Venous ulcers are a common chronic problem in many countries especially in Northern Europe and USA. The overall prevalence of this condition is 1% rising to 3% in the over 65 years of age. Over the last 25 years, there have been many developments applicable to its diagnosis and treatment. These advances, notwithstanding healing response and recurrence, are variable, and the venous ulcer continues to be a clinical challenge. The pathogenesis of venous ulcers is unrelieved or ambulatory venous hypertension resulting mostly from deep venous thrombosis leading to venous incompetence, lipodermatosclerosis, leucocyte plugging of the capillaries, tissue hypoxia and microvascular dysfunction. It is not known what initiates venous ulcers. Triggers vary from trauma of the lower extremity to scratching to relieve itchy skin over the ankle region. Venous ulcers can be painful, and this condition presents an increasing burden of care. A systematic analysis of the role of technology used for diagnosis and management strongly supports the use of compression as a mainstay of standardised care. It further shows good evidence for the potential of some treatment procedures to accelerate healing. This article reviews the pathogenetic mechanisms, current diagnostic methods and standard care and its limitations.

Imparting Pulley Effect and Self-healability to Cathode Binder of Li-S Battery for Improvement of the Cycling Stability

To construct structurally stable sulfur cathode of Li-S battery with improved cycling performance,poly(acrylic acid)(PAA)crosslinked by cationic hydroxypropyl polyrotaxane(HPRN+)via dynamically reversible boronic ester bonds is synthesized and serves as the cathode *** smart polymer networks offer multifunction including buffering the volume change of the cathode during charge/discharge through the pulley effect of polyrotaxanes(PR),suppressing the shuttle effect by adsorption of polysulfide using the plentiful carboxyl,hydroxyl and quaternary ammonium cationic groups,and self-healing the micro-damages to ensure stable conduction pathways of the *** a result,the Li-S batteries based on this novel multifunctional binder and simple commercial sulfur/carbon composites cathode exhibit excellent specific capacity and cycling *** particular,the specific capacity decay per cycle of the cell is only 0.064%along with high Coulombic efficiency after 550 cycles at 1.0 C,which is superior to most of the reported *** under high sulfur loading,moreover,the cathode can deliver superior areal capacity and cycling *** proposed binder provides a new way for the design of high-stability sulfur cathodes.

LSTM-based Energy Management for Electric Vehicle Charging in Commercial-building Prosumers

As typical prosumers,commercial buildings equipped with electric vehicle(EV)charging piles and solar photovoltaic panels require an effective energy management ***,the conventional optimization-model-based building energy management system faces significant challenges regarding prediction and calculation in online *** address this issue,a long short-term memory(LSTM)recurrent neural network(RNN)based machine learning algorithm is proposed in this paper to schedule the charging and discharging of numerous EVs in commercial-building *** the proposed system control structure,the LSTM algorithm can be separated into offline and online *** the offline stage,the LSTM is used to map states(inputs)to decisions(outputs)based on the network *** the online stage,once the current state is input,the LSTM can quickly generate a solution without any additional prediction.A preliminary data processing rule and an additional output filtering procedure are designed to improve the decision performance of LSTM *** simulation results demonstrate that the LSTM algorithm can generate near-optimal solutions in milliseconds and significantly reduce the prediction and calculation pressures compared with the conventional optimization algorithm.

Suspension calcination and alkali leaching of low-grade high-sulfur bauxite:Desulfurization, mineralogical evolution and desilication

To enable the utilization of low-grade and high-sulfur bauxite, the suspension calcination was used to remove the sulfur and the activate silica minerals, and the calcinated bauxite was subjected to a desilication process in Na OH solution under atmospheric pressure. The desulfurization and desilication properties and mineralogical evolution were studied by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry–differential thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and FactSage methods. The results demonstrate that the suspension calcination method is efficient for sulfur removal: 84.21% of S was removed after calcination at 1000°C for 2 min. During the calcination process, diaspore and pyrite were transferred to α-Al2O3, magnetite, and hematite. The phase transformation of pyrite follows the order FeS2 → Fe3O4 → Fe2O3, and the iron oxides and silica were converted into iron silicate. In the alkali-soluble desilication process, the optimum condition was an alkali solution concentration of 110 g/L, a reaction time of 20 min, and a reaction temperature of 95°C. The corresponding desilication ratio and alumina loss ratio were 44.9% and 2.4%, respectively, and the alumina-to-silica mass ratio of the concentrate was 7.9. The Al2O3·2SiO2, SiO2, and Al2O3 formed during the calcination process could react with Na OH solution, and their activity decreased in the order of Al2O3·2 SiO2, SiO2, and Al2O3.

