Nicotine, the major addictive substance in tobacco, interacts with nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) located in neuronal and glial cells, modulating synaptic transmission and memory. Here, we show that nAChRs agonists, including nicotine, acetylcholine, and choline, increase the intracellular Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i) in cultured hippocampal astrocytes, indicating the involvement of nAChRs. Interestingly, inhibition of nAChRs, with a cocktail of antagonists (mecamylamine, methyllycaconitine plus dihydro-β- erythroidine), does not prevent the astrocytic [Ca2+]i increases generated by nicotine. This last effect would be attributable to inhibition of K+ currents by nicotine in these cells, as previously we showed using patch- clamp recordings. Furthermore, the application of tetraethylammonium, an inhibitor of K+ currents, also increases the [Ca2+]i. Together, these results indicate that nicotine increases [Ca2+]i in hippocampal astrocytes through two pathways: by activation of nAChRs, and likely by direct inhibition of K+ currents.

目的ZentangleR艺术治疗方法被应用于心理健康相关领域,尚未在边缘型人格障碍患者得到验证。本研究分析边缘型人格障碍患者接受ZentangleR艺术治疗方法的练习体验。方法采用现象学解释方法,对患者进行半结构化访谈。患者均已在西班牙某医院的人格障碍治疗室接受了每个月1次,共6次ZentangleR艺术治疗。本研究中共访谈了15例患者。Smith、Flowers和Larkin方法用于资料分析中的评估。结果根据研究结果,共提炼出3个类别的主题:有耕耘即有收获(参与者报告了注意力、放松、人际关系、与环境互动方面的改善,以及接受和改变的积极体验);众擎易举(患者认可在团体中感觉更好,并建立了相互联系;他们也描述了团体环境对个人行为的影响);画出自己的轨迹(通过绘画方式提供了自我表达和自我认识的媒介,通过情感表达提升了幸福感,提高了创造力,增强了自信心)。结论通过练习ZentangleR,患者可以作出灵活性和适应性等行为反应,通过焦虑管理、冲动控制改善情绪健康,学习应对问题,提高自尊或注意力。心理健康护理在边缘型人格的综合治疗及协同多样化补充性干预措施中发挥着积极作用。

Red, White and Blue Light Emission from Europium Doped Al2O3 Confined into a Silica Matrix

The main drawbacks of fluorescent activated lanthanide luminescent materials in practical optoelectronic applications are the high cost of raw material and the limitation of a specific color depending on the lanthanide ion. In this work, the synthesis of red, white and blue light emitting composite powders of Al2O3:Eu3+@SiO2 were successfully synthesized by the hydrolysis and condensation reactions of TEOS as the raw precursor of silica matrix on the Al2O3:Eu3+ surface. With the aim to change the CIE coordinates different weight ratios of Al2O3:Eu3+/SiO2 powders from 13Al/87Si to 5Al/95Si were prepared. Besides, various excitation wavelength from 280 to 340 nm was used in order to change the ratio intensity;Ired/Iblue, between the red emission coming from the 5D0→7F2 transition of Eu3+ ions and the blue band of silica matrix. Chemical evolution of the hydrolysis and condensation reaction of TEOS were conducted by FTIR spectroscopy. The results indicate that from 500°C a complete TEOS to SiO2 transformation is carried out.

Technical and Economic Feasibility of Using Hydrogen as Energy Storage System in Wind Farms

In this paper some of the results obtained in the research project "A Technical and Economic feasibility study of hydrogen production from solar and wind energy in the Istmo de Tehuantepec" are presented. The purpose of this study is to assess the viability of electrolytic hydrogen production in wind farms in the Istmo de Tehuantepec. Different configurations of hydrogen storage systems were simulated in local weather conditions and using local power grids. WAsP 9.1 (under license obtained by the Universidad del Istmo) and HOMER were used in this study. Using WAsP it was estimated that the annual energy produced by five BONUS 1MW/54 turbines is 18.70 GWh/year with an average capacity factor of 42.7%; efficient operation is projected for a wind farm with greater capacity. The HOMER simulation of a 500 MW wind farm in a 225 MW power grid, showed that 42% of the energy generated by the turbines is not integrated into the power grid and consequently it is used for electrolytic hydrogen production, with an annual production of 15,522 Ton at a cost of 11.60 USD/kg, for capital multipliers of 1 and 1.6 for the electrolyzer and the wind turbine respectively. It was established that by lowering the capital costs of both the electrolyzer and the wind turbine, it is possible to produce hydrogen at a cost of between 5.70 and 6.40 USD/kg, which is comparable to the current costs of conventional methods of hydrogen production. Favorable results were also obtained when a fuel cell was added to the system to introduce energy into the power grid at peak times, even when the selling price to the grid is less than 0.30 USD/kWh. In conclusion, given the current trend of rising fossil fuel prices as well as the existing and prospective technological advances in the production and storage of hydrogen, the electrolytic production of this fuel is feasible under the conditions found in the Istmo de Tehuantepec.
