Clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of patients receiving contemporary intensive cardiac care:retrospective study from a large centre in China

Oxidation behavior of in-situ Al_2O_3/TiAl composites at 900°C in static air

In-situ Al2O3/TiAl composites were successfully synthesized from the starting powders of Ti, Al, TiO2 and Nb2O5. The oxidation behavior of the composites at 900℃ in static air was investigated. The results indicate that the composite samples present a much lower oxidation mass gain. Under long-time intensive oxidation exposure, the formed oxide scale is multi-layer. The formation of the outer TiO2 layer is fine and dense, the internal Al2O3 scale has good adhesiveness with the outer TiO2 scale, and the TiO2＋Al2O3 mixed layer forming the protective oxide scale is favorable for the improvement of oxidation resistance. It is believed that the incorporation of Al2O3 particulates into the metal matrix decreases the coefficient of thermal expansion of the substrate, and forms a local three-dimensional network structure that can hold the oxide scale. The formation of the oxide scale with finer particle size, stronger adherence, less micro-defects and slower growth rate can contribute to the improvement of oxidation resistance. Nb element plays an important role in reducing the internal oxidation action of the materials, restraining the growth of TiO2 crystals and promoting the stable formation of the Al2O3-riched layer, which is beneficial to improve the oxidation properties.

Grating lobes suppression method for stepped frequency GB-SAR system

A grating lobes suppression method for chirp-subpulse stepped frequency（CSSF） signals is proposed, which is applied to deformation monitoring using the ground based synthetic aperture radar（GB-SAR） system. This method is based on accurate estimation and correction of the phase and amplitude error along two dimensions（range and azimuth）, i.e., the error estimation inside the subpulse（in-subpulse error） and across the stepped frequency subpulses（cross-subpulse error） of transmitted CSSF signals. Validated both with simulated data and experimental data recorded in the deformation monitoring campaign, it can be seen that the method as well as the relative conclusions can be fully and effectively applied to most of the stepped frequency systems.

Interactions Between Surface Reactions and Gas-phase Reactions in Catalytic Combustion and Their Influence on Ignition of HCCI Engine

The catalytic combustion of methane in a mierochannel whose surface was coated with platinum（Pt） catalyst was studied by numerical-simulation. The effects of gas-phase reactions on the whole catalytic combustion process were analyzed at a high inlet pressure. A sensitivity analysis of the detailed mechanisms of the surface reaction of methane on Pt revealed that the most sensitive reactions affecting the heterogeneous ignition are oxygen adsorption/desorption and methane adsorption, and the most sensitive reactions affecting the homogeneous ignition are OH and H2O adsorption/desorption. The combustion process of the homogeneous charge compression ignition（HCCI） engine whose piston face was coated with Pt catalyst was simulated. The effects of catalysis and the most sensitive reactions on the ignition timing and the concentration of the main intermediate species during the HCCI engine combustion are discussed. The results show that the ignition timing of the HCCI engine can be increased by catalysis, and the most sensitive reactions affecting the ignition timing of the HCCI engine are OH and H2O adsorption/desorption.

GIS-based evaluation of landslide susceptibility using a novel hybrid computational intelligence model on different mapping units

Landslide susceptibility mapping is significant for landslide *** approaches have been used for landslide susceptibility prediction,however,their performances are *** study constructed a hybrid model,namely box counting dimension-based kernel logistic regression model,which uses fractal dimension calculated by box counting method as input data based on grid cells mapping unit and terrain mapping *** performance of this model was evaluated in the application in Zhidan County,Shaanxi Province,***,a total of 221 landslides were identified and mapped,and 11 landslide predisposing factors were ***,the landslide susceptibility maps(LSMs) of the study area were obtained by constructing the model on two different mapping ***,the results were evaluated with five statistical indexes,sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value(PPV),negative predictive value(NPV) and *** statistical indexes of the model obtained on the terrain mapping unit were larger than those based on grid cells mapping *** training and validation datasets,the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC) of the model based on terrain mapping unit were 0.9374 and 0.9527,respectively,indicating that establishing this model on the terrain mapping unit was advantageous in the study *** results show that the fractal dimension improves the prediction ability of the kernel logistic *** addition,the terrain mapping unit is a more promising mapping unit in Loess areas.