BACKGROUND Mesonephric adenocarcinoma(MNAC)is an extremely rare malignancy in the female genital *** a few cases have been reported in the literature,and most of them occurred in the cervix,with extremely rare cases in the uterine body and *** has never been reported to arise in the fallopian *** SUMMARY A 45-year-old woman was referred to our institution with a history of abdominal *** revealed a cystic and solid mass in left adnexal *** patient underwent complete staging surgery when intraoperative pathological examination demonstrated that the mass was *** final histological and immunohistochemical results confirmed the diagnosis of MNAC originating from the fallopian *** she received four cycles of combination chemotherapy with carboplatin plus *** tumor recurred with hepatic metastases 4 mo after initial surgery,and second resection of the tumors in the liver plus partial hepatectomy was *** was supplemented with five courses of a new combination chemotherapy with gemcitabine plus carboplatin,and there was no evidence of recurrence within the 22-mo follow-up period after the second *** MNAC originating from the fallopian tube is an extremely rare and high malignancy with a poor *** can be very aggressive,even at early *** is known about the clinical characteristics,pathological diagnosis,prognosis,and optimal management strategy of MNAC originating from the fallopian *** we report the first case of primary MNAC deriving from the fallopian tube.

Control of Bird Feeding Behavior by Tannin1 through Modulating the Biosynthesis of Polyphenols and Fatty Acid-Derived Volatiles in Sorghum

Bird predation during seed maturation causes great loss to agricultural *** this study,through GWAS analysis of a large-scale sorghum germplasm diversity panel,we identified that Tannin1,which encodes a WD40 protein functioning in the WD40/MYB/bHLH complex,controls bird feeding behavior in *** profiling analysis showed that a group of sorghum accessions preferred by birds contain mutated tan1-a/b alleles and accumulate significantly lower levels of anthocyanins and condensed tannin *** contrast,a variety of aromatic and fatty acid-derived volatiles accumulate at significantly higher levels in these bird-preference *** subsequently conducted both sparrow feeding and sparrow volatile attractant assays,which confirmed,respectively,the antifeedant and attractant functions of these differentially accumulated *** addition,the connection between the biosynthesis pathway of anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin and the pathway of fatty acid–derived volatile biosynthesis was demonstrated by discovering that Tannin1 complex modulates fatty acid biosynthesis by regulating the expression of SbGL2 in sorghum,thus affecting the accumulation of fatty acid-derived *** together,our study identified Tannin1 as the gene underlying the major locus controlling bird feeding behavior in sorghum,illustrating an example of the identification of an ecologically impactful molecular mechanism from field observation and providing significant insights into the chemistry of bird–plant ecological interactions.

Effects of process parameters on surface quality,composition segregation,microstructure and properties of QSn6.5-0.1 alloy slabs fabricated by HCCM horizontal continuous casting

Columnar-grained QSn6. 5-0. 1 alloy slabs with a width of 70 mm and thickness of 10 mm were fabricated by heating-cooling combined mold（ HCCM） horizontal continuous casting. The effects of process parameters on solidification microstructure,surface quality,composition segregation and mechanical properties were studied. The results showed that the slabs with good surface quality,excellent mechanical properties and no obvious segregation could be prepared at the melt casting temperature of 1 250 ℃,the heating-mold temperature of 1 150- 1 200℃,the cooling water flow rate of 600 L / h and the casting speed of 20- 80 mm / min. The slabs had the yield strength of 124- 155 MPa,the elongation rate of 46. 6%- 56. 3% and the surface roughness of 0. 22- 0. 55μm,which enabled them to be directly processed without subsequent milling surface. The ratio of Sn content in the surface to that in the core was 0. 83- 1. 10,with an average value close to 1. 0,and not obviously influenced by process parameters. When the casting speed increased from 20 to 80 mm / min,the grain size changed little if the other process parameters were the same. When the heating-mold temperature increased from 1 150 to 1 200℃,the grain size was obviously refined and became more uniform if the casting speed was the same. Within the range of the casting speed at which the columnar grain structure could be obtained,the columnar grain size was mainly influenced by the heating-mold temperature.

