A New Titanosauriform Sauropod from the Early Late Cretaceous of Dongyang,Zhejiang Province

A new titanosauriform sauropod Dongyangosaurus sinensis gen. et sp. nov. from the early Late Cretaceous of Dongyang County, Zhejiang Province, is erected based on a partial postcranial skeleton. It is characterized by complex laminae on the lateral surface of the neural spines and postzygapophyses of dorsal vertebrae, a distinct fossa on the ventral surfaces of the prezygapophyses of dorsal vertebrae, distinct fossae are also present on the lateral surface of the postzygapophysis of anterior caudal vertebrae; pubis is shorter than ischium, the small obturator foramen of pubis elongated, and nearly closed. The lamina complexity of dorsal vertebrae in Dongyangosaurus indicates that a higher diversity of titanosauriformes occurred during the early Late Cretaceous in China.

Hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection is major global issue, because chronic HBV infection is strongly associated with liver cancer. HBV spread worldwide with variousmutations and variations. This variability, called quasispecies, is derived from no proof-reading capacity of viral reverse transcriptase. So far, thousands of studies reported that the variety of genome is closely related to the geographic distribution and clinical characteristics. Recent technological advances including capillary sequencer and next generation sequencer have made in easier to analyze mutations. The variety of HBV genome is related to not only antigenicity of HBs-antigen but also resistance to antiviral therapies. Understanding of these variations is important for the development of diagnostic tools and the appropriate therapy for chronic hepatitis B. In this review, recent publications in relation to HBV mutations and variations are updated and summarized.

Geological observations indicate that there are only a few rocks of Archean Earth and no Hadean rocks on the surface of the present-day *** these facts,many scientists believe that the primordial continents never existed during Hadean Earth,and the continental volume has kept *** the other hand,recent studies reported the importance of the primordial continents on the origin of life,implying their *** this paper,we discussed the possible process that could explain the loss of the primordial continents with the assumption that they existed in the *** depending on the timing of the initiation of plate tectonics and its convection style,subduction erosion,which is observed on the present-day Earth,might have carried the primordial continents into the deep mantle.

A new genus and species of nodosaurid dinosaur： Zhejiangosaurus lishuiensis gen. et sp. nov. is erected herein. It is characterized by the sacrum consisting of at least three true sacral vertebrae, 5 caudal dorsal vertebrae fused to form the presacral rod, wide divergence of long slender preacetabular process of the ilium from the middle line of the body, and the fourth trochanter located at the femoral mid-length.

A New Nodosaurid Ankylosaur from the Chaochuan Formation of Dongyang, Zhejiang Province, China

Dongyangopelta yangyanensis gen. et sp. nov. from the Chaochuan Formation （Albian - Cenomanian） of Dongyang, Zhejiang Province, China is characterized： the convex anterior surface of the first presacral rod centrum strongly inflates laterally and slightly curves posteriorly; the fused pelvic shield composes of larger pebble-shaped bosses, defined by smaller tubercles or flat stretches of bone; most osteoderms are heavily roughened with notches and grooves for dermal attachment along the edge; domed triradiate osteoderm is present; sigmoid curvature of the dorsal surface of the ilium is present; the preacetabular process curves lateroventraUy at the anterior end and has a shallow groove in the edge of the lateral and anterior ends and strong lateromedial expansion of the distal femur. The femoral head is well separated from the greater trochanter, indicating that Dongyangopeita is a nodosaurid ankylosaur, the second from southeast China. Phylogenetic analysis also positions this taxon in the Nodosauridae clade. Dongyangopelta differs from Zhejiangosaurus in the characters of presacral rod, ilium, and femur. Dongyangopelta represents the first ankylosaur outside North America and Europe that definitively possesses a pelvic shield with fused armor.

Carbon and nitrogen species-involved TiO2 （CN-TiO2） were systematically synthesized by thermal condensa- tion of cyanuric acid on the TiO2 surface. And the photocatalytic reactions for H2 production from sacrificial aque- ous solutions were performed on several CN-TiO2 photocatalyst under visible-light irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of the CN-TiO2 was influenced by total amounts of carbon and nitrogen species, and the preferable activity was ten times higher than that of pristine carbon nitride. Here, the states of the CN-TiO2 photocatalyst were charac- terized by XPS, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy as well as DFT calculations. The photo-electrochemical measure- ments confirmed that the enhancement of H2 production is associated with effective charge separation under photo- excitation of highly dispersed carbon nitride on the TiO2 surface.