Environmental influence of Wuhan urban agglomeration development and strategies of environmental protection

In Wuhan urban agglomeration （WUA）, the population growth and concentration, the industrial development and urban sprawl have been affecting the environment ftmdamentally. Comparing with Yangtze delta metropolitan region, the level of urbanization and industrialization of WUA has lagged behind for about 10 years; but the problems in environmental protection and rehabilitation are commonly serious. In the future, WUA should avoid unnecessary mistakes and seek a win-win strategy for economy and environment in its large-scale development stage. Based on the analysis of the changing of main environmental pollutants and the coupled curves in past decades, the paper discussed the important links among the urban environmental pollutions, industry growth and urban sprawl in WUA. It is concluded that the integration of economic and environmental policies in urban development is more required and significant at the large urban agglomeration region. Four proactive and long-term strategies need to be adopted to provide prior guidance and better protection for the development of WUA.

Effect of specimen size on energy dissipation characteristics of red sandstone under high strain rate

In this experiment, red sandstone specimens, having slenderness ratios of 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 and 1.1 respectively, were subjected to blow tests using a Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB) system at a pressure of 0.4 atmospheres. In this paper, we have analyzed the effect of slenderness ratio on the mechanical properties and energy dissipation characteristics of red sandstone under high strain rates. The processes of compaction, elastic deformation and stress softening deformation of specimens contract with an increase in slenderness ratio, whilst the nonlinear deformation process extends correspondingly. In addition, degrees of damage of specimens reduced gradually and the type of destruction showed a transformation trend from stretching failure towards shear failure when the slenderness ratio increased. A model of dynamic damage evolution in red sandstone was established and the parameters of the constitutive model at different ratios of length to diameter were determined. By comparison with the experimental curve, the accuracy of the model, which could reflect the stress–strain dynamic characteristics of red sandstone, was verified. From the view of energy dissipation, an increase in slenderness ratio of a specimen decreased the proportion of energy dissipation and caused a gradual fall in the capability of energy dissipation during the specimen failure process. To some extent, the study indicated the effects of slenderness ratios on the mechanical properties and energy dissipation characteristics of red sandstone under the high strain rate, which provides valuable references to related engineering designs and academic researches.

Hydraulic resistance of river ice jams

The hydraulic resistance of the river ice jams consists of the resistances due to the seepage flow through the jam and the shear stress on the undersurface of the jam. Existing empirical formulations consider only the the undersurface resistance of the jam, and come up with relations between the jam resistance and the jam thickness with very slight theoretical basis. Based on the analysis of the seepage flow resistance and the flow resistance of the undersurface of the jam, it is shown that the resistance due to the seepage flow is a dominating part of the jam resistance, except for the portion of the jam where the thickness is very small. This analysis also shows that the total jam resistance can be approximated by a linear function of the jam thickness or the ratio of the jam thickness to the flow depth under the jam.

In this paper,a heterojunction of hierarchically one-dimensional(1D)cadmium sulfide(CdS)nanowires decorated on the two-dimensional(2D) La_(2)Ti_(2)O_(7) (LTO)has been fabricated by a simple two-step hydrothermal *** structure,morphology and surface chemical composition of CdS/LTO were studied by a variety of characterizations,in which the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results showed a strong interaction between CdS and LTO through S-O *** typeⅡband alignment of CdS/LTO for favorable electron transfer from CdS to LTO and hole transfer from LTO to CdS was clarified by ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and Mott-Schottky(M-S)plot *** the absence of any co-catalyst,H2 production from water splitting and Rhodamine B(RhB)decomposition in aqueous solution were carried out to evaluate the photocatalytic activities,showing that the photocatalytic performance of CdS/LTO was superior to that of pure LTO and CdS under visible light and simulated *** optimal CdS content in the CdS/LTO system was determined to be 7.5 wt%.The present results show an effective pathway to design a 1D/2D heterojunction photocatalyst in the face of overwhelming problems of energy crisis and environmental pollution.

Experimental validation of a signal-based approach for structural earthquake damage detection using fractal dimension of time frequency feature

This article extends a signal-based approach formerly proposed by the authors, which utilizes the fractal dimension of time frequency feature （FDTFF） of displacements, for earthquake damage detection of moment resist frame （MRF）, and validates the approach with shaking table tests. The time frequency feature （TFF） of the relative displacement at measured story is defined as the real part of the coefficients of the analytical wavelet transform. The fractal dimension （FD） is to quantify the TFF within the fundamental frequency band using box counting method. It is verified that the FDTFFs at all stories of the linear MRF are identical with the help of static condensation method and modal superposition principle, while the FDTFFs at the stories with localized nonlinearities due to damage will be different from those at the stories without nonlinearities using the reverse-path methodology. By comparing the FDTFFs of displacements at measured stories in a structure, the damage-induced nonlinearity of the structure under strong ground motion can be detected and localized. Finally shaking table experiments on a 1：8 scale sixteen-story three-bay steel MRF with added frictional dampers, which generate local nonlinearities, are conducted to validate the approach.
