Focal mechanics and disaster characteristics of the 2024 M 7.6 Noto Peninsula Earthquake,Japan

On January 1,2024,a devastating M 7.6 earthquake struck the Noto Peninsula,Ishikawa Prefecture,Japan,resulting in significant casualties and property *** information from the first six days after the earthquake,this article analyzes the seismic source characteristics,disaster situation,and emergency response of this *** results show:1)The earthquake rupture was of the thrust type,with aftershock distribution showing a north-east-oriented belt-like feature of 150 km.2)Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)and Interferometric synthetic aperture radar(InSAR),observations detected significant westward to north-westward co-seismic displacement near the epicenter,with the maximum horizontal displacement reaching 1.2 m and the vertical uplift displacement reaching 4 m.A two-segment fault inversion model fits the observational data well.3)Near the epicenter,large Peak Ground Velocity(PGV)and Peak Ground Acceleration(PGA)were observed,with the maxima reaching 145 cm/s and 2681 gal,respectively,and the intensity reached the highest level 7 on the Japanese(Japan Meteorological Agency,JMA)intensity standard,which is higher than level 10 of the United States Geological Survey(USGS)Modified Mercalli Intensity(MMI)standard.4)The observation of the very rare multiple strong pulse-like ground motion(PLGM)waveform poses a topic worthy of research in the field of earthquake engineering.5)As of January 7,the earthquake had left 128 deaths and 560 injuries in Ishikawa Prefecture,with 1305 buildings completely or partially destroyed,and had triggered a chain of disasters including tsunamis,fires,slope failures,and road ***,this paper summarizes the emergency rescue,information dissemination,and other disaster response and management measures taken in response to this *** work provides a reference case for carrying out effective responses,and offers lessons for handling similar events in the future.

No relationship between mode of delivery and neonatal mortality and neurodevelopment in very low birth weight infants aged two years

Background:To compare neonatal mortality and neurodevelopmental outcomes at two years of age in very low birth weight infants(≤1500 g)born by cesarean with those by vaginal ***:In this retrospective,case-control study,we evaluated neonatal mortality,medical conditions and neurodevelopmental outcomes at two years of corrected age in 710 very low birth weight(VLBW)infants born between January 2005 and December *** the 710 infants,351 were born by the cesarean and 359/710 by vaginal ***:There were no significant differences in neonatal mortality between the cesarean delivery group and vaginal delivery group[56/351(15.9%)vs.71/359(19.8%),P=0.20].VLBW infants delivered by the cesarean procedure had a higher incidence of respiratory distress syndrome than those born by the vaginal route[221/351(63.0%)vs.178/359(49.6%),P<0.001].There were no differences in other neonatal morbidities,including intraventricular hemorrhage[126/351(35.9%)vs.134/359(37.3%),P=0.69],bronchopulmonary dysplasia[39/351(11%)vs.31/359(8.6%),P=0.38]and necrotising enterocolitis[40/351(11.4%)vs.32/359(8.9%),P=0.32]between the two *** incidence of poor neurodevelopment after cesarean delivery was similar to that after vaginal delivery[105/351(29.9)vs.104/359(29.0%),P=0.78].Conclusions:In neither neurodevelopment nor neonatal mortality did cesarean birth offered significant advantages to VLBW ***,the operation might be associated with an increased risk of respiratory distress syndrome for VLBW *** mode of delivery of VLBW infants should be largely based on obstetric indications and maternal considerations rather than perceived better outcomes for the neonate.

A novel dandelion-based bionic proppant and its transportation mechanism in different types of fractures

Low-permeability reservoirs are generally characterized by low porosity and low permeability. Obtaining high production using the traditional method is technologically challenging because it yields a low reservoir recovery factor. In recent years, hydraulic fracturing technology is widely applied for efficiently exploiting and developing low-permeability reservoirs using a low-viscosity fluid as a fracturing ***, the transportation of the proppant is inefficient in the low-viscosity fluid, and the proppant has a low piling-up height in fracture channels. These key challenges restrict the fluid(natural gas or oil) flow in fracture channels and their functional flow areas, reducing the profits of hydrocarbon *** study aimed to explore and develop a novel dandelion-bionic proppant by modifying the surface of the proppant and the fiber. Its structure was similar to that of dandelion seeds, and it had high transport and stacking efficiency in low-viscosity liquids compared with the traditional ***, the transportation efficiency of this newly developed proppant was investigated experimentally using six different types of fracture models(tortuous fracture model, rough fracture model,narrow fracture model, complex fracture model, large-scale single fracture model, and small-scale single fracture model). Experimental results indicated that, compared with the traditional proppant, the transportation efficiency and the packing area of the dandelion-based bionic proppant significantly improved in tap water or low-viscosity fluid. Compared with the traditional proppant, the dandelionbased bionic proppant had 0.1-4 times longer transportation length, 0.3-5 times higher piling-up height, and 2-10 times larger placement area. Expression and purification of bioactive high-purity human midkine in Escherichia coli

