Sero-Prevalence and Risk factors of Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) in Afgoye District Lower Shabelle Region, Somalia

Contagious bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) is an infectious and highly contagious respiratory disease of cattle and water buffalo, caused by the Mycoplasma mycoides subspecies mycoides. It induces significant economic losses and leads to a severe livestock production problem, negatively influencing people’s livelihoods of affected countries. In Somalia, there is no updated data on the prevalence and distribution of the disease. Hence, a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2022 to June 2023 in different villages under the Afgoye District of lower Shabelle region, Somalia. The main purpose of this study is to assess the sero-prevalence and identify the associated risk factors for the occurrence of the disease. In this study, villages, age, sex, breed, and body condition were considered as risk factors. A total of 90 blood samples were collected and tested in the laboratory using the Anti-CBPP Elisa kit test. Out of 90 serum samples from herd cattle, 32 were positive, resulting in an overall prevalence of 35.5%. In addition, we found a statistically significant variation between the prevalence of the disease and factors such as sex, age, body condition and breeds. In summary, the overall prevalence of Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in this study area is worth to be considered because there is a low quality of health care and less awareness of the Contagious bovine Pleuropneumonia effects on herds, which warrants the official authorities to act and follow appropriate preventive and control measures to reduce the incidence of the disease and generate appropriate controlling and prevention measures in all regions of Somalia.

A Family of GCK-MODY, About 02 Cases and Review of the Literature

Positive diagnosis of diabetes is currently easy, but typing diagnosis of diabetes still remains a challenge for every clinician. It is currently accepted that types of diabetes apart from T1D and T2D can expand and include several forms of diabetes mellitus;From gestational diabetes, to all forms of secondary diabetes mellitus due to medications, intercurrent disease but also infections, and finally monogenic diabetes, whose diagnosis is not always easy to establish. The aim is to reveal the difficulties that clinicians may face in the process of etiological diagnosis regarding the suspicion of this type of monogenic diabetes, through the study of 2 cases, in which MODY type diabetes was suspected. Today we recognize 17 different genetic mutations that can all lead to MODY diabetes, the most common mutation of which is GCK coding for the glucokinase, the real sensor of pancreatic Beta-cell. The truly stable glycemic profile, with an A1C ranging between 7% and 7.5%, confirmed with a TIR always above 70% and a good MAGE, but also the rarity of degenerative complications and pharmacological therapeutic abstention which can last for years, these would be the most striking clinical characteristics of a GCK MODY.

[目的]孵化后期热处理能够在一定程度上提高肉鸡的耐热性,而骨骼肌和肝脏线粒体功能及温敏瞬时电位(transient receptor potential,TRP)离子通道与机体耐热性密切相关。因此,本试验旨在研究孵化后期热处理(thermal manipulation,TM)对雏鸡骨骼肌和肝脏温敏TRP离子通道及线粒体功能的影响。[方法]选取240枚AA肉鸡种蛋随机分为3组(每组8个重复,每重复10枚种蛋):CON组,37.5℃孵化;TM1组,在孵化期第16~18天39.5℃热处理3 h·d^(-1);TM2组,在孵化期第16~18天41.5℃热处理3 h·d^(-1)。出雏后测定1日龄直肠温度,检测胸肌、腿肌和肝脏组织相关基因表达水平。[结果]与CON组相比,孵化后期热处理显著降低了1日龄雏鸡的直肠温度(P<0.01),TM1组雏鸡腿肌器官指数显著增加(P<0.05)。与CON组相比,TM2组雏鸡胸肌的avUCP基因表达水平显著降低(P<0.01),COXⅣ(P<0.05)、Tfam(P<0.01)、PGC1α(P<0.05)、ATP5B(P<0.01)和IDH3α(P<0.01)基因表达水平均显著增加,TRPV1、TRPV2和TRPV3基因表达水平均显著降低(P<0.05),SERCA1基因表达水平显著增加(P<0.01)。与CON组相比,TM2组雏鸡腿肌的avUCP基因表达水平显著降低(P<0.01),ATP5B基因表达水平显著增加(P<0.05);TM2组雏鸡肝脏组织的Tfam和SERCA1基因表达水平显著增加(P<0.05)。相关性分析结果显示,温敏TRP基因表达水平与线粒体经典产热基因avUCP和avANT表达呈正相关关系,与线粒体氧化磷酸化功能相关基因表达水平呈负相关关系。[结论]孵化后期热处理可通过降低1日龄雏鸡胸肌的温敏TRP基因和线粒体产热相关基因表达水平水平,增加线粒体生物发生及氧化磷酸化功能相关基因表达水平,引起线粒体热适应性变化。

Advancing Early Detection of Colorectal Adenomatous Polyps via Genetic Data Analysis: A Hybrid Machine Learning Approach

In this study, a hybrid machine learning (HML)-based approach, incorporating Genetic data analysis (GDA), is proposed to accurately identify the presence of adenomatous colorectal polyps (ACRP) which is a crucial early detector of colorectal cancer (CRC). The present study develops a classification ensemble model based on tuned hyperparameters. Surpassing accuracy percentages of early detection approaches used in previous studies, the current method exhibits exceptional performance in identifying ACRP and diagnosing CRC, overcoming limitations of CRC traditional methods that are based on error-prone manual examination. Particularly, the method demonstrates the following CRP identification accuracy data: 97.7 ± 1.1, precision: 94.3 ± 5, recall: 96.0 ± 3, F1-score: 95.7 ± 4, specificity: 97.3 ± 1.2, average AUC: 0.97.3 ± 0.02, and average p-value: 0.0425 ± 0.07. The findings underscore the potential of this method for early detection of ACRP as well as clinical use in the development of CRC treatment planning strategies. The advantages of this approach are highly expected to contribute to the prevention and reduction of CRC mortality.
