Structural Assessment of Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers in Supercritical CO_(2) Waste Heat Recovery Systems for Ship Applications

Printed circuit heat exchangers(PCHEs)are considered as the most promising heat exchangers for use of the supercritical carbon dioxide(S-CO_(2))Brayton cycle.As crucial components operating at high pressure and thermal load at the same time,PCHE structural integrity evaluations are essential.In this study,to assess the structural strength of PCHEs serving as recuperators and precoolers in the S-CO_(2) Brayton cycle as a waste heat recovery system for marine engines,the finite element method(FEM)is used and compared with a currently used method from ASME codes.The effects of temperature and pressure on the hot and cold sides are studied in terms of the temperature and pressure differences between the two sides and the main factors affecting its strength discussed.Then,detailed stress intensities of a PCHE under design conditions are investigated,and the results indicate that the highest stress appears at the middle of the semicircular arc of the channel,except for a concentration near the channel tip regions.Stresses of the PCHE are mainly caused by both pressure and temperature differences,with the minimum effect from temperature.The synthesis of the temperature and pressure fields exhibits a complicated action on the total stress under the design conditions.FEM was a more comprehensive means for structural assessment than the method from ASME codes.Further structural optimization of PCHE is conducted to ensure a maximum life span.This research work can provide theoretical guidance for structural integrity assessment of PCHE for the S-CO_(2) Brayton cycle.

Morphometrics of Heliolites(Tabulata) from the Late Ordovician, Yushan, Jiangxi, South China

The Upper Ordovician Xiazhen Formation in the Jiangshan-Changshan-Yushan （JCY） triangle area on the Zhejiang-Jiangxi provincial border, South China, is composed of a mixed carbonate-siliciclastic sequence representing various shallow-water platform environments. Highly diversified and abundant heliolitid coral faunas are recognized in the formation and occur over time and space in certain stratigraphic horizons and various lithofacies. Heliolites has been studied using multivariate morphometric analysis applied to differentiate species and evaluate intraspecific and interspecific variations. Ten morphological characters quantified by examination and measurement from transverse and longitudinal thin sections and statistically tested allowed selection of effective characters to discriminate species. Results of frequency histograms, correlation analysis and principle component analysis indicated that certain characters would be suitable for cluster analysis, which were performed on principle component score matrices obtained from the raw data set coordinated with coralla by all those characters. Five major clusters at a relative distance of five on the resulting dendrogram of Heliolites are regarded as morphospecies thus making valid taxa： Heliolites tashanensis Lin and Chow, 1977; Heliolites caracolica （Lin and Chow, 1977）; Heliolites columella （Lin and Chow, 1977）; Heliolites waicunensis Lin and Chow, 1977; and H. sinensis irregularis Lin and Chow, 1977. The discrimination of these morphospecies by the cluster analysis is verified by discriminant analyses and descriptive statistics.

Dear Editor,Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus Type 2(SARS-CoV-2) is the pathogen of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19), which has spread worldwide.SARS-CoV-2 is an enveloped virus belongs to the family of β-coronavirus(Xu et al., 2020). Its genome is a linear single-stranded positive-sense RNA about 30,000 nucleotides packed inside a virion with a diameter of 100 nm and a volume of about 10^(6)nm^(3)(Bar-On et al., 2020).

依托苏州地铁某车站深基坑,建立了有限元分析模型并模拟了实际开挖工况,得到的分析结果与现场监测数据进行了验证,证明了有限元模型的准确性。并在此基础上对影响SMW工法围护结构变形的常见因素进行了敏感性分析,选取围护结构最大位移u_(max)作为特征参数,围护结构入土深度、支撑刚度、支撑间距作为敏感性因素进行分析。得出结论是:支撑刚度对桩身最大位移u_(max)影响最大,支撑水平间距次之,围护结构深度对桩身最大位移u_(max)影响最小。

The ciliate genus Pleuronema comprises approximately 30 nominal species and has been reported in freshwater,brackish water,and marine habitats.Nevertheless,recent studies have indicated that there might be a large undiscovered species diversity.In the present work,four new Pleuronema species,namely P.foissneri sp.nov.,P.parasmalli sp.nov.,P.parasalmastra sp.nov.,and P.paraorientale sp.nov.,collected from Shenzhen,southern China,was investigated using taxonomic methods.The diagnosis,description,comparisons with morphologically related species and detailed morphometric data are supplied for each.The small subunit ribosomal RNA(SSU rRNA)gene of the four new species is sequenced and their molecular phylogeny is analyzed.The SSU rRNA gene tree shows that Pleuronema is polyphyletic comprising several separate clades.All four new species cluster consistently with P.orientale KF206429,P.puytoraci KF840520 and P.setigerum FJ848874 within the core Pleuronematidae+Peniculistomatidae clade.Phylogenies of Pleuronematidae-related taxa are also discussed.

