An Assessment of h.alth.are Workers Knowledge about COVID-19

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a viral infection and considered th. th.rd coronavirus emerging among h.man beings over th. past two decades. h.alth.are Workers (h.Ws) are at h.gh.risk of acquiring th.s serious infection during providing care to patients. Th.refore, it’s crucial to assess th. knowledge of th. h.Ws about COVID-19. Meth.ds: A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted on h.Ws working at public h.spitals and Primary h.alth.are (Ph.) centers in th. Najran region, KSA to evaluate th. staff’s knowledge toward COVID-19. Th. questionnaire consisted of two parts, th. first part included th. demograph.c data, and th. second part involved questions related to th. COVID-19. Results: 451 h.Ws participated in th.s study and th. median of overall knowledge score was 67%. Most h.Ws properly identified symptoms (82.9%), mode of transmission (78.5%), th. incubation period (96.4%), th. way of preventing th. infection (91.5%), th. COVID-19 is not same as MERS-CoV (74.3%) and availability of a vaccine against th. COVID-19 (82%). h.wever, h.Ws were less likely to identify th. source of COVID-19 wh.n it was discovered in Ch.na (22.5%), th. mortality rate (44.6%), and th. presence of treatment (32.1%). Overall knowledge score was statistically significantly associated with.profession (P = 0.034), educational level (P = 0.033), and availability of th. infection control in th. workplace (P = 0.006). Conclusion: Th. findings of th.s study demonstrated an intermediate level of knowledge of h.Ws about COVID-19. Intervention programs are urgently needed to raise th. knowledge of h.Ws about th.s global public h.alth.issue.

Demograph.c trends and climate over 35 years in th. Barro Colorado 50 h. plot

Background： Th. first th.ee censuses of th. 50-h. plot at Barro Colorado Island spanned an unusually h.rsh.dry season during th. 1983 El Nitro. By th. early 1990s, we h.d documented increases in tree mortality, tree growth. and large population fluctuations of many species during th. 1982-1985 census interval. At th. time, we asserted th.t increasing drough. frequency would greatly affect th. forest. With.th. benefit of five more censuses at Barro Colorado from 1995-2015, we can now put th. 1980 conditions in a longer perspective and test th. h.poth.sis th.t increasing drough.iness h.s continued to ch.nge th. forest. Meth.ds： A 50-h. forest plot on Barro Colorado Island was censused eigh. times, in 1982 and every five years since 1985. all free-standing woody stems were measured, mapped, and identified in each.census. Results： 1） Th. period 1982-1992 included several extreme dry seasons, not just 1983, but since th.n th.re h.ve been few such.drough.s. 2） Dbh.growth.declined from a peak in th. early 1980s to its lowest in th. early 1990s. From 1995-2015 it increased sligh.ly, but not returning to th. initial peak. Nearly every species and all dbh.categories followed th. same pattern. 3） Th. elevated stand-wide mortality rate of large trees during th. 1982-1985 drough. h.s not returned, and most individual species sh.wed th. same pattern of elevated mortality in th. 1980s followed by low and fairly stable mortality after 1990. 4） Sapling mortality declined after 198,5, but rose again in th. late-90s, so th. 1980s drough. period no longer looks unusual. Mortality of individual species＇ saplings fluctuated erratically, including cases wh.re mortality during th. drough. was lower th.n after. 5） Population sizes of individual species fluctuated in all possible directions.