Midkine is a heparin-binding growth factor, which plays important roles in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. The non-tagged recombinant human midkine （rhMK） is therefore required to facilitate its functional studies of this important growth factor. In the present work, rhMK was expressed in Escherichia coli （E. coli） BL21 （DE3）. The expression of midkine was efficiently induced by isopropyl-13-D-thiogalactopyranoside （IPTG）. After sonication, midkine was recovered in an insoluble form, and was dissolved in guanidine hydrochloride buffer. Renaturation of the denatured protein was carried out in the defined protein refolding buffer, and the refolded protein was purified using S-Sepharose ion-exchange chromatography. The final preparation of the rhMK was greater than 98% pure as measured by sodium dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamid gel electrophoresis （SDS-PAGE） and reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography （RP-HPLC）. The purified rhMK enhanced the proliferation of NIH3T3 cells.

Development of component stiffness equations for thread-fixed one-side bolt connections to an enclosed rectangular hollow section column under tension

Reinforcement corrosion is the main cause of performance deterioration of reinforced concrete(RC)*** research has been performed to investigate the life-cycle cost(LCC)of coastal bridge piers with nonuniform corrosion using different *** this study,a reliability-based design optimization(RBDO)procedure is improved for the design of coastal bridge piers using six groups of commonly used materials,i.e.,normal performance concrete(NPC)with black steel(BS)rebar,high strength steel(HSS)rebar,epoxy coated(EC)rebar,and stainless steel(SS)rebar(named NPC-BS,NPC-HSS,NPC-EC,and NPC-SS,respectively),NPC with BS with silane soakage on the pier surface(named NPC-Silane),and high-performance concrete(HPC)with BS rebar(named HPC-BS).First,the RBDO procedure is improved for the design optimization of coastal bridge piers,and a bridge is selected to illustrate the ***,reliability analysis of the pier designed with each group of materials is carried out to obtain the time-dependent reliability in terms of the ultimate and serviceability ***,the repair time of the pier is predicted based on the time-dependent reliability ***,the time-dependent LCCs for the pier are obtained for the selection of the optimal design.

Effect of cardiac rehabilitation care after coronary intervention on cardiac function recovery and negative mood in patients with myocardial infarction

BACKGROUND Cardiovascular disease,particularly myocardial infarction(MI)profound impact on patients'quality of life and places a substantial burden on the healthcare and economy *** in medical technology have led to the emer-gence of coronary intervention as an essential method for treating *** To assess the effects of cardiac rehabilitation care on cardiac function recovery and negative emotions in MI after coronary *** This study included a total of 180 patients with MI during the period from June 2022 to July *** patients were divided into two groups:An observation group,which receiving cardiac rehabilitation care;a control group,which re-ceiving conventional *** comparing multiple observation indicators such as cardiac function indicators,blood pressure,exercise tolerance,occurrence of adverse cardiac events,and negative emotion scores between the two groups of *** the data were analyzed and compared between two *** There were 44 males and 46 females in the observation group with an average age of 36.26±9.88 yr;there were 43 males and 47 females in the control group,with an average age of 40.87±10.5 *** receiving the appropriate postoperative nursing measures,the results of the observation group showed significant improvement in several indicators compared with the control *** of cardiac function,such as left ventricular end-diastolic internal diameter and left ventricular ejection fraction were significantly better in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).Exercise endurance assessment showed that the 6-minute walking test distance was significantly increased in the patients of the observation group(P<0.01).In addition,the incidence of adverse cardiac events was significantly lower in the observation group,and negative mood scores were significantly reduced(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Cardiac rehabilitation care after coronary intervention has a significant positive
