Prophylactic effects of Edible Lilium-Egg yolk compound powder on depression-like behaviors in rats exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress: A role of gut-brain axis

The incidence rate and harmfulness of depression are increasing yearly， and the research on the antidepressant effect of regulating the intestinal microecology balance has attracted widespread attention. The purpose of this research was to study the preventive effects and the regulatory mechanism of edible Lilium-egg yolk compound powder(Chinese abbreviation， BHT) on gut-brain crosstalk in depressive rats induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS) through the "microbiota-gut-brain" axis. Results showed that infusion of BHT for 21 days ameliorated the morphology of the hippocampus and colon， increased the rate of sucrose preference， reduced the immobility time of forced swimming， increased the expression level of anti-inflammatory cytokine Interleukin-10 (IL-10) in serum， up-regulate the expression level of plasma neurotransmitter 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT)， down-regulate the expression of inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)， interleukin-6 (IL-6)， and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and neurotransmitter glutamic acid (Glu) in serum， and decrease the expression levels of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)， diamine oxidase (DAO) and lactate dehydrogenase (LD) in plasma. The underlying mechanism may be to reduce the activation of microglia (lower levels of CD11b， IBa1 protein and gene expression)， regulate hippocampal GR/BDNF/NPY signal pathway (higher levels of GR， BDNF， NPY protein and gene expression)， enhance intestinal mucosal barrier function (higher levels of ZO-1， Occludin protein and gene expression)， regulate the composition and structure of intestinal flora(Analysis results of LEfSe combined with random forest showed that Prevotella and Paraprevotella might be biomarkers of BHT intervention in depression)， and it is related to the improvement of glutathione metabolism， and other metabolic pathways. Microplastics(MPs)have become a significant concern for their potential ***,the correlation between the size of plastic particles and their toxicity remains ***,we investigate the toxic effects of different sizes(80 nm,800 nm,8μm and 80μm)polystyrene MPs(PS-MPs)on the model organism Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus).The results of bioluminescent imaging indicate that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to invade the body.H&E staining shows severe damage on the intestinal villi and distinct hepatic steatosis in the 80 nm *** U labeling shows that the proliferation activity of intestinal and liver cells reduces significantly in the 80 nm *** gut microbiome analysis shows a severe imbalance of gut microbiota homeostasis in the 80 nm *** analysis of liver transcriptomics and metabolomics shows that the liver lipid metabolism is disordered in the 80 nm *** conclusion,this study confirms that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to induce intestinal and liver *** the above lay the foundation for further study on the pathological damage of MPs to other organisms.

Are Solar Active Regions Born with Neutralized Currents?

Solar active regions(ARs) are formed by the emergence of current-carrying magnetic flux tubes from below the photosphere. Although for an isolated flux tube the direct and return currents flowing along the tube should balance with each other, it remains controversial whether such a neutralization of currents is also maintained during the emergence process. Here we present a systematic survey of the degrees of the current neutralization in a large sample of flux-emerging ARs which appeared on the solar disk around the central meridian from 2010 to *** vector magnetograms taken by Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager onboard Solar Dynamic Observatory are employed to calculate the distributions of the vertical current density at the photosphere. Focusing on the main phase of flux emergence, i.e., the phase in which the total unsigned magnetic flux is continuously increased, we statistically examined the ratios of direct to return currents in all the ARs. Such a large-sample statistical study suggests that most of the ARs were born with currents close to neutralization. The degree of current neutralization seems to be not affected by the active-region size, the active-region growing rate, and the total unsigned *** only correlation of significance as found is that the stronger the magnetic field nonpotentiality is, the further the AR deviates from current neutrality, which supports previous event studies that eruption-productive ARs often have non-neutralized currents.

Comparative analysis of DNA-SIP and magnetic-nanoparticle mediated isolation (MMI) on unraveling dimethoate degraders

Microorganisms are crucial in the bioremediation of organophosphorus pesticides. However, most functional microorganisms (> 99%) are yet to be cultivated. This study applied two cultivation-independent approaches, DNA-SIP and magnetic-nanoparticle mediated isolation (MMI), to identify the functional microorganisms in degrading dimethoate in agricultural soils. MMI identified five dimethoate degraders: Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Ramlibacter, Arthrobacter, and Rhodococcus, whereas DNA-SIP identified three dimethoate degraders: Ramlibacter, Arthrobacter, and Rhodococcus. Also, MMI showed higher resolution than DNA-SIP in identifying functional microorganisms. Two organic phosphohydrolase (OPH) genes: ophC2 and ophB, were involved in dimethoate metabolism, as revealed by DNA-SIP and MMI. The degradation products of dimethoate include omethoate, O,O,S-trimethyl thiophosphorothioate, N-methyl-2-sulfanylacetamide, O,O-diethyl S-hydrogen phosphorodithioate, O,O,O-trimethyl thiophosphate, O,O,S-trimethyl thiophosphorodithioate, and O,O,O-trimethyl phosphoric. This study emphasizes the feasibility of using SIP and MMI to explore the functional dimethoate degraders, expanding our knowledge of microbial resources with cultivation-independent approaches.