Magnetism of NaYbS_(2):From finite temperatures to ground state

Rare-earth chalcogenide compounds ARECh_(2)(A=alkali or monovalent metal,RE=rare earth,Ch=O,S,Se,Te)are a large family of quantum spin liquid(QSL)candidate ***2is a representative member of the *** key issues on NaYbS_(2),particularly how to determine the highly anisotropic spin Hamiltonian and describe the magnetism at finite temperatures and the ground state,remain to be *** this paper,we conducted an in-depth and comprehensive study on the magnetism of NaYbS_(2) from finite temperatures to the ground ***,we successfully detected three crystalline electric field(CEF)excitation energy levels using low-temperature Raman scattering *** them with the CEF theory and magnetization data,we worked out the CEF parameters,CEF energy levels,and CEF *** further determined a characteristic temperature of~40 K,above which the magnetism is dominated by CEF excitations while below which the spinexchange interactions play a main *** characteristic temperature has been confirmed by the temperature-dependent electron spin resonance(ESR)***-temperature ESR experiments on the dilute magnetic doped crystal of NaYb_(0.1)Lu_(0.9)S_(2) further helped us to determine the accurate ***,we quantitatively obtained the spin-exchange interactions in the spin Hamiltonian by consistently simulating the magnetization and specific heat ***,the above studies allow us to explore the ground state magnetism of NaYbS_(2) by using the density matrix renormalization *** combined numerical calculations and experimental results to demonstrate that the ground state of NaYbS_(2) is a Dirac-like QSL.

Facet Engineering in Constructing Lewis Acid-Base Pairs for CO_(2) Cycloaddition to High Value-Added Carbonates

Cycloaddition of epoxides with CO_(2) to synthesis cyclic carbonates is an atom-economic pathway for CO_(2) utilization with promising industry application value,while its efficiency was greatly inhibited for the lack of highly active catalytic ***,by taking BiOx(X=Cl,Br)with layered structure for example,we proposed a facet engineering strategy to construct Lewis acid-base pairs for CO_(2) cycloaddition,where the typical BiOBr with(O10)facets expose surface Lewis acid Bi sites and Lewis base Br sites *** the combination of in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS)and theoretical calculations,the oxygen atom of the epoxide is interacted with the Lewis acid Bi site to activate the ternary ring,then facilitates the attack of the carbon atom by the Lewis base Br site for the ring-opening of the epoxide,which is the rate-determining step in the cycloaddition *** a result,the BiOBr-(010)with rich surface Lewis acid-base pairs showed a high conversion of 85%with 100% atomic economy in the synthesis of cyclic-carbonates without any *** study provides a model structure for CO,cycloaddition to high value-added long chain chemicals.

Double layered,one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of M-TiO_2(M=Fe^(3+),Ni^(2+),Cu^(2+)and Co^(2+)) and their application in photocatalysis

A double layered, one-pot hydrothermal method was adopted in this work to prepare transition metal ions （Fe3＋, Ni2＋, Cu2＋ and Co2＋） doped TiO〉 The morphology and chemical properties of TiO2 and the status of metal ions were characterized with XRD, TEM, BET, UV-Vis and XPS analysis. TEM images show that the obtained TiO2 was very uniform with an average particle size of 10.4 nm. XPS, TEM and XRD results show that transitional metals were doped onto TiO2 in the form of ions. Photocatalytic decomposition of oxalic acid under UV illumination and methylene blue degradation under visible light on these materials were conducted, respectively. The results reveal that Cu2＋-TiO2 and C02＋-TiO2 showed a highest activity under UV and visible light illumination, respectively, and they were both more active than commercial P25 TiO2. With this special design of double layers, the hydrolysis of titanium precursor in the system with water can be easily controlled and metal ions are simply doped. This strategy can be further applied to synthesize metal ion doped TiO2 using various metal precursors with controllable amounts, and thus lead to better optimization of highly active photocatalyst.
