Large soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS) in the Permian Barren Measures Formation, Pranhita-Godavari Valley, India:potential link to syn-rift palaeoearthquake events

Records of palaeoearthquakes in sedimentary rocks are often debated due to the potential confusion in distinguishing seismic versus aseismic trigger mechanisms causing *** present paper documents some unique soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS),characterized by their extremely large size,complex morphology and preservation in coarse-grained pebbly *** SSDS are present in the Permian Barren Measures Formation,a syn-rift depositional unit within the Lower Gondwana succession in the Pranhita-Godavari Valley,eastern Peninsular ***^210 m thick succession is represented by stacked fining-up retrogradational cycles,characterized by coarse-grained trough cross-stratified pebbly sandstones near the base and fine-grained heterolithic sandstones–mudstones at the *** cycle signifies a change from fluvial-to tidal-influenced depositional ***-grained pebbly sandstone beds near the base of each cycle record most SSDS,including complexly deformed layers,pseudonodules,load and flame structures,various water-escape structures like vertical/inclined sediment columns(sedimentary dykes)and contorted beds,and syn-sedimentary *** deformed beds are underlain and overlain by the undeformed *** deformed SSDS are often sharply truncated at the top by undeformed beds manifesting syn-sedimentary character,which signifies that deformation took place just after deposition of the affected beds,but before deposition of the overlying beds while sedimentation was *** analysis reveals the absence of processes like storms/pounding waves,slumps,rapid dumping(massive beds),impact shaking,volcanisms,tsunami waves or sediment gravity flows in the study area,thus negating their possibility as triggering agents for the *** complex nature and large size of the deformation structures imply extensive liquefaction near the sediment–water *** addition,the deformed beds comply with most of the criteria of typic

Irritable bowel syndrome: Pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and evidence-based medicine

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic and debilitating functional gastrointestinal disorder that affects 9%-23% of the population across the world. The percentage of patients seeking health care related to IBS approaches 12% in primary care practices and is by far the largest subgroup seen in gastroenterology clinics. It has been well documented that these patients exhibit a poorer quality of life and utilize the health care system to a greater degree than patients without this diagnosis. The pathophysiology of IBS is not clear. Many theories have been put forward, but the exact cause of IBS is still uncertain. According to the updated ROME III criteria, IBS is a clinical diagnosis and presents as one of the three predominant subtypes: (1) IBS with constipation (IBS-C); (2) IBS with diarrhea (IBS-D); and (3) mixed IBS (IBS-M); former ROME definitions refer to IBS-M as alternating IBS (IBS-A). Across the IBS subtypes, the presentation of symptoms may vary among patients and change over time. Patients report the most distressing symptoms to be abdominal pain, straining, myalgias, urgency, bloating and feelings of serious illness. The complexity and diversity of IBS presentation makes treatment difficult. Although there are reviews and guidelines for treating IBS, they focus on the efficacy of medications for IBS symptoms using high-priority endpoints, leaving those of lower priority largely unreported. Therefore, the aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive evidence-based review of the diagnosis, pathogenesis and treatment to guide clinicians diagnosing and treating their patients.

Hydrogen Adsorption on Metal-Organic Framework MOF-177

This review summarizes the recent literature on the synthesis, characterization, and adsorption properties of meal-organic framework MOF-177. MOF-177 is a porous crystalline material that consists of Zn40 tetrahedrons connected with benzene tribenzoate （BTB） ligands, It is an ideal adsorbent with an ex- ceptionally high specific surface area （BET〉4500 m^2/g）, a uniform micropore size dJstrJbutJon with a median pore diameter of 12.7 A, a large pore volume （2.65 cm^3/g）, and very promising adsorption properties for hy- drogen storage and other gas separation and purification applications. A hydrogen adsorption amount of 19.6 wt.% on MOF-177 at 77 K and 100 bar was observed, and a CO2 uptake of 35 mmol/g on MOF-177 was measured at 45 bar and an ambient temperature. Other hydrogen properties （kinetics and heat of ad- sorption） along with adsorption of other gases including CO2, CO, CH4, and N2Oon MOF-177 were also be discussed. It was observed in experiments that MOF-177 adsorbent tends to degrade or decompose when it is exposed to moisture. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the structure of MOF-177 remains intact at temperatures below 330℃ under a flow of oxygen, but decomposes to zinc oxide at 420℃.

A Hybrid Moth Flame Optimization Algorithm for Global Optimization

The Moth Flame Optimization(MFO)algorithm shows decent performance results compared to other meta-heuristic algorithms for tackling non-linear constrained global optimization ***,it still suffers from obtaining quality solution and slow convergence *** the other hand,the Butterfly Optimization Algorithm(BOA)is a comparatively new algorithm which is gaining its popularity due to its simplicity,but it also suffers from poor exploitation *** this study,a novel hybrid algorithm,h-MFOBOA,is introduced,which integrates BOA with the MFO algorithm to overcome the shortcomings of both the algorithms and at the same time inherit their *** performance evaluation,the proposed h-MFOBOA algorithm is applied on 23 classical benchmark functions with varied *** tested results of the proposed algorithm are compared with some well-known traditional meta-heuristic algorithms as well as MFO *** rank test and Wilcoxon signed rank test are employed to measure the performance of the newly introduced algorithm *** computational complexity has been ***,the proposed algorithm has been applied to solve one constrained and one unconstrained real-life problems to examine its problem-solving capability of both type of *** comparison results of benchmark functions,statistical analysis,real-world problems confirm that the proposed h-MFOBOA algorithm provides superior results compared to the other conventional optimization algorithms.

