Background: The diverse modes in geographical locations, environmental factors, genetic and racial characteristics play a complex role in determining the pattern of neurological disorders worldwide. Determining the pattern of neurological disorders enables health policymakers to plan evidently for service, training, and research priorities. Few prevalence studies in neurology were conducted in Sudan. Methods: This is a retrospective hospital-based study that reviewed the medical records of patients who attended a Dedicated Neurology Clinic (DNC) in Omdurman, the national Capital of Sudan, for 24 months, from January 2016 to January 2018. This study aimed to determine the DNC pattern of neurological disorders as a representative subset prevalence in Sudan. Neurologists conducted the medical workup for diagnosis after at least two visits. All patients have ethically consented. Results: The total number of patients was 1050. Only 749 patients (71.3%) fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The mean age was 46.5 ± 1.9, and males were 45.3%. 72% were from the Capital. The presenting symptoms were headache (16.6%), seizures (11.5%), limbs weakness (11.2%), and lower percentages for other neurological symptoms. The commonest diagnoses were Stroke 12.4%, Epilepsy 9.3%, Primary Headache 8.8%, Movement Disorders 7.3%, Peripheral Neuropathy 6%, Dementia 4% Neuroinfections 1.4%, Demyelinating Disorders 2.6%, Spinal Spondylotic Radiculopathy 2.6% and 1.7% for Cerebral Venous Thrombosis. Conclusion: The data from Sudan-DNC showed that the most common neurological disorders descendingly were Stroke, Epilepsy, Headache, Movement Disorders, Peripheral Neuropathy, Dementia, Infections, Demyelinating Disorders, Spinal Spondylotic Radiculopathy, and Cerebral Venous Thrombosis. BACKGROUND Digital radiography has recently been used in dentistry as a substitute for conventional film radiography *** imaging has many advantages and provides new possibilities for recording and interpreting radiographic *** system uses different types of digital *** To detect the frequency,type,and reasons behind the appearance of intraoral image artifacts acquired by photostimulable phosphor plates(PSP).METHODS This retrospective descriptive study was conducted in the oral and maxillofacial radiology unit of the dental clinics of the College of Dentistry,Princess Nourah University(PNU).All intraoral digital radiographs were acquired using(Gendex Expert DC.,United States)an intraoral X-ray machine with 7-mA,65-kVP using a PSP system(Soredex DIGORA Optime imaging plate)and laser scanners(Soredex DIGORA Optime),which can house all sizes of reusable intraoral PSP sensor plates with image acquisition software(MIPACS Dental Enterprise viewer 3.2.2).A total of 50000 intraoral radiographs were retrieved from the clinical database from April 2018 to April 2020 to evaluate the reason,type,and solutions to these image *** Overall,50000 intraoral digital radiographs were acquired in a two-year-period;that is,from April 2018 to April *** these,3550(7.1%)retakes were performed due to the presence of image *** radiographs were the most common image type of intraoral retakes(80.8%).Imaging artifacts were divided into three categories:operator,plate and scanning *** of 3550 retakes,5%,1.37%,and 0.73%were related to operator,plate,and scanning errors,*** cone cut was the most common operator error(988 images),Bite marks were the most common plate error(276 images),and delayed scanning artifacts were the most common scanning errors(145 images).The calculated kappa value for interobserver reliability was 0.99,indicating almost perfect interobserver *** Our study discussed intraora

Analysis of 3D localization in underwater optical wireless networks with uncertain anchor positions

Localization accuracy is of paramount importance for the proper operation of underwater optical wireless sensor networks(UOWSNs). However, underwater localization is prone to hostile environmental impediments such as drifts owing to the surface and deep currents. These cause uncertainty in the deployed anchor node positions and pose daunting challenges to achieve accurate location estimations. Therefore, this paper analyzes the performance of three-dimensional(3D) localization for UOWSNs and derives a closedform expression for the Cramer Rao lower bound(CRLB) by using time of arrival(ToA) and angle of arrival(AoA) measurements under the presence of uncertainty in anchor node positions. Numerical results validate the analytical findings by comparing the localization accuracy in scenarios with and without anchor nodes position uncertainty. Results are also compared with the linear least square(LLS) method and weighted LLS(WLLS) method.

Exploitation of Gene Expression and Cancer Biomarkers in Paving the Path to Era of Personalized Medicine

Cancer therapy agents have been used extensively as cytotoxic drugs against tissue or organ of a specific type of cancer. With the better understanding of molecular mcchanislns undcrlying carcinogenesis and cellular events during cancer progression and metastasis, it is now possible to use targeted therapy for these molecular events. Targeted therapy is able to identify cancer patients with dissimilar genetic defects at cellular level for the same cancer type and consequently requires individualized approach for treatment. Cancer therapy begins to shill steadily from the tra- ditional approach of ＂one regimen for all patients＂ to a more individualized approach, through which each patient will be treated specifically according to their specific genetic defects. Personalized medicine accordingly requires identification of indicators or markers that guide in the decision mak- ing of such therapy to the chosen patients for more effective therapy. Cancer biomarkcrs are fre- quently used in clinical practice for diagnosis and prognosis, as well as identification ol responsive patients and prediction of treatment response of cancer patient. The rapid breakthrough and development of microarray and sequencing technologies is probably the main tool for paving the way toward ＂individualized biomarker-driven cancer therapy＂ or ＂personalized medicine＂. In this review, we aim to provide an updated knowledge and overview of the currcnt landscape of cancer biomarkers and their role in personalized medicine, emphasizing the impact of gcnomics Oil the implementation of new potential targeted therapies and development of novel cancer biomarkers in improving the outcome of cancer therapy.