For a 2-station and 3-class reentrant line under first-buffer first-served(FBFS)service discipline in light traffic,we firstly construct the strong approximations for performance measures including the queue length,workload,busy time and idle time *** on the obtained strong approximations,we use a strong approximation method to find all the law of the iterated logarithms(LILs)for the above four performance measures,which are expressed as some functions of system parameters:means and variances of interarrival and service times,and characterize the fluctuations around their fluid approximations.

Soft electrochemical actuators that can generate mechanical motions in response to electrical stimuli can be used as artificial muscles in microscale *** electrode materials are the key component of the electrochemical actuator because they limit the ion diffusion and accumulation processes and thus affect the deformation in fast response-time and potential engineering ***-dimensional materials,such as one-dimensional(1D)CNT and two-dimensional(2D)vertically stood WS_(2),are great electrode due to their good electrochemical stability and high surface-to-volume ratios,but show limited performances when being used on their own in the actuators because of low reconstruction or low conductivity.A combination of 1D CNT and 2D WS_(2)could form a heterojunction with both high electrochemical activity and great mechanical ***,by depositing highly disordered graphene nanosheets(HDGNs)on CNT films and then WS_(2)on the formed low-dimensional nanocarbon film,a hybrid WS_(2)/HDGN/CNT film was synthesized through a multistep CVD *** grown WS_(2)nanosheets were achieved by taking advantage of HDGNs which limits CNTs ***,the volume expansion caused by the transition from WO_(3)to WS-2can force the vertical growth of WS_(2).This hybrid film shows excellent electrochemical properties,such as high specific capacitance and high rate *** actuators based on the WS_(2)/HDGN/CNT films show good actuating performance,including stability and reconfigurability.

Drug-Target Interactions Prediction Based on Signed Heterogeneous Graph Neural Networks

Drug-target interactions(DTIs) prediction plays an important role in the process of drug *** computational methods treat it as a binary prediction problem, determining whether there are connections between drugs and targets while ignoring relational types information. Considering the positive or negative effects of DTIs will facilitate the study on comprehensive mechanisms of multiple drugs on a common target, in this work, we model DTIs on signed heterogeneous networks, through categorizing interaction patterns of DTIs and additionally extracting interactions within drug pairs and target protein pairs. We propose signed heterogeneous graph neural networks(SHGNNs), further put forward an end-to-end framework for signed DTIs prediction, called SHGNN-DTI,which not only adapts to signed bipartite networks, but also could naturally incorporate auxiliary information from drug-drug interactions(DDIs) and protein-protein interactions(PPIs). For the framework, we solve the message passing and aggregation problem on signed DTI networks, and consider different training modes on the whole networks consisting of DTIs, DDIs and PPIs. Experiments are conducted on two datasets extracted from Drug Bank and related databases, under different settings of initial inputs, embedding dimensions and training modes. The prediction results show excellent performance in terms of metric indicators, and the feasibility is further verified by the case study with two drugs on breast cancer.

Assessment of Wet Season Precipitation in the Central United States by the Regional Climate Simulation of the WRFG Member in NARCCAP and Its Relationship with Large-Scale Circulation Biases

Assessment of past-climate simulations of regional climate models(RCMs)is important for understanding the reliability of RCMs when used to project future regional ***,we assess the performance and discuss possible causes of biases in a WRF-based RCM with a grid spacing of 50 km,named WRFG,from the North American Regional Climate Change Assessment Program(NARCCAP)in simulating wet season precipitation over the Central United States for a period when observational data are *** RCM reproduces key features of the precipitation distribution characteristics during late spring to early summer,although it tends to underestimate the magnitude of *** dry bias is partially due to the model’s lack of skill in simulating nocturnal precipitation related to the lack of eastward propagating convective systems in the *** in reproducing large-scale circulation and environmental conditions is another contributing *** too weak simulated pressure gradient between the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf of Mexico results in weaker southerly winds in between,leading to a reduction of warm moist air transport from the Gulf to the Central Great *** simulated low-level horizontal convergence fields are less favorable for upward motion than in the NARR and hence,for the development of moist convection as ***,a careful examination of an RCM’s deficiencies and the identification of the source of errors are important when using the RCM to project precipitation changes in future climate scenarios.
