A one-dimensional sand-pile model (Manna model), which has a stochastic redistribution process, is studied both in discrete and continuous manners. The system evolves into a critical state after a transient period. A detailed analysis of the probability distribution of the avalanche size and duration is numerically investigated. Interestingly,contrary to the deterministic one-dimensional sand-pile model, where multifractal analysis works well, the analysis based on simple finite-size scaling is suited to fitting the data on the distribution of the avalanche size and duration. The exponents characterizing these probability distributions are measured. Scaling relations of these scaling exponents and their universality class are discussed.

Nanohybrids were formed from 3-mercaptopropionic acid （MPA）-coated Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots （QDs） and methylene blue （MB） via electrostatic interaction, and then used in the detection of trace DNA. The principle of detection is as follows： MB binds with Mn-doped ZnS QDs via electrostatic interaction, and then quenches the room temperature phosphorescence （RTP） of the QDs through photoinduced electron-transfer （PIET）. After the addition of DNA, MB binds with DNA through intercalation and electrostatic interaction, and desorbs from the surfaces of Mn-doped ZnS QDs, which recovers the RTP of the QDs. On this basis, a DNA detection method based on the properties of RTP was set up. This method shows a detection range of 0.2-20 mg/L, and a detection limit of 0.113 mg/L. Since this method is based on the RTP of QDs, it is not interfered by the background fluorescence or scattering light in vivo, and thus, avoids complex sample pretreatment. Thus, this method is very feasible for detection of trace DNA in biofluids.

This study was carried out to determine the effect of replacement of forage fiber sources from alfalfa and Leymus chinensis with nonforage fiber sources（NFFS） from dried distillers grains with solubles and corn germ meal on calves growth, rumen development and blood parameters. 48 female and 12 male calves（（110.55±15.36） kg of body weight and 12 wk of age） were assigned randomly to four dietary treatments（15 calves/treatment） in a completely randomized design. Experimental diets were： 0% NFFS（control）, 9% NFFS（group 1）, 18% NFFS（group 2）, 27% NFFS（group 3）, and contained equivalent neutral detergent fiber and total digestible nutrients, respectively. The dry matter intake was similar among diets, averaging 3.33 kg d-1, and no differences were detected for body weight, withers height, body length and heart girth. In addition, the development of rumen, reticulum, omasum and abomasum also were similar among diets. Dry matter, crude protein, and neutral detergent fiber digestibilities increased with the increasing levels of NFFS in the experimental diets, but had no significant effect. Blood urea nitrogen, total protein and glubulin were not affected by the dietary treatment, but group 3 resulted in the highest（P〈0.05） concentrations of glucose and the lowest（P〈0.05） concentrations of triglycerides and albumin. In conclusion, dried distillers grains with solubles（DDGS） and corn germ meal（CGM） were available and alternative fiber sources for Holstein calf diets.

Background Previous prediction algorithms for cardiovascular diseases(CVD)were established using risk factors retrieved largely based on empirical clinical *** study sought to identify predictors among a comprehensive variable space,and then employ machine learning(ML)algorithms to develop a novel CVD risk prediction *** From a longitudinal population-based cohort of UK Biobank,this study included 473611 CVD-free participants aged between 37 and 73 years *** implemented an ML-based data-driven pipeline to identify predictors from 645 candidate variables covering a comprehensive range of health-related factors and assessed multiple ML classifiers to establish a risk prediction model on 10-year incident *** model was validated through a leave-one center-out *** During a median follow-up of 12.2 years,31466 participants developed CVD within 10 years after baseline visits.A novel UK Biobank CVD risk prediction(UKCRP)model was established that comprised 10 predictors including age,sex,medication of cholesterol and blood pressure,cholesterol ratio(total/high-density lipoprotein),systolic blood pressure,previous angina or heart disease,number of medications taken,cystatin C,chest pain and pack-years of *** model obtained satisfied discriminative performance with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)of 0.762±0.010 that outperformed multiple existing clinical models,and it was well-calibrated with a Brier Score of 0.057±***,the UKCRP can obtain comparable performance for myocardial infarction(AUC 0.774±0.011)and ischaemic stroke(AUC 0.730±0.020),but inferior performance for haemorrhagic stroke(AUC 0.644±0.026).Conclusion ML-based classification models can learn expressive representations from potential high-risked CVD participants who may benefit from earlier clinical decisions.

