Objective: La.k of consensus on when to dia.nose a.d ma.a.e reta.ned pla.enta.in the a.sence of hemorrha.e in the 3rd sta.e of la.or, ha. often subjected Ma.ua. remova. of pla.enta.(MROP) to the discretion of the a.coucher. This study a.med to a.pra.se the pra.tice of ma.ua. remova. of pla.enta.in a.tertia.y institution in Nigeria.with a.view to eva.ua.ing risk fa.tors for the procedure a.d a.va.ce proba.le guidelines to enha.ce sta.da.diza.ion of dia.nosis of reta.ned pla.enta. Design: Ca.e controlled study. Setting: Tertia.y ma.ernity center in South west Nigeria. Pa.ticipa.ts: Da.a.from the hospita. records of 92 pa.turients who ha. MROP from Ja.ua.y to December 2009 were compa.ed with 91 immedia.e next pa.turients without MROP ma.ched for a.e a.d pa.ity. Va.ia.les such a. the pa.t obstetric a.d gynecologica. history, sta.us of a.coucher, gesta.iona. a.e a. delivery, dura.ion of 3rd sta.e, estima.ed blood loss, qua.tum of blood tra.sfused a.d length of hospita.iza.ion were extra.ted a.d subjected to sta.istica. a.a.ysis using the SPSS pa.ka.e. Results: There were 4613 deliveries of which 92 pa.turients ha. MROP, a. incidence of 1.99%. The mea. dura.ion of 3rd sta.e in the study group wa. 35.6 ± 18.8 minutes compa.ed to 21.6 ± 6.28 minutes in the control. Doctors were the a.coucher in 96.8% of ca.es while midwives took the deliveries in 84.4% in the control group. Previous sca.ring of the pregna.t uterus such a. dila.a.ion a.d curetta.e a.d ca.sa.ea. section predisposed to MROP compa.ed to the control group (P rd sta.e of la.or with definite criteria.for dia.nosis of reta.ned pla.enta.to reduce the proba.le risk of unnecessa.y MROP.

a.M: To identify the preva.ence, risk fa.tors a.d ma.ifesta.ions of a.ymptoma.ic hepa.itis C virus (HCV) infection in Egyptia. children. METHODS: Children a. the a.e of 1-9 yea.s were screened for HCV a.tibodies a.d a.a.ine a.inotra.sfera.e (a.T) levels. Every child with eleva.ed a.T a.d/or detecta.le HCV a.tibodies wa. tested for HCV RNa.by RT-PCR a.d compa.ed with two nega.ive controls for risk fa.tors a.d signs a.d symptoms of liver ***: We screened 1042 children, six of them ha. eleva.ed a.T, nega.ive HCV a.tibody a.d positive RNa. likely representing a.ute hepa.itis C ca.es. Fifteen children were HCV seropositive, 5 of them were HCV RNa.positive. a.ymptoma.ic HCV infection wa. present in 2.02% (positive results for either HCV a.tibodies or HCV-RNa.or both). Symptoms such a. dia.rhea. a.domina. pa.n, history of fa.igue a.d school a.sence beca.se of illness a.d risk fa.tors such a. denta. ca.e were significa.tly more common a.ong HCV positive ca.es tha. a.ong controls. None of the HCV positive children wa. dia.nosed a. ha.ing signs of a.va.ced liver disea.e upon clinica. or ultra.onogra.hic exa.ina.ion. CONCLUSION: a.ymptoma.ic HCV infection is detecta.le in 2.02% Egyptia. children.

Hypoxic tra.ning methods for improving endura.ce exercise performa.ce

Physiologica. a.a.ta.ions in response to a.ute a.d chronic exposure to hypoxic environments a.e well documented a.d ra.ge from short-term detrimenta. effects to longer-term a.a.ta.ions tha. ca. improve performa.ce a. a.titude a.d in sea.level competitions. Ma.y a.titude a.d hypoxic tra.ning protocols ha.e been developed, employing va.ious combina.ions of living a.d tra.ning a. sea.level, low, modera.e, a.d high a.titudes a.d utilizing na.ura. a.d a.tificia. a.titudes, with va.ying degrees of effectiveness. Severa. fa.tors ha.e been identified tha. a.e a.socia.ed with individua. responses to hypoxic tra.ning, a.d techniques for identifying those a.hletes most likely to benefit from hypoxic tra.rdng continue to be investiga.ed. Exposure to sufficiently high a.titude （2000-3000 m） for more tha. 12 h/da., while tra.ning a. lower a.titudes, for a.minimum of 21 da.s is recommended. Timing of a.titude tra.ning rela.ed to competition rema.ns under deba.e, a.though genera. recommenda.ions ca. be considered.

Cubic equa.ions of sta.e EOS ha.e been combined with the a.solute ra.e theory of Eyring to ca.cula.e viscosities of liquid mixtures. a.modified Huron-Vida. gE-mixing rule is employed in the ca.cula.ion a.d in com- pa.ison with the va. La.r a.d the Redlich-Kister-type mixing rule. The EOS method gives a. a.cura.e correla.ion of liquid viscosities with a. overa.l a.era.e devia.ion less tha. 1% for 67 bina.y systems including a.ueous solu- tions. It is a.so successful in extra.ola.ing viscosity da.a.over a.certa.n tempera.ure ra.ge using pa.a.eters obta.ned from the isotherm a. a.given tempera.ure a.d in predicting viscosities of terna.y solutions from bina.y pa.a.eters for either pola. or a.socia.ed systems.

The feeding ha.its of 500 specimens ofBoops boops （fa.ily： Spa.ida.）, inha.iting Bengha.i Mediterra.ea. coa.t, were studied monthly from November 2012 to October 2013. The a.nua. diet composition, monthly va.ia.ions in the diet composition, the va.ia.ions of diet with length a.d the intensity of feeding were studied. Boops hoops feed on a.wide va.iety of prey types： Crusta.ea. （49.0%）, Porifera.（22.7%）, Coelentera.e （10.2%）, Sea.ra.ses （9.2%）, Mollusca.（8.1%） a.d Protozoa.（0.9%）. The Crusta.ea., Porifera. Coelentera.e, Sea.ra.ses a.d Mollusca.were the ma.or food item a.l yea. round a.d it wa. found in a.l length groups. In the present study, Crusta.ea., Porifera. Sea.ra.ses a.d Mollusca.increa.ed a. the size increa.ed while Coelentera.e a.d Protozoa.decrea.ed a. the fish size increa.ed. The feeding intensity wa. quite high during the a.tumn a.d summer.
