*** study therefore demonstrates the potential of highly absorbent PVA/RO-101 meshes as potential antimicrobial wound dressings.

Classification of electroencephalogram(EEG)signals for humans can be achieved via artificial intelligence(AI)***,the EEG signals associated with seizure epilepsy can be detected to distinguish between epileptic and non-epileptic *** this perspective,an automated AI technique with a digital processing method can be used to improve these *** paper proposes two classifiers:long short-term memory(LSTM)and support vector machine(SVM)for the classification of seizure and non-seizure EEG *** classifiers are applied to a public dataset,namely the University of Bonn,which consists of 2 classes–seizure and *** addition,a fast Walsh-Hadamard Transform(FWHT)technique is implemented to analyze the EEG signals within the recurrence space of the ***,Hadamard coefficients of the EEG signals are obtained via the ***,the FWHT is contributed to generate an efficient derivation of seizure EEG recordings from non-seizure EEG ***,a k-fold cross-validation technique is applied to validate the performance of the proposed *** LSTM classifier provides the best performance,with a testing accuracy of 99.00%.The training and testing loss rates for the LSTM are 0.0029 and 0.0602,respectively,while the weighted average precision,recall,and F1-score for the LSTM are 99.00%.The results of the SVM classifier in terms of accuracy,sensitivity,and specificity reached 91%,93.52%,and 91.3%,*** computational time consumed for the training of the LSTM and SVM is 2000 and 2500 s,*** results show that the LSTM classifier provides better performance than SVM in the classification of EEG ***,the proposed classifiers provide high classification accuracy compared to previously published classifiers.

Experimental Investigatin of Cementitious Slabs Rinforced with Wired-Meshes and Continuous CFRP Slices

Bending tests were conducted on 23 ferrocement slab specimens with steel meshes and continuous CFRP fibers. Two, or three, or four CFRP slices are gathered as a rope and hence these ropes are arranged to form a grid tied to a skeletal frame. The three patterns of slice reinforcement were used to reinforce cementitious slabs with or without conventional wire mesh reinforcement. The slabs were square and simply supported at their periphery with a clear span of 400 mm, and concentrically patch loaded to failure. For specimens designed to fail in flexure, the specimens reinforced with CFRP slices showed a smoother load deflection response and higher flexural capacity. For slabs designed to fail in punching shear, adding CFRP slices showed significant improvement in the ultimate shear capacity and ductility over reference specimens. Well distributed fine cracks of smaller width than control specimens were developed and no matrix spalling was observed.

Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Common Diabetic Patients among Diabetic Complications at Egyptian Hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia

Diabetes is a chronic illness that occurs when the pancreas stops producing insulin or when the body cannot use the produced insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps glucose from meals enters the body’s cells for energy. The overall goal is to assess diabetes patients’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors about prevalent diabetic complications. This research used a descriptive qualitative methodology to assess diabetes complication knowledge, attitude, and practice. Ninety-eight diabetic patients were visiting the Egyptian Hospital in Mogadishu for four weeks. The data was collected using questionnaires. Finally, SPSS 20 was utilized for analysis. The research was performed from May to July 2020 with a non-probability sample size of 98 diabetics. The bulk of responders were aged 40 - 60 (36.7%). Type 2 was the most common (47.96%). 44.9% of respondents had diabetes for more than ten years. 60.2% had regular checkups, and 54.1 percent had therapy. 52% of participants were on a diet. 63.3% of respondents do not exercise often. However, most responders know the common issues (75%). Less than half of those polled had problems (41.8%). 22% incidence of Diabetic ketoacidosis. 78.6% of respondents know variables that decrease diabetes complications, whereas 22.4% do not. 37.8% of respondents saw a doctor for diabetes problems, whereas 62.2% did not. Diabetic patients’ knowledge, attitude, and practice were satisfactory for fundamental illness entanglements and self-testing. These findings may also be due to patient notification and, therefore, long-term illness that leads them to get acquainted with things alone. However, the tendency for regular exercise was low, which may produce more specific consequences of illness. Conclusion: We find that DM patients’ KAP was adequate in terms of knowledge of diabetic complications. These results may explain the patients’ long-standing illness, which forces them to discover t

Phytochemical studies and anti-ulcerative colitis effect of Moringa oleifera seeds and Egyptian propolis methanol extracts in a rat model

