Thrombosis of the Transverse Sinus: About a Clinical Observation and Review of the Literature

Cerebral venous thrombosis has an unfavorable prognosis. It is a rather rare pathology concerning 3 to 5 cases per million inhabitants. The clinical symptomatology also varies according to the topography of the venous thrombosis and, in some cases, the CVT can have an unusual presentation. Progress and accessibility of non-invasive imaging currently allow early diagnosis of CVT. Brain MRI is the reference method for the diagnosis of CVT. We report a case of transverse sinus thrombosis in a 32-year-old male patient who consulted for headaches through which we want to study the etiological, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutic aspects as well as the evolutionary profile. The clinical history dates back to 2 weeks ago with frontal headaches radiating to the occipital region, throbbing of severe intensity, progressive onset and permanent evolution associated with right unilateral anterior purulent rhinorrhea. he had no nasal obstruction, epistaxis, hearing loss or other otological symptoms;no neurological deficit or notion of head trauma. Cerebral and maxillofacial computed tomography showed right maxillary sinusitis and right transverse sinus thrombosis. We carried out medical treatment based on antibiotics and analgesics without the use of anticoagulants. The evolution was favorable after four weeks of treatment. Conclusion: Transverse sinus thrombosis has a non-specific and heterogeneous clinical presentation. headaches are the first sign. MRI and CT can help establish the diagnosis. The treatment is both etiological and symptomatic.

Geophysics Contribution for the Determination of Aquifers with a Case Study

The determination and monitoring of aquifer formations on the eastern border of Moroccan Gharb basin are very difficult because of their spatial and temporal variation. To delimit these formations, a geophysical survey of 52 geoelectric soundings was performed with a mesh of 500 m and electrodes distance between 1000 m and 3000 m. Geoelectric sections and resistivity maps show a horst and graben structure. The correlation of existing oil drillings shows that the Jurassic and Neogene formations are both affected by normal faults causing Jurassic deposits collapse with local thickening of the Miocene deposits, and reverse faults delimiting tectonic slices due to tension caused by prerifaine nappe advance. This fact confirms the generated structure by the resistivity method. The isobath map of resistant formations's roof show average depths extending from 400 to 800 m for calcareous sandstone that are potential aquifers while oil drillings indicate over 1000 m depths.

Geological Context Mapping of Batouri Gold District (East Cameroon) from Remote Sensing Imagering, GIS Processing and Field Works

The Batouri area is located in the Adamawa-Yade domain in East Cameroon region, and has a high geological potential as a host for gold deposits. It is covered by thick forest where outcrops are sometime scarce. The purpose of this study is to generate and combine different geological information which makes up the specificity of the Batouri gold District, in order to contribute to the better knowledge of its geological setting. From satellite imageries, GIS tools and field data;lithological units, lineament and density maps have been dressed at regional-scale of 1/400.000. The mapping has enabled the discovery of spatial and topologic relationships between shear zones, lineaments, gold occurrences and often mineralized granitic intrusions. According to the field data, lithological and lineament maps, the lithology of the Batouri gold District is characterized by alkali granitoids (tonalite, granodiorite, syenomonzo-granite, alkaline granite) hosted by orthogneisses and migmatites as gold mineralization hosts;while the lineaments show a major shear zones trending NE-SW defined by presence of mylonites. The shear zones crosscut all lithologies, mostly granodiorite where majority of gold occurrences is observed;locally, nearest these shear zones, rocks are transformed to the mylonites and gold is concentrated along. From density map, it is shown that the high gold mineralization zone corresponds to highest lineaments density. All those data suggest that gold mineralization in the Batouri district is controlled by tectonic and lithology. It is conclusive that Batouri gold deposit is epigenetic gold set emplaced in orogenic setting, during the post-collisional stage of the Central African Fold Belt (CAFB) and the Congo Craton (CC).

Perceived Trust and Payment Methods: An Empirical Study of MarkaVIP Company

This empirical study focused on investigating the perceived trust surrogated by a number of hy-pothesized factors and its effect on the choice of method of payment. The data were collected using a questionnaire, as the instrument for the primary data collection, with total collected back responses of 214 from customers of MarkaVIP. Structural equation modeling technique was used to fully analyze the data in order to determine what level of the relationship between the constituting factors of the perceived trust and the method of payment. The main findings were related to confirming the seven main hypotheses of the research that were related to testing if some factors were important to forming perceived trust by customers. Four factors (reputation, security, familiarity, and ease of use) were found to have a positive effect and the remaining three were not (privacy, size and usefulness). In addition, having perceived trust meant no preference to any method of payment by the customers.

The Impact of Social media Networks Websites Usage on Students’ Academic Performance

Social Networks Sites (SNSs) are dominating all internet users’ generations, especially the students’ communities. Consequently, academic institutions are increasingly using SNSs which leads to emerge a crucial question regarding the impact of SNSs on students’ academic performance. This research investigates how and to what degree the use of SNSs affects the students’ academic performance. The current research’s data was conducted by using drop and collect surveys on a large population from the University of Jordan. 366 undergraduate students answered the survey from different faculties at the university. In order to study the impact of SNSs on student’s academic performance, the research hypotheses was tested by using descriptive analysis, T-test and ANOVA. Research results showed that there was a significant impact of SNS on the student’s academic performance. Also, there was a significant impact of SNS use per week on the student’s academic performance, whereas no differences found in the impact of use of SNSs on academic performance due to age, academic achievement, and use per day to most used sites. The findings of this research can be used to suggest future strategies in enhancing student’s awareness in efficient time management and better multitasking that can lead to improving study activities and academic achievements.

ITO Etched by Photolithography Used in the Fabrication of Flexible Organic Solar Cells with PET Substrates

In this study, the authors have shown the power conversion efficiency of flexible organic solar cells. The structure of the device is PET/ITO/PEDOT: PSS/P3hT: PCBM/Al. P3hT (poly-3-hexylthiophene). It was used as an electron donor, PCBM ([6, 6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester) as an electron acceptor and PEDOT: PSS used as a hIL (hole injection layer). These materials were deposited by spin coating method on the flexible substrates. Photolithography method is used to etch ITO. The electrical parameters of the fabricated cells were investigated by means of J (V), FF (fill factor), the efficiency ( ), photocurrent and IPCE measurement. It was observed that 45% of the absorbed photons are converted into current. The results obtained using etching technology by photolithography is better than that obtained in the clean room.
