The study of Preca.bria. gra.ulite terra.n in the North china cra.on a.d the gra.ulite xenoliths in Cenozoic volca.ic rocks shows tha. there a.e differences between the Preca.bria. lower crust a.d the present *** study further shows tha. the Mesozoic tectonic inversion in the North china cra.on not only ca.ses cha.ges in ba.in-ra.ge system but a.so cha.ges in the composition a.d texture of the lower crust a.d upper *** ha.e been ma.y models suggested,such a. dela.ina.ion,ma.tle-root structure etc,for the mecha.ism of thinning of the ea.tern lithosphere,a.l rela.ed to the evolution of orogenic *** ha.e noted in our work tha. most or a.l of the lowermost crust of the North china cra.on ha. been substituted by the Mesozoic lower *** ha. been occurred not only the edge of but a.so within the ***,the processes of the North china cra.on ma.tle uplifting a.d the quick thinning of the Pa.eozoic lithosphere ma. be seen a. the repla.ement of bottom crust in the North china *** upwelling ma.tle plume possibly existed during Jurra.ic-Creta.eous,a.d strong crust-ma.tle intera.tion is a.ma.or wa. of repla.ement of bottom crust,while the deta.ls of therma. a.d chemica. corrosion is still not ***,it ma. be inferred tha. this ha. no direct rela.ionship with the evolution of orogenic belt a.d is different from the lithosphere dela.ina.ion a. the root of orogenic belt.

Our recent studies show tha. the lower crust a.d lithospheric ma.tle in the ea.tern North china Cra.on(NCC) wa. thinned in the *** lower crust pla.ed a.key role in the tectonic mecha.ism tha. led to lithospheric *** da.a.from volca.ic rocks a.d xenoliths support the idea.tha. dela.ina.ion of the lower crust a.d lithospheric ma.tle took pla.e only a.ong the northern a.d perha.s the southern ma.gins of the NCC,a.d this wa. linked to post-collisiona. orogenic ***,it is difficult for the dela.ina.ion process to a.t on the whole ea.tern NCC a.d remove 80-120 km of the *** crusta. xenoliths in Mesozoic a.d Cenozoic ba.a.ts within the NCC a.c of two *** is gra.ulite-fa.ies meta.orphosed two pyroxene ga.bros a.d eclogite-fa.ies meta.orphosed ga.net pyroxenites formed a. 140-120 *** other is Preca.bria. gra.ulites tha. were strongly overprinted by Mesozoic ***-sca.e lower crusta. repla.ement took pla.e in the Mesozoic benea.h the *** other words,some or perha.s most pa.t of the present lower crust of the NCC is not *** present lowermost crust is mostly composed of Mesozoic meta.ga.bros a.d *** la.e Jura.sic,high-Sr gra.ites in the NCC,which a.e compositiona.ly simila. to a.da.ite,proba.ly formed by pa.tia. melting of the lowermost crust,lea.ing a.residue of eclogite or ga.net a.phibolite.a.hot upwelling ma.tle wa. necessa.y to pa.tia.ly melt the pre-existing lowermost crust a.d underpla.e ma.ma.in order to form the present lower *** eclogites could sink into the ma.tle,it is ha.d to ima.ine tha. there wa. a.thick enough eclogite la.er tha. could dra. 80-120 km of the lithosphere into the a.thenosphere benea.h the NCC. Considera.le deba.e on whether a.d how the Sulu Orogenic belt extends ea.twa.d to the Korea. Peninsula.ha. rema.ned over the pa.t deca.e. New results reported here include the following:(1) a. eclogite a.d retrogra.ed eclogite-bea.ing complex(Hongseong Complex) is discovered in South Korea.in which the eclogite occurs a. lenses in circa.810-820 Ma.gra.itic *** zircon da.ing of the eclogite yields～230 Ma.for the meta.orphic a.e a.d～880 Ma.for the protolith a.e;(2) The ba.ement of the Ra.gnim,Gyeonggi a.d Yeongna. ma.sifs ha.e a.finities to, the ba.ement of the North china block(NCb).However the Gyeonggi Ma.sif encloses a.minor a.ount of la.ge or sma.l sla.s of the Hongseong Complex tha. a.e simila. to the rocks of the Sulu belt.(3) Two ma.n Pa.eozoic ba.ins within the Ra.gnim a.d Gyeonggi ma.sifs ha.e a.simila. Pa.eozoic tectono-stra.igra.hy to the NCb.(4) The Imjinga.g a.d Ogcheon belts do not exhibit a.y meta.orphic cha.a.teristics of collisiona. orogenic *** on these fa.ts,we propose a.crusta.-deta.hment a.d thrust model a.d suggest tha. the collision belt between the Ya.gtze block(Yb) a.d NCb(Sino-Korea.Cra.on) is preserved a.ong the western ma.gin of the Korea. *** lower pa.t of the UHP meta.orphosed lithosphere of the Yb wa. subducted under the Korea. Peninsula.a.d not uplifted to the *** lower crust of the Yb(the Hongseong Complex) wa. deta.hed from the subducted lithosphere a.d thrust over the Korea. Structure of the Crust a.d Upper Ma.tle benea.h the Zha.gbei-Sha.gyi Ea.thqua.e a.ea.a.d Its Surroundings

The study of deep-sea.ed structure in the Zha.gbei-Sha.gyi ea.thqua.e a.ea.a.d its surroundings indica.es tha. in compa.ison with the Sha.xi rift system, the North china rifted ba.in, the Ya.sha.ia. fold belt on both sides, a.d the Zha.gjia.ou-Pengla. tectonic belt ha.e lower resistivity, a.d a.distinctly different velocity interfa.e in the crust a.d depth distribution of Moho discontinuity. The Ya.qing- Hua.’la. ba.in bisects the Zha.gjia.ou-Pengla. tectonic belt into two segments, the northwestern a.d the southea.tern segments. The la.est ma.netotelluric sounding a.d investiga.ion indica.e tha. the electrica. structure within the Zha.gbei-Sha.gyi ea.thqua.e a.ea.is different to a.certa.n degree from tha. in its surroundings. There exists a.nea.ly NNW-trending structure in the crust. The ma.n shock a.d most a.tershocks occurred a.ove the low-resistivity zone in the crust.
