Silver dendritic nanonstructures obtained by the potentiostatic electrolysis from different electrolytes at different overpotentials were characterized by the scanning electron microscopy(SEm)technique and X-ray diffraction analysis of the produced *** needle-like and fern-like dendrites were formed from the nitrate electrolyte at overpotentials inside and outside plateaus of the limiting diffusion current density,*** three-dimensional pine-like dendrites constructed from approximately spherical grains were formed from the ammonium electrolyte at overpotentials both inside and outside plateaus of the limiting diffusion current *** morphology of silver dendrites was correlated with their crystal structure at the semi quantiative *** change of crystal orientation from the strong(111)preferred orientation for the needle-like dendrites to almost randomly orientied spherical grains in the pine-like dendrites obtained at the overpotential outside the plateau of the limiting diffusion current density was *** trend in change of crystal orientation and morphology of Ag nanostructures was accompanied by considerable increase of the specific surface area(SSA)of the produced *** average crystallite sizes were in the range of 38-50 nm,proving nanostructural character of the formed Ag particles.

Nitric oxide and tumour necrosis factor alpha in the process of pseudoexfoliation glaucoma

AImTo establish the role of nitric oxide (NO), ascorbic acid and tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the pathogenesis of pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (XFG).mETHODSOur study included 120 patients who were referred for cataract surgery. All patients were divided into four groups according to clinical findings: XFG, early and late pseudoexfoliation syndrome (XFS), and cataract (without pseudoexfoliation). Serum and aqueous humour levels of the ascorbic acid, NO and TNF-α were measured. The concentrations of the ascorbic acid and NO were measured by an appropriate spectrophotometric method. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to determine TNF-α *** humour concentration of ascorbic acid was significantly lower in patients with late XFS (0.61±0.11 mmol/L) and XFG (0.48±0.15 mmol/L) compared to patients with early XFS (0.9±0.15 mmol/L) and cataract (1.16±0.22 mmol/L), while there was no difference in serum concentration in all examined groups. Aqueous humour concentration of NO was significantly higher in patients with XFG (77.7±11.4 µmol/L) compared to patients with early XFS (50.27±9.34 µmol/L) and cataract (49.77±7.1 µmol/L), while serum concentration was increased in the early stage of XFS (73.26±8.29 µmol/L). Aqueous humour level of proinflammatory cytokine TNF-α was increased in patients with XFS (early 460.04±18.32 pg/mL; late 502.42±53.23 pg/mL) and XFG (510.34±43.07 pg/mL), while there was no difference in serum level in all examined groups of *** ascorbic acid and elevated NO and inflammation related cytokine TNF-α level in aqueous humour of the patients with developed XFG suggest that oxidative stress induces local inflammation.

Reduction Theorems for Principal and Classical Connections

We prove general reduction theorems for gauge natural operators transforming principal connections and classical linear connections on the base manifold into sections of an arbitrary gauge natural bundle. Then we apply our results to the principal prolongation of connections. Finally we describe all such gauge natural operators for some special cases of a Lie group G.

Oxidation state specific analysis of arsenic species in tissues of wild-type and arsenic(+3 oxidation state)methyltransferase-knockout mice

Arsenic methyltransferase（As3mt） catalyzes the conversion of inorganic arsenic（i As） to its methylated metabolites, including toxic methylarsonite（mAs~Ⅲ） and dimethylarsinite（DmAs~Ⅲ）. Knockout（KO） of As3 mt was shown to reduce the capacity to methylate i As in mice. However, no data are available on the oxidation states of As species in tissues of these mice. Here, we compare the oxidation states of As species in tissues of male C57BL/6 As3mt-KO and wild-type（WT） mice exposed to arsenite（iA s~Ⅲ） in drinking water. WT mice were exposed to50 mg/L As and As3mt-KO mice that cannot tolerate 50 mg/L As were exposed to 0, 15, 20, 25 or30 mg/L As. iA s~Ⅲaccounted for 53% to 74% of total As in liver, pancreas, adipose, lung, heart, and kidney of As3mt-KO mice; tri- and pentavalent methylated arsenicals did not exceed 10% of total As. Tissues of WT mice retained iA s and methylated arsenicals： iA s~Ⅲ, mAs~Ⅲand DmAs~Ⅲ represented 55%‐68% of the total As in the liver, pancreas, and brain. High levels of methylated species, particularly mAs~Ⅲ, were found in the intestine of WT, but not As3mt-KO mice,suggesting that intestinal bacteria are not a major source of methylated As. Blood of WT mice contained significantly higher levels of As than blood of As3mt-KO mice. This study is the first to determine oxidation states of As species in tissues of As3mt-KO mice. Results will help to design studies using WT and As3mt-KO mice to examine the role of iA s methylation in adverse effects of iA s exposure.

