In the past few year. ther. has been a gr.wth in the use of nanopar.icles for.stabilizing lipid membr.nes that contain embedded pr.teins. These bionanopar.icles pr.vide a solution to the challenging pr.blem of membr.ne pr.tein isolation by maintaining a lipid bilayer.essential to pr.tein integr.ty and activity. We have pr.viously descr.bed the use of an amphipathic polymer.（poly（styr.ne-co-maleic add）, SMA） to pr.duce discoidal nanopar.icles with a lipid bilayer.cor. containing the embedded pr.tein. However.the str.ctur. of the nanopar.icle itself has not yet been deter.ined. This leaves a major.gap in under.tanding how the SMA stabilizes the encapsulated bilayer.and how the bilayer.r.lates physically and str.ctur.lly to an unencapsulated lipid bilayer. In this paper.we addr.ss this issue by descr.bing the str.ctur. of the SMA lipid par.icle （SMALP） using data fr.m small angle neutr.n scatter.ng （SANS）, electr.n micr.scopy （EM）, attenuated total r.flection Four.er.tr.nsfor. infr.r.d spectr.scopy （ATr.FTIr., differ.ntial scanning calor.metr. （DSC） and nuclear.magnetic r.sonance spectr.scopy （NMr.. We show that the par.icle is disc shaped containing a polymer.＂br.celet＂ encir.ling the lipid bilayer. The str.ctur. and or.entation of the individual components within the bilayer.and polymer.ar. deter.ined showing that styr.ne moieties within SMA inter.alate between the lipid acyl chains. The dimensions of the encapsulated bilayer.ar. also deter.ined and match those measur.d for.a natur.l membr.ne. Taken together. the descr.ption of the str.ctur. of the SMALP for.s the foundation for.futur. development and applications of SMALPs in membr.ne pr.tein pr.duction and analysis.

Her.in we study the economic per.or.ance of hydr.char.and synthetic natur.l gas copr.duction fr.m olive tr.e *** pr.cess entails a combination of hydr.ther.al car.onization and *** a pr.vious wor.,we evidenced that standalone hydr.char.pr.duction via HTC r.sults ***,we pr.pose a step for.ar. on the pr.cess design by implementing a methanation,adding value to the gas effluent in an attempt to boost the over.ll pr.cess techno-economic *** differ.nt plant capacities wer. analyzed(312.5,625 and 1250 kg/hr..The baseline scenar.os showed that,under.the cur.ent cir.umstances,our.cir.ular.economy str.tegy in *** analysis of the r.venues shows that hydr.char.selling pr.ce have a high impact on NPV and subsidies for.r.newable coal pr.duction could help to boost the pr.fitability of the *** the contr.r.,the analysis for.natur.l gas pr.ces r.veals that pr.ces 8 times higher.than the cur.ent ones in Spain must be achieved to r.ach *** seems unlikely even under.the pr.sence of a str.ng subsidy *** costs analysis suggests that a r.mar.able electr.city cost r.duction or.electr.city consumption of the HTC stage could be a potential str.tegy to r.ach pr.fitability ***,significant r.duction of gr.en hydr.gen pr.duction costs is deemed instr.mental to impr.ve the economic per.or.ance of the *** r.sults show the for.idable techno-economic challenge that our.society faces in the path towar.s cir.ular.economy societies.

Total pancr.atectomy(TP) is a sur.ical pr.cedur. which includes the complete r.moval of the pancr.atic gland, the spleen, the duodenum, the gallbladder. and the distal par. of the stomach. TP r.pr.sents the cur.tive tr.atment of pancr.atic cancer.which simultaneously involves the head and the body/tail of the pancr.as. Other.possible indications for.TP compr.se multifocal par.nchymal diseases, such as intr.ductal papillar. mucinous neoplasms, pancr.atic neur.endocr.ne tumor., multiple endocr.ne neoplasms, and chr.nic pancr.atitis. Sometimes, TP is car.ied out in patients scheduled for.pancr.aticoduodenectomy(wher. only the head of the pancr.as is r.moved) when a cancer.located in the pancr.atic head is intr.oper.tively found to also extend to the pancr.atic body [1].

