In order to model the dispersal of volcanic particles in the atmosphere and their deposition on the ground,one has to simulate an advection-diffusionsedimentation process on a large spatial *** we compare a Lattice Boltzmann and a Cellular Automata *** results show that for high Peclet regimes,the cellular automata model produce results that are as accurate as the lattice Boltzmann model and is computationally more effective.

The majority of research on the moral development of nurses is in line with Kohlberg’s theory. However, Gilligan noted that care and justice perspectives coexist in moral conflict, and during the growth process, each complements each other and promotes moral development and maturation. Chally, referring to Gilligan’s theory, which has the perspective of relationship-focused care, argued that the moral development of nurses should be considered from both care and justice perspectives. In this paper, we analyzed publications that used Gilligan protocol to conduct research on moral conflicts experienced by nurses. Given the importance of care and justice perspectives in moral reasoning, Gilligan’s theory, which incorporates both perspectives, is useful for analyzing moral reasoning in nurses. Our analysis suggests that attachment and connections based on relationships with patients and self-care are essential elements of care, and self-care is important in moral decision making. The inequality between nurse and physician roles was an issue raised with the justice perspective. Since nurses’ roles are strongly influenced by their affection toward and connections with their patients, it is important not to overemphasize either perspective.

Regulatory T(Treg) cells play key roles in various immune responses. For example, Treg cells contribute to the complex pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD), which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis during onset or development of that disease. Many animal models of IBD have been used to investigate factors such as pathogenic cytokines, pathogenic bacteria, and T-cell functions, including those of Treg cells. In addition, analyses of patients with IBD facilitate our understanding of the precise mechanism of IBD. This review article focuses on the role of Treg cells and outlines the pathogenesis and therapeutic strategies of IBD based on previous reports.

＜正＞As part of the Japan-China Joint Studies on Origin and Transport of Aeolian Dust and its Impact on Climate（ADEC）,a Mie-scattering depolarization lidar was developed and operated in Aksu,Xinjiang,China（40.62 N,80.83 E,1028 m above mean sea level）to investigate the vertical structure of the dust layer over the Taklimakan ***,an oasis city,is located on the northern part of the Taklimakan Desert.A strong dust storm occurred in Aksu on 13-16 April *** this study,by directly solving the lidar equation,we estimated the backscattering ratio at the lowest height during the dust storm.

The plasma homocysteine concentration is a good indicator of various diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, and dementia. This study examined the relationship between plasma homocysteine concentrations and dietary habits in a population of elderly Japanese people from the Amami Islands. Data from 1131 participants collected during a baseline survey for the Japan Multi-institutional Collaborative Cohort study, which is a prospective cohort study, were used. Information on dietary habits was collected using a food frequency questionnaire. The plasma homocysteine concentration was associated with age in women only. Smoking in men and menopause were significantly associated with homocysteine concentrations. Analysis of blood biochemical data showed that estimate of glomerular filtration rate negatively correlated with plasma homocysteine in women (R = ?0.91, p < 0.001) and men (R = ?0.49, p < 0.001). There was no common food associated with homocysteine concentrations among the groups, but in each group, some food types were associated with homocysteine concentrations. In men, Chinese tea was a common factor showing a negative correlation with homocysteine concentrations. Natto showed a negative correlation with homocysteine concentrations in non-smoking men (β = ?0.11, p < 0.05) and premenopausal women (β = ?0.20, p < 0.01). Eggs (β = ?0.21, p < 0.01) and food processed from fish eggs (β = ?0.21, p < 0.01) negatively correlated with homocysteine concentrations in smoking men. Miso soup (β = ?0.13, p < 0.01) and yoghurt (β = ?0.10, p < 0.05) negatively correlated with homocysteine concentrations in postmenopausal women. Consumption of folate-rich food did not necessarily correlate with a low plasma Hcy concentration.

Crucial roles of macrophages in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease

Macrophages are key players in various immune responses. In addition to functions in innate immunity such as antigen phagocytosis and cytokine production, antigen presentation by macrophage represents a link between innate and acquired immunity. During inflammatory processes, na?ve monocytes differentiate into proinflammatory M1 and anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages. Resident monocytes/macrophages contribute to immune response that maintains tissue-specific homeostasis. In the target organs of autoimmune diseases, macrophages have dual functions in both the induction and suppression of autoimmune responses, which are mediated by production of various cytokines and chemokines, or by interaction with other immune cells. This review focuses on selected autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Sj?gren's syndrome, to illustrate the key roles of macrophages in the cellular or molecular pathogenesis of autoimmunity. In addition, the contribution of macrophages to each autoimmune disease is compared.