Objective: To analyze the phytochemical constituents, and to explore potential protective effect of the methanol extract of Moringa oleifera(M. oleifera) seeds and Egyptian propolis, each alone or concurrently administered on acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis in rats. Methods: Eight groups of 5 rats each were used: normal control group with distilled water, model group, two groups with M. oleifera seeds(100 and 200 mg/kg), two groups with propolis(50 and 100 mg/kg), one group with concurrent administration of both, and one group with prednisolone(reference drug). Macro-and microscopic picture, ulcer index and lesion scores, oxidative markers, inflammatory mediators, in vitro activity of the inflammatory enzymes and 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radicals scavenging activity were evaluated. The phytochemical constituents of both extracts were explored by GC-MS analysis. Results: Both treatments modulated the macro-and microscopic picture, decreased the ulcerative index, lesion score, oxidative markers and inflammatory mediators, and inhibited the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. Propolis appeared to be powerful free radicals scavenger. A powerful synergistic effect of both treatments in modulating the course of the disease was reported. GCMS analysis of methanol extract of M. oleifera seeds and propolis revealed the presence of 50 and 34 compounds, respectively. Conclusions: M. oleifera seeds and propolis methanol extracts have modulated the course of acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis. Moreover, both treatments induce a good synergistic effect against the disease. Isolation of the active constituents is recommended.

Angiogenesis is an essential process for organ growth and repair. Thus, an imbalance in this process can lead to several diseases including malignancy. Angiogenesis is a critical step in vascular remodeling, tissue damage and wound healing besides being required for invasive tumor growth and metastasis. Because angiogenesis sets an important point in the control of tumor progression, its inhibition is considered a valuable therapeutic approach for tumor treatment. Chronic liver disease including hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection is one of the main cause for the development of hepatic angiogenesis and thereby plays a critical role in the modulation of hepatic angiogenesis that finally leads to hepatocellular carcinoma progression and invasion. Thus, understanding of the molecular mechanisms of HCV-mediated hepatic angiogenesis will help design a therapeutic protocol for the intervention of HCV-mediated angiogenesis and subsequently its outcome. In this review, we will focus on the molecular mechanisms of HCV-mediated hepatic angiogenesis and the related signaling pathways that can be target for current and under development therapeutic approaches.

Recently,many researchers have tried to develop a robust,fast,and accurate *** algorithm is for eye-tracking and detecting pupil position in many applications such as head-mounted eye tracking,gaze-based human-computer interaction,medical applications(such as deaf and diabetes patients),and attention *** real-world conditions challenge the eye appearance,such as illumination,reflections,and *** the other hand,individual differences in eye physiology and other sources of noise,such as contact lenses or *** present work introduces a robust pupil detection algorithm with and higher accuracy than the previous attempts for real-time analytics *** proposed circular hough transform with morphing canny edge detection for Pupillometery(CHMCEP)algorithm can detect even the blurred or noisy images by using different filtering methods in the pre-processing or start phase to remove the blur and noise and finally the second filtering process before the circular Hough transform for the center fitting to make sure better *** performance of the proposed CHMCEP algorithm was tested against recent pupil detection *** and results show that the proposed CHMCEP algorithm achieved detection rates of 87.11,78.54,58,and 78 according to´Swirski,ExCuSe,Else,and labeled pupils in the wild(LPW)data sets,*** results show that the proposed approach performs better than the other pupil detection methods by a large margin by providing exact and robust pupil positions on challenging ordinary eye pictures.

Globally, hepatocellular carcinoma is the second amongst all causes of cancer deaths and it is one of the common malignancies in both developing and developed countries. The causes are variety all of the world ranging from geography, life style and advanced medical care that is available in those countries either developing such as Somalia or developed countries. Somali contributes to global burden of hepatitis B which is a known risk factor for HCC and has categorized to the world a part of high prevalence of hepatitis B which is greater than 10%, while there is no more available data of hepatitis C in Somalia that contributes the world. Diagnoses of hepatocellular carcinoma are now forward in many countries of developed world, but reality are different from developing countries such as Somalia which is now out for civil war and has a lack of medical experts in all fields of medicine such as physician, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists and the experts of the laboratory field, even if we have these medical personal who are few or they are elder than above 60 years old plus medical equipment (such as imaging and laboratory equipment). All these challenges, the author of this manuscript has faith in the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma that can be rationally made to consider the clinical presentation of this disorder and to maximize use of offered diagnostic tools and to refer the few medical experts in the country.

Characterization of Face Sheet/Core Debonding Strength in Sandwiched Medium Density Fiberboard

Medium density fiberboard (MDF) is a highly competitive wooden material especially in office furniture industry. Damage and failure occur frequently in MDF due to low mechanical properties. In the present work, a modification was performed to enhance fracture properties of MDF. The MDF plate/core was inserted into two layers (face sheet) of glass fiber composite laminates using hand layup technique. Face sheet/core delamination involves the separation of a face sheet from the core material in a sandwich MDF. Therefore, delamination test using double cantilever beam (DCB) specimen was carried out. The test measured the debonding fracture toughness (GIC) or separation strength between face sheet material (glass fiber/epoxy laminates) with MDF core material. The test is based on compliance strategy measuring fracture toughness (GIC). It was found that the fracture toughness was increased. Extended finite element model (XFEM) based on virtual crack closer technique (VCCT) was constructed to simulate the delamination behaviors of face sheet/core materials. The model results were in good agreement with the experimental ones.
