The current study aimed to compare the effects between remimazolam and propofol on hemodynamic stability during the induction of general anesthesia in elderly patients.We used propofol at a rate of 60 mg/(kg·h)in the propofol group(group P)or remimazolam at a rate of 6 mg/(kg·h)in the remimazolam group(group R)for the induction.A processed electroencephalogram was used to determine whether the induction was successful and when to stop the infusion of the study drug.We measured when patients entered the operating room(T_(0)),when the induction was successful(T_(1)),and when before(T_(2))and 5 min after successful endotracheal intubation(T_(3)).We found that mean arterial pressure(MAP)was lower at T_(1–3),compared with T_(0) in both groups,but higher at T_(2) in the group R,whileΔMAP_(T0–T2) andΔMAP_(max) were smaller in the group R(ΔMAP_(T0–T2):the difference between MAP at time point T_(0) and T_(2),ΔMAP_(max):the difference between MAP at time point T_(0) and the lowest value from T_(0) to T_(3)).Cardiac index and stroke volume index did not differ between groups,whereas systemic vascular resistance index was higher at T_(1–3) in the group R.These findings show that remimazolam,compared with propofol,better maintains hemodynamic stability during the induction,which may be attributed to its ability to better maintain systemic vascular resistance levels.

To prepare a highly efficient NiMo/Al_(2)O_(3) hydrodesulfurization catalyst,the combined effects of specific organic functional groups and alumina surface characteristics were investigated.First,the correlation between the surface characteristics of four different alumina and the existing Mo species states was established.It was found that the Mo equilibrium adsorption capacity can be used as a specific descriptor to quantitatively evaluate the changes in surface characteristics of different alumina.A lower Mo equilibrium adsorption capacity for alumina means weaker metal-support interaction and the loaded Mo species are easier to transform into MoS2.However,the Mo-O-Al bonds still exist at the metal-support interface.The introduction of cationic surfactant hecadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB)can further improve Mo species dispersion through electrostatic attraction with Mo anions and interaction of its alkyl chain with the alumina surface;meanwhile,the introduction of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA)can complex with Ni ions to enhance the Ni-promoting effect on Mo.Therefore,the NiMo catalyst designed using alumina with lower Mo equilibrium adsorption capacity and the simultaneous addition of EDTA and CTAB exhibits the highest hydrodesulfurization activity for 4,6-dimethyl dibenzothiophene because of its proper metal-support interaction and more well-dispersed Ni-Mo-S active phases.

Background:Apolipoprotein E4(ApoE4)allele is the strongest genetic risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer's disease,and it can aggravate depressive symptoms in non-AD patients.However,the impact of ApoE4 on AD-associated depression-l ike behaviors and its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain unclear.Methods:This study developed a 5xFAD mouse model overexpressing human ApoE4(E4FAD).Behavioral assessments and synaptic function tests were conducted to explore the effects of ApoE4 on cognition and depression in 5xFAD mice.Changes in peripheral and central lipid metabolism,as well as the levels of serotonin(5-HT)andγ-aminobutyric acid(GABA)neurotransmitters in the prefrontal cortex,were examined.In addition,the protein levels of 24-dehydrocholesterol reductase/glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta/mammalian target of rapamycin(DHCR24/GSK3β/m TOR)and postsynaptic density protein 95/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II/brain-derived neurotrophic factor(PSD95/CaMK-II/BDNF)were measured to investigate the molecular mechanism underlying the effects of ApoE4 on AD mice.Results:Compared with 5xFAD mice,E4FAD mice exhibited more severe depressionlike behaviors and cognitive impairments.These mice also exhibited increased amyloid-beta deposition in the hippocampus,increased astrocyte numbers,and decreased expression of depression-related neurotransmitters 5-HT and GABA in the prefrontal cortex.Furthermore,lipid metabolism disorders were observed in E4FAD,manifesting as elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in peripheral blood,decreased cholesterol level in the prefrontal cortex,and reduced expression of key enzymes and proteins related to cholesterol synthesis and homeostasis.Abnormal expression of proteins related to the DHCR24/GSK3β/m TOR and PSD95/CaMK-II/BDNF pathways was also observed.Conclusion:This study found that ApoE4 overexpression exacerbates depressionlike behaviors in 5xFAD mice and confirmed that ApoE4 reduces cognitive function in these mice.The mechanism may

