Adhesive hydrogel has drawn great attention for wide applications in wound healing owing to its excellent biocompatibility and lasting ***,traditional adhesive hydrogels only keep the wound moist to promote wound *** is still imperative to fabricate adhesive hydrogels that exhibit efficient antibacterial ability,active driving dynamic wound closure,and reactive oxygen species(ROS)scavenging together with excellent mechanical ***,a novel hydrogel based on poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide)(PNIPAAm),a thermoresponsive polymer,and tannic acid(TA)-Ag nanoparticles(TA-Ag NPs)exhibiting active contraction,tissue adhesion,anti-inflammatory and antibacterial functions was ***-Ag dispersed in the hydrogel not only functioned as the catalyst to polymerize the reaction but also provided additional anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ***,tannic acid containing catechol groups endowed the hydrogel with adhesive *** interestingly,the obtained hydrogel exhibited the thermoresponsive shrinkage ability,which could mechanically drive wound closure due to the presence of PNIPAAm *** vivo mouse full-thickness skin defect model demonstrated that this actively contractible and antibacterial hydrogel is a promising dressing to improve wound healing process by accelerating tissue regeneration and preventing bacterial ***,this multi-functional adhesive hydrogel developed here may provide a new possibility for wound healing.

The effects of four transplantation methods on five coral species at the Sanya Bay

Coral transplantation is considered as one of the major tools to increase coral abundance for degraded coral *** investigate the effects of various methods and coral species in transplantation, coral fragments（n=902） of five coral species were transplanted by four methods at Luhuitou, the Sanya Bay, Hainan Province, China, where the reef has been over-exploited and is still threatened by human activities and natural disasters. Ten months after the transplant, the average survivorship of the transplanted corals was 45.5%. Methodologies had different effects on the transplanted corals, but none of them was efficacious for all coral species. Methodology could not change the decreasing trend for Montipora foliosa and Acropora hyacinthus, although it did slow down their decline. All transplants of A. hyacinthus and M. foliosa had high mortalities and significant decrease on survival area, while Porites andrewsi and Galaxea fascicularis had lower mortalities and partial mortalities. Only one method had significant effect on increasing survival area of G. fascicularis, same as P. andrewsi. Out of the five transplanted coral species, Pocillopora damicornis was the only species that had living tissue area increase in all applied methods, while the others had decreased live tissue area in one or more methods. The results of this study suggested that performing coral transplantation in a highly threatened area was not efficient unless the threats were diminished or erased. Moreover, proper species selection for coral transplantation is crucial, especially in a disturbed environment. Methodology, although having limited effects on improving results of coral transplantation, cannot compensate the maladjustment of vulnerable species to the stresses on the Luhuitou Reef. Coral transplantation on Luhuitou Reef should not be performed unless the stresses are under controlled,and corals with good tolerance to the environment should be considered first.

TANDEM and GMAW Twin Wire Welding of Q690 Steel Used in Hydraulic Support

Compared with using semi-automatic gas shielded arc welding, using automatic TANDEM twin wire welding and twin wire gas metal arc welding （GMAW） to weld Q690 steel, a low-alloy high-strength structural steel used in the hydraulic support in the fully-mechanized mining face, the welding speed, deposition rate, production environment and welding quality can be obviously improved. Compared with GMAW twin wire welding, a refined micro- structure in the weld and heat-affected zone （HAZ）, narrow HAZ and improved joint strength were achieved with TANDEM on Q690. Also, due to the push-pull pulsed way in TANDEM welding, the droplet transfer, distribution on heat flow and interaction between two arcs were completely different from those in GMAW twin wire system. The heat input of TANDEM is only about 76.6% of GMAW, and correspondingly, the welding speed and welding seam can be obviously improved. The complete oscillation caused by TANDEM pulsed current occurred in the welding pool, which refined the grains in the microstructure. The results show that TANDEM twin wire welding is very suitable in the welding of Q690 used in the hydraulic support.

W55a Encodes a Novel Protein Kinase That Is Involved in Multiple Stress Responses

Protein kinases play crucial roles in response to external environment stress signals. A putative protein kinase, W55a, belonging to SNFl-related protein kinase 2 （SnRK2） subfamily, was isolated from a cDNA library of drought-treated wheat seedlings. The entire length of W55a was obtained using rapid amplification of 5＇ cDNA ends （5＇-RACE） and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction（RT-PCR）. It contains a 1 029-bp open reading frame （ORF） encoding 342 amino acids. The deduced amino acid sequence of W55a had eleven conserved catalytic subdomains and one Ser/Thr protein kinase active-site that characterize Ser/Thr protein kinases. Phylogenetic analysis showed that W55a was 90.38% homologous with rice SAPK1, a member of the SnRK2 family. Using nullisomic-tetrasomic and ditelocentric lines of Chinese Spring, W55a was located on chromosome 2BS. Expression pattern analysis revealed that W55a was upregulated by drought and salt, exogenous abscisic acid, salicylic acid, ethylene and methyl jasmonate, but was not responsive to cold stress. In addition, W55a transcripts were abundant in leaves, but not in roots or stems, under environmental stresses. Transgenic Arabidopsis plants overexpressing W55a exhibited higher tolerance to drought. Based on these findings, W55a encodes a novel dehydration-responsive protein kinase that is involved in multiple stress signal transductions.

