Site Effect Estimation Using Microtremor Measurements at New Luxor City Proposed Site, South Egypt*

The present study aims mainly at investigating the site effect at the new Luxor city, Egypt, using microtremor measurements. Accordingly, 41 ambient noise recordings were implemented covering the investigated area in a reasonable manner with spacing nearly 1 km between each measurement station. The data were analyzed using Nakamura’s technique. The results show that;the investigated area exhibits low fundamental frequency values ranging between 0.28 - 0.47 Hz and its corresponding amplification factor values vary

Prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease in Relatives of Chronic Hemodialysis Patients

Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in first and second degree relatives of Hemodialysis patients. Background: Early detection and intervention of chronic kidney disease (CKD) may prevent or delay the progression and achieve improved patient outcomes. Family members of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients are considered as a high-risk population for CKD. The aim of this work is to screen and estimate the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in first and second degree relatives of hemodialysis patients. Methods: This is an observational prospective study carried out in Nephrology Unit, Internal Medicine Department, Menoufia University Hospital during January 2019 to January 2020. First and second degree relatives of ESRD were included. Relatives with known CKD risk factors or relative to ESRD with known hereditary disease were excluded. Serum creatinine and estimated eGFR, albumin creatinine ratio (ACR) and abdominal ultrasound were done twice with 3 months apart to screen for CKD. Results: 321 persons from first and second degree relatives of chronic hemodialysis patients were included. CKD prevalence was 5.6% Comparison between CKD group and non CKD showed no statistically significant difference as regard age, Gender, Smoking, BMI, and degree of relatives. There were highly significant difference between the studied groups as regard serum creatinine, bloodurea, eGFR and ACR. Relatives of ESRD patients of unknown etiology showed highly significant difference to develop CKD (44.4%) compared to non CKD group 11.5% with P value Conclusions: Prevalence of CKD in relatives—without any CKD risk factors—to ESRD was 5.6%. Family members of ESRD should be screened for CKD, especially relatives to ESRD of unknown etiology.

A Primary Hepatobiliary Neoplasia in a Persian Cat

Biliary carcinoma was diagnosed in a 7-year female Persian cat. The presented clinical signs were not conclusive for hepatic neoplasms and shared many other common health problems in cats i.e. anorexia, vomiting and dehydration. Blood laboratory analysis showed marked elevation of liver enzymes. Ultrasonography revealed a mixed echogenic pattern with multiple hypoechoic cyst-like cavities. At necropsy, the liver showed diffuse multi-lobulated masses affecting the parenchyma of all the lobes of the liver. Histopathology confirmed the neoplastic nature of the hepatic parenchymatous masses.

Theoretical, Experimental and Numerical Investigations of the Effect of Inlet Blade Angle on the Performance of Regenerative Blowers

Regenerative machines allow high heads at small flow rates and present performance curves with very stable features. This research includes a study of the effect of four inlet flow angles (90°, 115°, 125° and 135°) of the blade at outlet flow angle of 90° on the performance of regenerative blower at rotation speed of 3000 rpm and at different flow rates. Investigation and comparison of the experimental results with both one-dimensional theoretical model and numerical CFD technique using CFX-ANSYS 16.1 are done. The numerical CFD analysis show that the flow enters the impeller from the blade side (about 65% of the blade side area) and leaves from the blade tip and blade side (the remaining 35% from the blade side area). According to this observation, a mathematical model that is based on momentum exchange theory to handle one inlet angle and two exit angles for the regenerative blower impeller blades is proposed. Consequently, the experimental work is carried out by two steps. The first step is done by studying the effect of inlet blade angle of 90° and analyzing the results by using the CFD analysis. The CFD results show shock losses and vortices behind each blade at the inlet flow regions. To reduce these losses, an increase of the inlet blade angle in a range between 25° to 45° is proposed. The second step is the splitting of this angle range to three inlet blade angles of 115°, 125° and 135° in order to study and analyze the CFD results for these angels. The CFD analysis shows the disappearance of the shock losses and vortices that are formed behind the blade of angle 90°. The experimental results show that the pressure head and the efficiency depend strongly on the blade inlet and outlet flow angles as well as on the blade geometry. The results also show that the best blower performance can be obtained at an inlet flow angle of 125°, and this is confirmed by CFD simulation analysis. Prevalence and Correlates of Overweight and Obesity among School Children in Sohag, Egypt