Study on the fast elimination of smoke particle based on electro-acoustic coupling agglomeration technology

Fire smoke,which consists large amounts of fine particles,is considered as the fatal factor in fires.In this study,a fast smoke particle elimination method based on electro-acoustic coupling agglomeration technology is proposed.First,the experimental results show that the electro-acoustic coupling agglomeration has higher smoke elimination efficiency compared to single-field.The smoke transmission is much less than 80%after 30s of single acoustic or electric field action,while the coupled field reaches 90%.Then,the effects of acoustic frequency,sound pressure level and voltage on the smoke elimination characteristics are discussed.It is found that the optimal acoustic frequency is 1.5kHz.While as the sound pressure level and voltage increase,the elimination efficiency first increases and then tends to stabilize,the critical values of the sound pressure level and voltage are 135 dB and 7kV.This indicates that there is an optimal combination of the three variables.Finally,through the theoretical analysis of particle movement and the micro-morphology of agglomerates,the particle agglomeration mechanism under the electro-acoustic coupling is analyzed.This study provides a new idea for the fast elimination of fire smoke particle.

The emergence of microhemispherical resonant gyroscopes,which integrate the advantages of exceptional stability and long lifetime with miniaturization,has afforded new possibilities for the development of whole-angle gyroscopes.However,existing methods used for manufacturing microhemispherical resonant gyroscopes based on MEMS technology face the primary drawback of intricate and costly processing.here,we report the design,fabrication,and characterization of the first 3D-printable microhemispherical shell resonator for a Coriolis vibrating gyroscope.We remarkably achieve fabrication in just two steps bypassing the dozen or so steps required in traditional micromachining.By utilizing the intricate shaping capability and ultrahigh precision offered by projection microstereolithography,we fabricate 3D high-aspect-ratio resonant structures and controllable capacitive air gaps,both of which are extremely difficult to obtain via MEMS technology.In addition,the resonance frequency of the fabricated resonators can be tuned by electrostatic forces,and the fabricated resonators exhibit a higher quality factor in air than do typical MEMS microhemispherical resonators.This work demonstrates the feasibility of rapidly batch-manufacturing microhemispherical shell resonators,paving the way for the development of microhemispherical resonator gyroscopes for portable inertial navigation.Moreover,this particular design concept could be further applied to increase uptake of resonator tools in the MEMS community.

Building fresh air supply needs to meet certain regulations and fit people’s ever-growing indoor air quality de-mand.However,fresh air handling requires huge energy consumption that goes against the goal of net-zero energy buildings.Thus,in this work,an adaptive fresh air pre-handling system is designed to reduce the cool-ing and heating loads of HVAC system.The sky-facing surface of the system uses electrochromic mechanism to manipulate the optical properties and thus make full use of solar energy(solar heating)and deep space cold source(radiative cooling)by switching between heating and cooling modes.In the cooling mode,the sky-facing surface shows a transmittance of down to zero,while the reflectance is high at 0.89 on average.In the heating mode,the electrochromic glass is highly transparent,allowing the sunlight to reach the solar heat absorber.To obtain the energy-saving potential under different climates,six cities were selected from various climate regions in China.Results show that the adaptive fresh air pre-handling system can be effective in up to 55.4%time of a year.The maximum energy-saving ratios for medium office,warehouse,and single-family house can reach up to 11.52%,26.62%,and 18.29%,respectively.In addition,the system shows multi-climate adaptability and broad application scenarios,making it a potential solution to building energy saving.