Study of Thermal Reactivity and Kinetics of HMX and Its PBX by Different Methods

Vacuum Stability Test(VST)was used to determine the thermal behavior and kinetic parameters of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine(HMX)and its mixture with hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)as a binder coded as HMX/*** fitting and isoconversional method were applied to determine the kinetic parameters based on VST *** comparison,non-isothermal thermogravimetry analysis data(TGA)was also used to calculate the kinetic parameters by using Kissinger,OFW(Ozawa,Flynn,and Wall)and KAS(Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose)*** Kinetics and Technology Solution(AKTS)software was also used to determine the decomposition kinetics of the studied *** Scanning Calorimetry(DSC)was employed to determine the decomposition heat flow properties of the studied *** show that the activation energies obtained using VST results is 360.1kJ/mol for pure HMX and 186.9kJ/mol for HMX/*** activation energies obtained by the three different methods using TGA results are in the range of 360-368kJ/mol for pure HMX and 190-206kJ/mol for HMX/*** is concluded that values of kinetic parameters obtained by VST are close to that obtained by the different techniques using TG/DTG *** onset decomposition peak of HMX/HTPB is lower than that of HMX where the HTPB binder has negative effect on the thermal stability of *** results of all the applied techniques prove that HMX/HTPB has lower activation energy and heat release than the pure *** polymeric matrix has negative effect on the kinetic parameters of HMX.

Thermal degradation of diethanolamine at stripper condition for CO2 capture: Product types and reaction mechanisms

Amine-based absorption/stripping is one of the promising technology for CO2 capture from natural and industrial gas *** the process,amines and CO2 undergo irreversible reactions to produce undesired compounds,which cause corrosion,foaming,increased viscosity and breakdown of equipment,ultimately contributing to the economic loss and environmental *** this study,the thermal degradation of aqueous diethanolamine in the presence and absence of dissolved CO2 was *** experiments were performed in stainless steel *** results show that thermal degradation in the absence of CO2 was a slow process;triethanolamine,and tris(2-aminoethyl)amine were only the degradation products identified in the mixture In addition,the rate of degradation was very low,only 3%degradation was observed after 4 *** in the presence of CO2,sixteen degradation products were identified,nine of which were new degradation products reported for the first time in this *** 3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-oxazolidinone,1,4-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine and triethanolamine were the most abundant degradation *** remaining DEA concentration after 4 weeks was about 20%of the total amine *** most probable degradation reactions and their mechanisms are also proposed.

Detection of Copy-Move Forgery in Digital Images Using Singular Value Decomposition

This paper presents an improved approach for detecting copy-move forgery based on singular value decomposition(SVD).It is a block-based method where the image is scanned from left to right and top to down by a sliding window with a determined *** each step,the SVD is ***,the diagonal matrix’s maximum value(norm)is selected(representing the scaling factor for SVD and a fixed value for each set of matrix elements even when rotating thematrix or scaled).Then,the similar norms are grouped,and each leading group is separated into many subgroups(elements of each subgroup are neighbors)according to 8-adjacency(the subgroups for each leading group must be far from others by a specific distance).After that,a weight is assigned for each subgroup to classify the image as forgery or ***,the F1 score of the proposed system is measured,reaching 99.1%.This approach is robust against rotation,scaling,noisy images,and illumination *** is compared with other similarmethods and presents very promised results.

Biometric-based authentication systems have attracted more attention than traditional authentication techniques such as passwords in the last two *** biometrics such as fingerprint,palm,iris,palm vein and finger vein and other biometrics have been *** of the challenges in biometrics is physical *** of finger vein is of the biometrics least exposed to physical *** methods have been proposed for authentication with the help of this biometric that suffer from weaknesses such as high computational complexity and low identification *** paper presents a novel method of scattering wavelet-based identity *** wavelet extracts image features from Gabor wavelet filters in a structure similar to convolutional neural *** distinguishes this algorithm from other popular feature extraction methods such as deep learning methods,filter-based methods,statistical methods,etc.,is that this algorithm has very high skill and accuracy in differentiating similar images but belongs to different classes,even when the image is subject to serious damage such as noise,angle changes or pixel location,this descriptor still generates feature vectors in away thatminimizes classifier *** improves classification and *** proposed method has been evaluated using two databases Finger Vein USM(FV-USM)and Homologous Multimodal biometrics Traits(SDUMLA-HMT).In addition to having reasonable computational complexity,it has recorded excellent identification rates in noise,rotation,and transmission *** best,it has a 98.2%identification rate for the SDUMLA-HMT database and a 96.1%identification rate for the FV-USM database.