Impact of type 2 diabetes mellitus on short-term and long-term outcomes of patients with esophageal squamous cell cancer undergoing resection: a propensity score analysis

Background:The association between type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and the risk of esophageal cancer remains unclear.The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of T2DM on short-term outcomes and long-term survival in patients with esophageal squamous cell cancer(ESCC).Methods:The present retrospective study included 862 patients diagnosed with ESCC between January 2001 and December 2010.Among them,280 patients had T2DM.A 1:1 propensity score-matched cohort consisting of 280 patients with and 280 without T2DM was selected from the 862 patients.The associations between T2DM and clinico-pathologic characteristics were assessed using theχ2 or Fisher’s exact test.Survival of ESCC patients with and without T2DM was calculated by using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared by using the Cox regression model between the two groups.Results:The occurrence rate of anastomotic leakage was significantly higher in patients with T2DM than in those without T2DM(P5.05%,the patients without T2DM showed a longer survival(P=0.001).Univariate and multivariate analysis results showed that T2DM was not an independent prognostic factor for patient survival.Conclusions:Type 2 diabetes mellitus is not an independent prognostic factor in patients with ESCC.However,the combination of T2DM with severe weight loss would be a predictor of poor prognosis.

Primal dual interior point dynamic programming for coordinated charging of electric vehicles

Coordinated charging of electric vehicles(EVs)is critical to provide safe and cost effective operation of distribution systems where household single phase charging of EV could contribute to imbalance of the distribution system.To date,reported researches on optimization methods for coordinated charging aiming at minimizing power losses have the disadvantages of low calculation efficiency when applied to large systems or have not taken the voltage constraints into account.The phase component and polar coordinates power flow equations of an unbalanced distribution system are derived.Primal dual interior point dynamic programming is introduced for coordinated charging of EVs to minimize distribution system losses where charging demand,voltage and current constraints have been taken into account.The proposed optimization is evaluated using an actual 423-bus case as the test system.Results are promisingwith the proposed method having good convergence under time-efficient calculations while providing optimization of power losses,lower load variance,and improvement of voltage profile versus uncoordinated scenarios.

Lead-free halide perovskite materials possess low toxicity,broadband luminescence and robust stability compared with conventional lead-based perovskites,thus holding great promise for eyes-friendly white light LEDs.However,the traditionally used preparation methods with a long period and limited product yield have curtailed the commercialization of these materials.Here we introduce a universal hydrochloric acid-assistant powder-to-powder strategy which can accomplish the goals of thermal-,pressure-free,eco-friendliness,short time,low cost and high product yield,simultaneously.The obtained Cs_(2)Na_(0.9)Ag_(0.1)In_(0.95)Bi_(0.05)Cl_(6)microcrystals exhibit bright self-trapped excitons emission with quantum yield of(98.3±3.8)%,which could retain(90.5±1.3)%and(96.8±0.8)%after continuous heating or ultraviolet-irradiation for 1000 h,respectively.The phosphor converted-LED exhibited near-unity conversion efficiency from ultraviolet chip to self-trapped excitons emission at~200 mA.Various ions doping(such as Cs_(2)Na_(0.9)Ag_(0.1)InCl_(6):Ln^(3+))and other derived lead-free perovskite materials(such as Cs_(2)ZrCl_(6)and Cs_(4)MnBi_(2)Cl_(12))with high luminous performance are all realized by our proposed strategy,which has shown excellent availability towards commercialization.

Dating for Jifanggou metamorphic complex in central Jilin and its tectonic implications

Based on the results of four regional geological surveys of 1: 50000 including Shulan County map in Jilin,taking Shulan area as the study area,the authors re-delineated the rock type assemblages,e.g. metamorphic rhyolite,metamorphic tuffaceous breccia lava,sericite-quartz schist and tremolite altered rock,etc.,and the structural contacts between them. With the help of in-situ LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating for zircons,it is concluded that the zircon crystallization ages of the metamorphic rhyolite,the metamorphic andesitic tuff breccia lava and the tremolite altered rock are 339. 1 ± 1. 3 Ma( n = 27,MSWD = 0. 78),351. 8 ± 1. 7 Ma( n = 21,MSWD = 0.82),and 362.0±1.8 Ma( n = 43,MSWD = 2.2) respectively. The metamorphic complex is actually a set of tectonic melange which comprises the rocks in different types,sources,times,or tectonic settings,and was formed by tectonism.