In this paper, by introducing the spatial modulation(SM) scheme into the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) relaying system, a SM-aided UAV(SM-UAV) cooperative relay network is presented. The performance of the SM-UAV relay network is investigated over Nakagami-m fading channels, where the UAV remains stationary over a given area. According to the performance analysis, using the amplify-and-forward(AF) protocol, the effective signalto-noise ratio(SNR) and the corresponding probability density function and moment generating function are, respectively, derived. With these results, the average bit error rate(BER) is further deduced, and resultant approximate closed-form expression is achieved. Based on the approximate BER, we derive the asymptotic BER to characterize the error performance of the system at high SNR. With this asymptotic BER, the diversity gain of the system is derived, and the resulting diversity order is attained. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the performance analysis. Namely, approximate BER has the value close to the simulated one, and asymptotic BER can match the corresponding simulation well at high SNR. Thus, the BER performance of the system can be effectively assessed in theory, and conventional simulation will be avoided. Besides, the impacts of the antenna number, modulation order,fading parameter and UAV position on the system performance are also analyzed. The results indicate that the BER performance is increased with the increases of Nakagami parameter m and/or receive antenna and/or the decrease of modulation order.

Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)has aggressive characteristics as exemplified by the high risk of recurrence,metastasis,and patient mortality.1 Cytotoxic chemotherapy may reduce tumor burden initially,but leave behind chemo-resistant breast cancer stem cells(BCSCs)that lead to tumor recurrence and metastasis.2 Chemotherapy induces BCsC enrichment through the activation of glutathione biosynthesis pathways,which increases intracellular glutathione levels and specifies the BCSC phenotype through complicated downstream signaling pathways.3 Glutathione S-transferases(GSTs),a superfamily(which contains seven cytosolic classes:Alpha,Kappa,Mu,Omega,Pi,Theta,and Zeta,and one microsomal class MGSTs)of phase Il enzymes that catalyze the conjugation of glutathione with electrophilic compounds,play a critical role in detoxification and chemotherapy resistance of cancer cells.However,the role of GSTs in the regulation of BCSCs is largely elusive.

Magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)induction pumps are contactless pumps able to withstand harsh environments.The rate of fluid flow through the pump directly affects the efficiency and stability of the device.To explore the influence of induction pump settings on the related delivery speed,in this study,a numerical model for coupled electromagnetic and flow field effects is introduced and used to simulate liquid metal lithium flow in the induction pump.The effects of current intensity,frequency,coil turns and coil winding size on the velocity of the working fluid are analyzed.It is shown that the first three parameters have a significant impact,while changes in the coil turns have a negligible influence.The maximum increase in working fluid velocity within the pump for the parameter combination investigated in this paper is approximately 618%.As the frequency is increased from 20 to 60 Hz,the maximum increase in the mean flow rate of the working fluid is approximately 241%.These research findings are intended to support the design and optimization of these devices.

Cutting edge preparation of microdrills by shear thickening polishing for improved hole quality in electronic PCBs

Printed circuit boards(PCBs)are representative composite materials,and their high-quality drilling machining remains a persistent challenge in the industry.The finishing of the cutting edge of a microdrill is crucial to drill performance in machining fine-quality holes with a prolonged tool life.The miniature size involving submicron scale geometric dimensions,a complex flute shape,and low fracture toughness makes the cutting edge of microdrills susceptible to breakage and has been the primary limiting factor in edge preparation for microdrills.In this study,a newly developed cutting edge preparation method for microdrills was tested experimentally on electronic printed circuit boards.The proposed method,namely,shear thickening polishing,limited the cutting edge burrs and chipping on the cutting edge,and this in turn transformed the cutting edge’s radius from being sharp to smooth.Moreover,the edge–edge radius could be regulated by adjusting the processing time.PCB drilling experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of different cutting edge radii on wear,hole position accuracy,nail head value,and hole wall roughness.The proposed approach showed 20%enhancement in hole position accuracy,33%reduction in the nail head value,and 19%reduction in hole wall roughness compared with the original microdrill.However,a threshold is needed;without it,excessive shear thickening polishing will result in a blunt edge,which may accelerate the wear of the microdrill.Wear was identified as the primary factor that reduced hole quality.The study indicates that in printed circuit board machining,microdrills should effectively eliminate grinding defects and maintain the sharpness of the cutting edge as much as possible to obtain excellent drilling quality.Overall,shear thickening polishing is a promising method for cutting edge preparation of microdrills.Further research and optimization can lead to additional improvements in microdrill performance and contribute to the continued advancement of printed circuit board manufa