A model for strong attenuation and dispersion of seismic P-waves in a partially saturated fractured reservoir

In this work we interpret the data showing unusually strong velocity dispersion of P-waves (up to 30%) and attenuation in a relatively narrow frequency range. The cross-hole and VSP data were measured in a reservoir, which is in the porous zone of the Silurian Kankakee Limestone Formation formed by vertical fractures within a porous matrix saturated by oil, and gas patches. Such a medium exhibits significant attenuation due to wave-induced fluid flow across the interfaces between different types of inclusions (fractures, fluid patches) and background. Other models of intrinsic attenuation (in particular squirt flow models) cannot explain the amount of observed dispersion when using realistic rock properties. In order to interpret data in a satisfactory way we develop a superposition model for fractured porous rocks accounting also for the patchy saturation effect.

The authors deal with nonlinear elliptic and parabolic systems that are the Bellman like systems associated to stochastic differential games with mean field dependent *** key novelty of the paper is that they allow heavily mean field dependent *** in particular leads to a system of PDE's with critical growth,for which it is rare to have an existence and/or regularity *** the paper,they introduce a structural assumptions that cover many cases in stochastic differential games with mean field dependent dynamics for which they are able to establish the existence of a weak *** addition,the authors present here a completely new method for obtaining the maximum/minimum principles for systems with critical growths,which is a starting point for further existence and also qualitative analysis.

Sustainable development of lignite production on open cast mines in Serbia

Energy sector represents a key industrial branch for national, environmental and economic success. With its exclusive access to domestic deposits, lignite industry represents a guarantor of reliable raw materials, offering long-term supply security based on verified reserves. Currently operated coalmines in Serbia (Kolubara and Kostolac) have production around 36 million tons of lignite, and over 108 million m3 of overburden. Consequently, sustainability of lignite production requires cost reduction and environmental protection, as well as capacity increase. In order to rationalise, and increase efficiency of Serbian lignite mines, it is necessary to focus the activities on major issues shown within the triangle of energy policy objectives (security of supply, competi- tive prices and environmental protection). Production process optimisation singled out several special programs. Equipment revi- talization and modernization is necessary taking into account that majority of the currently operated machinery has a life up to 25 years. Production process automation would enable high level of technical operation in the field of open cast mines management. Lack of coal quality uniformity is the permanent problem resulting by great amounts of coal reserves to be used uneconomically. Planning and training at all levels and finally cooperative software for business procedures and work order management. The measures suggested are a key precondition for maintaining competitive position of lignite production on international level.

Host preference of the major strains of Plum pox virus--Opinions based on regional and world-wide sequence data

Plum pox virus（PPV）causes sharka-the most serious viral disease of stone fruit *** is wide spread in Europe and mediterranean Basin,its incidence has been further approved in Asia and both *** PPV strains have been recognized until now（PPV-D,PPV-m,PPV-Rec,PPV-EA,PPV-C,PPV-T,PPV-W,PPV-CR,and PPV-An）,forming molecularly distinct entities,however,only partially differentiable by their biological or epidemiological *** most strict virus-host linkages under natural conditions have been detected for strains naturally infecting cherries（PPV-C and PPV-CR）.However,although less stringent but still clear host preference is observed also for three epidemiologically most important strains（PPV-D/plum/apricot,PPV-m/peach,and PPV-Rec/plum）.So far no genetic marker has been mapped in the PPV genome,which responsibility for the host specificity/preference could be explicitly *** this review,we focus on the host preference of three major PPV strains as evidenced by analysis of an extensive dataset of PPV isolates of Slovak and world-wide ***,we discuss several performed relevant experiments and further possible research procedures aimed to better understand the genetic determinants and mechanisms of the host preference of this potyvirus.

On Improving Accuracy of Finite-Element Solutions of the Effective-mass Schr¨odinger Equation for Interdiffused Quantum Wells and Quantum Wires

We use the Galerkin approach and the finite-element method to numerically solve the effective-mass Schr¨odinger *** accuracy of the solution is explored as it varies with the range of the numerical *** model potentials are those of interdiffused semiconductor quantum wells and axially symmetric quantum ***,the model of a linear harmonic oscillator is considered for comparison *** is demonstrated that the absolute error of the electron ground state energy level exhibits a minimum at a certain domain range,which is thus considered to be *** range is found to depend on the number of mesh nodes N approximately as α_0 log_e^(α1)(α_2N),where the values of the constants α_0,α_1,and α_2are determined by fitting the numerical *** the optimal range is found to be a weak function of the diffusion ***,it was demonstrated that a domain range adaptation to the optimal value leads to substantial improvement of accuracy of the solution of the Schr¨odinger equation.

Hybrid Power Supply System with Fuzzy Logic Controller: Power Control Algorithm, main Properties, and Applications

This paper presents a novel power supply system based on the use of fuzzy inference logic to improve the power control of renewable energy *** system comprises renewable solar and wind sources,and an accumulator battery is used as an additional power *** procedure for the parallel connection of multiple energy sources provides a stable power supply and optimal charging of the accumulative *** energy sources are connected in parallel using two serial converters and controlled by the controller based on the fuzzy *** reference voltage control of the serial converter enables an optimal use of available energy *** accumulative element is connected in parallel to compensate for the shortage of solar and wind energies,whereas if the available renewable energy exceeds the needs of the consumers,the surplus energy is accumulated in the *** measurements are conducted on the prototype of the hybrid power system under real conditions and compared with the applied systems of this *** novel system is mainly used in remote telecom locations where there is no power distribution network.