Dimensional regulation in polyoxometalates is an effective strategy during the design and synthesis of polyoxometalates-based high proton conductors,but it is not available to ***,the precise regulation of dimensionality has been realized in an unprecedented gigantic molybdenum blue wheel family featuring pentagonal{(W)Mo5}motifs through optimizing the molar ratio of Mo/W,including[Gd_(2)Mo_(124)W_(14)O_(422)(H_(2)O)62]38-(0D-{Mo_(124)W_(14)},1),[Mo_(126)W_(14)O441(H_(2)O)51]^(70-)(1D-{Mo_(126)W_(14)}n,2),and[Mo_(124)W_(14)O_(430)(H_(2)O)50]60-(2D-{Mo_(124)W_(14)}n,3).Such important{(W)Mo5}structural motif brings new reactivity into gigantic Mo blue *** are different numbers and sites of{Mo2}defects in each wheel-shaped monomer in 1-3,which leads to the monomers of 2 and 3 to form 1D and 2D architectures via Mo-O-Mo covalent bonds driven by{Mo2}-mediated H_(2)O ligands substitution process,respectively,thus achieving the controllable dimensional *** expected,the proton conductivity of 3 is 10 times higher than that of 1 and 1.7 times higher than that of *** continuous proton hopping sites in 2D network are responsible for the enhanced proton conductivity with lower activation *** study highlights that this dimensional regulation approach remains great potential in preparing polyoxometalates-based high proton conductive materials.

Lithium metal anode is considered the alternative to graphite anode due to its ultra-high theoretical capacity of 3860 mAh·g^(-1).However,serious Li dendrite growth and drastic electrolyte side reactions restrain the commercial application of Li metal *** this work,a Li_(3)Bi/LiF interfacial layer is constructed on the surface of the Li metal anode by a spontaneous substitution *** composite interfacial layer possesses excellent ionic conductivity,high mechanical strength,and great electrolyte wettability,which ensures fast Li-ion transfer and uniform Li deposition of the Li_(3)Bi/LiF@Li ***,the Li_3Bi/LiF@Li symmetric cell provides a cycle life of more than 400 h with only 73 mV voltage polarization at 10 mA·cm^(-2).By pairing with commercial NCM622 cathode,the Li_(3)Bi/LiF@Li full cell exhibits a long cycle at a rate of 2 C.

Cucumber is an important vegetable crop and a model crop for the study of sex expression in plants. However, the genomic resources and tools for functional genomics studies in cucumber are still limited. In this paper, we conducted ethyl methyl sulfone（EMS） mutagenesis in the northern China ecotype cucumber inbred line 406 to construct a mutant library. We optimized the conditions of EMS mutagenesis on inbred line 406 which included treatment of seeds at 1.5% EMS for 12h. We obtained a number of mutant lines showing inheritable morphological changes in plant architecture, leaves, floral organs, fruits and other traits through M1, M2 and M3 generations. The F2 segregating populations were constructed and *** found that a short fruit mutant and a yellow-green fruit peel mutant were both under the control of a single recessive gene, respectively. These results provide valuable germplasm resources for the improvement of cucumber genetics and functional genomic research.

AIM： To investigate the effects of Tat-NEMO-binding domain （NBD） peptide on taurocholate-induced pancreatitis and lipopolysaccharide （LPS）-stimulated AR42J acinus ceils inflammatory response in rats. METHODS： Sodium taurocholate （5%） was used to induce the pancreatitis model. Forty-eight rats from the taurocholate group received an intravenous bolus of 13 mg/kg Tat-NBD （wild-type, WT） peptide, Tat- NBD （mutant-type, MT） peptide, NBD peptide or Tat peptide. The pancreatic histopathology was analyzed by hematoxylin staining. LPS was added to the culture medium to stimulate the AR42J cells. For pretreatment, cells were incubated with different peptides for 2 h before LPS stimulation. Expression of IL-1β and TNF-α mRNA was analyzed using a semi-quantitative reverse-transcript polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR） method. IL-1β and TNF-α protein in culture medium were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）. NF-KB DNA-binding in pancreas was examined by electrophoretic mobility shift assays. P65 expression of AR42J was determined by Strept Actividin-Biotin Complex （SABC） method. RESULTS： Pretreatment with Tat-NBD （WT） peptide at a concentration of 13 mg/kg body wt showed beneficial effect in pancreaitis model. LPS （10 mg/L） resulted in an increase of IL-1β mRNA, IL-1β protein, TNF-α mRNA and TNF-α protein, whereas significantly inhibitory effects were observed when cells were incubated with Tat-NBD （WT）. Consisting with p65 expression decrease analyzed by SABC method, NF-KB DNA-binding activity significantly decreased in Tat-NBD （WT） pretreatment group, especially at the largest dose. No significant changes were found in the control peptide group. CONCLUSION： Our result supports that active NF-KB participates in the pathogenesis of STC-induced acute pancreatitis in rats. Tat-NBD （WT） peptide has anti- inflammatory effects in this model and inhibits the inflammation of acinus simulated by LPS.
