Two-stage Planning Method for Energy Router Considering Its Optimal Operation in Distribution Networks

An energy router can effectively optimize the network loss and power quality of distribution networks. The optimal configuration of the energy router is relatively complex because issues dynamically influence each other, such as the location of the energy router, optimal number and capacity of its ports, and building new distribution lines for the ports. Presently, there has been very few research studies on the practical problems for the energy router. In this paper, a planning model of an energy router combined with the distribution network is established, which fully exploits the active and reactive power control abilities of the energy router to optimize the operation of the grid. The configuration problem is decoupled into two stages. The upper layer determines the location of the energy router and the parameters of the candidate new distribution lines for the ports. The lower layer calculates the optimal configuration of the energy router by minimizing the total annual cost. Because of the same rated bus voltage in the distribution network, the existing structure of the energy router is changed to be more applicable for the distribution network, and then the power flow model of the energy router is also modified. Due to the nonlinearity of the model, the planning model is converted into a mixed-integer second-order cone model to solve efficiently. In addition, some core factors influencing the optimal scheme of the energy router are also analyzed in this paper. Simulation results show that the optimal scheme of the energy router can significantly improve the economic deployment of the energy router, and optimize the network loss and power quality of the distribution network.

Data-driven Detection and Identification of Line Parameters with PMU and Unsynchronized SCADA Measurements in Distribution Grids

Line parameters play an important role in the control and management of distribution systems.Currently,phasor measurement unit(PMU)systems and supervisory control and data acquisition(SCADA)systems coexist in distribution systems.Unfortunately,SCADA and PMU measurements usually do not match each other,resulting in inaccurate detection and identification of line parameters based on measurements.To solve this problem,a data-driven method is proposed.SCADA measurements are taken as samples and PMU measurements as the population.A probability parameter identification index(PPII)is derived to detect the whole line parameter based on the probability density function(PDF)parameters of the measurements.For parameter identification,a power-loss PDF with the PMU time stamps and a power-loss chronological PDF are derived via kernel density estimation(KDE)and a conditional PDF.Then,the power-loss samples with the PMU time stamps and chronological correlations are generated by the two PDFs of the power loss via the Metropolis-Hastings(MH)algorithm.Finally,using the power-loss samples and PMU current measurements,the line parameters are identified using the total least squares(TLS)algorithm.Hardware simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for distribution network line parameter detection and identification.

Planning Model for Energy Routers Considering Peer-to-Peer Energy Transactions Among Multiple Distribution Networks

A high proportion of renewable energy affects the power quality of distribution networks,and surplus energy will be sold to the upstream grid at a low price.In this paper,considering peer-to-peer energy transactions,the energy router-based multiple distribution networks are analyzed to solve the above problems and realize collaborative consumption of renewable energy.Presently,the investing cost of an energy router is high,and research on the economic operation of energy routers in distribution networks is little.Therefore,this paper establishes a planning model for energy routers considering peer-to-peer energy transactions among distribution networks,and explores the benefits of peer-to-peer energy transactions through energy router based multiple distribution networks.A structure of an energy router suitable for peer-to-peer energy transactions is selected,and a power flow calculation model based on a multilayer structure is established.The energy router’s scheduling model is established,and unique functions of the energy router and revenue of each distribution network are considered.A power flow calculation model based on peer-to-peer interconnection of multiple distribution networks through energy routers is also established.Finally,simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed planning model.Results show that peer-topeer energy transaction among distribution networks through energy routers can effectively reduce the comprehensive cost of distribution networks,significantly improve the power quality of the distribution networks,and reduce the impact of power fluctuation on the upstream grid incurred by the distribution network.