DNA Extraction from Formalin-fixed and Paraffin-embedded Tissues by Triton X-100 for Effective Amplification of EGFR Gene by Polymerase Chain Reaction

For first-line non-small-cell lung cancer（NSCLC） therapy,detecting mutation status of the epidermal growth factor receptor（EGFR） gene constitutes a prudent test to identify patients who are most likely to benefit from EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor（TKI） ***,the material for detecting EGFR gene mutation status mainly comes from formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded（FFPE） *** extraction from FFPE and the amplification of EGFR gene by polymerase chain reaction（PCR） are two key steps for detecting EGFR gene *** showed a simple method of DNA extraction from FFPE tissues for the effective amplification of EGFR *** DNA from the FFPE tissues of NSCLC patients with 1% Triton X-100（pH=10.0） was performed by heating at 95 °C for 30 ***,a commercial kit was used to extract DNA from the same FFPE tissues of NSCLC patients for *** extracted products were used as template for amplifying the exons 18,19,20 and 21 of EGFR by PCR for different amplified *** show that DNA fragment size extracted from FFPE tissues with 1% Triton X was about 250―500 base pairs（bp）.However,DNA fragment size extracted from FFPE tissues via commercial kit was about from several hundreds to several thousands *** DNA yield extracted from FFPE tissues with 1% Triton X was larger than that via commercial *** about 500 bp fragment,four exons of EGFR could not be amplified more efficiently from extracted DNA with 1% Triton X than with commercial ***,for about 200 bp *** simple and non-laborious protocol could successfully be used to extract DNA from FFPE tissue for the amplification of EGFR gene by PCR,further screening of EGFR gene mutation and facilitating the molecular analysis of a large number of FFPE tissues from NSCLC patients.

Effects of elevated CO2 and plant genotype on interactions among cotton, aphids and parasitoids

Effects of CO2 level （ambient vs. elevated） on the interactions among three cotton （Gossypium hirsutum） genotypes, the cotton aphid （Aphis gossypii Glover）, and its hymenoptera parasitoid （Lysiphlebiajaponica Ashrnead） were quantified. It was hypothesized that aphid-parasitoid interactions in crop systems may be altered by elevated CO2, and that the degree of change is influenced by plant genotype. The cotton genotypes had high （M9101）, medium （HZ401） and low （ZMS13） gossypol contents, and the response to elevated CO2 was genotype-specific. Elevated C02 increased the ratio of total non-structural carbohydrates to nitrogen （TNC ： N） in the high-gossypol genotype and the mediumgossypol genotype. For all three genotypes, elevated CO2 had no effect on concentrations of gossypol and condensed tannins. A. gossypii fitness declined when aphids were reared on the high-gossypol genotype versus the low-gossypol genotype under elevated CO2. Furthermore, elevated CO2 decreased the developmental time of L. japonica associated with the high-gossypol genotype and the low-gossypol genotype, but did not affect parasitism or emergence rates. Our study suggests that the abundance of A. gossypii on cotton will not be directly affected by increases in atmospheric CO2. We speculate that A. gossypii may diminish in pest status in elevated COz and high-gossypol genotype environments because of reduced fitness to the high-gossypol genotype and shorter developmental time of L. japonica.

Genetic Diversity of Soybean and the Establishment of a Core Collection Focused on Resistance to Soybean Cyst Nematode

Soybean cyst nematode （SCN; Heterodera glycines） Is one of the most Important pests affecting soybean production. The best method of control of SCN is through the development of resistant cultlvars. However, limited progress has been made in soybean breeding In China because most modern cultlvars have no resistance to SCN. The distribution and phenotype of 432 immune or highly resistant Chinese accessions were surveyed and a primary core collection was selected as a representative sample for further analyses. Using evenly distributed simple sequence repeat markers, five selection methods were applied to the primary core collection and the optimal method was chosen to establish a core collection, which consisted of 28 accessions. These encompassed 70.8% of the ailelic variation present in the overall resistant collection. The 28 accessions differed from the reference resistant accessions at the genomlc level, Indicating that Chinese resistant accessions are distinct from known resistant accessions. This applied core collection provides a rational framework for undertaking diversity surveys, using genetic variation for the investigation of complex traits and for the discovery of novel traits.

An efficient demodulation scheme for VLC signal image processing

With the development of visible light communication(VLC)and widespread applications of smart terminals with complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)image sensor,researchers pay more and more attention in VLC systems with CMOS-based *** blooming effect and light noise make the threshold decision in image processing difficult,which deteriorates the system performance a *** this paper,an efficient demodulation scheme is proposed to improve the performance of image *** the proposed demodulation scheme,a region of interest(ROI)based column matrix selection scheme is employed to avoid blooming effect,and an adaptive contrast enhancement(ACE)algorithm is designed to increase the contrast of bright and dark *** results show that the proposed scheme especially fits for high fluctuation data *** demodulation with a data rate of 5.76 kbit/s can successfully achieve 7%forward error correction(FEC)limit even when the illuminance is very low.

Beam optics study for energy selection system of SC200 superconducting proton cyclotron

To meet the demands on proton therapy in Russia and China, JINR and ASIPP have started to develop a proton therapy facility based on an isochronous superconducting proton accelerator. A 200 Me V/500 n A proton beam will be extracted from the SC200 superconducting proton cyclotron. Due to the energy of the cyclotron being fixed, an energy selection system(ESS) is employed to degrade such energy in order to match the particle energy to a shallower depth. In this article, calculation of beam optics, analysis of beam transmission, and correction of orbit distortion are presented. Studies show that the main factors influencing transmission efficiency of the SC200 ESS beamline are the degrader, collimator, slit, vacuum system, beam diagnostic system, and trajectory correction system. Through the beam optics study, the designed ESS beamline can provide 70–200 Me V proton beam to a treatment room, with a maximum emittance of24 p mm mrad. Also, the controllable momentum spread ranges from 0.1 to 1.0%, which is equivalent to an energy spread from 0.193 to 1.93%. The transmission efficiency about 0.204% can be obtained when the emittance is24 p mm mrad with an energy spread of ± 0.6%.
