According to the fractal characteristics appearing in non-uniform granular system, we found the fractal model to study the effective thermal conductivity in the mixed system. Considering the quasi-equilibrium, we bring forward the fractal velocity probability distribution function. The equipartition of energy is employed to the non-uniform granular system, and the granular temperature is derived. We investigate the thermal conductivity in granular flow due to the movement of the particles, namely the heat transfer induced by the streaming mode only. The thermal conductivity in the mixed system changes with the fractal parameters such as the solid fraction v, structural character parameter η, and fractal dimension D of size distribution. These parameters depict the characteristics of the thermal conductivity in the actual complex granular system. Comparing our conclusion with the correlative experimental data and the theoretical conclusion of binary mixture of granular materials, the results can qualitatively confirm the generality of our prediction on the granular system.

Rabies is a zoonotic disease that still causes 59,000 human deaths each year,and rabies vaccine is the most effective way to control the *** previous studies suggested that the maturation of DC plays an important role in enhancing the immunogenicity of rabies ***3L has been reported to own the ability to accelerate the DC maturation,therefore,in this study,a recombinant rabies virus expressing mouse Flt3L,designated as LBNSE-Flt3L,was constructed,and its immunogenicity was *** was found that LBNSE-FU3L could enhance the maturation of DC both in vitro and in vivo,and significantly more TFH cells and Germinal Center B(GC B)cells were generated in mice immunized with LBNSE-FU3L than those immunized with the parent virus ***,expressing of Flt3L could elevate the level of virus-neutralizing antibodies(VNA)in immunized mice which provides a better protection from a lethal rabies virus *** together,our study extends the potential of Flt3L as a good adjuvant to develop novel rabies vaccine by enhancing the VNA production through activating the DC—Tfh^GC B axis in immunized mice.

An enriched environment protects dopaminergic neurons from 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine（MPTP）-induced neuronal injury, but the underlying mechanism for this is not clear. Growth associated protein-43（GAP-43） is closely associated with neurite outgrowth and axon regeneration during neural development. We speculate that an enriched environment can reduce damage to dopaminergic neurons by affecting the expression of GAP-43. This study is designed to test this hypothesis. Three-month-old female senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8（SAMP8） mice were housed for 3 months in an enriched environment or a standard environment. These mice were then subcutaneously injected in the abdomen with 14 mg/kg MPTP four times at 2-hour intervals. Morris water maze testing demonstrated that learning and memory abilities were better in the enriched environment group than in the standard environment group. Reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction, immunohistochemistry and western blot assays showed that m RNA and protein levels of GAP-43 in the substantia nigra were higher after MPTP application in the enriched environment group compared with the standard environment group. These findings indicate that an enriched environment can increase GAP-43 expression in SAMP8 mice. The upregulation of GAP-43 may be a mechanism by which an enriched environment protects against MPTP-induced neuronal damage.

In this study,we examine the dynamics and microphysical structures of a deep compact thunderstorm event driving cloud-to-ground(CG)lightning over the Nanjing area located within the yangtze-Huai River Basin(YHRB)during the monsoon break *** microphysical structures combined with the dynamics in the glaciated,mixed-phase,and warm-phase layers during the formative,intensifying,and mature stages of the thunderstorm were first investigated using C-band polarimetric radar and CG lightning *** results show that the mature phase of the thunderstorm produced a local cold pool,which collided with a southerly warm wind,resulting in a strong *** strong updraft favored the lifting of raindrops to the mixed-phase region to form abundant supercooled liquid water and *** the formative stage to the developing stage and further to the mature stage,increased ZH-and reduced ZDR-values within the mixed-phase region are found,especially within the strong updraft region(>5 m s^(-1)).This phenomenon suggests that supercooled raindrops evolved into large hydrometeors(graupel and hail),indicative of a strong riming *** signatures within this region are consistent with a favorable environment for thunderstorm electrification and generate the most frequent lightning during the thunderstorm life cycle.

Combining Spectral with Texture Features into Objectoriented Classification in Mountainous Terrain Using Advanced Land Observing Satellite Image

Most existing classification studies use spectral information and those were adequate for cities or plains. This paper explores classification method suitable for the ALOS （Advanced Land Observing Satellite） in mountainous terrain. Mountainous terrain mapping using ALOS image faces numerous challenges. These include spectral confusion with other land cover features, topographic effects on spectral signatures （such as shadow）. At first, topographic radiometric correction was carried out to remove the illumination effects of topography. In addition to spectral features, texture features were used to assist classification in this paper. And texture features extracted based on GLCM （Gray Level Co- occurrence Matrix） were not only used for segmentation, but also used for building rules. The performance of the method was evaluated and compared with Maximum Likelihood Classification （MLC）. Results showed that the object-oriented method integrating spectral and texture features has achieved overall accuracy of 85.73% with a kappa coefficient of 0.824, which is 13.48% and o.145 respectively higher than that got by MLC method. It indicated that texture features can significantly improve overall accuracy, kappa coefficient, and the classification precision of existing spectrum confusion features. Object-oriented method Integrating spectral and texture features is suitable for land use extraction of ALOS image in mountainous terrain.

Based on data of 22 models from the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project Phase 5(CMIP5),the performance of climate simulation is assessed and future changes under RCP2.6,RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 are projected over critical Belt and Road *** with observations,the CMIP5 models simulate the linear trend and spatial distribution of the annual mean surface air temperature(SAT)better in the north(NBR)and south(SBR)of the Belt and Road *** trend of the 22-model ensemble mean(CMIP5 MME)is 0.70/0.50 C per 100 years from 1901 to 2005,and the observed trend is 1.11/0.77 C per 100 years in the NBR/SBR *** 1971,the relative error between CMIP5 MME and observations is 22%/15%in the NBR/SBR ***/nine models are selected in the NBR/SBR to project future SAT changes under three RCP *** 2081e2100,warming in the NBR/SBR is projected to be(1.16±0.29)/(0.72±0.32)C,(2.41±0.54)/(1.55±0.44)C,and(5.23±1.02)/(3.33±0.65)C for RCP2.6,RCP4.5,and RCP8.5,*** the RCP scenarios,the NBR region shows greater warming than the SBR *** most significant warming is expected in Kazakhstan and the northern part of the *** associated uncertainty generally increases with time under the three RCP ***,increases in warming over the Belt and Road region are more remarkable under higher-emission scenarios than lower-emission ones.

Pitting corrosion resistance of a novel duplex alloy steel in alkali-activated slag extract in the presence of chloride ions

In this study, two types of reinforcing steels(conventional low-carbon steel and a novel duplex alloy steel with Cr and Mo) were exposed to chloride-contaminated extract solutions(ordinary Portland cement(OPC) extract and alkali-activated slag(AAS) extract) to investigate their pitting corrosion resistance. The results confirm that the pitting corrosion resistance of the alloy steel is much higher than that of the low-carbon steel in both extract solutions with various Na Cl concentrations. Moreover, for each type of steel, the AAS extract contributes to a higher pitting corrosion resistance compared with the OPC extract in the presence of chloride ions, likely because of the formation of flocculent precipitates on the steel surface.