Accessibility for All, Becak Drivers in Jakarta Since 1988

The Becak (a manpowered tricycle taxi) was exported to major Indonesian cities via China from Yokohama in the 1930s. During the mid-20th century they spread throughout the major cities of Asia, and came to be used as a vehicle for daily use. However, since the 1970s, growing traffic congestion caused by an increase in the number of motorcycles and cars, has pushed the becak into the back streets of cities. In the case of Indonesia, government came to strictly prohibit them through the perception that they were a symbol of backwardness and they have gradually disappeared from the city. This culture of viewing becak as a symbol of backwardness has remained ingrained over the decades. In Jakarta, they were banned from use in lanes and back-alleys to finally disappear from public view through a brutal clearance method known as ‘becak hunting’(crackdowns) in 1992. However, they re-emerged on Jakarta’s streets during the chaos after Suharto’s resignation in 1998. Governor Sutiyoso at the time banned them anew, yet democratic transformation through the rise of civil society did not tolerate subsequent crackdowns As of 2016, hundreds of becak vehicles now plow the streets of Jakarta, mainly concentrated in back-alley neighbourhoods. Based on primary data sources gathered over a 30-year period (1989, 1998, and 2011-2015), this paper examines socio-economic transformation and continuity and investigates the extent in which the changing political economy of Jakarta affects drivers’ accessibility. Furthermore, the paper forecasts the survival strategies of becak drivers under ungoing policy changes and the positions of previous and present Governors.

A new species of tapejarid pterosaur, Huaxiapterus coroUatus sp. nov. is erected on the basis of a nearly complete skull and postcranial skeleton from the Lower Cretaceous Jiufotang Formation of Liaoning Province, China. Huaxiapterus coroUatus sp. nov. is characterized by a hatchet-shaped rectangular process on the premaxilla, whose short axis is perpendicular to the anterior margin of the premaxillae. Except for this process, other characters of the skull such as the breadth of the snout between the anterior margin of the nasoantorbital fenestra and the anterior margin of the premaxilla are similar to that of Huaxiapterus jii. Huaxiapterus and a second Chinese tapejarid, Sinopterus, share several unique cranial characters in common with Tapejara and these three genera appear to be more closely related to each other than to other azhdarchoids. The Chinese tapejarids （Sinopterus and Huaxiapterus） have relatively elongate skulls and weakly developed cranial crests and seem to be less derived than Tapejara, with its shorter, deeper skull and large cranial crest. Tupuxuarids （Tupuxuara and Thalassodromeus） have often been associated with tapejarids in the family Tapejaridae, but this relationship is controversial because some phylogenetic analyses have supported the pairing of tupuxuarids with Azhdarchidae. We propose that Tapejaridae be restricted to Tapejara, Sinopterus and Huaxiapterus.

Ileus caused by cholesterol crystal embolization: A case report

Cholesterol crystal embolization(CCE) is a rare systemic embolism caused by formation of cholesterol crystals from atherosclerotic plaques. CCE usually occurs during vascular manipulation, such as vascular surgery or endovascular catheter manipulation, or due to anticoagulation or thrombolytic therapy. We report a rare case of intestinal obstruction caused by spontaneous CCE. An 81-year-old man with a history of hypertension was admitted for complaints of abdominal pain, bloating, and anorexia persisting for 4 mo. An abdominal computed tomography revealed intestinal ileus. His symptoms were immediately relieved by an ileus tube insertion, and he was discharged 6 d later. However, these symptoms immediately reappeared and persisted, and partial resection of the small intestine was performed. A histopathological examination indicated that small intestine obstruction was caused by CCE. At the 12-mo follow-up, the patient showed no evidence of CCE recurrence. Thus, in cases of intestinal obstruction, CCE should also be considered.