Background: Continually rising prevalence of obesity and overweight in children and adolescents is a major public health concern. This is due to its various and serious health hazards on one side and its preventable nature on the other side. This study aims at identification of prevalence of overweight and obesity and its risk factors among children between 6 - 14 years of age in Sohag, Egypt. Method: A cross sectional study was conducted on 711 school children between 6 - 14 years in four months’ period from February to May 2016. Weight and height of the studied children were measured to calculate BMI, which was compared with standard Egyptian growth charts for determining overweight and obesity. Then a questionnaire containing data about socio demographic, parental obesity, early life and dietary risk factors was completed by the children’s parents. Result: Out of 711 studied children, 117 (16.5%) were overweight and 104 (14.6%) were obese. Residing in urban area, having an obese parent or both of them, low level of maternal education, being on formula feeding during early life and lack of fresh vegetables and fruits in diets were significant risk factors for overweight and obesity in the studied children (P value < 0.05). Conclusion: Improperly educated mothers together with sedentary life style manifested in obesity among the parents and lack of sport practice among children constituted the majors risk factors for childhood obesity. This emphasizes the need for increased health awareness of the community about the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity.

Detecting Accuracy of Three Dimensional Power Doppler (3DPD) Vascular Indices for Prenatal Diagnosis of Morbidly Adherent Placenta in Patients with Placenta Previa

Objective:?The study’s objective was to assess the accuracy of using prenatal 3-dimensional power Doppler analysis of vascular placental indices to accurately diagnose morbidly adherent placenta objectively. Background:?Traditionally, 2D ultrasound was used for the diagnosis of a suspected morbidly adherent placenta (MAP) previa. More objective techniques like 3D power Doppler haven’t been well studied. Study Design:?A prospective cohort study?is?designed for women with gestational age between 28 and?32 weeks with suspected placenta previa. Patients were examined by 2D ultrasound which was used in management decisions.?3D Power Doppler’s VI, FI and VFI were measured during the same examination after manual tracing of placenta;data were blinded to obstetricians. Histopathology was performed to confirm MAP. Results: Our results showed that the 3D power Doppler VI ≥ 16 predicted the diagnosis of MAP with 100% sensitivity, 100% specificity which is better than those of 2D ultrasound. While VI > 33.1 measured by 3D Doppler predicted severe MAP with a sensitivity of 73.9% and specificity of 86.4%, which was superior to 2D ultrasound. Conclusion:?In patients with placenta previa, the 3D Doppler’s vascular index accurately predicts MAP. Furthermore, vascular and vascular flow indices of 3D Doppler were more predictive of severe cases of MAP compared to 2D ultrasound.

Local Search-Inspired Rough Sets for Improving Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithm

In this paper we present a new optimization algorithm, and the proposed algorithm operates in two phases. In the first one, multiobjective version of genetic algorithm is used as search engine in order to generate approximate true Pareto front. This algorithm is based on concept of co-evolution and repair algorithm for handling nonlinear constraints. Also it maintains a finite-sized archive of non-dominated solutions which gets iteratively updated in the presence of new solutions based on the concept e-dominance. Then, in the second stage, rough set theory is adopted as local search engine in order to improve the spread of the solutions found so far. The results, provided by the proposed algorithm for benchmark problems, are promising when compared with exiting well-known algorithms. Also, our results suggest that our algorithm is better applicable for solving real-world application problems.

