Using electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry combined with liquid chromatography(LC),a novel analytical method was developed to quantify eight monomeric organophosphorus flame retardants(m-PFRs)and three oligomeric organophosphorus flame retardants(o-PFRs)in fish muscle *** optimization and validation experiments indicate that the developed method can determine accurately the concentrations of analytes in fish muscle *** recoveries of analytes in fish muscle samples were in the range of 74-105%.The coefficients of variation of the concentrations of analytes in fish muscle samples were 0.6-8.9%.The concentrations of analytes in procedural blanks were below the limit of quantification(LOQ)***,the developed method was applied to the analysis of m-PFRs and o-PFRs in the muscle samples of tilapias collected from an electronic waste(ewaste)processing area in northern *** concentrations of m-PFRs such as tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate(TCEP),tris(2-chloroisopropyl)phosphate(TCIPP),and triphenyl phosphate(TPHP)were dominant among the investigated *** respective concentrations of TCEP,TCIPP,and TPHP were up to 160,300,and 230 ng g^-1 lipid weight,respectively,whereas those of o-PFRs were up to 10 ng g^-1 lipid *** results of this study indicate lower accumulation potential of o-PFRs compared with m-PFRs for the first time.

The results presented in this paper are a part of the research results of the thesis ＂research on scientific basis and practice of develop a system of monitoring the impacts of climate change on surface water and groundwater＂. Case study： Ma river basin in Vietnam. The results were implemented：（i） data collection, fieldwork survey, synthesis and analysis of information and data; （ii） partitioning the influence degree of climate change and sea level rise to groundwater; （iii） determining criteria to select monitoring routes, location of monitoring groundwater in the condition of climate change and sea level rise and （iv） developing the monitoring system. The research＇s results have practical implications for the water resources management in the context of climate change and sea level rise in Ma river basin.

Lipid rafts are sterol and sphingolipid rich membrane domains that possibly may play roles in multiple cellular processes. These domains are still the matter of debate and it is still unknown by which mechanism if any and organisms promote their formation. This study centers on the ease of in vitro formation of lipid rafts-like structures as it relates to the relative availability of sphingolipids, phospholipids, cholesterol, and membrane proteins. Following a 12 h incubation period, isolation and extraction of the lipid rafts-like assemblies, the composition of the structures was evaluated using HPLC. Cholesterol and sphingomyelin were detected at 206 nm and phosphatidylcholine was detected at 254 nm. Identification of lactose permease, a typical membrane protein, was done using FTIR. The thermal stability of the produced structures was also determined. Results show that the addition of cholesterol significantly increased both the amount of insoluble lipid rafts-like structures and their stability, and that the availability of a minimum amount of sphingolipid was necessary to produce larger amounts of more stable structures. However, the addition of phospholipids hindered the formation of lipid rafts-like assemblies and those formed were generally less stable.

Efficacy of 308-nm Monochromatic Excimer Lamp and Topical Tacrolimus Combination Therapy in Localized Vitiligo:A Study in Vietnam

Objective:Combination therapy of a 308-nm monochromatic excimer lamp and topical tacrolimus is widely used in the treatment of localized vitiligo;however,there are no published studies investigating this combination therapy in Vietnamese patients with *** study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of combined excimer lamp and topical tacrolimus therapy for patients with localized vitiligo in ***:We performed a pre-post clinical trial of 30 patients diagnosed with localized vitiligo in *** patients were treated with an excimer lamp twice weekly and with topical tacrolimus twice *** was evaluated based on the reduction rate of the vitiligo area scoring index (VASI).Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics,Fisher’s exact test,Kruskal-WallisH test,and Spearman correlation coefficient ***:After 12 weeks of treatment,response was excellent or good in 16 patients (53.3%),moderate in 8 patients (26.7%),and poor in 6 patients (20.0%).The excellent or good responses increased over time from 3 patients (10.0%) at 6 weeks to 16 patients (53.3%) at 12 weeks (P = 0.001).Earlier initiation of repigmentation was associated with a better response to treatment (r = -0.71;P = 0.020).Patients with a perifollicular repigmentation pattern responded better to treatment than those with combined or marginal repigmentation patterns (P = 0.003).Side effects occurred in 13 patients (43.3%),including burning (43.3%),pruritus (10.0%),and mild blistering (6.7%),and none of these interrupted the ***:Combination therapy with excimer lamp and topical tacrolimus appears to be effective and safe in treating patients with localized vitiligo in Vietnam.