A possible origin of viscosity in Keplerian accretion disks due to secondary perturbation:Turbulent transport without magnetic fields

The origin of hydrodynamic turbulence in rotating shear flow is a long standing *** it is especially important in astrophysics when the flow＇s angular momentum profile is Keplerian which forms an accretion disk having negligible molecular ***,any viscosity in such systems must be due to turbulence,arguably governed by magnetorotational instability,especially when temperature T ≥10 ***,such disks around quiescent cataclysmic variables,protoplanetary and star-forming disks,and the outer regions of disks in active galactic nuclei are practically neutral in charge because of their low temperature,and thus are not expected to be coupled with magnetic fields enough to generate any transport due to the magnetorotational *** flow is similar to plane Couette flow including the Coriolis force,at least *** drives their turbulence and then transport,when such flows do not exhibit any unstable mode under linear hydrodynamic perturbation？ We demonstrate that the three-dimensional secondary disturbance to the primarily perturbed flow that triggers elliptical instability may generate significant turbulent viscosity in the range 0.0001 ≤νt≤ 0.1,which can explain transport in accretion flows.

Correspondence between Yang–Mills Condensate Dark Energy with Various Kinds of Scalar Field Models of Dark Energy

In this work, we study a new kind of dark energy （DE）, which is named as ＂Yang-Mills condensate＂（YMC）. We study the stability and wde - w＇de analysis of YMC DE model. Then we correspond it with quintessence, k- essence, tachyon, phantom, dilaton, DBI-essence and hessenee scalar field models of DE in FRW spacetime to reconstruct potentials as well as the dynamics for these scalar fields for describing the acceleration of the universe. We also analyze the models in graphically to interpret the nature of the scalar fields and corresponding potentials.

Influence of light and habitat on predation of Culex quinquefasciatus （Diptera： Culicidae）larvae by the waterbugs （Hemiptera： Heteroptera）

The influence of light and habitat structure on the predation of Culex quinquefasciatus larvae by the common heteropteran water bug, Diplonychus （= Sphaerodema） annulatus, D. rusticus and Anisops bouvieri was assessed in the laboratory. It was revealed that water bugs predate more in presence of light than in dark conditions. While A. bouvieri consumed more prey in structured conditions, D. annulatus and D. rusticus consumed more prey in open conditions. The selection of prey size as well as the respective numbers varied between predators and treatments significantly. Prey vulnerability （PV）, an indicator of predatory efficiency, was highest for D. annulatus, moderate for D. rusticus and low for A. bouvieri. Prey consumption and PV values under different treatment conditions indicate that for belostomatid water bugs D. annulatus and D. rusticus, the order of prey consumption under different habitat and light/dark combinations is light open 〉 dark open 〉 light vegetated 〉 dark vegetated. In the case of the backswimmer, A. bouvieri, the order of prey consumption appeared to be light structured 〉 dark structured 〉 light open 〉 dark open. These findings were consistent with resource-partitioning by water bug species sharing the same guild. If the observed results are extended to natural settings the efficiency of these predators in controlling mosquito populations will vary with the structural complexity of habitats and the intensity of light.

A Novel Approach with Time-Splitting Spectral Technique for the Coupled Schrdinger–Boussinesq Equations Involving Riesz Fractional Derivative

In the present paper the Riesz fractional coupled Schr6dinger-Boussinesq （S-B） equations have been solved by the time-splitting Fourier spectral （TSFS） method. This proposed technique is utilized for discretizing the Schrodinger like equation and further, a pseudospectral discretization has been employed for the Boussinesq-like equation. Apart from that an implicit finite difference approach has also been proposed to compare the results with the solutions obtained from the time-splitting technique. Furthermore, the time-splitting method is proved to be unconditionally stable. The error norms along with the graphical solutions have also been presented here.

A Nash Game Approach to Mixed H_2/H_∞ Model Predictive Control: Part 3–Output Feedback Case

In this paper, the state-feedback Nash game based mixed H2/H∞ design^（[1, 2]）has been extended for output feedback case. The algorithm is applied to control bioreactor system with a Laguerre-Wavelet Network（LWN）^（[3, 4]）model of the *** is achieved by using the LWN model as a deviation model and by successively linearising the deviation model along the state trajectory. For reducing the approximation error and to improve the controller performance, symbolic derivation algorithm, viz.,automatic differentiation is employed. A cautionary note is also given on the fragility of the output feedback mixed H2/H∞ model predictive controller^（[4, 5]）due to its sensitivity to its own parametric changes.