鱼油(FO)被认为是水产饲料行业中最优质的脂肪酸源。鱼油高度富含n-3长链多不饱和脂肪酸(n-3 LC-PUFA),尤其是二十碳五烯酸和二十二碳六烯酸(22:6n-3,DHA)。但是随着鱼油资源的日益匮乏与价格的上涨,植物油被考虑用于替代鱼类饲料中的FO.我们的目标是通过饲喂富含α-亚麻酸或亚油酸的植物油作为FO的替代品来提高淡水鱼的营养价值。第一项研究致力于检测不同的脂肪源对尼罗罗非鱼(Oreochromis niloticus)生长性能,组织脂肪酸组成,血清参数以及与脂质代谢相关基因表达的影响。罗非鱼(13.15±1.11g)被喂养四种具有不同脂肪酸的等氮(39.5±0.4%)和等脂浓度(10%)的饲料,其中包括鱼油组(对照组),大豆油(SO),亚麻芥油(CO)以及三种脂肪酸等比混合组(MO),每组三个重复,20尾鱼/缸。我们的结果显示,膳食中的脂肪源有效的反映在了肝脏和肌肉的脂肪酸组成中。CO组肌肉组织表现出n-3系列脂肪酸的增加,尤其是18:3n-3和DHA,同时伴随着n-6系列脂肪酸的减少。另外我们也发现SO组肝脏的脂质含量最高,而饲喂FO和CO组的肌肉脂质含量最高。CO和MO组的血清低密度脂蛋白(LDL)浓度随多不饱和脂肪酸的增加而降低。这些结果表明,饲料中的亚麻芥油可以满足罗非鱼对n-3LC-PUFA的需要,有效替代饲料中的鱼油并提高罗非鱼的营养价值。此外,第二项研究旨在研究饲料中植物油替代鱼油对鱼类PUFA的体内合成及调控机制的影响。斑马鱼可以通过脂肪酸延长酶(Elovls)和脂肪酸去饱和酶(Fads)合成PUFA。鱼类elovl2基因已经被报道,并通过酵母异源表达对其功能进行了探究。哺乳动物中Elovl2可以有效的延长C20和C22 PUFA,对C18 PUFA的活性较低或无活性,这与我们在斑马鱼中观察相似。我们用CO和SO饲料对elovl2敲除(KO)和野生型(WT)斑马鱼进行了为期4周的投喂实验。正如预期的那样,与WT相比,elovl2 KO斑马鱼显示出C20:5n-3、C22:5n-3和C20:4n-6的含量的升高,伴随着DHA水平的下降.我们发现肝脏受损的PUFA合成影响了关键的脂质生成转录调节剂固醇调节元件结合蛋白1c(srebf1)的表达水平。因此,这项研究表明,elovo2对斑马鱼肝脏,肌肉和性腺中DHA的合成起到至关重要的作用。

Generalization of Some Problems with <i>s</i>-Separation

In this article we apply and discuss El-Desouky technique to derive a generalization of the problem of selecting k balls from an n-line with no two adjacent balls being s-separation. We solve the problem in which the separation of the adjacent elements is not having odd and even separation. Also we enumerate the number of ways of selecting k objects from n-line objects with no two adjacent being of separations m, m + 1, …, pm, where p is positive integer. Moreover we discuss some applications on these problems.

Crop Discrimination Using Field Hyper Spectral Remotely Sensed Data

Crop discrimination through satellite imagery is still problematic. Accuracy of crop classification for high spatial resolution satellite imagery in the intensively cultivated lands of the Egyptian Nile delta is still low. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to determine the optimal hyperspectral wavebands in the spectral range of (400 - 2500 nm) to discriminate between two winter crops (Wheat and Clover) and two summer crops (Maize and Rice). This is considered as a first step to improve crop classification through satellite imagery in the intensively cultivated areas in Egypt. Hyperspectral ground measurements of ASD field Spec3 spectroradiometer was used to monitor the spectral reflectance profile during the period of the maximum growth stage of the four crops. 1-nm-wide was aggregated to 10-nm-wide bandwidths. After accounting for atmospheric windows and/or areas of significant noise, a total of 2150 narrow bands in 400 - 2500 nm were used in the analysis. Spectral reflectance was divided into six spectral zones: blue, green, red, near-infrared, shortwave infrared-I and shortwave infrared-II. One Way ANOVA and Tukey’s HSD post hoc analysis was performed to choose the optimal spectral zone that could be used to differentiate the different crops. Then, linear regression discrimination (LDA) was used to identify the specific optimal wavebands in the spectral zones in which each crop could be spectrally identified. The results of Tukey’s HSD showed that blue, NIR, SWIR-1 and SWIR-2 spectral zones are more sufficient in the discrimination between wheat and clover than green and red spectral zones. At the same time, all spectral zones were quite sufficient to discriminate between rice and maize. The results of (LDA) showed that the wavelength zone (727:1299 nm) was the optimal to identify clover crop while three zones (350:712, 1451:1562, 1951:2349 nm) could be used to identify wheat crop.