Stochastic and Distributed Optimal Energy Management of Active Distribution Networks Within Integrated Office Buildings

This paper proposes a stochastic and distributed optimal energy management approach for active distribution networks(ADNs)within office buildings.The proposed approach aims at scheduling office buildings fitted with heating ventilation and air conditioning(HVAC)systems,and electric vehicle(EV)charging piles,to participate in the ADN optimization.First,an energy management approach for the ADN with aggregated office buildings is proposed.And the ADN optimization model is formulated considering the detailed building thermal dynamics and the mobile behaviors of workers.Then,to consider un-certainties of photovoltaic(PV)power,scenario-based stochastic programming is integrated into the ADN optimization model.To further realize the stochastic energy management of the ADN within office buildings in a distributed manner,the alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM)is used to solve the ADN optimization model.The original ADN optimization problem is divided into the network-side and the building-side sub-problems to effectively protect the privacy of the ADN and the office buildings.Finally,the ADN optimization model incorporating office buildings is validated in the winter by numerical studies.In addition,the impacts of comfort temperature range and expected state of charge(SOC)at departure are analyzed.Index Terms—ADN,EV,HVAC system,Office building,Stochastic and distributed energy management.

Outlier Reconstruction Based Distribution System State Estimation Using Equivalent Model of Long Short-term Memory and Metropolis-Hastings Sampling

The accuracy of distribution system state estimation(DDSE)is reduced when phasor measurement unit(PMU)measurements contain outliers because of cyber attacks or global positioning system spoofing attacks.Therefore,to enhance the robustness of DDSE to measurement outliers,approximate the target distribution of Metropolis-Hastings(MH)sampling,and judge the prediction of the long short-term memory(LSTM)network,this paper proposes an outlier reconstruction based state estimation method using the equivalent model of the LSTM network and MH sampling(E-LM model),motivated by the characteristics of the chronological correlations of PMU measurements.First,the target distribution of outlier reconstruction is derived using a kernel density estimation function.Subsequently,the reasons and advantages of the E-LM model are explained and analyzed from a mathematical point of view.The proposed LSTM-based MH sampling can approximate the target distribution of MH sampling to decrease the number of the futile iterations.Moreover,the proposed MH-based forecasting of the LSTM can judge each LSTM prediction,which is independent of its true value.Finally,simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the E-LM model by integrating the LSTM network and the MH sampling into the outlier reconstruction based DDSE.

Optimal Islanding for Restoration of Power Distribution Systems Using Prim’s MST Algorithm

Power systems can suffer outages,causing complete or partial disconnection of their power supply to load centers within the distribution networks.Distributed Generation(DG)plays an essential role in power systems.DG can be used as a back-up power source to enhance the resiliency and reliability of a power system.Island mode operations after outages in an active distributing network(ADN)is an effective way to maintain continuity of the power supply to significant loads.It is a quite complicated task for power system operators to find the power flow path.Previous studies have primarily used pre-defined guidelines to find feasible power flow paths,and have focused on multiple islands for restoration.In these studies,possible restoration pathfinding with DG was the fundamental weakness,and furthermore,the power of DG was limited to pre-defined boundaries in the form of islands.Therefore,in this study,a new algorithm has been proposed,which uses the minimum spanning tree(MST)method to find the most feasible path.The proposed algorithm starts at any random node(in this case,DG),and progresses by selecting the next node with the least cost(weight),thus considering all the nodes through which power will flow.The proposed model is formulated as a multiobjective program considering the priority of loads and minimum power loss.The effectiveness of the proposed model is tested on a modified IEEE69-bus distribution system with the penetration of multiple distributed generation sources at different nodes.Results were compared with the strategies found in literature,and the proposed method was found to be feasible and efficient.

Optimal Scheduling of Residential Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Based on Deep Reinforcement Learning

Residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning(HVAC) provides important demand response resources for the new power system with high proportion of renewable energy. Residential HAVC scheduling strategies that adapt to realtime electricity price signals formulated by demand response program and ambient temperature can significantly reduce electricity costs while ensuring occupants' comfort. However, since the pricing process and weather conditions are affected by many factors, conventional model-based method is difficult to meet the scheduling requirements in complex environments. To solve this problem, we propose an adaptive optimal scheduling strategy for residential HVAC based on deep reinforcement learning(DRL) method. The scheduling problem can be regarded as a Markov decision process(MDP). The proposed method can adaptively learn the state transition probability to make economical decision under the tolerance violations. Specifically, the residential thermal parameters obtained by the leastsquares parameter estimation(LSPE) can provide a basis for the state transition probability of MDP. Daily simulations are verified under the electricity prices and temperature data sets, and numerous experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Adaptive Islanding Strategy of Sustainable Distribution System for Post-restoration Failures