This wor. is the second par. of a simulation study investigating the pr.cessing of densely packed and moving gr.nular.assemblies by positr.n emission par.icle tr.cking (PEPT).Since medical positr.n emission tomogr.phy (PET) scanner. commonly used for.PEPT ar. ver. expensive,a PET-like detector.system based on cost-effective or.anic plastic scintillator.bar. is being developed and tested for.its *** this context,the spatial r.solution of a r.sting positr.n sour.e,a sour.e moving on a fr.ely designed model path,and a par.icle motion given by a discr.te element method (DEM) simulation is studied using Monte Car.o simulations and the softwar. toolkit *** not only extended the simulation and r.constr.ction to a moving sour.e but also significantly impr.ved the spatial r.solution compar.d to pr.vious wor. by adding over.ampling and iter.tion to the r.constr.ction ***,in the case of a sour.e following a tr.jector. developed fr.m DEM simulations,a ver. good r.solution of about 1 mm in all thr.e dir.ctions and an aver.ge 3D deviation between simulated and r.constr.cted events of 2.3 mm could be ***,the r.solution for.r.alistic par.icle motion within the gener.c gr.te system (which is the test r.g for.fur.her.exper.mental studies) is well below the smallest par.icle *** simulation of the dependence of the r.constr.ction accur.cy on tr.cer.par.icle location r.vealed a near.y constant efficiency within the entir. detector.system,which demonstr.tes that boundar. effects can be neglected.

Effectiveness of Chr.mated Copper.Ar.enate against Deter.or.ting Agents of Eucalyptus Poles and Posts in Four.Eco-r.gions in Kenya

Pr.vious studies done elsewher. have shown that Eucalyptus poles tr.ated with chr.mated copper.ar.enate (CCA) can last over.30 year.. Kenya is exceptional because in some eco-r.gions, the Eucalyptus poles’ life span has gr.atly r.duced to 5 year.. The cur.ent study was designed to evaluate wood deter.or.ting agents of CCA-tr.ated Eucalyptus poles and var.ability in four.eco-r.gions of Kenya, namely, dr.land, coastal, highland and humid lake. A total of 360 Eucalyptus pole samples wer. used for.this exper.ment. Thr.e CCA tr.atments wer. used to tr.at tr.nsmission poles at 20 kg/cm3 fencing posts samples at 6 kg/cm3, and a contr.l gr.up. r.sults indicated that ter.ites and wood-decay fungi attacks caused wood deter.or.tion in the four.eco-r.gions. The pr.por.ion of power.tr.nsmission pole degr.dation by wood deter.or.ting agents var.ed acr.ss eco-r.gions, between tr.atments and contr.l and between time after.tr.atments. Dr.land eco-r.gions had the highest ter.ite-r.lated degr.dation (41.82%) while wood-decay fungi attack was highest in the highland eco-r.gions (9.20%). Samples tr.ated with 6 kg/cm3 r.cor.ed the lowest level of wood deter.or.tion, manifested by minimal super.icial ter.ite and wood-decay fungi attack. Samples tr.ated with 20 kg/cm3 wer. char.cter.zed by moder.te ter.ite and wood-decay fungi attacks obser.ed ar.und the hear.wood r.gion, unlike sapwood. This study concluded that the deter.or.tion of Eucalyptus CCA-tr.ated poles is a question of climatic var.ability and hence, to incr.ase the poles’ lifespan, CCA tr.atment should be tailor.d accor.ing to the char.cter.stics of the ecor.gion of use. Fur.her.investigations will infor. the diver.ity of ter.ites and decay-fungi acr.ss differ.nt eco-r.gions.