Inappropriate e-waste-processing operation is a serious issue in developing countries since the early 2000'*** research was conducted to clarify its influences and diffuse toxic substances in the environment at e-waste-processing sites in a village in northern Vietnam from 2012 to *** investigated surface soil samples collected from e-waste-processing sites,open burning sites,and rice paddy *** samples and water samples were also collected from a river that runs through the *** hazardous metal concentration in soil and river sediment samples indicated that 7 elements(Ca,Cu,Mo,Ni,Pb,Sn,and Zn)had high concentrations as a result of *** notably,Pb and Cu had high concentrations in soil samples(Pb:26e2200 mg/kg,Cu:22e3000 mg/kg).The results of a multivariate analysis indicated that these 7 elements were closely correlated with *** of hazardous metals showed an upward trend where e-waste-processing occurred during the 3-year study period,although it was not significant statistically at *** burning activity had a great influence on Cu accumulation,and maximum Cu concentrations increased from 340 mg/kg in 2012e3000 mg/kg in 2014 in soil samples from open-burning *** were large differences in the dominant hazardous metal depending on the type of e-waste-processing workshop because hazardous metal composition was influenced by the types of e-waste and the processing *** is necessary to avoid e-waste processing in open-air environment to control emissions of hazardous ***,open burning should be prohibited.

This paper presents the quantitative assessment results of rainwater supply to groundwater in Cai Phan Rang River basin, Ninh Thuan province, Vietnam. In order to obtain the results, the authors developed two experimental areas with 10 wells which were monitored in one year to assess the infiltration supply of rainwater to groundwater. The results of this research assessed the amount of rainwater infiltrates into groundwater varies from 307.16-314.98 tam·year^-1, average is 311 mm·year^-1. The findings are significant in terms of science which identify sources of groundwater storage from the infiltration supply of rainwater. The findings are also practical in suggesting measures to reserve groundwater for the purpose of socio-economic development in the study area.

Color centers in diamond—especially group Ⅳ defects—have been advanced as a viable solidstate platform for quantum photonics and information technologies. We investigate the photodynamics and characteristics of germanium-vacancy(GeV) centers hosted in high-pressure high-temperature diamond nanocrystals. Through back-focal plane imaging, we analyze the far-field radiation pattern of the investigated emitters and derive a crossed-dipole emission, which is strongly aligned along one axis. We use this information in combination with lifetime measurements to extract the decay rate statistics of the GeV emitters and determine their quantum efficiency, which we estimated to be ～(22 ± 2)%. Our results offer further insight into the photodynamic properties of the GeV center in nanodiamonds and confirm its suitability as a desirable system for quantum technologies.

The management of electronic waste(e-waste),which can be a source of both useful materials and toxic substances,depending on the processing method,is important for promoting material *** this study,we used the dioxin-responsive chemical-activated luciferase gene expression(DR-CALUX)assay combined with gas chromatographyehigh-resolution mass spectrometry to evaluate the levels of dioxin-like compounds in surface soils and river sediments collected in and around an e-waste-processing village in northern *** WHO-TEQs(Toxic equivalents)of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs),coplanar polychlorinated biphenyls(Co-PCBs),and polybrominated dibenzo-pdioxins and dibenzofurans(PBDD/Fs)in soils collected in January 2012 ranged from 0.29 to 310 pg/g(median 2.9 pg/g,n=32),and the WHO-TEQs in sediments ranged from 0.96 to 58 pg/g(median 4.4 pg/g,n=8).Dioxin-like activities(CALUX-TEQs[2,3,7,8-TCDD equivalent])in soils collected in January 2012,2013,and 2014 ranged from<30 to 4300 pg/g(median<30 pg/g,n=96),and the activities in sediments ranged from<30 to 4000 pg/g(median 33 pg/g,n=24).Dioxin-like compounds accumulated in samples collected around e-waste-processing areas such as open-burning sites and e-waste-processing workshops,and the compounds may be transported from their sources to surrounding areas over the course of several *** of the CALUX-TEQs,but not WHO-TEQs,values were higher than the maximum acceptable WHO-TEQs promulgated by various authorities,indicating that all dioxin-like compounds should be evaluated in samples collected from e-waste-processing *** findings suggest that open burning and open storage of e-waste should be prohibited and that wastewater treatment should be implemented at each workshop to reduce contamination by dioxin-like compounds from e-waste.
