Abundance and Distribution of Macroinvertebrates of the Affon River in Bénin

This study focuses on the biodiversity of macroinvertebrates of the Affon River. To reach this goal, eight stations were sampled and physical parameters such as temperature, pH, conductivity, transparency, depth, total dissolved solids (TDS) and dissolved oxygen were measured. Chemical parameters such as ammonium nitrite and phosphate were measured in the laboratory. We identified 9755 macroinvertebrates belonging to 4 classes, 14 orders, and 49 families. Chironomidae were the most abundant family whereas other sensitive insect’s orders such as Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera, and Plecoptera were rarely found, suggesting a poor water quality of the Affon River. The principal components analysis yielded three groups of stations: the first group (Tenéka 2 and 3) characterized by high values of ammonium and phosphate and low values of conductivity and TDS;the second group (Tanéka 1 and Kolokondé 1) with low values of pH, transparency, ammonium and phosphate;and the third group of stations (Kolokondé 2, Kpébouko1, Kpébouko 2, and Affon) marked by high values of conductivity, TDS, transparency, depth and temperature. This study is a crucial step for any management and monitoring of the Affon River.

Introduction. Pathogenesis of sarcoidosis remains partially unknown. Cutaneous lesions are frequent (20 to 35% of cases). Their clinical features and follow- up data are highly variable. Numerous treatments have been proposed. The clinical features and followup data of four patients with chronic cutaneous sarcoidosis treated with methotrexate are reported. Case report. Mean age of patients (3 female, 1 male) was 40 years old (34- 49 years). One patient presented with a lupus pernio, two patients with papules and nodules, and the last with an annular lesion of the face. All patients had been previously treated with topical corticosteroids and/or hydroxychloroquine without any success. Patients were treated with methotrexate at doses ranging from 12.5 mg to 30 mg per week for at least 6 months. Complete remission of cutaneous lesions was observed in 3 of 4 patients after a mean treatment duration of 29 months (16 to 36). Methotrexate side effects were observed in one patient (elevated liver enzymes) leading to methotrexate discontinuation. Discussion. Methotrexate seems to be an effective treatment of cutaneous sarcoidosis. It should be used namely in patients who failed to respond to previous treatments with topical corticosteroids or antimalarial drugs.

Evaluation of Two Serological Screening Kits for Hepatitis C Virus Infection at the Regional Blood Transfusion Center of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Introduction: In Burkina Faso, screening for hepatitis C virus in blood donations is made using sensitive ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) type kits. However, no confirmation of the positive results obtained with these kits is made before their notification to the blood donors due to the high costs of the confirmation kits of immunoblots type. Objective: Evaluate two rapid kits against one immunoblot kit in order to determine the most efficiency which will be proposed as an alternative for the confirmation of ELISA tests in the socio-economic context of Burkina Faso. Material and Methods: The study was carried out using a panel of 72 sera, of which 22 were positive for anti-HCV antibodies and 50 were negative. The sera were tested using the Monolisa® HCV Ag-Ab ULTRA kit and confirmed with the DECISCAN HCV Plus kit. The panel was then tested with the SD BIOLINE HCV kit and the HCV TRI-DOT kit and the results obtained were evaluated against those of the DECISCAN HCV Plus kit used as “gold standard”. Results: Compared to the DECISCAN HCV Plus kit, the HCV TRI-DOT kit exhibited a sensitivity and specificity of 100% and the SD BIOLINE HCV kit a sensitivity of 86.36% and a specificity of 100%. Conclusion: Based on the results recorded by the HCV TRI-DOT kit, it would be best suited to the sero-epidemiological context of blood donors from the National Blood Transfusion Center and could be proposed as an alternative for confirmation of ELISA tests.

Introduction. Hypopigmented mycosis fungoides is a rare clinical form of the disease, first described in 1978. Since then, only a hundred odd cases have been documented. Case report. A young 19 year-old African woman had presented with hypochromatic macules since the age of 9 and for which the diagnostic enquiry had finally concluded in hypopig mentedmycosis fungoides. Discussion. The particularities of this form of mycosis fungoides, grade I according to the TNM classification, are principally its onset in black-skinned persons or of Asian origin, and the age of early onset with a predominance of pediatric cases. Its course is indolent for several years and thus source of delayed diagnosis. The differential diagnoses to be evoked are basically vitiligo,achromate eczematides and parapsoriasisis. The post-inflammatory depigmentation, frequent in black-skinned subjects, is only an eliminating diagnosis. Its treatment is that of classical Grade I mycosis fungoides:topical mechlorethamine, phototherapy and topical corticosteroids.

法国一项回顾性和前瞻性多中心研究对肿瘤坏死因子α抑制剂（anti-tumor necrosis factorα,TNFα抑制剂）治疗皮肤结节病的疗效和安全性做出了观察报告。自2004年1月~2016年1月期间,患者来自于多个教学医院、转诊中心、肺科、皮肤科和内科,病理确诊为结节病,并接受抗-TNFα治疗。对治疗反应的评估使用肺外器官严重度评分（ePOST,0为不受影响,6为非常严重）。