The power system is susceptible to failures,and further interruptions by subsequent outages which may cause extended events in the formed island.Most of the literature reviewed has focused on island formation after the disconnection of the main grid supply.However,there is still a need to analyze the post-restoration failures to improve the resilience and minimize the pro-longed disconnection of priority customers.The current research investigates the behavior of islanding schemes under secondary collapses and provides an adaptive solution to withstand such severities.A new total active critical node finding methodology is presented which eases the rearrangement of the initially formed island when affected by multiple faults or DG failures.The concept of single islanding with the coordination of multiple DGs is also discussed,in which the DG's power-sharing capacity is not confined to the boundaries of only particular islands.An economic plan is also proposed to select the controlled type DGs to reduce the overall cost of generation by reducing fuel cost.To evaluate the network's effectiveness and robustness,the proposed adaptive method is deployed on an updated IEEE 69-bus distribution system.Index Terms-Active distribution network,distributed generation,multi-objective,post-restoration,single islanding.

Asperuloside Promotes Apoptosis of Cervical Cancer Cells through Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress-Mitochondrial Pathway

Objective: To investigate the effects of asperuloside on cervical cancer based on endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress and mitochondrial pathway. Methods: Different doses(12.5–800 μg/mL) of asperuloside were used to treat cervical cancer cell lines Hela and CaSki to calculate the half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC_(50)) of asperuloside. The cell proliferation was analyzed by clone formation assay. Cell apoptosis, intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential were determined by flow cytometry. The protein expressions of cleaved-caspase-3, Bcl-2, Bax, Cyt-c, cleaved-caspase-4 and glucose-regulated protein 78(GRP78) were analyzed by Western blot. And the inhibitor of ER stress, 4-phenyl butyric acid(4-PBA) was used to treat cervical cancer cells to further verify the role of ER stress in the apoptosis of cervical cancer cells induced by asperuloside. Results: Asperuloside of 325, 650, and 1300 μg/mL significantly inhibited the proliferation and promoted apoptosis of Hela and CaSki cells(P<0.01). All doses of asperuloside significantly increased intracellular ROS levels, reduced mitochondrial membrane potential, significantly reduced Bcl-2 protein expression level, and increased Bax, Cyt-c, GRP78 and cleaved-caspase-4 expressions(P<0.01). In addition, 10 mmol/L 4-PBA treatment significantly promoted cell proliferation and reduced apoptosis(P<0.05), and 650 μg/mL asperuloside could reverse 4-PBA-induced increased cell proliferation, decreased apoptosis and cleaved-caspase-3,-4 and GRP78 protein expressions(P<0.05). Conclusion: Our study revealed the role of asperuloside in cervical cancer, suggesting that asperuloside promotes apoptosis of cervical cancer cells through ER stress-mitochondrial pathway.

Metabolomics as a research field and a set of techniques is to study the entire small molecules in biological samples.Metabolomics is emerging as a powerful tool generally for pre-cision medicine.Particularly,integration of microbiome and metabolome has revealed the mechanism and functionality of microbiome in human health and disease.However,metabo-lomics data are very complicated.Preprocessing/pretreating and normalizing procedures on metabolomics data are usually required before statistical analysis.In this review article,we comprehensively review various methods that are used to preprocess and pretreat metabolo-mics data,including MS-based data and NMR-based data preprocessing,dealing with zero and/or missing values and detecting outliers,data normalization,data centering and scaling,data transformation.We discuss the advantages and limitations of each method.The choice for a suitable preprocessing method is determined by the biological hypothesis,the characteristics of the data set,and the selected statistical data analysis method.We then provide the perspective of their applications in the microbiome and metabolome research.
